No, I don't work at ilife xD. My family owned a iLife A4s for a long time. This is before all the fancy ones came out. Since, I've tried all the fancy ones. Like the ones up to $1000. But I ALWAYS just come back to this one. I love it so much and I seriously think robot vacuums are so good but when I see people saying "oh this $700 vacuum, its worth the price" I just get it out of curiosity just to see how good it is Each time, I've come back to the iLife A4s. Its even hard to buy nowadays, but just wanted to share that. I hope you guys try it, its not as smart obviously and has no good functionality other than just a. dumb robot going around, but it ACTUALLY picks up things. A lot of the fancy ones literally dont to me

r/FrugalIs it worth paying more for a robot vacuum if it makes cleaning easier?

If you get one, save the packaging and buy the extended warranty so you can get a refund when it dies. My first two (different manufacturers) lasted about 2 years each and then behaved erratically, spinning in place or repeatedly ramming furniture. Sending them back for repairs was too pricey so I trashed them. The third one I bought was an iLife which was only $180, and it lasted about 3 years, until the rechargeable battery died. I trashed that too because I couldn’t find a replacement battery that fit the compartment. It was a weird triangle shape. iLife said they didn’t sell those as replacement parts and didn’t have any suggestions on where I could obtain one.

r/Frugal_IndIs it worth getting robot vacuum cleaner as a long term investment?

Whichever brand you plan to buy, first understand how the service works. For ilife I had to ship it to Delhi and was asked to pay 3/4th of the entire unit cost to repair. Its all good until it stops working. So, have a clear understanding of the warranty, parts covered and most of all, where are the service centre’s.

I tried many of the name brand vacuum robots - iRobot, Eufy, Shark. They’re all so disappointing and SO expensive. Mapping is a joke. So is mopping. Right now I have two iLIFE robots. They are cheap and brainless but have good vacuum suction and do a decent job except when it comes to getting stuck under objecting, attempting to suck up cat toys, electrical cables, and clean corners. LOL! Why two? These are cheap so I bought one and then said to myself, you are going to regret not buying a replacement. And at $200 a piece I am fine with that.

Battery costs 2k. My 2019 robo still runs. But its battery lasts only for 1 hr instead of 2 hrs when it was new. Dont trash your robo because a spare part is gone bad. Buy a robo which has spares available.

r/RobotVacuumsHow do you guys make your robot vacuums last longer?

Ive had two iLife vacuums for 10 years and a Roborock for 2 years. They work perfectly fine. Specifically for the iLife robots, I’ve replaced batteries, brushes, filters, motors and taken them apart and deep cleaned them. Just fyi — dust/hair buildup on the motors and electrical components like the circuit board inside the unit is an environment that can heat up things up. Heat is the WORST thing for electronics. Taking apart your vacuums (if you are comfortable doing so) and deep cleaning them every 6-12 months or so is paramount in keeping them lasting a long time. AliExpress/Amazon is your best friend for parts ;)

I have a knockoff, cheaper ILIFE. It's 4 years old and still works great. I do one room at a time, (block off doorways with folded step ladder or chairs) and empty it after every room. I run it every day while doing other chores or outside stuff. I only have to vacuum a couple times a week with the vacuum cleaner. The ILIFE mops too and does a pretty good job although I still get the Swifter out and hand mop if the floors are really messy. My Dane sheds almost as much as the Pry, but small hairs you don't really see until I empty the vacuum.
