We have a REALLY OLD Roomba (I think it's the 300 model, so like 10+ years old). Our lab is now gone to the great beyond, but we would indeed run in on our hardwood and tile floors every week. It picked up hair, yes, but it also *clogged* up with hair pretty quickly. It was more work to run/stop/unclog/restart the Roomba than it was to just sweep most of the time. What worked much better for us was a legit dust mop. We used the Rubbermaid Hygen system, so the adjustable handle and [this head frame.](https://www.rubbermaidcommercial.com/cleaning/hygen-microfiber/hygen-quick-connect-frames/) It uses velco to attach a range of cleaning pads; we'd use a dust mop to collect hair, then a wet mop to clean our hardwoods. Our local hospital uses the same Hygen system and it's been great for us. It was 10x faster than the Roomba and worked much better.

We have the i3 without the tower. It works ok. It helps, it still doesn’t get everything but it makes the floors look ok for a minute.

I have one basic Roomba that moves around randomly and another that supposedly maps the space. The cheaper, random movement robot is vastly superior in all ways.

Roomba i2 was good at keeping things in control, but it could not get cat hair out of the carpet as well as our Shark Rotator. On the hardwood it was great.

I’ve been seeing the roomba I-versions (i3, i7 etc) gently used on Facebook marketplace. It’s not perfect and some of the programming is annoying but for the most part it does a good job on our carpet with our dogs. I still run the real vacuum once a month or maybe every 2 weeks but the roomba helps a lot. I have one without the self empty so I’m looking to pick one up with it

The other commenters seem like theirs is quieter than the shark. We can have a conversation while it’s running which was a huge improvement over the roomba i3 we replaced. We have it run when we leave the house for the day so we are not usually watching tv while it goes

I bought a roomba i3 in 2020, and it's still working fine Every part is easily replaced, and there is lifetime support that I use once to replace the battery Although that was before it was bought by Amazon, I don't know if it's still the same

Oh! I didn't know It's still robust and serviceable, but yeah, parts might be hard to find soon

For vac only, especially on carpet the roomba i3 on Amazon in like new condition was $70 last week. It’s $100 now but worth keeping an eye on it for a really cheap vacuum only robot. Especially on carpet the roomba 2 roller vacs do really well.

100%. I got a roomba i3 for under $50 and it vacuums on carpet really well. The roller design matters a lot, can’t believe some higher end models still have a single roller. Even with the patent expiring they still cheap out.

Roomba i3 on Amazon like new for $60. The base station came very used and clogged, complained to Amazon and got a full refund without having to return it. Does pretty well for my upstairs carpet only.
