We had an Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo and when it shat itself after just 3 months I sent it back, got a refund and bought a Q Revo S. Massive improvement. Still bits where it could improve too but this is a much better quality vac. Edit: and I was able to do the exact same integration with the zigbee scene buttons on the walls in my rooms, where anyone can press it once to summon the vac to that room, and double-press the button to cancel the request and send the vac back to base.

After my Ecovacs X1 Turbo shat itself within 3 months of buying I took it back for a refund and replaced it with a Roborock Q Revo S. Way way better and has HA support. I’ve not needed to root it or anything so far. I do wish the map management was better though. No way to delete rooms or individually remap them, and I’ve now got a bunch of no go zones all marked out around the outside of glass doors and low frame windows from where it’s seen through but can’t access.

I must say, it is REALLY nice having it be mostly* automated with even just a Deebot X1 from FBMP for ~$200 from my perspective. The vacuum dustbin auto empty and mop washing is so nice. It’s set it and forget it unless the robot gets stuck or breaks which can happen within any price range

10-12 years ago, I had a pair of Neato XV21s. They were fine. They were much better cleaners than my Deebot X1 Plus is. My Dreame D9 Max however, picks up better than the XV21s did, but I'm not totally wowed by how much better, so I don't think it's a lot. . I would hope that if you're talking about ones that are above the $200 mark, there would have been significant improvements since then. I can't find the specs on my old ones, but the D9 Max is rated for 4000 Pa, the X1 Plus 5000 Pa .. The X1 Plus's suction is *terrible* though in comparison to the D9. So I guess specs aren't everything. I had a Neato D8 that only lasted about 6 months (and the company offered to replace it, even after they had folded, but I couldn't find my receipt) that was rated for 2500Pa, and it was much better than the X1 Plus, too. With models out there exceeding 20k Pa on the top end, I'd hope there are improvements in the last decade!

I recently upgraded to the X9 from the X1 when the X9 was $500 off. The X9 seems to do much better mopping my floors and in just watching it operate it just seems smarter. So after three years of my X1 getting stuck in the middle of a room somehow, and the cleaning sink getting clogged, the X9 seems like an amazing upgrade so far.

My j5+ is really good with pet hair. No clogs or tangles. Long human hair does get stored inside the rollers, but will eventually wrap around the rollers My Ecovacs x1 and roborock s6 have a bristle brush that pet hair gets stuck in

I live by mine. Deebot with self emptying. Has full map and Lidar so barely gets caught. Starts when I leave home and when I return it docks and empties. I barely see it.
