"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"I can basically always trust my X40 to finish a midnight cleaning session in the dark and wake up to find it sitting in its dock and have clean floors in the morning."

"I think its hands down the best all around option right now, especially once you hook it up to the water line and drain, i run it daily in our house and we got rid of our cleaning help because of it."

"I absolutely do not regret buying the robot vacuum. ... My room is a lot cleaner and dust-free now, and I can tell just by wiping my floor with a wet toilet paper and seeing barely anything picked up. ... I've been getting allergens a ton less, most of which not even in my room. ... All this for the commitment of a weekly emptying is miles more convenient than vacuuming traditionally, as opposed to making a few taps on my phone. ... looking back it was definitely worth the investment."

"My cat has very bad mite allergies, and this vacuum is a must have for us for keeping the floors clean of all dust, dander, and dirt."

"The second floor of my house is all carpeted, and I used to clean with a Dyson V8, but since I got the E28, I haven't vacuumed myself."

"Mine lets you set up no-go zones in the app so I don't worry about doors either. ... Whether my daughter's room is open, or not, it won't go in where her toys are"

"it is also way more prone to tracking pet messes about, that happened once with a pile of cat vomit and I was a little traumatized."

"if you take if off the dock yourself it loses the mop function unless you restart it literally 10 times"

"for the love of God please don get a roomba combo model. They don work… ever."

"the mapping is problematic. ... I tested it at my home and had the same mapping issue. ... While it cleaned great, the mapping is not. ... The S1 was solid for about 30 cleans, then it just went nuts. ... Eufy said the space needed more obstacles. I tired cones places throughout. That didn help. ... It is being returned and I m trying a mova next."

"The map would constantly get messed up and I would have to make it remap my house every week."

"It was awful at remapping and I would have to babysit it for hours while it did it."

"If it doesn't get run at least once a day, the roller brush will get clogged."

"I do have to clean the brush off daily because it will tangle with hair ... My only complaint is the tangled brush ... as long as I go and pop off the back and pull the hair out once a day I don't have any problems."

I like Roborock, but to be fair, Ecovacs does work, at least not worse than Roborock for me. My Roborock S5 is slowly retiring. It used to clean the bedroom's floor, then went downstairs to the living room's first floor, and now it is on a partial retirement in the office room - smallest and easiest to clean :) Downstairs is Ecovacs T8 OZMO, which runs daily, with almost 3,000 runs in its lifetime. Not a single problem! Upstairs is Ecovacs X1 Omni, which runs 2-3 times a week, mopping. No complaints in the last 2 years, never gave me any trouble.

How is the mapping on Ecovacs now? I used to have a T8 and it was awful. The map would constantly get messed up and I would have to make it remap my house every week. It was awful at remapping and I would have to babysit it for hours while it did it. I ended up getting a Roborock Qrevo which has been amazing. I’ve had it a few years and never had to redo the map due to issues with the robot. The one I did have to remap was when I got it back from being serviced, and it perfectly mapped out my entire house on its own in under 30 minutes without me babysitting it. I’m mainly looking for a good mop, so I would be open to Ecovacs again if it’s actually improved now.

It sounds like you need a versatile robot that can handle both mopping and vacuuming without making your rugs and carpets wet. I've tried the Roborock S7, which has a strong vacuum feature combined with a mopping system that lifts when it detects carpet, keeping everything dry. Another option to consider is the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo series, known for its advanced mapping and smart home integration, which helps optimize cleaning patterns. Both offer features that reduce the risk of wet carpets. If you're still unsure, checking out reviews on ConsumerRating could give you a clearer idea since they cover a wide range of models and features.

So in short, looks like my deebot T8 has hit it's end. some reason it's map just went crazy where it flips 45 degrees randomly in the process of cleaning, rendering it very random, and in addition it's roller would jam horribly with our husky hair to the point that I had to clean out the roller twice a day just to keep up. Anyway now I'm about to have 500-600 or so to put into a new vacuum. I'm a big home automation fan, love my homeassistant setup. I'd like something that I can directly tie into home assistant to tell it to clean a specific room etc.., and I'd like something that handles or avoids pet hair tangles as much as possible, we have 3 dogs, one of them a husky that sheds like crazy. The Ecovacs L60 was a big positive to me on looking, with the blades that cut hair off the roller on the base station. Which reviews seem to go both ways on, some saying it works well consistantly, some saying it does nothing. I'm seeing generally good opinions on the roborock q5, and from what I'm seeing roborock has the best compatibility in home assistant. Mopping sounds kind of nice, but getting pet hair and dirt up is far higher priority, I know there's a post like this every month or so, but so far most of the recent ones I'm seeing are "money no object", and haven't seen one that really weighed in home assistant compatibility.

Dont forget that reddit, especially subreddits like these, are riddled with bots astroturfing their products, shitting on others. The collective negative sentiment to Ecovacs can as well just be manufactured, its basically impossible to tell. Had mine 4 years, T8 ozmo, mopping sucked balls, vacuuming was okay, navigation allright. Stopped using it when the drop sensors stopped working suddenly, which considering its not even mechanical part, was kinda a bummer.

Just upgraded to the X9. I previously had the T8 since 2020. Huge upgrade, and I have been very happy.

I'm uneasy about getting a robot hooked into the plumbing when I've yet to have one (besides a Roomba) last more than a year. My Deebot T8 had 2 wheel failures within a year then the 3rd died just after the warranty My Roborock S8 Pro Ultra charging error (known issue for years going back to S5) then the fan motor died. My first Q Revo Curv started having docking issues after just a week and eventually failed to recognize the dock at all. Now on my 2nd unit

Robot Vacuum is a huge win. I thought it was stupid when the first ones came out and just bounced randomly but they have come a looong way. My current robot has a vibrator attached to the mop to scrub it better than I will ever bother.

Maybe?. I had a shitty one before. The object avoidance makes a huge difference. I don't have to move anything, or clear the floors. It avoids cords, and most toys. Mine lets you set up no-go zones in the app so I don't worry about doors either. Whether my daughter's room is open, or not, it won't go in where her toys are

Hi Amanda! Maybe you can provide a bit of guidance for me? I’ve been researching, but it’s overwhelming lol. I currently have ecovacs t8 which vacuums fine, but the moping is a joke. My main floor is large, but split, sunken portion and elevated. It’s all LVP with some large rugs. 3 person household with no pets currently, but that may change. I really want something that mops well within a $700 budget.
