We had a irobot j7… i got a lemon. It broke every 4 months and i had to beg them to send me repair parts. After 1.5 years i gave up. For the price, i wont ever buy a robot vac again. That said, this is not bifl, and i know people hate dyson - but we picked up the dyson detect v12 slim and it’s been life changing for us on vacuuming the house w a golden retriever that sheds himself completely every day (mild exaggeration). Do your own research or whatever. But this is my “buy if for as long as the technology will last” advice.
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->I had electrolux pi92 and it was great but developed dead battery. So then I got iRobot j7 and it was good but iRobots bump into everything. Then I got Dyson 360 visnav and I couldn't believe how amazing it is.
r/RobotVacuums • Which is the best robot vacuum that you have used. ->J7 is garbage. The obstacle avoidance is better but everything else is much worse. It’s super loud, doesn’t clean as well, and it takes forever to clean. It’s less thorough and less efficient. I had 2 of them for a couple years and overall the pro (and slim) are both a million times better.
r/Roborock • Qrevo Master/Pro obstacle avoidance is extremely sub par ->The qrevo actually finishes its job more frequently than the j7 did for me. The j7 got stuck often, maybe 1 out of 4 cleanings it either sucked up a cat toy or jammed itself under something. Noise at least on hardwood is easily double the qrevo and it takes at least 2x the amount of time to clean the house. In my experience, which is several years with 2 j7’s and now about 6 months with qrevo’s it isn’t even close.
r/Roborock • Qrevo Master/Pro obstacle avoidance is extremely sub par ->irobot roomba j7 is very quiet, it recognizes obstacles and cleans hard floors perfectly. https://www.irobot.co.uk/en_GB/irobot-roomba-j7/J715840.html
r/RobotVacuums • best robotvacuum for no carpet, no pets, chaotic messy people, quiet, £400 in UK ->you’re wrong. roomba J-series with obstacle detection will never run over even the thinnest cable. even if it is a small part of the cable.
r/RobotVacuums • best robotvacuum for no carpet, no pets, chaotic messy people, quiet, £400 in UK ->Due to the pets, you'll want an irobot j7 or newer. The reason is it's the only brand with a bin full sensor. The pet hair will clog most others
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot vacuum is a workhorse? ->I bought an irobot j7. It will do all of those things from an app. But I don't know what all the letters (IFTTT) mean in your question, so this might not help.
r/RobotVacuums • Home Assistant / Automation of Robot Vacuum? Best buy? ->My dog is almost 15 and she poops where she wants at this point unfortunately. The moral of this story is don’t send your robot out before policing the area for shady objects. I’ve had lots of robots the only one I’d say was almost perfect was the iRobot j7 but it didn’t do great at the actual cleaning part.
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->The L60 doesn't have true obstacle avoidance only Lidar(so it can only see tall, solid objects, but not loose clothes), but otherwise is an excellent value. For true obstacle avoidance(like where it can ultra low objects like clothes or cables on the ground)your best bet would be a Roomba J7, but it will be slightly above your budget until it goes on sale. There is very few true robot vacuums with good obstacle avoidance, and most of them come with a dock and a price tag to match unfortunately. This Narwhal unit looks promising as well and is under $500 CAD as part of the limited time sale. r/RobotVacuums • Best robot with no base station? ->I just replaced my J7 and Narwal last week (2 of them). I had the M6 prior and it's simply awful. I got the Eufy e28. It's terrific. I know that you had issues years ago, but they came a long way. I've cleaned my entire house 4 or 5 times, and it barely used any water. I think that it should last weeks before refilling.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum+mop for me? ->The 9xx are robust creatures. 960 cleaning should be comparable to J7. J9 has better cleaning than both. The obstacle avoidance features in J7 will make it a lot less likely to get caught on things, but also likely to stay away from things you may want it to clean The robot itself doesn't have that much more that could break. The j series are easy maintenance I'd be concerned about battery on a 9xx since they are old, may need to buy a new one.
r/roomba • Roomba 960 VS J7+ ( both from IRobot Ebay refurbished store) ->I have the IRobot j7 and it transformed my life. Maybe once a month it will try to swallow a charging cord or a sock but other wise is pretty flawless and sometimes my dog is in the trouble pictures it sends if it encounters an obstacle. I only take out my regular vac once every 2 months or so. No dust bunnies under my bed or couch.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->I’ll copy my “review” (not really a review, just some quick impressions after week 1) from another comment in case it’s useful to anyone: I’ve had mine for a week now, previously had a Neato D85, an iRobot J7, and a Roborock Q Revo. So far, it’s a great mop, an alright vacuum, and a functional work in progress on the software side. The great: - First of all, there’s nothing that comes close in terms of mopping. The amount of dirt the S1 lifts of my floors after they are mopped by a housekeeper and a Q Revo is astonishing. - Second, both the vacuum and the dock are probably the best built out of all I’ve owned. I do question piano black and gloss plastic on a robot vacuum, but it sure does look good. The good: - Despite using a new kind of lidar design, pathing is solid. On the current firmware (.33), the robot is definitely too cautious about edges and height clearance. The upcoming version currently in limited release (.40) swings the other way, it makes the vacuum overly aggressive and brave. The only significant gripe I have with pathing is the lack of programming to mop along the edge of carpets where the robot lifted the mop on the first pass. - Obstacle avoidance is generally on par with the J7. It does struggle in low contrast environments and the lack of an LED light doesn’t help, but overall it’s more than enough for the vacuum to run daily without prep. - The maintenance is easier than expected. The dirty water tank adds a couple of steps to the weekly routine, but it still takes less than 10 minutes. The not so good: - It is a loud one. Not quite as loud as the J7, but noticeably louder than the Q Revo. The auto-empty cycle is also longer than other robots, about double that of the J7. Even mop drying (that runs for 4 hours) makes a noticeable noise. Not an issue for me, but I would not put the dock in the bedroom. - Firmware is not quite there. A few times, the robot had randomly stopped in the middle of a run with a notification that doesn’t make sense (e.g. “dust collection stopped”, or “mop washing stopped”…while it’s not on the dock). Pathing could be improved so that empty/wash cycles work in synergy with the cleaning plan, edges are vacuumed and mopped more closely, and areas around edges of rugs are re-mopped after they are detected. - Clean water tank is smaller than I’d like, refill is every 2-3 days for a 1700 square foot house. Overall, very impressed by this effort from Eufy and I think I will end up keeping it despite the kinks because of how well it mops.
r/RobotVacuums • Eufy S1 Pro mopping is seriously good ->A number of vacuums can avoid cables pretty well (although none are no foolproof): iRobot J series, Roborock models with camera-based object recognition (except the Q Revo MaxV for whatever reason), Eufy S1, Dreame models with camera-based object recognition all come to mind. Your bigger problem will be that nothing on the market reliably avoids horizontal chair legs that are located lower than a typical house threshold. You will need to add extension to them so that the vacuum’s bumper gets engaged on contact.
r/RobotVacuums • Anyone has experience with Robo vacuum that can avoid obstacle like cables and horizontal parts furniture? ->More than a vacuum without a dirty water tank, but really not that much. I can’t say I feel a noticeable difference in the time I spend on it compared to the Q Revo and J7 I had before. There are more parts, but the vacuum is designed quite well, so all remove/replace operations are easy. The house is mopped 3x a week and vacuumed 5x/week. This is what I do every weekend: - Empty and rinse the dock dirty water tank, fill the clean water tank, put both back. - Remove the vacuum from the dock. Take out and rinse the mop washing tray. - Take off the top cover. Take out dust bin, bang out the filter, rinse both and leave out to dry. - Take out the dirty water tank, remove the main filter and three small filter plugs, rinse all out and leave out to dry. Flip the vacuum upside down. - Take out the vacuum brush, remove hair from both ends, rinse and leave out to dry - Slide off the mop roller, rinse and leave out to dry - Remove side brushes, remove hair tangles, put back on - After a few hours of drying time, reassemble everything. I also plan to take out and clean the caster wheel once every couple of months, but haven’t gotten to that point yet. So far, these operations take me maybe 15 minutes once a week, probably less.
r/RobotVacuums • Roller-Mop Robot Vacuums? Or mop-only? ->I’m looking to upgrade my setup. Currently, I have iRobot j7 + braava m6. Some background: * 1,500 sqft home. 800 sq ft hardwood; 200 sqft tile; 500 sqft low pile carpet * I ran a cycle on tile and hardwood every night after we go to bed. Currently, I don’t like that I have to keep lights on and that the cleaning takes about 4 hours total. ~1 hr for single pass vacuum; 3 hours for mopping. * Carpets are in the bedrooms and get cleaned 2-3x per week. * Braava is very high maintenance for me - refills and mop wash daily. Would love to have something less hands on. * I tend to tidy before the vacuum cycle and remove all obstacles (e.g., put dining chairs on top of dining table). * My current setup feels pretty noisy in two different ways, first there is pretty high noise from the vacuum. Secondly, they bump into bedroom doors loudly while cleaning. I’ve set up a no go zone in front of the bedroom doors but I keep removing it before the carpet clean and adding it back in. Quite a pain in the butt. * thresholds between rooms are minimal * no pets. One 1-yo child who makes a mess eating. I currently sweep before vacuuming. Would love to live in a world where I don’t have to tidy so much after dinner 😅 * wife has long thick hair that often tangles up in the j7 rollers. My first robot vacuum was an old eufy close to 8 years ago and I had bad experience with that brand. I’m in Canada. Budget under $2.5k CAD if needed but won’t mind going lower too. I’ve looked at so many reviews and machines. For a while I was thinking of getting Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, QRevo Curv, Saros 10R. But at the same time there seem to be so many other machines that I’m overwhelmed. This is also not burning. If there are some new great models coming out soon, I can wait. Please help!
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum+mop for me? ->I have a roomba j7 and I have two dogs, it's great with dog hair
r/CleaningTips • Best Robot Vacuum And is it worth it? ->Probably the Roomba J7/ J7+ (original non-mop version). It's great with carpet and likely has the best obstacle avoidance for a vacuum-only robot.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best vacuum only robot out there? ->I have a J7 as well and it works pretty good but there have been some times when it disconnects from WiFi and I would have to reset the whole vacuum and go through the set up again for it to work again. I think I got my first one about 5 years ago though, so maybe it's been updated since
r/RobotVacuums • Has cleaning performance improved much in the last 10+ years? ->They were joking cause J6 and Jan 6 sound the same. That being said, the J6 is slightly different than the J7 in that they’ve software locked object awareness to the J7, J8 (official Costco model), J9. The J6 is their unspoken “budget” flagship to the J7. In the Same way the J5+ is the “budget” model of the J9+ super similar but missing some key conveniences. I would actually recommend the J7 over the J6 if it’s possible for a good price but idk if I’d spend an extra 400-500 on it just for the object detection over other options.
r/roomba • J6 @ Costco for $350. Good entry roomba? ->I got a J7 and a robo rock q5+ max or whatever it’s called. The roomba was $700 the Roborock was half or less. I think the Roborock is better
r/homeimprovementideas • Which are the best robot vacuums you'll recommend for pet hair now? ->You should get the J7 which is only $262 right now at Walmart and Amazon. All Roomba’s do well on hard floors and exceptionally well on carpet. If you want mopping you might want to get the J5 or a J7 combo which will cost a bit more.
r/roomba • Best roomba for hardwood /floors ->Roborock Qrevo Curv for downstairs (sealed hardwood) and a Roomba J7 for upstairs (fully carpeted)
r/RobotVacuums • Can robot vacuum truly deep clean your home? ->Just don't want to lug one up and down LOL. It gets annoying since I run it everyday. The Curv is fine on carpets but I just don't trust the mop pad not dripping onto the carpet and there's more space downstairs anyways so I might as well take advantage of its mopping ability. The Roomba does excellent on carpets though. I've been using Roomba's since the Roomba 416 was released and that was a longgggg time ago. iRobot just isn't innovative anymore.
r/RobotVacuums • Can robot vacuum truly deep clean your home? ->We have 4 cats and currently use a Roomba J7. It's programmed to vacuum once a day, and it does a good job of keeping the fur contained. We do have an upright vacuum that we also use, but the Roomba does a good job for us.
r/BuyItForLife • Pet owners, what's the best robot vacuum for TONS OF PET HAIR that's worked really well? ->Do you really want to deal with mop water? When floors need mopping just get out a traditional mop and roller bucket. You don’t need a 2000 dollar vacuum. Most of the hardware is the same. Software quality is not. A roomba j7 will navigate around all chairs and do what you need a robot vacuum to do.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->I got a refurbished roomba j7 on Amazon for $200 and it’s been great! Don’t be afraid of refurb! My refurbished Dyson stick vac from Amazon is still going strong after 10 years of use, only needed a couple battery changes.
r/homeimprovementideas • Robot vacuum for home - what is the best under $500 ->My J7 also quit a couple of weeks ago. We are 1 week in to a new 505. It has a slicker app. Always knows where it is. With the lidar, it barely hits anything. All that said, it's not cleaning as well as the j7 did. We have all hard floors with area rugs It turns the suction up and down (I'm assuming to save battery) as it transitions from hard to carpet. In effect it just leaves a pile of junk next to all the rugs. It does a slightly better job in the kitchen where there are no rugs, but it always leaves noticable missed dirt that it has hit, but just pushed around. Not sure that I would not recommend, but I also wouldn't actively recommend either
r/roomba • What is your favorite robot vacuum on the market? ->I also run a roomba j7 3 times a day + the x2 2 times a week because I have all hard wood flooring and I cannot deal with cat litter on my feet
r/RobotVacuums • Any good options for long pet hair, aside from the Roombas with rubber rollers? ->We have 2 Roomba J7’s and they work well with the iOS app. Our main floor runs on a consistent schedule and the downstairs runs when I leave the house so it’s not running while I’m in the home office.
r/roomba • What is a good robot vacuum for people that use on the Apple devices? ->I had a roomba j7 for a while , it was great. They have (had?) a try before you buy option for 30 days and I loved it for those 30 days. I only gave it back because at the time I assumed they would come out with a new model with more suction since we have a lot of deep carpets , but that never materialised. I did have to keep my floors more clear than before but that takes less time than vacuuming would have and the end result is a house that is cleaner and neater. There was a lot of kickback from the family that such a thing was useless and we can just vacuum ourselves (which is a dumb argument since dishwashers and washing machines and loads of other tools for making life easier exist and are normalised) but after a month with it the family also loved it.
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->They're the same device from everything I've seen. I have the J6+ and it's great.
r/roomba • J6 @ Costco for $350. Good entry roomba? ->In addition to legal representation, as Brazilians we have to think about durability, and in this regard iRobot is far superior. I have a 980 that has been working since 2019 without any parts being replaced. I also have two J7s, one of which is the paus.
r/roomba • iRobot vs Others: How to Choose Your Robot Vacuum? ->I've had the roomba brand for years, and it's been amazing. I have hip length hair, and it gathers it no problem. I also have 4 dogs inside and used to have a cat. I only had to buy a new one after 6 years because it went through dog vomit under my bed, and I stupidly sprayed it with water in an attempt to clean and fried the mother board. But my new one is on year 2 or 3 now and it's great! I think it's the J7 model?
r/greatpyrenees • Do you guys have any robot vacuum success stories?! Or bad ones? ->It’s definitely worse than my roomba J7, which is 4 years old.
r/Roborock • Is the AI and obstacle avoidance really that bad? ->The software is different. The J7 will attempt to avoid any small obstacle while the J6 only avoids power cords and pet waste. That in itself is a pretty big difference.
r/roomba • J6 @ Costco for $350. Good entry roomba? ->The J7 “gets confused” more often because it’s built to avoid all obstacles (socks, toys, etc) while the J6 only avoids cords and pet waste. I’d rather have more false positives than it not avoid anything at all.
r/roomba • J6 @ Costco for $350. Good entry roomba? ->I bought a Roomba J7 just recently when it was half-price on Amazon. I have hair that covers my shoulderblades and I’ve lived in my apt for two years without vacuuming. I was very ashamed and knew I needed to tackle this problem. The side brush picked up a HUGE hairball while mapping my apartment—I cut that off. On the initial vacuum, the brushes picked up a bunch more hair—I pulled them out and got all that off. Each task was very easy and took less than 5 min, and the Roomba never stopped running due to the hair. Now I have the Roomba on a 3x/week schedule and hair isn’t a problem at all. I STRONGLY recommend the Roomba j7.
r/roomba • I have long hair and I shed too much ->Avoid that, it's a generic (ODM) model based on the same platform as the Xiaomi E10/12, which if I remember correctly is from 3irobotix or SilverStar. Look up some reviews of those Xiaomi models on Amazon and you'll understand how much of a poor product it is. Get a "real" Roomba, they're much better than that. Some examples are the i3/i5, or if you need the mop, the Combo i5 or Combo j5. If you can spend a bit more, the j7 is another good one.
r/roomba • iRobot Roomba Combo 2 Essential - Reviews? ->Roborock S7 is shit with carpets. Have a look at a refurbished Roomba j7 if you need obstacles avoidance, or a refurbished Roomba 980 if you don't (and don't need many "smarts"). Bear in mind they'll need light to run. No lights possible? Then looks at Roomba i3 and Roborock Q5 Max/Pro. Avoid all Eufy stuff.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Value for money Robot for only vacuum for ~60sqm carpeting? Anything beats the S7 vfm? ->We have a roomba j7 and shark matrix. The roomba is "smarter" but the shark is more adventurous. They both do alright. We have a lab/golden mix dog and a cat.
r/BuyItForLife • Pet owners, what's the best robot vacuum for TONS OF PET HAIR that's worked really well? ->The roomba j7 has really good object avoidance. At the end of every run it gives you pictures of what it had to avoid and also gives you the option to have it clean those spots again once the obstacles are gone or you can mark them as a permanent obstacle and it will avoid permanently and stop asking about it.
r/RobotVacuums • Is there a robot vacuum I don’t have to babysit? ->If you want it to avoid clutter, it needs to have a camera. I have Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids clutter very well. I leave a lot of boxes, bags, plants, thing I need to put away that I temporarily place not far away from its base and it does a lot better job at avoiding it than Roomba J7 I had. When Roombas generally spot an obstacle, they tend to do a big circle around the obstacle and they can get lost because of it.
r/RobotVacuums • Do any robot vacuums actually avoid/not get stuck by clutter? ->We have a dyson stick for actual vacuuming and a roomba j7 we run every day for maintenance. You can’t do just a roomba. The Dyson is by far the better option. No cord means I can just run it for 5-10 min a day and one level is completely clean. If I had to pick one I’d do just the dyson but man it’s nice to open an app and let it vacuum while I do everything else. With long hair you have to clean the brushes a lot so it’s not entirely hands off but it’ll go around a decent amount before they’re useless.
r/dogs • Is any of the robot (Roomba style) vacuums worth it for long haired dog hair? ->Everything I read said J6 and J7 are the same. We've had a J6 for a couple years. Moved into a house with 2 levels, so "needed" a second one. Bought a J7 ... Guess what? They are physically different (the dust bins for starters). And the J7 "gets confused" more often than the J6.
r/roomba • J6 @ Costco for $350. Good entry roomba? ->Does it leave streaks when mopping? My roomba j7 does always get stuck on hairs from my big dog… and it’s so annoying… i’m considering buying this eureka model too. And my bravaa jet does constantly leave streaks when mopping. I hate it. My dog brings in a lot of dust on her paws… despite we clean the paws before coming in the house. So i need something very good. ‘Cause i’m tired of it… i still have work despite the robots… i’m looking for something for daily use.
r/RobotVacuums • Eureka J15 Pro ultra reviews? ->I would go for a j7 all day. If you want a bare bones i4,…..I have many many many and would send one for the cost of shipping. It won’t have removable bits, but you just take off your i4 and re use. Or if your wheels are real worn, I can throw in a pair free too.
r/roomba • Roomba 960 VS J7+ ( both from IRobot Ebay refurbished store) ->I got a roomba J7 based on their review because I didn’t have room for a robot docking station. They’re pretty thorough in their testing.
r/RobotVacuums • How do we feel about Vacuum Wars ratings? ->I have a J7. No room for an autoempty dock but it works great as-is for us.
r/roomba • What Roomba should I get? ->The comment about robot vacuums only being for small places is probably based on the old random pattern robots. Most robots now map and do well in large houses. It sounds like most mapping robots would work for you, since you don't want mopping, have hardfloors, and no pets. So anything with lidar (prefered) or vslam navigation. Obstacle avoidance might be a useful feature for cords, shoes, toys etc. left on the ground. It might be worth looking into a Eufy L60, iRobot Roomba j series, Roborock Q series, or shark. I'm biased because I have three robot vacs (Roborock S6, Ecovacs x1 omni, and iRobot Roomba j5+ combo) and my roomba j5+ is the only one that is reliable and working at the moment
r/RobotVacuums • I'm searching for my first robot vacuum under a budget! ->iRobot is likely the longest lasting brand, there are many accounts of people having these bots for so many years and well over 1k hours.. iRobot are still providing parts for 12+ year old bots. Where is the planned obsolescence there?
r/RobotVacuums • I'm searching for my first robot vacuum under a budget! ->The combo 10 max (almost the same obstacle avoidance as all other modern/j-series iRobot models) initially scored in vacuum war's top ten for obstacle avoidance. It's also the only brand that guarantees avoidance of pet poo. Battery is debatable, but it's also a non-issue for most because of charge and resume
r/RobotVacuums • I'm searching for my first robot vacuum under a budget! ->The extra suction can't hurt, but these bots really rely heavily on mechanical agitation and extraction. Unfortunately manufacturers use suction for marketing, which tricks people into thinking that is what determines cleaning performance. Now you get models from other manufacturers with really high suction figures like 12,000 pascals, yet struggle to pick up lint balls from carpet. Often because the roller doesn't even contact the carpet enough
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->The j7 and j5 have the same obstacle avoidance as the j9
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->All have pretty poor customer service. I have three bots (Ecovacs, Roborock, and iRobot) and recommend the roomba i or j series for vacuum only (especially if you have carpet). It's designed for longevity rather than features. My j5+ has been reliable and kept up with 2 shedding dogs (long hair border collie cross) and two people
r/RobotVacuums • Robot Vacuum rec for 2 dogs ->Avoid Roomba j7/j7+. Just replaced a Roomba 980 with it, and new one is useless by comparison. Sure it knows its way around but what is bad is it picks up less than 25% of what the 980 got.
r/homeassistant • What's the best robot vacuum for home currently? ->I have a J7 (non-mop) and love it. But I say you kind of need to “want” to love it, because it takes quite a while to vacuum the whole place, and every so often it gets stuck on something. IMO the benefit of not vacuuming myself is worth coming home to a stuck vacuum every so often, but if you have a messy floor that could be a bigger problem (I keep mine very tidy) I will say this - get one with a dumpster! The little bin in the robot itself is tiny and constantly needs emptying, but the dumpsters with bags are good for much longer, and also cleaner to empty. But another option, hire a house keeper. Problems solved, if you can afford it.
r/malelivingspace • Best Robot Vacuums most commonly picked during this time period? ->Pretty darn happy with my roomba j7/9. Comes with a base station that it blows the content into. Super low maintenance that way.
r/germanshepherds • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Worth Buying Currently? ->Just gonna tell you, the mops work very very well. Not sure where you heard they don’t, but if you wanna if you insist on going vacuum only, I recommend iRobot. They are the best at vacuuming and have great customer support. I’d say j5, j7, j9, will all be great.
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->Oh ok, I can’t argue with that logic. If you have pets I’d suggest you go the extra mile and get the j9+ since it’s very good for pet hair. Regardless, you’ll love the j5.
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->Obstacle avoidance should the number one priority for if this is what you want to achieve. The Samsung Jet Bot AI is the king of the hill in this regard but has some limitations and issues elsewhere. The J series Roombas by iRobot are the most well rounded obstacle avoiders when factoring in cost, parts availability, filtration performance, customer service, and overall refinement. Neither are perfect.
r/RobotVacuums • Is there a robot vacuum I don’t have to babysit? ->All the i and j7 and below series vacuums have the same motor. Only the s9 and j9 have more suction, the s9 is actually better suction. On hard floors any of them will pick up the hair. The s9 will do very well on the area rugs. Not worth buying the combo models.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->The IRobot J series is quite terrible. They don't seem to have enough traction while mopping even on their lowest setting and using plain water, it'll just start sliding and not go in a straight line. Then it'll give up and be in the middle of a room. Also, the vacuuming is good with its dual rubber brushes but it seems the brushes pull up some of the moisture from the mop and then dust will clump up along with pet hair and clog before getting into the bin. I should've done more research than going with a Roomba. But I do like the obstacle avoidance.
r/RobotVacuums • Tell me something you wish you knew about robot vacuums before you bought one? ->The I and J series clean so much better than the 2 Essential. Even the lowest priced I series is well worth the extra money.
