We currently have an ecovacs omni x1 and it uses rotational. it gets most everything but the thing is so unreliable at mapping and navigation now and batteries are failing after about 2.5 years.

kind of. my omni x1 when nearing 2yr mark started having lots of issues with both tanks, either not getting clean water to wash the mop pads or not sucking away the dirty water. i sort of extended its lifespan by replacing the tanks with a water module. it allows me to fit the inlet to a tap and the output down the drain. now my next issue is that it randomly undocks itself and tries to find home again but fails even though it is right outside. not to forget i bought a replacement battery at 1yr mark and replaced it myself. i didn't go through the service centre even though i still had another year of warranty left. because the service center would have taken weeks to test before confirming replacement.

I had an ecovacs x1 Omni that just bit the dust. The main brush stopped working after just over 2 years. Luckily I paid for a three year warranty so I got an Amazon gift card for the original purchase price and I got another one - went with the dreame x40 ultra this time - and you better believe I added another three year warranty.

I don’t agree on roller mops. They have small contact patches and bad edge cleaning. Also Ecovacs navigation has been poor consistently with maps getting corrupted over time. I’ve got a Dreame l40 ultra now and it has good edge cleaning, good mop pad cleaning and works more reliably than my two previous Ecovacs ever had. Downsides are that water tanks are too small so need to be filled too often in a larger house and the base gets very dirty and white plastic stains as it doesn’t manage to pull all the mop dirt into the dirty water tank. There were just too many bugs with Ecovacs kit and they abandon the new model within a month or two to focus on the next one. I’m sure Dreame are as bad but it doesn’t matter as much when the software actually works. My last Ecovacs was an x1 omni and added to the above problems is that the battery couldn’t clean the whole floor in one pass and recharge was so slow it would start again (only at 100%) in the evening which was mega annoying. Dreame also can’t do the whole floor but it charges much faster.

That makes complete sense, I have not come across your reviews nor read them. I'll be very honest. I just happen see this thread as I was scrolling by. I have an X1 Omni and well it's okay, the base tends to get clogged up if I use the mopping feature and I think the robot itself is starting to die. But I've had it now for 2 and 1/2 years and it's nice, but I don't think I'm going to buy another robot for a little while. I like what's out there, but I do agree with what you've commented on other people's posts that the consistency and quality difference between flagship bots is ridiculous.

I like Roborock, but to be fair, Ecovacs does work, at least not worse than Roborock for me. My Roborock S5 is slowly retiring. It used to clean the bedroom's floor, then went downstairs to the living room's first floor, and now it is on a partial retirement in the office room - smallest and easiest to clean :) Downstairs is Ecovacs T8 OZMO, which runs daily, with almost 3,000 runs in its lifetime. Not a single problem! Upstairs is Ecovacs X1 Omni, which runs 2-3 times a week, mopping. No complaints in the last 2 years, never gave me any trouble.

Ours (X1 Omni) is about to be passed on to the next unlucky sod who’ll have to cope with its demented behaviours that can only be solved temporarily with off-and-on-again. We’ll have a Roborock S8 Ultra instead.

It was an X1 Omni, so not cheap. It went wrong after just a few weeks and was sent back for repair which took too long to be considered good service. And all the way through the damn thing has exhibited awfully strange behaviours, like getting lost, going round in circles, or coming out for a clean then returning to base immediately. And the cleaning sink gets blocked and fills up ever so easily. In a direct comparison with a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, there’s no contest. It’s Roborock every time.

Look for refurbished, second hand stuff. With a pair of gloves, wet tissues and some good ole elbow grease, you can save alot of money. Got an X1 Omni for about 130 USD second hand, nearly mint too. They are about 300 USD refurbished so no hassle in cleaning out the previous owner's gunk. You could prob get last year's flagships at your price point with this method quite easily, IMO the generation before all the novelty/first generation whacky features like the robo arms, threshold clearance stuff, roller mops (seems useful but still first gen), retractable Lidar (would love this on mine but still first gen). These are features which has not proven its utility with everyday users, as well as being likely not have its design flaws and kinks ironed out and is an additional mechanical/electrical motor point of failure.

I bought a second hand X1 Omni, for about 130 USD. So far, not much complaints. But I can't really comment on the experience vs a Roborock or Dreame machine, only other experience of note is a week or 2 with the Roborock s5, which is hardly comparable

I too went thru 5 ecovacs before giving up on them after my ecovacs x1 omni died just after 2.5 years of use. I'm ended up with the eureka j15 pro ultra but did have a bad camera and they replaced it for free after a bad review and Amazon returned my money so was completely free. I have been using it for about 1 month daily now and has been flawless and when I flipped it over for a monthly cleanup there was not 1 hair wrapped around the roller, couldn't believe it. One thing to consider is eureka support is slower than ecovacs if help is needed so keep that in mind. Ecovacs has always treated me well and went above and beyond to try and make things right if had a problem but after 5 bad robots in a row just couldn't trust the quality anymore. Good luck and hold on for the head spinning from all the positive and negative reviews of them all. Lol

Just swapped from ecovacs. I can't speak to their newer models but my X1 Omni broke after 2 years and I'm completely SOL. I had a few break downs in 2 years and always fixed it myself until the last one killed it for me. Ecovacs customer service doesn't care once you're out of warranty.  To be fair, all of these robot vacs have long term quality concerns. Most of the robot wars reviews are good but don't really address long term outside of aggregating Amazon reviews. I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger on a more budget model of another brand. I can handle it breaking after 2-3 years at $300 instead of $1000+.

I have the deebot omni x1 for over couple years now and I absolutely love it, my reasons to buy were same as your's btw. Now they have even more advanced model with internal blades so hair also does not get tangled. If you have carpets in your house, prolly also look for models where mopping pads can be lifted. Rest just get the cheapest model with a hub with dust bag and water storage for mopping. Recently recommended this to my friend and he is also absolutely satisfied - [https://amzn.to/462YpBG](https://amzn.to/462YpBG)

ikr, I bought my x1 omni at 85k and it seemed like a steal deal at that time. It does have another water container for dirty water, but practically it's just one more jar to empty without any real effect on the cleaning.

We've been using an Ecovacs X1 Omni for a few years now and it works well, but it struggles with pet hair tangles. Based on the YouTube review below, we picked up a Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 and holy cow the difference is night and day. If you go Dreame, make sure you get the tricut brush as well, it's what really changes things.  We have two Goldens running around the house, and now that I've set up the D10 with tricut brush to run at night right before the X1 Omni, the hair tumbleweeds are gone and I no longer have to clean hair out of the vacuum rollers. I'd highly recommend something from Dreame that includes mopping to fit your needs 👍 TL;DR: Non-carpet flooring with pets? Get a Dreame vacuum and a Tricut brush. Check for Home Assistant compatibility first. Most but not all of them are integrable. https://youtu.be/kF1y2rLqAGM

I had the Ecovacs X1 Omni and it was a good mop/vacuum overall but the software drove me crazy to the point where I had to return it. I have a Roborock QX Revo now, and the software is way better. I haven't done a side by side to test which was better at cleaning but the Ecovacs either had a way larger battery or used less battery because I used to use it on my second floor (all carpet, except the two washrooms) and would do the 3 bedrooms with two passes and the rest only one pass and it still had battery left. Setting up the Roborock the same way with the same suction setting, I can't even finish the entire floor with one pass everywhere.

I've only had the omni x1 for a month now but the software has been fine regarding the maps. Going thru the subs I think this was fixed in the last 6mo. Haven't had it (yet?) The software is in general, definitely behind roborock tho. Creating the map and splitting the rooms took 5x longer than my 7 year roborock I had before. But in theory I only have to do it once

Do any roller mop bot users know how the roller design handles debris like dog hair or dirt? My ecovacs x1 omni often misses some debris while vacuuming and I wonder if this would cause issues with the internals of a roller mop. Any other cons to know about compared to spinning mops?

If you don't care about mopping, then I would suggest considering a roomba j series. The dual rollers, bin design (reduces filter clogging), dirt detection, and bin sensor for auto empty make it well suited for pet hair. Hair will still accumulate inside of the rubber rollers and require maintenance. VacuumWars recently found that the similar combo 10 max picked up 100% of 2.5 inch hair from carpet, which was much better than many modern flagship models from competitors. I have 3 robovacs (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, Roborock S6 pure) and rate the j5+ highly. I have 270 hours on it so far with no issues

The comment about robot vacuums only being for small places is probably based on the old random pattern robots. Most robots now map and do well in large houses. It sounds like most mapping robots would work for you, since you don't want mopping, have hardfloors, and no pets. So anything with lidar (prefered) or vslam navigation. Obstacle avoidance might be a useful feature for cords, shoes, toys etc. left on the ground. It might be worth looking into a Eufy L60, iRobot Roomba j series, Roborock Q series, or shark. I'm biased because I have three robot vacs (Roborock S6, Ecovacs x1 omni, and iRobot Roomba j5+ combo) and my roomba j5+ is the only one that is reliable and working at the moment

I have three robots (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, and a Roborock S6 Pure). When my Roborock had constant issues I looked into durability and longevity as the number 1 criteria and found that almost all comments from owners with high hours (maybe 800+) were either roborock S5s, old random pattern roombas, and i series roombas. I'd recommend an i7+ or j series Roomba (for obstacle avoidance and more reliable dock). They are well suited to hair and heavy use because of the dual rollers, bin design (reduces filter clogging/motor strain), bin sensor for auto empty and dirt detect, modular design (fast replacement parts), part availablity, and reports from owners. VacuumWars also found that cleaning performance of 2.5 inch pet sized hair on carpet was 100%, unlike many modern flagship models. My j5+ was been flawless for 270 hours so far. The only issues I have seen online relate to cleaning of bin sensors and charging contacts. Hopefully this helps

Keep in mind that many robot vacs will work without internet connection, just without scheduling, map editing or access to customised settings. I often take my ecovacs x1 omni and roomba j5+ to other houses without wifi connection. I just let them map without wifi, return them to wifi and ad no-go zones which are recognised during the next run

I know there were a lot of complaints about map stability and having to remap regularly, which makes it difficult to run on a schedule. I picked up an X1 omni from marketplace 6 months ago (only because of the cost), and it's been good. No problems that couldn't be fixed by power cycling. The maps have been completely stable, while my roborock s6 frequently had corrupted maps

Do you have it set to vacuum while mopping, sucking up moisture which makes hair and dust clump? I think the auto empty of Ecovacs/Yeedi is on the weaker side (at least comparing my X1 omni with my roomba j5+). I'd make it clean one small custom zone or room at a time on a schedule so that the hair doesn't build up too much between auto empties

I mostly agree. I had to stop using scheduled runs after my X1 omni spread dog poo throughout the house (including rugs). My dog is toilet trained but just decided to carry in an old poo from outside one day. I couldn't have predicted it. At the same time the uses and priority of features vary so much between users. Some people are minimalist and tidy, so won't have to babysit robots either way. Another example is my garage robot vacuum, that just needs to handle large debris like leaves and twigs. My ancient roomba 670 has a bin opening the length of the roller, which is uncommon now but perfectly suited to the debris in my garage. I get that this is an obscure use though.

We had an X1 Omni for two years, and overall it was an adequate vacuum. My main complaints at the time: - The app or robot would ‘forget’ the map randomly, and I couldn’t backup/restore at that time. Backup and restoring was eventually added. - The docks mop cleaning ‘deck’ wasn’t removable, so cleaning was a huge pain. It would also have a drainage issue occasionally. - The robot had weird navigation quirks. For example, if there were two ways to get to a target cleaning zone, and it went one way that was blocked, it wouldn’t try and go around the other way. Instead it wouldn’t just dance around for ten minutes and then error out. Very frustrating. - The spinning mop pads weren’t very effective (not an Ecovacs specific complaint IMO). -Main and side brushes would tangle constantly. Last month we purchased the X8 Omni (while it was on sale), and it’s a significant improvement over the X1, with basically all my complaints remedied with design changes and improvements. The navigation can still be a little quirky, but this one seems to actually adapt if it can’t find its way to its target zone, and the obstacle avoidance (for us) is excellent. The old X1 would just spin around endlessly and then say it couldn’t get to its area. The new roller mop is SIGNIFICANTLY better, and the floors actually look clean after it’s used. We’ve only had it for a few weeks though, so my opinion is subject to change if this thing takes a dive, but so far we’re impressed with the new one. For comparison, I was considering waiting for the new MOVA or Narwal with the rolling mops (the main feature I wanted), but those weren’t available in the US yet.

10-12 years ago, I had a pair of Neato XV21s. They were fine. They were much better cleaners than my Deebot X1 Plus is. My Dreame D9 Max however, picks up better than the XV21s did, but I'm not totally wowed by how much better, so I don't think it's a lot. . I would hope that if you're talking about ones that are above the $200 mark, there would have been significant improvements since then. I can't find the specs on my old ones, but the D9 Max is rated for 4000 Pa, the X1 Plus 5000 Pa .. The X1 Plus's suction is *terrible* though in comparison to the D9. So I guess specs aren't everything. I had a Neato D8 that only lasted about 6 months (and the company offered to replace it, even after they had folded, but I couldn't find my receipt) that was rated for 2500Pa, and it was much better than the X1 Plus, too. With models out there exceeding 20k Pa on the top end, I'd hope there are improvements in the last decade!

I recently upgraded to the X9 from the X1 when the X9 was $500 off. The X9 seems to do much better mopping my floors and in just watching it operate it just seems smarter. So after three years of my X1 getting stuck in the middle of a room somehow, and the cleaning sink getting clogged, the X9 seems like an amazing upgrade so far.

Ok so I have bought 3 robovacs in the last month. a cheap roborock with no dock, a j15 ultra and a ecovacs omni. By far the best mapping was roborock. But the other two vacs are better as they mop and have docks. The eureka j15 pro ultra is the best but the ecovacs isn't much worse for half the price. I paid 250 for the roborock, 650 for the ecovacs and 1200 for the eureka j15. My favourite is the j15 pro ultra and its not much different to the j15 ultra going for 900 now. The battery lasts way longer than the ecovacs omni but both do about the same level of cleaning. I run both mine twice a day just to see how they go and my floors have never been cleaner, whatever way you go a robot vac is awesome. Just schedule in and it cleans, best m9ney I've spent in a while. And yes I do need a couple as I have a large house. This is australia pricing aswell and I bought on the Amazon sales so they were cheap.
