Reliable, great mopping (lifts pads), but poor cable avoidance.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
First bought iRobot 770 in 2015, worked great but died in 2020. Replaced it with roomba 692 hoping for an upgraded experience…so much disappointment; stuck constantly, poor performance, loud , etc. now it is just decorative. Not sure I’ll ever get another robot vacuum.
Strange, I have a J7+, i5+, 985, 980, 770, 694 and Discovery that all perform correctly and other then standard maintenance and replacing consumable parts have been running without issue since their initial launch year purchase. I’m about to try out my new 505 combo this week.
I have an older roomba(700 series something or other, 12 years old now I think). It also has a documented interface that you can connect to whatever you want(such as an esp32 board) and control it yourself It may not have fancy doodads but it’s built to last, easy to disassemble, has ready parts availability even this late, and doesn’t depend on any cloud bs. If this dies I’ll probably try to repair it first. Failing that I will try to buy a used one. Because like op said, if it depends on the cloud it’s not yours
Does this one go back and auto empty when full. I had I think the 7 and it didn’t. Said that iRobot had the patent for that and can’t do it. I would have never bought it if I had known since have 2 Shedding dogs.
I wish Costco had options with roller mops which I need for my hardwood floors. Currently trying the Roomba 707. Mixed feelings.
I know, and neither are good robots. Only reason I got it was because I won’t be stuck with it if it acts up, which it already did and I’m currently on my 2nd.
I have a Dreame X40 with a tricut brush for the upper mostly carpeted floor, a Roborock Q5 max+ for the basement, and currently trying the Roomba 707 with the roller mop for the main mostly hardwood floor but haven’t decided if I’m keeping it.
For hardwood floors definitely a roller mop, huge difference. The 707 surprised me by how good and consistent it is, it’s dumb but that helps with it being more efficient and consistent, gets the job done. The only reason I’d return it is cause it’s unable to climb the ramp to my living room so I have to carry it there to vacuum the carpet, at this price point the competition is able to climb that ramp. Get it from Costco, cheaper and comes with accessories, also keep an eye out for the new models in January, having high hopes for Eufy’s S2 .
For what it's worth, the Roomba 707 is made by the same company as the newer Dyson bots. I believe they even got the brand in the bankruptcy because of the debt owed.
