"Doesn’t work for me. I have a husky so a bit of dog hair and it struggles. ... It goes around it as if it’s an obstruction. ... It then gets trapped in the roller. ... There’s no cutting mechanism so it blocks up quickly and the vacuum isn’t powerful enough to suck it into its storage area. ... I’m not talking about a big clunk of hair either."

"I have the Ecovacs Deebot T30 (allegedly the same robot) and I have the same issue. ... every time it returns to its dock to empty the onboard bin (4-5 times per cleaning) I have to open the lid and physically remove huge clumps of hair from the port that connects the onboard bin to the brush. ... This tells me that the vacuum likely looses suction power early on due to the blockage and is just pushing debris around until I clear it manually."

"The ecovacs has pretty bad obstacle avoidance too but this is mainly due to a lack of an LED fill light and poor firmware."

"Roborock and MOVA / dreame generally have better navigation and mapping than ecovacs."

I've a Ecovacs T30s Pro OMNI. Firstly the service has been really good in Bangalore, where I'm at.   Just last week called for a service to de-dust the internal electronics thinking it might have gone inside after this long (because usually dust is the reason these things fail). The technician came very next day and he opened it up and surprisingly it was really clean but what little dust was collected we blew it off using an air blower. Have not had another issues as such personally.  Bought it in Jan of this year. Initially spares were not available and the OEM ones were expensive so waited for a couple of months and many 3rd party ones popped up. Spares right now are very affordable and I'm using some 3rd party and it works fine.  Maintenance: 1. Once a week clean out the dirty water and refill the clean water. (~10m) 2. Once in 2 weeks clean the robot itself and clean the mop pads. (~30m) 3. Whenever the part replacement alarm comes up change those after inspecting the actual part for wear and tear. If the part still has some life I usually use it a little more before replacing them.   I have been mostly hands-off with the vacuum and it just works. Have a schedule for everyday morning before we wake up. House is spotless before we come out of our rooms.

Welcome! Yes it's better than nothing. A lot of people say and will keep saying it's costly and maintenance etc etc but if you can afford it get the one with the dock  when you can. The factor of convenience alone is amazing for us. We do not have to rely on maid or anyone else to keep the house clean. We have a retriever at home so for us this is an indispensable tool.

I have the T30 Omni and it does very well in keeping my house clean with my hair that falls out constantly and 4 cats. Mine also auto empties. I think there’s something wrong with yours.

I also have a t30. And for the most part I’m happy. I’m just a bit frustrated since sometimes I notice streaks on my floors after a couple of weeks. I’ve changed the amount of water distributed but it hasn’t made a difference. I replace the mops once a week and wash the old ones and usually look brand new when I take them out. So that’s my main issue. My floor is also terrible that you literally just look at it then it gets dirty.

Just to say, we bought an ecovac t30 omni but had to return it within a month of purchasing. After returning it to Good guys, they then revealed to us that they are the most returned brand of robo vacs so... my suggestion, stay away from ecovacs. Their instructions, and troubleshooting is not very clear / helpful either.

We have an ecovacs t30 Omni and it is pretty great for overall cleaning. We have a gsd and a lab and they both shed like crazy so obviously a single robot is not enough but it definitely helps reducing the workload and the trips to the bin with the vacuum full of hair lol

r/RobotVacuumsI need some help with finding a good Robot Vacum
9 days ago

I'm not an expert but I did buy / return many and found one I liked a year or so back. Roborock Qrevo Curve. Was over $1000 when I bought it. Down to $700 now I think. It seldom gets stuck. Can run multiple programs. Mine currently vacuums only the whole house 2x week. Washes/mops only the whole house 1x a week. It mops and vacuum combo the kitchen floor every night after 9p and all the cooking is done. It has been easy to maintain. I fill the water tank once a week, empty the waist water tank at the same time. I get about 3 months out of a vacuum cleaner bag before swapping. It handles high thresholds better than anything I've seen. I have an old house with a 2" threshold in one of the rooms. No issue getting over. Great mapping with good options to limit it from rooms or areas in the room. Dream L40 - Was the first high end mop/vac I owned. It's AI obstacle avoidance was the best I've ever seen. The issue I had was it dropped the mops automatically when running vacuum only. This should be a good thing and was until it somehow lost the ability to pick them up and would fault out. I returned it. Mapping was excellent. It did have pretty good threshold passing but could not get over the 2" threshold. Ecovac T30-AI. I still own this because I had some shit hit the fan at the end of the return window and missed the return window. Worst mapping of any I've mapped with. It missed rooms and had a very hard time crossing thresholds. All the thresholds. Once a map was made, it didn't' update it at all. The others all add rooms or areas if they find them. If I map with a door of a room closed and later open the door, that room will never be entered by the ecovac, the others all just updated their maps. As far as cleaning goes, if the path is flat, no thresholds, it does a pretty good job on the vac+mop setting. But it can only program one setting. So I can not vacuum 5 days a week and mop one of those days. It runs at the time you set, on the mode you left it last. I have a sunken room that the Roborock can't get to. I used to just move the Dream and later the Roborock into that area once a week. Now the Eco lives in that room. Should be a perfect case. But here is it's biggest flaw. If the batter runs dead, it will not charge from the dock. You have to dismantle the robot, pull the battery, charge the batter on an external charger, and then reinstall the battery. This is not practical for 90% of the owners. Most don't have a batter charger for that type of batter. If I wasn't an RC Car guy in my youth, I'd have no idea what to do. I own it. It's been running for over a year and doing an OK job. I would not recommend it to anyone. Various Roomba. I've owned 4 or 5, bought my parents 1 or 2. set them all up. These are very basic machines and over priced for what they do. They are existing on name recognition these days. They don't suck but there are better out there for less money. My parents love theirs.

Yeah, more expensive ones might be better, but that doesn’t mean we all need to spend so much. I got my ecovacs t30s for around 500 bucks, and I use it to vacuum my rugs and mop the hardwood floors. I just do a few things after using it, like refilling the water tank, changing the dust bag every month or two.

I got an ecovacs t30 and it definitely did a good job on keeping my floor clean, no hair tangle issue so far. Imo auto emptying and auto mop washing is a must, and it's quite enough for daily cleaning routine. But if you have low furniture clearance, then ecovacs t50 pro might be a better alternative.

It’s mostly hardwood in my place, but about 60% of the floor is covered with rugs. I’m using a deebot t30s to handle the cleaning, and I hardly have issues with the dustbin getting stuck. In fact, I haven’t really needed to clean the dustbin inside the robot much; I mostly just change the dust bag at the dock.

Longtime Neato, Roomba, and Braava owner here. Tried smarter bots and found the Ecovacs Deebot T30S disappointing but am very happy with two Dreame X50 Ultra bots, one white and one black. My Roomba 980 and Neato XV Signature Pro are still good for turning loose in areas the new ones can't get to by themselves. Tried a new Roomba Combo to future-proof those areas but it was basically a downgrade. We wore out the little Braava 380t, but I haven't looked for parts because the Dreame bots do a much better job with much less effort from me.

In USA they seem to cover warranties without argument. I don't think much of the features or the quality, but Ecovacs did replace my Deebot T30S when the dock started leaking. The replacement is for sale now because I've moved on to Dreame, but I may try an Ecovacs window bot as they seem to have unique expertise in that area.

r/RobotVacuumsToo many Black Friday robot vac deals… which one's actually worth it?

Read the reviews. The Dreame X50 has won awards and most of their lineup is highly regarded. I haven't tried the top-of-the-line Ecovacs but I had a midrange T30S and the Dreame X50 Ultra is so vastly superior I bought a second one to replace the Ecovacs.

r/RobotVacuumsToo many Black Friday robot vac deals… which one's actually worth it?

I had a T30S which is a mid-range model so this is not a 1-to-1 comparison with the top-of-the-line Dreame X50 Ultra. I suspect T50 is also mid-range and that something like the Ecovacs X90 would be a better comparison. Having said that, I'll just say that the T30S drop sensors, optical encoders, climbing, navigation, mapping and app features are inferior to the X50 Ultra's. When the T30S dock sprung a leak, Ecovacs would not engage with me about a replacement part and just replaced the whole package — a leak and a swap being situation normal with any of these Chinese brands — so since I was going to lose the map anyway I decided to replace the replacement with a second Dreame X50 Ultra. Have not regretted it one bit.
