"wanted to upgrade for something that has better... specifically mopping ... I had seen it work hard on their floor and that convinced me well. ... it's all for my downstairs area which needs more mopping with pets getting h dirt or mud in"
"which runs 2-3 times a week, mopping. ... No complaints in the last 2 years, never gave me any trouble."
"I love the self washing mop option."

"the Ecovacs either had a way larger battery or used less battery because I used to use it on my second floor (all carpet, except the two washrooms) and would do the 3 bedrooms with two passes and the rest only one pass and it still had battery left."

"it is REALLY nice having it be mostly* automated ... The vacuum dustbin auto empty and mop washing is so nice. ... It ’s set it and forget it"
"Starts when I leave home and when I return it docks and empties. ... I barely see it."
"I've got the Ecovacs Omni with the docking station and it's great. ... Docking station is a must in my opinion. Especially if you have a larger home. It's the difference between the whole house being vacuumed, and just the remainder of the capacity in the robot, which varies depending on when you emptied it last."

"Since then, I have done 11 complete runs of my floor plan with no issues – literally no issues. It has completed each run perfectly, returned to the dock perfectly, and avoided all obstacles. ... To be fair, it really has been doing nearly perfectly since this initial problem. I would go so far as to say it’s doing better than the 10r which I also used at my house for several months. Though it’s close."
"my Ecovacs with lidar cruised through our open floorplan house and made the map in under 10 minutes ... the Ecovacs doesn't continuously override the map and add or delete rooms, move the base station to think it's *inside* the wall, or do any of the other idiocy that Roomba keeps doing"
"i always used to move the vacuum with the station upstairs and simply start and it works without changing maps."

"my omni was gross too and blocked itself in the drain pipe regularly."
"the base tends to get clogged up if I use the mopping feature"
"The docks mop cleaning ‘deck’ wasn’t removable, so cleaning was a huge pain. ... It would also have a drainage issue occasionally."

"I had to stop using scheduled runs after my X1 omni spread dog poo throughout the house (including rugs)."
"The robot had weird navigation quirks. For example, if there were two ways to get to a target cleaning zone, and it went one way that was blocked, it wouldn’t try and go around the other way. Instead it wouldn’t just dance around for ten minutes and then error out. Very frustrating. ... The old X1 would just spin around endlessly and then say it couldn’t get to its area."
"so unreliable at mapping and navigation now"

"the robot starts vacuum until it block itself saying that the wheel is stuck ... the right wheel is completely blocked it doesn't spin ... it works until the wheel blocks again"
"My ecovacs x1 omni often misses some debris while vacuuming"
"it struggles with pet hair tangles. ... I no longer have to clean hair out of the vacuum rollers."

"After not even 3 years on a 1.5k product, one would be better just buying a traditional high brand vacuum that can last much more than that. ... it's not worth it if it does last ... the "you get what you pay" didn't apply here"
"my X1 Omni broke after 2 years ... I had a few break downs in 2 years ... until the last one killed it for me"
"the main brush motor gear assembly is buried ... ALL of these, no matter who make them, have plastic gears in said motor assemblies -- they WILL fail over time ... when they do the availability of parts from other than "small packet" via China may be slim and none. ... These things are silly expensive to trash over a $20 part so parts access and capability to disassemble it and change components like this (and the parts are CHEAP -- if you can get them) is and should be a MAJOR consideration lest you wind up tossing it as soon as one of these parts go bad out of warranty."

We currently have an ecovacs omni x1 and it uses rotational. it gets most everything but the thing is so unreliable at mapping and navigation now and batteries are failing after about 2.5 years.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->I got one a few years ago the ecovacs deebot x1 omni because it came with the base station (very handy), and did the mopping. At the time it was one of the few that did both. I’m afraid I have no experience with others or more modern ones but my general findings: The mopping is really just a bit of a rinse, it’s not a deep clean, it just uses water, no detergent to help cleaning anything. It does not replace a proper clean of your floor. Useful for a daily hoover and mop of light dirt/marks. My one, which is old. If you want it to not mop you have to remove the mop heads from the bot. Hopefully modern ones have solved this as I basically never take them off so it’s only used in rooms with no carpet or rug as it’ll mop them up. I find the app and not decent, again I’ve got no experience of others. The base stations are big, need power etc, so make sure you’ve got a spot for it.
r/HENRYUKLifestyle • Good robot vacuum and mop all in one? ->I don’t agree on roller mops. They have small contact patches and bad edge cleaning. Also Ecovacs navigation has been poor consistently with maps getting corrupted over time. I’ve got a Dreame l40 ultra now and it has good edge cleaning, good mop pad cleaning and works more reliably than my two previous Ecovacs ever had. Downsides are that water tanks are too small so need to be filled too often in a larger house and the base gets very dirty and white plastic stains as it doesn’t manage to pull all the mop dirt into the dirty water tank. There were just too many bugs with Ecovacs kit and they abandon the new model within a month or two to focus on the next one. I’m sure Dreame are as bad but it doesn’t matter as much when the software actually works. My last Ecovacs was an x1 omni and added to the above problems is that the battery couldn’t clean the whole floor in one pass and recharge was so slow it would start again (only at 100%) in the evening which was mega annoying. Dreame also can’t do the whole floor but it charges much faster.
r/RobotVacuums • best robot for me? ->That makes complete sense, I have not come across your reviews nor read them. I'll be very honest. I just happen see this thread as I was scrolling by. I have an X1 Omni and well it's okay, the base tends to get clogged up if I use the mopping feature and I think the robot itself is starting to die. But I've had it now for 2 and 1/2 years and it's nice, but I don't think I'm going to buy another robot for a little while. I like what's out there, but I do agree with what you've commented on other people's posts that the consistency and quality difference between flagship bots is ridiculous.
r/RobotVacuums • I write about robot vacuums for a living. AMA. ->I like Roborock, but to be fair, Ecovacs does work, at least not worse than Roborock for me. My Roborock S5 is slowly retiring. It used to clean the bedroom's floor, then went downstairs to the living room's first floor, and now it is on a partial retirement in the office room - smallest and easiest to clean :) Downstairs is Ecovacs T8 OZMO, which runs daily, with almost 3,000 runs in its lifetime. Not a single problem! Upstairs is Ecovacs X1 Omni, which runs 2-3 times a week, mopping. No complaints in the last 2 years, never gave me any trouble.
r/ecovacs • Old vs new one 😌 ->Ours (X1 Omni) is about to be passed on to the next unlucky sod who’ll have to cope with its demented behaviours that can only be solved temporarily with off-and-on-again. We’ll have a Roborock S8 Ultra instead.
r/homeassistant • What is the best robot vacuum currently that's really worth buying? ->I’ve owned top of the range Ecovacs and Roborock. I’d buy Roborock again whenever I need one. I’d never buy another Ecovacs.
r/homeassistant • Best automatic robot vacuum? ->It was an X1 Omni, so not cheap. It went wrong after just a few weeks and was sent back for repair which took too long to be considered good service. And all the way through the damn thing has exhibited awfully strange behaviours, like getting lost, going round in circles, or coming out for a clean then returning to base immediately. And the cleaning sink gets blocked and fills up ever so easily. In a direct comparison with a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, there’s no contest. It’s Roborock every time.
r/homeassistant • Best automatic robot vacuum? ->Look for refurbished, second hand stuff. With a pair of gloves, wet tissues and some good ole elbow grease, you can save alot of money. Got an X1 Omni for about 130 USD second hand, nearly mint too. They are about 300 USD refurbished so no hassle in cleaning out the previous owner's gunk. You could prob get last year's flagships at your price point with this method quite easily, IMO the generation before all the novelty/first generation whacky features like the robo arms, threshold clearance stuff, roller mops (seems useful but still first gen), retractable Lidar (would love this on mine but still first gen). These are features which has not proven its utility with everyday users, as well as being likely not have its design flaws and kinks ironed out and is an additional mechanical/electrical motor point of failure.
r/RobotVacuums • What's the best robot in your opinion around ~$800? ->I bought a second hand X1 Omni, for about 130 USD. So far, not much complaints. But I can't really comment on the experience vs a Roborock or Dreame machine, only other experience of note is a week or 2 with the Roborock s5, which is hardly comparable
r/RobotVacuums • Are Ecovacs robovacs really that bad? ->I too went thru 5 ecovacs before giving up on them after my ecovacs x1 omni died just after 2.5 years of use. I'm ended up with the eureka j15 pro ultra but did have a bad camera and they replaced it for free after a bad review and Amazon returned my money so was completely free. I have been using it for about 1 month daily now and has been flawless and when I flipped it over for a monthly cleanup there was not 1 hair wrapped around the roller, couldn't believe it. One thing to consider is eureka support is slower than ecovacs if help is needed so keep that in mind. Ecovacs has always treated me well and went above and beyond to try and make things right if had a problem but after 5 bad robots in a row just couldn't trust the quality anymore. Good luck and hold on for the head spinning from all the positive and negative reviews of them all. Lol
r/RobotVacuums • Tired of Ecovacs – What’s the best alternative for pet hair and long-term durability? ->Just swapped from ecovacs. I can't speak to their newer models but my X1 Omni broke after 2 years and I'm completely SOL. I had a few break downs in 2 years and always fixed it myself until the last one killed it for me. Ecovacs customer service doesn't care once you're out of warranty. To be fair, all of these robot vacs have long term quality concerns. Most of the robot wars reviews are good but don't really address long term outside of aggregating Amazon reviews. I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger on a more budget model of another brand. I can handle it breaking after 2-3 years at $300 instead of $1000+.
r/ecovacs • Are the T50 robot vacuums really so terrible? ->I have the deebot omni x1 for over couple years now and I absolutely love it, my reasons to buy were same as your's btw. Now they have even more advanced model with internal blades so hair also does not get tangled. If you have carpets in your house, prolly also look for models where mopping pads can be lifted. Rest just get the cheapest model with a hub with dust bag and water storage for mopping. Recently recommended this to my friend and he is also absolutely satisfied - [https://amzn.to/462YpBG](https://amzn.to/462YpBG)
r/Frugal_Ind • Robotic vacuum cleaner recommendations? ->ikr, I bought my x1 omni at 85k and it seemed like a steal deal at that time. It does have another water container for dirty water, but practically it's just one more jar to empty without any real effect on the cleaning.
