To be fair, my first gen Xiaomi robot vacuum that I replaced last week vacuums way better than the ecovacs T20 omni that took its place.

I mean, it can be both of the things. That Xiaomi vacuumed perfectly, it literally almost never missed a spot, so I can't really imagine how there can be any improvement over perfection ahah In my case I upgraded mostly because I wanted to add mopping, better map management and less noise, and I paid so little for the T20 that I'm fine if it gets 99% of the older robot.

I’ll say something good about them! I’ve had 3, T20, X5 and the X9 which is the best so far. I’ve moved them to my other home as I upgrade and still running great. Now the X5 I had to return, the vacuum box door didn’t close tight, I asked for just the dust bin but they said send it all back so I did, no problems here.

Also, why do mops that leave no water behind (like the T20 Omni) not get a water score? If zero water is left behind, but the mopping stain score is okay, what's the issue and reason for NaN?

Do you have pets? I told my parents what I would say to anyone without pets - if you’re in a relatively clean apartment - the obstacle avoidance isn’t a huge issue. It mainly comes into play when you have dog toys, kids charging cables, shoes and laces around - that it’s worth the extra money. I would have been content with the Omni T20 if I didnt have the kids and dogs. But it would tangle like crazy on cords and long hair. You can find a good enough map/vac for under $600. Just buy a couple year old flagship. Feel free to comment for more questions. I’ve owned like 10 robot vacs in the last 10 years and happy to discuss.

Watch Slickdeals and you will find some really good deals there. I got a Roborock Q Revo for $350 and a Ecovacs T20 for $199 and am extremely happy with both. They empty and auto mop/refill and their obstacle avoidance is excellent.

I bought both a Roborock Q Revo and a Ecovacs T20 this year for $350 & $200 respectively and they work perfect. Even if I have to replace in 2 years I got them for a magnificent price both with self empty and mop cleaning/refilling. Besides that's on you for spending 1.5k+ on something and not adding an extra warranty.

I returned my Ecovacs t20 that kept not being able to find the "cleaning area", requiring a painful remapping to fix the issue. Sometime the base would teleport itself too in a random place on the map. Very unreliable. I switched for a Dreame and it's night and day. The thing just work: reliably! And it's also significantly quieter, both while operating of cleaning the mop pads.

Yeah it map the area the first time you use it. Then gets confused and one of 3 things happens: - it flat out lose its map - it forget where cleaning area are - the base get teleported at a random location on the map and the robot doesn't know what to do. And some of these issues require to delete the map and recreate a new one. Ecovacs: never again.

I returned my T20 to costco after a year of enduring it frequently being unable to find the cleaning area, losing its map, and teleporting the basestation. I switched to a different brand: no more issues and it's *much* quieter.

I've had the Deebot T20 Omni for a year and it's still going strong. Good mopper (the used water tank looks pretty grim as aresult when you empty it), and great on the carpet too. Only complaint I have is it sometimes pauses itself for small things that don't require immediate maintenance, like some hair wrapped around the brush, and you have to manually tell it to just continue. T20 was critisicsed for having poor edging, but t30 apparently fixed that. I haven't had a problem with that myself.

I've had a Deebot T20 omni for going on two years. It's worked flawlessly the entire time and sees daily use. My anecdotal evidence is as worthless as yours though, only read reviews on trusted and well-known third-party review sites - not the shite on Amazon or this sub, which is either pro-(brand) or anti-(brand) marketing on the whole, and not objective reivews.

I got one for 450 CAD after using points and a discount. I have a T20 Omni, and I was gonna sell it on the marketplace. I only used the vacuum for two days. It moves fast, but it seemed less smart than my T20. It would get lost, missing straight lines and edges in random spots. I mapped my bathroom, but it failed to clean it three times and said it was done. The rubber brush is noisy on hardwood floors. You get replacement from amazon, but why should you need to spend on3rd party accessories. My T20 does it perfectly. With advanced detection off, the T20 goes everywhere I want it to, but the X2 didn't. I read a lot of negative reviews and still tried it. But I'm returning it now. As your 1st it should be fine for the price.

While I do not yet own a Yeedi S14 Plus I do own a Yeedi Cube. It's been with me for a over a year now. The brand itself is essentially a sub-brand of Eco-Vac (think Lexus vs Toyota) with Yeedi being the latter. The performance has been great relative to its pricing, the parts still work well and the mop is using a single pad vibration mechanism. This is not as good as my Deebot T30's dual spinning mop pad system but it's enough to remove most winter time salt stains from my tile flooring as well as most other light to medium intensity dirt marks in a single run. IMO one of the things that makes Yeedi good is that it's durable, it's motor and mopping tech is not as competitive as Narwal or Ecovac (on purpose) but out of all the robo vacs I have owned and used it's the only one I have yet to replace a single part for (dust bin just once). People often buy robo vacs based on feats but the really good ones are the ones that last past the 12 months mark once the wear and tear really kicks in. To play the devils advocate however I will say Yeedi's app is very mediocre compared to most other brands though. In 2025 you still cannot select the number of runs per operations for example. No amount of new hardware will fix a bad app sadly. Btw this isn't some paid/affiliated propaganda lol. I have owned a Narwal Freo, Ecovac Deebot T20 and T30, Euxy X8 and the Yeedi Cube (I am a YouTube reviewer so I work with these brands) and I have owned each one for a prolonged period of time and can give you a practical take on it. My fav robo vac to date when taking budget, tech and durability in mind is my now 3 year old Eufy X8 which is old tech but it wins in longevity hands down. Hope this helps! I may review the S14 Plus next month but that's TBD. I will share my unbiased opionion on this thread if it's still open.

I was able to get a refurbished Ecovacs T20 for about 240 on Woot, which is Amazon's clearance site but I believe they had models that were under 200 as well. I then used Bumper (https://github.com/bmartin5692/bumper?tab=readme-ov-file) to get it connected to HA but you can also just use the Ecovacs cloud and connect it up that way.

I love ours. I do NOT recommend the Roomba however, as their mapping software is awful and I have to spend a lot of time babysitting and reprogramming it. Having a self emptying vacuum is essential, otherwise it's not worth the hassle. I love the self washing mop option. Ecovacs Omni self emptying combo vacuum / mop is great on our hard surface floors but mediocre on rugs and carpet. I believe Roborocks may hit the sweet spot of vacuuming carpets well with the double roller design that works so well for Roomba, while having decent map handling. All that being said, an alternative that made a big difference for us is a good stick vacuum from Dyson or Shark. Take the time to hang the charger in as place where you can quickly grab the vacuum as needed. I bought a second "stick" so we call swap between the carpet head and hard surface floor head quickly and easily. Do your research now and then wait for Black Friday sales. You can check online but are likely to get better prices actually going into a store to get the item if possible. Costco and Target have had great sales on these in the past.

Yeah, my Ecovacs with lidar cruised through our open floorplan house and made the map in under 10 minutes, as compared to days of clearing the floor and running the Roomba for hours. And the Ecovacs doesn't continuously override the map and add or delete rooms, move the base station to think it's *inside* the wall, or do any of the other idiocy that Roomba keeps doing.

We got a Eufy vacuum only a few years ago and after having to sweep everyday due to having 2 dogs and a cat, it was this amazing luxury I couldn't even imagine. It ran really well for a long time. Then it did need to be replaced. We got the same model but this one had some issues rather soon. The remote stopped working which was a little important since i had a non mapping model. I still ran it but it would push dining room chairs around, get stuck on the base of our fan and cat scratcher. During Prime we splurged on a Ecovac Deebot that mops. Wow it is such an upgrade from what we 1st started with. We are really happy with its performance, my floors have never been so nicely maintained. Totally worth it.

I have a ecovacs deebot. I've had it a year and a half and have had to replace the brushes on it twice. It's ok to stretch out the vacuuming I have to do with my dyson, but I still need to vacuum about once a week. Twice a week during high shed seasons. It has a mop attachment, but I don't use it as my kitchen and bathrooms are small and the rest of my house is carpet.

I owned a DeeBot and I sent it back after a week. The mapping function was terrible. It was amazing at cleaning but I don’t want to fight with a vacuum. Customer service suggested I join their support group on Facebook for assistance. I can’t even make this mess up. I’m not joining a group to use a vacuum. Instead, I bought a cheap mop/ vacuum combo from Inova and it was amazing. I still use it 2.5 years later. I’m in the market for an upgrade now that budget is larger.

I have an ecovacs deebot that does both vaccuuming and mopping. I used to have a Eufy, but this one is way nicer. They're expensive, but really amazing, and I was able to buy mine from their website on a payment plan. The one I have has a big tank for clean water and one for the dirty water. As it's working, it goes back to its station often, which automatically washes the mop pads and cleans dirt out of the vaccuum with suction. When it's done, the station has a hot air dryer that keeps the mop pads dry. I have a few sets of pads, and I wash them in the washing machine regularly. I agree with the other commenter to make sure you get one with smart mapping, mine does and it works great!

I equate robot vacs to hand sanitizer. They do the job, but at the end of the day, soap and water make your hands feel the cleanest. I have both an ecovac deebot and a roomba 405. Honestly, the cheaper deebot worked more consistently than the Roomba. Their app is dodgy as heck. If you have pets with fur, I've found the old school janitor brooms to be the most efficient and effective on floors. Too much fur tends to clog up Roomba vacs. Go cheap to dip your toes in the robot waters.

$500 is a critical threshold. I have had different Deebots for years and they are very helpful, but the real game changers are the Omni-stations. You definitely want to buy one with a station, that can empty the dust bin, clean and dry the mopping pads. The real magic of these robots is, if you have to interact with them, as little as possible. Having to only empty and refill the robot once a week, instead of daily was the hugest step in comfort for me personally.

My Roborock has been great for me and it was about $700CAD so well within your budget. Vacuums, mops, all those things. The one I had before was a Deebot Ecovacs. It was $1000 CAD and a software nightmare. Cleaned well (not better than the Roborock though) but the software made me want to throw my phone everytime I used it because I had to remap almost every time I changed floors even though it can apparently save 3 maps.

I had a deebot for a couple of years and it was good. So, when it died, I got another one. That one didn't work right and oh my GOSH their customer service was horrible. I ended up returning it and got a Shark. I have no experience with Roborock but will avoid Ecovacs moving forward just because of their horrible customer service.

Another deebot owner here. 2 dogs, one German shepherd, one shorter coat. Love the damn thing. Took a bit of getting used to but saves the house from hair and horse food/hay/grass that blows in the back door.

I have a border collie/husky mix, and hardwood floors. My deebot gets 75% of the hair, and mops up all kinds of stuff as it goes. (Also parakeet fluff.. black hair, white hair, and blue budgie fluff..) I still need to do a real vacuum/mop once a week, but for keeping the filth down the rest of the week, totally worth it.

Bought ecovacs Deebot. The sensors stopped working after 2 years. Got it replaced and the cost was 8K. A year later, the sensors again stopped working and the replacement cost was again 8K. A friend of mine who bought the Deebot 1 year after me had the same issues with the sensors. Their service is expensive. Even to just visit and check the issue they charge 1K. So don’t buy Ecovacs.

Ecovacs has the worst after sales of any company in any place of the world I have ever experienced. Basically they sell low quality Chinese products with heavy features that are only work on paper. The Deebot doesn’t work as advertised. The company won’t take responsibility and goi around in circles. They wasted more than 6 months after talk to multiple people and site visits and it was escalated till the head of the after sales who I will name clearly: Tanmay Gangani, who is an absolute unprofessional and blatant liar with no sense of responsibility and ethics. According to them their devices are flawless. After proving all of this unethical behaviour to Amazon, with evidence, I got my money back. I replaced with a karcher robovac whose mrp was lower but performance is 2x and zero headaches.

I love our Deebot Omni . Highly recommend and definitely get my money’s worth. Don’t buy a cheap one, that will not help you get your money’s worth.

Ok so I have bought 3 robovacs in the last month. a cheap roborock with no dock, a j15 ultra and a ecovacs omni. By far the best mapping was roborock. But the other two vacs are better as they mop and have docks. The eureka j15 pro ultra is the best but the ecovacs isn't much worse for half the price. I paid 250 for the roborock, 650 for the ecovacs and 1200 for the eureka j15. My favourite is the j15 pro ultra and its not much different to the j15 ultra going for 900 now. The battery lasts way longer than the ecovacs omni but both do about the same level of cleaning. I run both mine twice a day just to see how they go and my floors have never been cleaner, whatever way you go a robot vac is awesome. Just schedule in and it cleans, best m9ney I've spent in a while. And yes I do need a couple as I have a large house. This is australia pricing aswell and I bought on the Amazon sales so they were cheap.

Plenty of YouTube channels that do objective testing and reviews. I've got the Ecovacs Omni with the docking station and it's great. Docking station is a must in my opinion. Especially if you have a larger home. It's the difference between the whole house being vacuumed, and just the remainder of the capacity in the robot, which varies depending on when you emptied it last. Ours mops as well, a handy feature if you have hard surfaces too.

I live by mine. Deebot with self emptying. Has full map and Lidar so barely gets caught. Starts when I leave home and when I return it docks and empties. I barely see it.

We started with one iRobot, it worked great! Later decided on a brava (iRobot mop) and it worked amazingly! I was in my doctorate program and didn’t have time to clean the floors. We have two small dogs and five children. The floors are one thing I don’t have to worry about anymore. We recently moved and purchased two combo vacuum and mop, one is iRobot and the other is ecovacs. I like the ecovac more, it seems smarter, however they both do a great job. We have three stories so there are robot vacuum on each floor, they run every day, this keeps the stairs pretty clean and I vacuum the stairs once a week. Our original robot is eight years old and runs fine with daily use.

r/homeowners • Are robot vacuums worth it? I’ve got 4 small kids and I’m always sweeping up the kitchen. Now I have a crawling baby so I’m thinking about getting a robot vacuum, preferably the mop/vacuum kind but they are so expensive! Curious if they are worth it and an investment. ->

I run my whole smart home primarily on smartthings, about 150 devices, so it can definitely work as a great platform. One of the problems though, is that any premium device type that Samsung makes (Washer, dryer, vacuum, tv) they always make the third party integrations either not function or be pretty much useless if it does. They want you to buy the Samsung stuff at a $$ premium. For a vacuum I use an ecovacs vacuum mop combo. It doesn't work with smartthings, but because my robot vacuum doesn't really need to interact with anything else, it's never been an issue. Highly recommend ecovacs, roborock, or eufy as brands.
