I've had it for a few years now. I'd say if you have small rugs in your house, then no. The navigation is a little clunky sometimes but it gets the job done.

Been using this for a week now. Upstairs, I have the Ecovacs Omni X2—similar power on paper. But in reality? The Omni X2 *mops the floor* with the bObsweep when it comes to mopping. No contest. It’s also leagues ahead in object detection. Not even in the same universe. But here’s the thing—the bObsweep *crushes* carpet cleaning. And that’s all I needed for the lower level. No need for mopping down there. Once the room is mapped and obstacles are removed, this is, hands down, the best robot vacuum I’ve ever used. It replaced my Roomba i8+, and my carpet has *never* been this clean. Noticeably less dust in the air too. The vacuum runs in a quarter of the time, at a quarter of the noise level compared to the Roomba. And it doesn’t slam into everything like the Roomba does. I run it every day now, and I don’t even notice it’s on. At first, it did try to take on a surge protector full of wires—which, weirdly enough, my Roomba never attempted. Somehow, the camera and LiDAR didn’t see the brick with cables. But once I zoned that off in the map? This thing *flies* through the room. No bumping, no babysitting, no frustration. Unlike the Roomba, which constantly needed rescuing. Four years of dealing with that pain in the a$$, and now? *Game changer.* If you need a *mopping* vacuum bot, look elsewhere. If you want the best *pure vacuum* bot for the money, you won’t find anything better—not even within $300 north of this price. When it was on sale for $300, I thought it was too good to be true. And yeah, it’s not really a $1200 bot—the mopping and object detection don’t stack up at that level. But as a vacuum? At $300? Absolute steal. The price isn’t $300 right now, but it’ll drop again soon. It keeps going in and out of sale. Just a heads-up for anyone looking for reviews—hope this helps! I took a leap of faith and purchased - as a vacuum bot only - and feel like I won the lottery.

Hello all, I currently have an Ecovacs X2 Omni that ecovacs has agreed to refund after 12 months, due to charging exception faults that they cannot fix they have had the unit for 12 weeks and finally agreed to refund it. It was great for 12 months. I have a mix of tiles and carpet. I am after both mopping and vacuuming. I'm prepared to spend up to $2500 aid for something decent.

We have had the Ecovacs X2 Combo for nearly 2 years and have been very pleased. Mainly chose this model due to the fact that it has a cordless wand style vacuum (which also auto empties like the robot) with attachments for quick cleanups on the couch or vacuuming the stairs. The app has worked great so far and it is ‘Matter’ equipped so I was able to add it to our Apple Home easily. Only downside for us (which is really just us being lazy) is frequency of water tank filling and emptying. I have our mop setting on max water level, so we only get about a week before needing to empty and refill, and that’s in a smaller townhouse.

After sales service in France is impeccable. I bought a T9+ 4 (ish) years ago. I had to send it back due to what I now know is excessive dust under the lidar (4 dogs, 2 cats and living in a rural farm environment - I clean it myself now). It took less than a week! My T9 is now on semi-retirement in a smaller section of the house and I have an X2... Fantastic. I also splurged on a goat which I can honestly say is the best thing I've ever bought... We have 35°+ in the summer months so now I don't have to mow! I recommend Ecovacs to everyone!

I had a Roborock S7 Ultra, Then a Ecovacs X2 and now a Dreame X30 with a Narwall Flow with water kit shipping this week. Right now my vote is for the X30 if you don’t count the App issues (I just don’t like the app) and customer support or lack of. My opinion may change after using the Narwall for a while though.

I got one for 450 CAD after using points and a discount. I have a T20 Omni, and I was gonna sell it on the marketplace. I only used the vacuum for two days. It moves fast, but it seemed less smart than my T20. It would get lost, missing straight lines and edges in random spots. I mapped my bathroom, but it failed to clean it three times and said it was done. The rubber brush is noisy on hardwood floors. You get replacement from amazon, but why should you need to spend on3rd party accessories. My T20 does it perfectly. With advanced detection off, the T20 goes everywhere I want it to, but the X2 didn't. I read a lot of negative reviews and still tried it. But I'm returning it now. As your 1st it should be fine for the price.

Personally I agree with you. If you care that much change th settings and have it do a follow up run with the lower water setting. What i care about is performance. Not price. Not random opinionated things like water residue....performance. Which his site just doesn't seem to be an accurate guide for anymore. Too many of his personal opinions coming into play. And honestly pretty sure manufacturers are paying him. I bought the deebot x2 omni awhile ago based on his review and it was GARBAGE. It couldn't even empty it's own dust bin when it was full of pet hair as it was basically "clogged"...which isn't even something that he tests but is WAY more important than "water residue" as it basically made it unusable. We literally had to manually empty the dust bin after every run. So as other npc fanboys have said to you, albeit sarcastically, you SHOULD start your own site...and do it right because this guy is basically just a paid shill.

It’s not the best with obstacle avoidance and mapping but it’ll be better than anything else you find in that price range. Embedded LiDAR RGB + AI Obstacle Avoidance Single side brush All rubber main brush Dual spinning, lifting, extending mop pads Auto-empty dustbin Hot mop washing and drying 8000Pa suction You’re not getting anything else with these features in that price range

Hey everybody, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the Ecovacs X9 and Ecovacs' navigation and mapping in general. I've been using the X9 at my house for the past few weeks, and I've gained a bit more clarity on the nuances of their navigation system. --- ### A Bit of History: Ecovacs' Navigation Struggles Ecovacs has been around for a long time and, in my opinion, has always produced great robot vacuums when it comes to the fundamentals. However, **navigation has historically been a struggle for them.** For example, we haven't rated Ecovacs flagships highly at all for the past few years. The **X1 and X2 were significant failures** in our estimation, largely due to their navigation problems, leading to very low rankings in our system. As many of you probably know, the industry has been trying to move away from top-mounted LiDAR systems in favor of **internal LiDAR systems.** I presume this is to achieve a slimmer robot profile, among other reasons. Generally, I've been vocal about thinking this is a **downgrade.** Ecovacs was one of the pioneers with this internal LiDAR system, and it really wasn't very good with the X1 and X2. Nevertheless, it does seem to be the direction the industry is heading, with Roborock's flagships also mostly using internal LiDAR. I personally find it **less effective at mapping, generally less accurate, and it gives the appearance of a "dumber" robot vacuum** because it often needs to face the area it's trying to map or recognize. At best, they have about a 180° field of view, as opposed to the 360° field of view top-mounted LiDAR robots have enjoyed. --- ### The Current Lineup (T50, T80, X9, etc.) & Initial Impressions All of these new Ecovacs robots (T50, T80, X9, etc.) did amazing in our initial tests. For the first time in a long time, Ecovacs started to rank really high in our system, though there was still the lingering question of potential navigation issues. When testing the **T80**, which has a very similar system to the X9, we encountered errors where it would just stop for no reason or get stuck in places it absolutely shouldn't. I couldn't find a reason for this other than buggy navigation. With the **X9**, its navigation wasn't great in our initial tests, but it was "good enough." Because we ranked it number one in our system, I decided to take it home and test it myself to ensure none of the subtle idiosyncrasies show up only with long-term, real-world household use. --- ### My X9 Home Test: Initial Frustration & Breakthrough The first thing to note is that the **X9's mapping, in general, isn't as accurate as other robot vacuums, especially those with top-mounted LiDAR.** It doesn't automatically divide rooms correctly, and it doesn't initially tell you where major obstacles are to help you draw virtual barriers. So, you really need to know what you're doing to set up the initial map. But the far bigger problem for me was that the **first mapping run it did was inaccurate.** It was skewed to one side and caused tons of navigation failures. It couldn't find the dock and, generally, it was an incomplete dumpster fire in terms of navigating around the house. At this point, I started to really sweat. Here I'd been recommending this product as the best, and it was performing about as badly as a robot vacuum possibly could. To make matters worse, I reset the map, and it did very similar things. It also suggested a new map, which I agreed to, and that just made matters even worse. I was about to scrap the whole thing and post an emergency update telling everyone never to buy this product and apologizing for ever recommending it. However, I decided to do a **hard reset of the robot vacuum and re-map again.** This seems to have resolved the issue! Since then, I have done **11 complete runs of my floor plan with no issues – literally no issues.** It has completed each run perfectly, returned to the dock perfectly, and avoided all obstacles. --- ### Key Takeaways & Advice Don't get me wrong, I don't think anybody should have to go through this. It should work out of the box, and I stand by my view that **internal LiDAR is a massive mistake in the industry** and just makes robots more prone to error. But I will say that if you're having issues with the **X9 or any of the similar new lineup models (such as the T50, etc.), particularly with it not returning to its dock correctly** (which I think is a tell-tale sign of a bad map), **try doing a hard reset or at least turning the robot off and on and then re-mapping.** --- ### A Broader Point on Testing & User Experience There's a broader point here, of course, which I've heard others mention on this forum: **Vacuum Wars is a tester, and it's hard for us to find the idiosyncrasies in robot vacuums that only come from living with them for a long period of time.** As some of you know, we've tried to mitigate this in our ranking by continually updating how we calculate user review data from Amazon, particularly by adding the percentage of one-star reviews and a few other things. But in the end, we need to do better with this. Especially from now on, when we say something is our "favorite product," **I will be personally taking it home and living with it** so that I can do updates like this. If there is a genuine problem that can't be fixed, I will definitely retract that recommendation. I plan on doing another post here shortly about the fundamental problem of how we can get better at finding these idiosyncrasies, so look for that for more on this!

I have a ecovacs deebot. I've had it a year and a half and have had to replace the brushes on it twice. It's ok to stretch out the vacuuming I have to do with my dyson, but I still need to vacuum about once a week. Twice a week during high shed seasons. It has a mop attachment, but I don't use it as my kitchen and bathrooms are small and the rest of my house is carpet.

I owned a DeeBot and I sent it back after a week. The mapping function was terrible. It was amazing at cleaning but I don’t want to fight with a vacuum. Customer service suggested I join their support group on Facebook for assistance. I can’t even make this mess up. I’m not joining a group to use a vacuum. Instead, I bought a cheap mop/ vacuum combo from Inova and it was amazing. I still use it 2.5 years later. I’m in the market for an upgrade now that budget is larger.

I like having a robot vacuum but the ecovacs app/software is super glitchy. It will just go random places when assigned other areas. I have an ecovacs deebot that does both vaccuuming and mopping. I used to have a Eufy, but this one is way nicer. They're expensive, but really amazing, and I was able to buy mine from their website on a payment plan. The one I have has a big tank for clean water and one for the dirty water. As it's working, it goes back to its station often, which automatically washes the mop pads and cleans dirt out of the vaccuum with suction. When it's done, the station has a hot air dryer that keeps the mop pads dry. I have a few sets of pads, and I wash them in the washing machine regularly. I agree with the other commenter to make sure you get one with smart mapping, mine does and it works great!

I equate robot vacs to hand sanitizer. They do the job, but at the end of the day, soap and water make your hands feel the cleanest. I have both an ecovac deebot and a roomba 405. Honestly, the cheaper deebot worked more consistently than the Roomba. Their app is dodgy as heck. If you have pets with fur, I've found the old school janitor brooms to be the most efficient and effective on floors. Too much fur tends to clog up Roomba vacs. Go cheap to dip your toes in the robot waters.

$500 is a critical threshold. I have had different Deebots for years and they are very helpful, but the real game changers are the Omni-stations. You definitely want to buy one with a station, that can empty the dust bin, clean and dry the mopping pads. The real magic of these robots is, if you have to interact with them, as little as possible. Having to only empty and refill the robot once a week, instead of daily was the hugest step in comfort for me personally.

Bought ecovacs Deebot. The sensors stopped working after 2 years. Got it replaced and the cost was 8K. A year later, the sensors again stopped working and the replacement cost was again 8K. A friend of mine who bought the Deebot 1 year after me had the same issues with the sensors. Their service is expensive. Even to just visit and check the issue they charge 1K. So don’t buy Ecovacs.

Ecovacs has the worst after sales of any company in any place of the world I have ever experienced. Basically they sell low quality Chinese products with heavy features that are only work on paper. The Deebot doesn’t work as advertised. The company won’t take responsibility and goi around in circles. They wasted more than 6 months after talk to multiple people and site visits and it was escalated till the head of the after sales who I will name clearly: Tanmay Gangani, who is an absolute unprofessional and blatant liar with no sense of responsibility and ethics. According to them their devices are flawless. After proving all of this unethical behaviour to Amazon, with evidence, I got my money back. I replaced with a karcher robovac whose mrp was lower but performance is 2x and zero headaches.

I love our Deebot Omni . Highly recommend and definitely get my money’s worth. Don’t buy a cheap one, that will not help you get your money’s worth.

Ok so I have bought 3 robovacs in the last month. a cheap roborock with no dock, a j15 ultra and a ecovacs omni. By far the best mapping was roborock. But the other two vacs are better as they mop and have docks. The eureka j15 pro ultra is the best but the ecovacs isn't much worse for half the price. I paid 250 for the roborock, 650 for the ecovacs and 1200 for the eureka j15. My favourite is the j15 pro ultra and its not much different to the j15 ultra going for 900 now. The battery lasts way longer than the ecovacs omni but both do about the same level of cleaning. I run both mine twice a day just to see how they go and my floors have never been cleaner, whatever way you go a robot vac is awesome. Just schedule in and it cleans, best m9ney I've spent in a while. And yes I do need a couple as I have a large house. This is australia pricing aswell and I bought on the Amazon sales so they were cheap.

We have this one too and it is so good. Vital for us now with two cats who like to shed. Initially it was a little bit expensive but so so so worth it.

Plenty of YouTube channels that do objective testing and reviews. I've got the Ecovacs Omni with the docking station and it's great. Docking station is a must in my opinion. Especially if you have a larger home. It's the difference between the whole house being vacuumed, and just the remainder of the capacity in the robot, which varies depending on when you emptied it last. Ours mops as well, a handy feature if you have hard surfaces too.

I live by mine. Deebot with self emptying. Has full map and Lidar so barely gets caught. Starts when I leave home and when I return it docks and empties. I barely see it.

We started with one iRobot, it worked great! Later decided on a brava (iRobot mop) and it worked amazingly! I was in my doctorate program and didn’t have time to clean the floors. We have two small dogs and five children. The floors are one thing I don’t have to worry about anymore. We recently moved and purchased two combo vacuum and mop, one is iRobot and the other is ecovacs. I like the ecovac more, it seems smarter, however they both do a great job. We have three stories so there are robot vacuum on each floor, they run every day, this keeps the stairs pretty clean and I vacuum the stairs once a week. Our original robot is eight years old and runs fine with daily use.

r/homeowners • Are robot vacuums worth it? I’ve got 4 small kids and I’m always sweeping up the kitchen. Now I have a crawling baby so I’m thinking about getting a robot vacuum, preferably the mop/vacuum kind but they are so expensive! Curious if they are worth it and an investment. ->

I run my whole smart home primarily on smartthings, about 150 devices, so it can definitely work as a great platform. One of the problems though, is that any premium device type that Samsung makes (Washer, dryer, vacuum, tv) they always make the third party integrations either not function or be pretty much useless if it does. They want you to buy the Samsung stuff at a $$ premium. For a vacuum I use an ecovacs vacuum mop combo. It doesn't work with smartthings, but because my robot vacuum doesn't really need to interact with anything else, it's never been an issue. Highly recommend ecovacs, roborock, or eufy as brands.
