"literally NOTHING robot works like an iRobot that I’ve seen so far esp the j7 and the 988 those are the strongest in their class"
"j9+ since it’s very good for pet hair."
"I have hip length hair, and it gathers it no problem. ... I also have 4 dogs inside and used to have a cat."

"I had my first for >10 years before I upgraded and no complaints with the one I have"
"My fav part is the robustness, if it encounters a huge problem, the only parts that break are those (and then rarely) are those meant to swap out."
"I only had to buy a new one after 6 years because it went through dog vomit under my bed, and I stupidly sprayed it with water in an attempt to clean and fried the mother board. ... But my new one is on year 2 or 3 now and it's great!"

"my J7s with the wall sensors perfectly ride along the edge barely touching them. But close enough for the edge sweeper to do its job."
"I think my J7 dragged a charging cord once in 3yrs."

"it's the navigation that is problematic (hard hitting walls/furniture, poor coverage, and getting lost)"
"J series especially has dumb pathing issues."
"J7 gets stuck at the top of a "cliff" (stairs) from time to time, and the J5 never did."

"I don’t like that I have to keep lights on ... iRobot heavily relies on cameras for navigation and doesn’t work well in the dark because of that"
"Heads up on Roombas: they require enough ambient light for their cameras to work. They're not into LiDAR navigation, which would allow them to do their job at night with all the lights off."

"The amount of time it spends vacuuming everyday is about 2 hours and I still need to break out the clunky corded vacuum. ... doesn't clean well enough to justify its price"
"the j7 was excessively slow when the spaces were filled with furniture, like the living room"
"the cleaning takes about 4 hours total. ~1 hr for single pass vacuum"

"My Roomba is loud and annoying ... listening to the vacuum for 2 hours basically do nothing has gotten extremely annoying."
"pretty high noise from the vacuum"
"He's also not the quietest, but I don't necessarily mind it unless I have a meeting scheduled at the same time (I work from home), but I can just pause him with the app on my phone at any time."
2 dogs as well and the last robot (dreame) could not handle the hair, but the Older J7 roomba no mop did a great job. the Narwal flow and the Ecovacs are at the top of the list right now. Next week and in November are possible launches for newer vac/mops so we will see. cant say much on the wifi issue
I know I came from the J7 worked well and then the contract ended, not interested in paying for something beyond its price and it was starting to have issues, so we retired it and went with d and 7 months later it's not what they said it would be and IRo better get their game together fast or the once leader in floor robots will be gone and all that will be left is.......
I bought MO on a Amazon Prime Days sale - refurbished. Roomba i or j7 or similar, I forget. And I got the tower with him which is the ONLY way I will ever own one of these robots again, after a period of time where I had a dust cup error and had to find a dusty/grimy robot, flip him over, empty the cup and then reseat it without errors. The tower holds a bag where the cup can be emptied, especially if it fills up halfway through the run. I do not ever want to manually have to do this with a robot vacuum. I \*hate\* dust cups even on stick vacuums. He is not the sole link between dirty floors and clean for me. I still have to vacuum with my full-size vacuum, but I have to vacuum less (once a month if no one comes over) and I can keep the main vacuum upstairs now. I love how he can be scheduled, MWF at 10am. I have joked at times he is the most reliable guy in my life. He is happiest on an open floor plan with steady borders (furniture stays in one place and there are no random piles of objects or clothes or toys appearing) and no changes in floor level (my old house had a sunken 2nd living room I had to tell him didn't exist or he'd get stuck). Cords and anything with dangling strings are the worst enemy. And he will suck up little legos or earrings without you knowing that he did. But his existence does help me with keeping the floor cleaner, for him. He can go under our new IKEA sofa which worries me, but at the same time I just picked up a backpack and a purse a few moments ago so he won't be impeded on his next run. I'm letting him map the place and I may block off areas again as needed. He's not always a perfect perpetual self-maintaining tool. He's having a problem in the new house with getting seated on his base with the charging ports properly so he charges every time. I'll have to troubleshoot that. In the old house he'd get stuck on sunken areas or wedge under furniture frequently and if not rescued promptly, he runs out of juice. I would usually have to send the kids to hunt him down and rescue him. He's also not the quietest, but I don't necessarily mind it unless I have a meeting scheduled at the same time (I work from home), but I can just pause him with the app on my phone at any time. Noise also helps the cats know he's coming and they just give him a wide berth. Oh and if you get one, buy the bulk packs of non-branded replacement parts off Amazon - way cheaper and just as good. The base takes vacuum bags and he has a rubber beater "brush", sweeper side brushes and a filter that all wear out over time (couple times a year). I keep an eye on them and the app keeps track of the expected life of each. He also needs googly eyes - I have been remiss in this. But he's a part of my household now. I am chronically ill so there have been times in the past few years that he was the ONLY vacuuming that got done and he helped us keep a much cleaner house.
I have the j7 and I have taken it apart more than once to clean it and I'm not super happy with it. I got it at Costco so it might go back before they go belly up. I'll try it again a few more days but I didn't even have it plugged in for 6 months... because we had renovations going on in the house. It's Black Friday week but I prefer to buy from Costco because they do have such a good return policy.
I have a roomba j7 and I have two dogs, it's great with dog hair
Single one. I had a J7 before, dual rollers. For now, I didn’t notice a drop in quality for vacuuming with a single roller. I ran a full house cleaning run yesterday and we we’re impressed with the results.
We have 4 cats and currently use a Roomba J7. It's programmed to vacuum once a day, and it does a good job of keeping the fur contained. We do have an upright vacuum that we also use, but the Roomba does a good job for us.
That is crazy. Even my Roomba j7 will periodically empty with no manual intervention.
I just bought the Roborock QX Revo from Costco. I’m moving my Roomba j7 to the basement. If the Roborock doesn’t work out I will just return it.
I have a 900 series and a j7. I don’t really have an issue with either one. They rarely get stuck and complete jobs regularly. However I recently bought a Roborock and it is definitely better. The app is much more advanced and lidar seems to be more efficient and accurate.
Do you really want to deal with mop water? When floors need mopping just get out a traditional mop and roller bucket. You don’t need a 2000 dollar vacuum. Most of the hardware is the same. Software quality is not. A roomba j7 will navigate around all chairs and do what you need a robot vacuum to do.
DO NOT BUY, RETURN THIS PIECE OF CRAP. I had a J7 that I bought for $700 (not on costco) less than 2 years ago, and it just stopped working about 2 months ago, needing a new "head cleaning unit" for around $90... that was out of stock. Roomba is a garbage company that puts no effort into developing smarter, better machines. I said F it and bought the RoboRock on Costco so I would have the consumer protection of costco if any problems. It is amazing, empties its own dust bin, and mops the floor for us. SO WORTH IT [https://www.costco.com/roborock-qx-revo-robot-vacuum-and-mop-with-multifunctional-dock.product.4000233271.html](https://www.costco.com/roborock-qx-revo-robot-vacuum-and-mop-with-multifunctional-dock.product.4000233271.html)
I got a refurbished roomba j7 on Amazon for $200 and it’s been great! Don’t be afraid of refurb! My refurbished Dyson stick vac from Amazon is still going strong after 10 years of use, only needed a couple battery changes.
