We had the basic roomba that you self empty for the basement (no carpet) and the i5 I think that self empties and mops for the man floor, and both picked up my girls nonstop shedding fur really well. The mapping feature of the newer ones is nice, but for overall just cleaning fur piles, you really don’t need mapping since the roombas will just clean every square of the area you have open.

I had an i5 combo plus as well. That thing was so close to sending me to therapy. Threw that stupid thing away. Got a L40s ultra ce series Dreame. Total 180 experience. It’s a set and forget and floors have never looked better with zero input from me. It’s a miracle.

I just bought the L40S Ultra CE for $250 brand new today and I am watching it vacuum and mop now. I am beyond ecstatic with how much I love it. I was able to set it up in less than 5 mins and it mapped my 800 sq. Ft apt in 6 mins. It’s incredibly quiet I can’t believe it. It looks and feels high quality and upmarket. It can see obstacles and moves around them precisely and is totally avoiding the carpet as it’s mopping right now by mopping around it. I had a Roomba i5 combo that vac and moped thought that did a decent job until seeing this Dreame and I now realize the Roomba was a clunky, archaic pile of shit. Bumped into everything, didn’t stick to the map or zones and was loud. Didn’t avoid obstacles or strategically navigate itself. Wish I could show you a video of how intelligent this robot is I can’t believe it!

It’s a iRobot Roomba combo i5! Got it a few years ago for Christmas. But I barely use the mop function because this model uses gravity to wet the rag and it just isn’t wet enough to effectively mop. But the vacuum works great! Having a self empty bin is also super convenient

I've had a few robovacs over the years, and I have to say the Roborock Q5 has been my favorite. Great suction power, it's pretty damned good at following maps, and it's low maintenance. I've been using it to clean my upper floor everyday for the last 2 years. Downstairs I have a Roomba i5+ and an M6 mop in my kitchen. The i5+ does a decent job on wood floors, but despite having a camera and the ability to ID objects, it still gets stuck under furniture a few times a week. The mop part of it is decent, but the tank on it is tiny and requires constant refilling. The M6+ does a good job at keeping up the kitchen floor, but again I have to tend to it 3x a week. Roborock is probably the brand you want to go for.

For carpet and dog hair in your price range, look at the Roomba i5+ or the Tp‑link Tapo RV20 Max. Both have strong suction and handle thick carpet better than cheaper bots. The Roomba Q011 is also worth considering if you want something simple and reliable. They all do a better job on carpet than basic models.

Yeah, I’ve got a Roomba i5+ and it actually pulls the dog hair out pretty well. Way better than my old cheap one that barely touched the carpet.

I have the i5+. Run it 1x/day and 2x during the shoulder seasons when mine sheds a lot. Usually takes 4 runs before I empty.

Strange, I have a J7+, i5+, 985, 980, 770, 694 and Discovery that all perform correctly and other then standard maintenance and replacing consumable parts have been running without issue since their initial launch year purchase. I’m about to try out my new 505 combo this week.
