"it even avoids cables like a champ."
"The J9+ is amazing with obstacles ... will ask you afterward if each is more permanent, such as furniture being moved around or added. Or if they are temporary, such as the 40 dog toys and balls I have here. It does this to learn"

"j9 has near the best carpet cleaning performance ... you are not gonna be able to get as good carpet cleaning performance as others."
"I can confidently tell you that the Roomba j9 or 10 max is by far the best. ... They stand out because I never see dog hair on my carpets when they run in contrast to older Roomba series and other brands."

"The J9+ was replaced 3 times on warranty and still couldn't reliably get around our house. ... 80% of the time I had to fix it being "stuck" on absolutely nothing."
"my god it's fucking buggy and not that smart. ... It regularly needs rebooting and rescuing from getting stuck."
"I would recommend nobody buy a robot vacuum without Lidar at this point. ... I've used two different Roborock systems dating back 4-5 years and are still superior to iRobot's new stuff with only camera based detection and mapping systems. ... My J9+ literally gets lost in its own map and struggles to navigate at times. ... Sometimes it wanders around with an error in the app until it redocks and restarts cleaning."

"the roombas have a HUGE problem with animal hair. ... Their rollers are not designed in any way that stops hair from getting wrapped up in the roller bits. ... On top of it, the roomba gives zero craps if the rollers are hitting strong resistance and will just keep trying to spin. ... the rollers would A) get animal hair wedged into their metaly rotatey motor parts almost instantly, B) keep spinning at full blast until they almost catch fire. ... I had to do pre-screens for dog hair every time we ran either model, because otherwise there was a good chance the house would smell like burnt plastic mixed with burnt hair after a run. ... The rollers had to be fully removed and cleaned after *every run*, sometimes even mid-run."
"the brushes pull up some of the moisture from the mop and then dust will clump up along with pet hair and clog before getting into the bin."
"it starts just wadding up hair and leaving it in chunks"

"They don't seem to have enough traction while mopping even on their lowest setting and using plain water, it'll just start sliding and not go in a straight line. Then it'll give up and be in the middle of a room."

Not surprised to see iRobot's Roomba at the near bottom of the list.
r/RobotVacuums • I analyzed the 25 most recommended robot vacuums on Reddit ->Sure have. My j9+ decided to pack it in 3 months after I got it and started throwing navigation errors and bricked itself quite a few times. Then the clean base decided it wanted to leak cleaning solution all over the mopping part of the robot. They sent me a new base which didn't help the issue, so they sent me another robot. To say I'm extremely gun shy about this new robot is a huge understatement. I should've just gotten a damned cordless steam mop and a cordless stick vacuum, which could probably do a better job than this piece of shit. For almost $1300, it should work, but of course it doesn't.
r/RobotVacuums • I analyzed the 25 most recommended robot vacuums on Reddit ->I have a j9+ Combo and for a couple of weeks, it was great. But now it's just been non stop problems. They've already replaced the Clean Base. I set it up last night and earlier today I sent the j9+ to go clean. Wouldn't you know it, the damned thing threw a navigation error before it even made it out of the kitchen. Why would it work now?! I really don't like having spent the kind of money this thing cost, for it NOT to work properly. F**k iRobot and their piece of s**t robots. I'm questioning myself if I even want to replace it.
r/RobotVacuums • Should I be considering any Robot other than the S9+? ->Push for the 505. Although it does have lidar, the 405 does not have the obstacle avoidance tech of the J9. The 505 does.
r/roomba • Roomba replacement advice ->The J9 plus combo at $799 isn’t a bad deal in my opinion. It returns and refills the mop solution. You just have to change the mop pad out and throw it in the washing machine. The downside is it is still quite a bit more than the i5 and isn’t “perfect” when it comes to mopping. If you’re expecting it to do much more than a swiffer wet pad on your floors while vacuuming, you’ll be disappointed. It does have a smart scrub option that is decent, but that option isn’t realistic to use routinely over a large area because it dramatically increases the clean time and the need to recharge because of the battery being drained quicker.
r/roomba • Are any of these robot vacuums any good. ->Excellent! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait for the 505 to come out and for comparisons between the 405 and 505. I’m also curious as to the downsides, if any, of not having an onboard water tank. I like that my j9 combo continuously wets the pad as it runs. With a fairly large floor space, I’m not sure constantly going back to the base to wet and wash the pads is reasonable.
r/roomba • New 405 just arrived! ->In that case, it’s likely personal preference. I’m partial to iRobot and have been loyal for the better half of a decade. I wouldn’t recommend a combo robot. If you’re wanting just daily or several days a week cleaning - go for the j8 enhanced, j9 or the s9. Roborock has a pretty good rep and Narwall (spelling?) has a good rep for combo robots. Just see what your cleaning needs are. If price isn’t an issue get the most powerful one. IMO, no such thing as too clean 🤣
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vacuum to Buy at any price? ->All the i and j7 and below series vacuums have the same motor. Only the s9 and j9 have more suction, the s9 is actually better suction. On hard floors any of them will pick up the hair. The s9 will do very well on the area rugs. Not worth buying the combo models.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->So iRobot just released an entirely new line of robots. Their design is completely different, so not sure there’s a lot of data on the new ones. That said the Roomba 405 Combo is right on budget for you which is their latest technology. The j9+ combo is a solid model and the Combo 10 Max seems to still be their flagship as well.
r/roomba • Best model for hardwood floors / dog hair. ->I use mine on my carpet floors upstairs and infact liked it better on hardwoods as it got the corners better. Have a j9+ combo to mop the hardwood now
r/roomba • Roomba S9+, how does it hold up today? ->So I love mine saves so Much time and effort. I just make sure kids mess is in 1 room or picked up at night into bins and then just run it. Technically the Roomba j9+ I have avoids items in the ground but still I prefer to clean up the floor before it goes off to vacuum and mop. I do still need to mop weekly or so for a good cleanup but definitely vacuum is done.
r/toddlers • Moms of toddlers, what do you think of robot vacuums? ->I have a golden and a lab and the roomba J9 combo is good but my god it's fucking buggy and not that smart. It regularly needs rebooting and rescuing from getting stuck. It also needs a good clean frequently. The dirt it picks up gets wet from mopping and forms mud/silt/grime mixture inside the dust compartment. Had a vacuum only euffy before and tbh having had both, if I was buying again I'd get a vacuum only robo and save the money
r/goldenretrievers • Roomba vs Goldens? ->I've got the new Roomba J9 mop and vacuum with self emptying and refilling. It's great on tiles and wood floor. We have two dogs and a toddler, it goes round fairly and keeps clean. It's quite good at learning the floor plan and identifying rugs and carpets so not to mop them. My only negative comment about it is the app can be a bit buggy/temperamental
r/HENRYUKLifestyle • It's 2025 and it's time...give me your best Robot vac recs! ->I’ve owned two iRobot i4’s and an iRobot Braava Jet for four years. I decided to upgrade to an iRobot Combo J9+, but wanted to be sure it was the right choice so also bought a RoboRock QRevo MaxV. I cannot emphasize enough how much better the RoboRock is in every single way compared to the iRobot. I’m absolutely a convert and will likely never consider an iRobot again unless they fully restructure their lineup and technology - which is unlikely given the current financial situation of the company.
r/RobotVacuums • Should I be considering any Robot other than the S9+? ->The combo J9+ vaccuum and mop combo works great for us, it auto empties and also auto fills its own mopping liquids! I often see emails about it being on sale! We have combo carpet, hard wood and vinyl flooring, seems to do well on all surfaces! Our apartment is about the same size and I find with moderate settings and one pass it’ll do the whole place in 1 charge and does a great job!
r/roomba • Just moved to a 1000 sq ft all vinyl flooring apartment. Need a 2-in-1 robot for sweeping and mopping. Any recommendations please? ->We have a long-haired white cat with extra toes who sheds a lot and tracks litter. Our J9+ Combo does a great job of cleaning up after him.
r/roomba • Robot vaccume suggestions ->After experiencing both a Xiaomi robot (X20+) and now an iRobot Combo J9+, I feel compelled to share this review. I had a Xiaomi X20+ for three days. While it worked, it was amazing. The LIDAR makes a HUGE difference in navigation—in every sense. With LIDAR, the robot is more delicate when touching objects, gives you a much clearer view of where it is and what it’s doing, and offers several “cool” features (that, in the end, don’t make that much of a difference). The mop washing and drying feature is incredible and very useful. However, it takes an eternity to dry. Models with hot air and water should be better. Regarding pets: the robot failed to detect pet poop on a white floor in a clear space—and spread it all over. That alone makes it unreliable for pet owners. However, after three days, it simply stopped working and wouldn’t turn on again. What started as a dream turned into a nightmare. Fortunately, I was able to return it and get my money back. After that, I realized I needed to make a logical decision, not one based on my excitement about the latest and most advanced technologies. That led me to buy the iRobot Combo J9+. Yes, aside from better pet poop detection (which seems more effective on the iRobot), the iRobot is, in many ways, “dumber.” Mapping takes longer, its navigation can leave you wondering if it will actually complete the job, and you may encounter some bugs. But it does what we need: vacuum and mop. Given the technology it comes with—and considering its limitations—it performs its tasks well. It goes where it should, returns to the dock, and **accepts chemical cleaning products in the water tank**, which I found absurd that Xiaomi doesn’t allow. So why did I choose to pay more for an iRobot instead of buying another brand (like Xiaomi or Roborock) with more technology at half the price? The short answer: the limitations in my country. Here in Brazil, everything is VERY expensive. The iRobot J9+ costs the equivalent of 7–8 times the minimum wage. In the U.S., it would cost around half a minimum wage. Yes, it’s shocking—**every decent robot vacuum is extremely expensive here**. That means, for the price of one iRobot, I could buy multiple other models with more features. However, apart from iRobot, neither Xiaomi nor Roborock (let alone other brands) have a solid legal presence in Brazil. So forget about warranties or refunds after 7 days—**the risk is just too high**. Xiaomi’s support basically doesn’t exist, and their documentation is terrible. You can’t even reinstall or update the firmware properly. In summary, I chose iRobot (even though it’s more expensive and has fewer features) because I **don’t want to risk losing 7-8 times the minimum wage** on a robot that could break after just a few days. I was lucky that it happened within three days—it could just as easily have been 30 days or a year later. Stop treating robot vacuums like gaming computers or fun gadgets. Their job is to vacuum and mop. They handle dirt and water, and the more tech you add (especially tech that often doesn’t make a big difference), the higher the chance something will break. So, consider these factors before choosing a robot vacuum, in order of importance: * Does the brand have legal representation in your country? * Will you be able to get another robot or support after the marketplace’s safety window expires? * Or, if you’re rich and can buy a new vacuum every six months, then go ahead and choose the one that entertains you the most. At the end of the day, they all vacuum and mop—some with more issues, some with fewer, requiring more or less user intervention. **Choose the kind of headache you’re willing to deal with.** Currently, there is no robot vacuum brand or model that delivers cutting-edge technology, reliability, and proper professional support all in one. Good luck.

r/RobotVacuums • iRobot vs Others: How to Choose Your Robot Vacuum? ->Didnt know that. I thought it was the same as with the J9+ Combo I have. Why would they not allow J9 to mop only?
r/roomba • Roomba Combo 10 Max - I kind of love it? ->I dont know where the problem is, but i sent my J9+ combo back after weekend because the dock didnt work. So i got the money back and bougt 10 MAX. And today a recieved money back again. It didnt recognize type of floor :-( IRobot newer more
r/RobotVacuums • My Roomba Combo 10 Max arrived today! ->J9+ Combo is on Amazon for $800 right now 46% off! Great choice though many mixed reviews. The Combo Max 10 is on Amazon for $800 but I’d choose the J9+ Combo because self cleaning bases don’t actually “wash” the pads. The j9’s brown design is better than the all black in my option and the j9 has a wood top to put small plant on top for design. The j9 you can just quickly remove the pad and put in the washer I have an i3+ and Brava m6 that I’ve had for 4 years now and always worked well but I’m thinking of upgrading to a combo j9+
r/roomba • Best model for hardwood floors / dog hair. ->I have stalked this page a bit and didn’t find the answer I was looking for and a lot of the threads were a few years old and with new technology I was hoping someone could help me find what I am looking for. I have a 1500sq/ft shop/garage. I’m a near freak and mop/sweep after every task is complete. But sometimes it would be nice to walk away and let a robot handle it for me. Or just to keep up with dust or small bits. Currently I have the iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ that is just over a year old doing the job (terribly). It was demoted from the house because the mopping didn’t do much but leave dirty streaks all over my LVP floor and the vacuum was meh. In fact, all my iRobot products seem to be lack luster. (Story for another time). My complaints on the j9 combo is that it doesn’t really clean as much as it moves diet around. At least daily I have to go adjust it on its base so it will charge or move it 6” back home because it died on its way back. Overall poor cleaning. What is the best robot that can help me keep my shop clean and shiny without having constant issues? Above is a random photo I had of the garage and floor in question. For conversation sake… $1500 budget. Only trucks so height shouldn’t be an issue. Needs to be able to not run into my wheels and or expensive things.
r/RobotVacuums • “Garage” Vacuum/Mop ->Whoa man, firstly huge thanks for your job here, with the comparision. After very bad issues with Roomba Combo J9+ (returned to seller after four months ) i need to buy a new robot. And sorry, even new 505 looks nice i don't want next iRobot. My flat is 70 sq. m., 90% hard floors, 4 rooms, bathroom, toilet, no animals but me and wife have a longer hair :). Moping is important, battery not, good self cleaning yes. I like the specification new Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and also consider Mova P50 Pro Ultra which one is 100Euros cheaper and is avalaible from Amazon and they have a good return policy in case of troubles. What do you think, it it a good choice? Should i look closer to any other robot?
r/Dreame_Tech • Dreame comparison of September 2024 robot lineup ->iRobot Roomba combo and Braava are really just automated swiffer mops that do not suck up the dirty solution off the floor. They spray the floor and drag an absorbent pad over it instead. If you have a handheld swiffer with the solution sprayer, you will find that the Roomba mop models work almost identically. These will do a general clean but do not scrub the floor and cannot clean up spilled food or drinks. Some other companies have spinning mops with a wet vac dirty water tank that do a much better job on spilled food and drinks.
r/RobotVacuums • Can robot vacuums with mopping functions really clean well? ->I also have a Roomba J+ with the auto-fill base. I recommend this model. Run it every day on a schedule for the rooms your dogs regularly use. You can have it clean the rooms the dogs do not use once a week. I have mine set to mop all the rooms without carpet once a week. You will likely have to clean the hair out of the rollers every week or two and replace the filter in it when it tells you to.
r/RobotVacuums • Best self emptying robot vacuum for large home with 8 dogs? ->I can’t blame you. When the Max 10 or Combo j9+ work as they should,…….they are really great products. I run two Combo j9’s and a plain j9+……in a 1700 square foot rancher. I’m OCD. Love em. Love em.
r/roomba • Roomba Combo 10 Max - I kind of love it? ->I can’t blame you. When the Max 10 or Combo j9+ work as they should,…….they are really great products. I run two Combo j9’s and a plain j9+……in a 1700 square foot rancher. I’m OCD. Love em. Love em.
r/roomba • Roomba Combo 10 Max - I kind of love it? ->[the j9+](https://emmaessentials.com/roomba-combo-j9-review-the-ultimate-cleaning-solution-for-multi-pet-homes/) has better navigation and is more hands-off, good for mixed floors. [The 405](https://emmaessentials.com/) is simpler but less advanced. Clean rollers every 1–2 weeks for best performance.
r/roomba • J9+ vs 405 Combo? ->We have foster failed…a few times… 😆 We have 6 people, 5 cats, and 5 dogs living in our home. I have a J9+ Combo for my formal living room/kitchen, and just bought a J7+ for my entertainment room/dining room. The J7+ is in the rooms that my dogs spend most of their time in, and it has been doing a fabulous job! I really wanted to test out its capabilities, so I didn’t vacuum the room before I set the Roomba to it. I spent the first bit of its first vacuuming run laughing, because it would run maybe 5 feet from the base, and then head back home to empty the bin! I know it was fully full, because I didn’t have the lid closed all the way at first on the base, so it wasn’t able to seal to create suction to self-empty. I manually emptied the first one while I figured out the problem, and it was chock full of dirt and dog hair! I paid $1000 for my J9+ Combo, but only $240 for the J7+ on iRobot’s official eBay store! The only “drawback” to the J7+ is that it doesn’t also mop, but I don’t need that for the rooms it’s in. And the J7+ vacuums just as well as the J9+ Combo! I’m a sucker for fun tech, but I also LOVE a great deal!!! Best of luck to you!
r/roomba • I have a cat and a dog who both shed. What's the cheapest Roomba model that will get the job done? ->Oh, and a fun fact I found out - the J7+ runs super quietly, but sounds like a jet plane when it empties its bin. 😂 The J9+ Combo runs loudly, but has a slightly quieter self-emptying mechanism. All factory iRobot parts, too. I know some off brand rollers are super loud so I avoid those.
r/roomba • I have a cat and a dog who both shed. What's the cheapest Roomba model that will get the job done? ->A few things: 1. Don’t get your wife a vacuum as a gift, even a robot vacuum. 1.5. Don’t get your wife something techy if she doesn’t like tech good lord man. 2. I have the j9 combo which is definitely not less than 500$ and I’m deeply disappointed with it.
r/homeassistant • Robot Vacuums Under $500: Are They Worth It ->I’m not going to be the one to dissuade you from buying top tier because I don’t think it’s fair to make value judgments about someone I don’t know based on how they spend their money. You are allowed to make whatever consumer-related decisions you wish as it’s your business and no one else’s. I wanted to also speak up for the Saros 10R, though, and to tell you I’m absolutely thrilled with mine — it arrived this past weekend (I’m also in NorCal). It’s a superior machine — I’m newly arrived from the Roomba camp, very happy to have finally made the switch, and owned their top-of-the-line model previously. The Saros 10R blows all of their technology out of the water, just like everyone said in pretty much every corner of the internet — they were right, and I’m really shocked at what a dramatically better machine this is by comparison. You won’t regret the purchase - I sure didn’t; I’m absolutely thrilled with it and don’t have any remorse at spending that kind of cash on this machine for a second — my technology spending rule has always been to buy the best you can possibly afford to future-proof yourself for as long as possible (which isn’t always very long these days). I have a pretty tidy home (2b/ba 1,200 sq. ft. city apartment with wood, tile, and low-to-medium-pile area rugs with two small pets, no children, and one husband) and it’s exceedingly rare for there to be errant objects littered about like socks etc., but I still love the idea of object avoidance when appropriate and in all the testing I saw in reviews of this feature it seems the 10R will be stellar if it encounters anything. It has already correctly identified cord clusters along walls and other such things, and will do with them what I tell it via the fantastic app. It cleans so well I’m actually questioning whether my floors were ever clean at all before I switched to Roborock. The most surprising feature for me was how much quieter my 10R is compared to my previous Roomba (I owned their J9+ Combo), even when mopping — I almost can’t tell if it’s actually doing anything compared to the pretty noisy activity of my Roomba. I’m pleasantly and mildly shocked at the difference. In summation, I think you should go for it, get the 10R, and wave happily at any haters. 😉
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->I'm looking for a new self-emptying robot vacuum. What's my best choice for something that can go at least 5 years without service beyond periodic cleaning and battery replacement? I'm not interested in a mopping model or anything with unproven new features like the robot arm. Those are cool features, but they introduce more moving parts. My top criteria are reliability, powerful carpet cleaning that can capture cat hair, and good suction when transitioning to tile areas. Boring, time-proven mechanisms are ideal for me! I loved my Roomba 880 units. They performed daily cleanings for a decade with only a few easy self-service wheel swaps and battery replacements. These really set the standard for me. I only replaced the pair because I wanted a newer unit with mapping and the self-emptying feature. However, newer Roombas have proven to need more babysitting and have out-of-stock replacement parts. I'm 24 days into waiting even to get a reply with an ETA on the warranty service for my Combo j9+, which is fully out of commission. (This, despite buying it with their premium warranty upgrade!) Even before that, it was prone to getting stuck in places where the Roomba 880 didn't, and app misfeatures often frustrated me. I suspect my new daily workhorse should come from another company. The comparison tool on the Roborock website wanted to steer me toward a mopping model or the robot arm model.
r/Roborock • What's Roborock's best vacuum-only model for long-term use? ->Just avoid Roombas. They're really loud so you can't really run them when you're in the house whereas Eufy and Roborock are very quiet (maybe not all of them just the ones I've seen). Roombas have also fallen behind on software, I spent €900 to replace my 4 year old 960 with a J9+ Combo, it's constantly struggling to dock, if you take if off the dock yourself it loses the mop function unless you restart it literally 10 times and it's forever getting stuck or ignoring the saved map. Now I have the clean bag full error after two months when the previous bag lasted me a full year. I got a J5+ for upstairs and it's equally bad. Can never find the dock or will do a random 10 minute clean before going back. My 960 wasn't perfect but when I bought it, it was one of the only decent ones on the market as they hadn't taken off at the time and it was also on the US market for like 4 years by the time I bought it.
r/AskIreland • Are robot vacuums worth it? ->It’s way quieter than the Roomba J9+ and the Shark IQ. Those both sound like jet engines.
r/RobotVacuums • Personal review: Just got my Eufy S1 Pro - very happy! ->I recently got a j9*+ and i find it really loud. I cant be in the room when it cleans, after a while it starts to hurt my ears. I would not recommand if sound levels are important to you.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->We use a Roomba J9+ for this use case and it does well.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only (no mop) robot vacuum for hardwood, tile and one low pile rug? ->The combo has a mop, but you can buy the non combo version that is just a vacuum.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only (no mop) robot vacuum for hardwood, tile and one low pile rug? ->I have 4 dogs so feel your pain, also 3 Women in our house so hair is a problem. I don't have the eufy S1 yet, but I think the Eufy X10 Pro is great but it doesn't get much love here. Also the Roomba J9+ vacuum only robot is fantastic.
r/RobotVacuums • What robovac would be best for 3 long haired dogs? ->I have four dogs, two Bernese mountain dogs, a Corgi and a Westie. I had been using an i7+ for years now and had been extremely happy with it, with regular maintenance and removing the hair from the rollers and the front wheel practically daily, it ran great. But I've had the upgrade bug for a while and just last week I upgraded to the j9+ vacuum only and I'm very impressed with the upgrades! It's definitely faster, far more suction power, quieter. So I'm not sure what your budget is but I would recommend a j5+ or j9+ just because I like having the bins for self emptying if you are looking for vacuum only devices.
r/roomba • Best Roomba for Dog Hair on Carpet? ->I have four dogs, two Bernese mountain dogs, a Corgi and a Westie. r/roomba • Best Roomba for Dog Hair on Carpet? ->The new Roomba Combo 10 just recently came out and it is on sale for $500 off here in Canada! That's pretty crazy. So it is the newest and the best of the best. I personally just bought a j9+ but the vacuum only unit a couple of weeks ago and it does such a great job. I have four dogs so it is running daily and then I have another machine for the mopping. So if your budget allows you could go straight for the best and the new, The Combo 10. You could also consider the j9 plus combo device which many people here love, but I would probably go with the j9 plus vacuum only device and do the combo with the Braava jet M6 standalone floor washer. I personally like having my devices separated and I think it leads to both doing a better job but I would say the majority of people disagree with me and find the combo units easier to use while doing an equally as good job. So I'm not sure if this has helped you a lot or not but if you have any other questions please do ask.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot vacuum good with LOTS of dog hair! HELP! ->Yes that happens. Until the base clean is reached you probably have to do it after every run, I now have to remove the hair from the rollers including both ends every second day and do a full clean on weekends. Keeping the filter clean is very important for suction. I should also mention I have four dogs plus there are 2 Women living in the house, and the j9+ does a great job keeping our house clean.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot vacuum good with LOTS of dog hair! HELP! ->Hiya, I just purchased this device about 2 months ago. 2 Women & 4 dogs in our house so I understand about hair everywhere, and this is a great device for that problem. Especially with pets it does take a few minutes every couple days and about 5 minutes for me on a weekly basis to keep it running in tip top shape. I run it daily, and twice a day in two rooms. Everyday or two I take a quick look daily to see if there is any hair wrapped around the rollers or the brush, about every second day I have to pop them out and just clean the hair off the rollers and pull the hair out from both ends. Weekly I do the same, but I also pull the little grey cap off the end of the rollers and pull all the hair out of there. I also pull the filter out to clean the dust off, sometimes just giving it a knock on the side of the garbage can and using a little brush to clean it or taking it outside and cleaning it with a small rechargeable compressed air device I have that you can buy on Amazon or AliExpress. It's much cheaper than going through the cans. There is also some other regular maintenance suggested and iRobot has great videos on their website, YouTube and in the app in the product health section.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->Please also keep in mind it could take several runs to get what I call a Base clean, so you might notice the rollers need to be cleaned every run for the first several runs. And it might leave what looks like clumps of hair that you have to pick up while getting to this point, just pick them up because it's easier and that will end as soon as the base clean has been achieved. You will be shocked at how much it picks up for the first little while.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->The J9+ is amazing with obstacles, and will ask you afterward if each is more permanent, such as furniture being moved around or added. Or if they are temporary, such as the 40 dog toys and balls I have here. It does this to learn and I'm not sure when it stops, I've had mine for 2 months. This is a big obstacle it recently encountered 😃 https://preview.redd.it/ojfgtznaxd2e1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8d0cdfa05036831a5d7c31720ef64a9eb52733e
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->I have 4 dogs so I understand the issue well. About 3 months ago or so I upgraded from my trusty i7+ to the J9+ vacuum only version and while I was happy before I couldn't believe what a huge upgrade it was. It runs quite a bit quieter, the suction is far more powerful, a large battery that will do my house in one run with many other upgrades that made this device worth it to me. I was able to get it on sale for I think $300 off so that helped my decision also, so check for sale prices. You already have a Roomba so I'm sure you are aware but maybe for others who might read this just know that it can take several runs until it reaches a baseline clean so expect to have to pick up clumps of hair and clean the rollers, wheel and side brush after every run until it's just everyday maintenance. I can skip one day but any more than that and it's dog hair chaos! I love how much it helps with keeping dust down and the air much cleaner so I'm not seeing nothing but hair floating around in those spots of sunshine in the house 😃
r/roomba • Best roomba for dog hair and switching from hardwood to low rugs? ->You can never have too many dogs 😉 Your advice is solid though. My J9+ vacuum only keeps our home clean with our dogs. 🐶
r/roomba • Help buying the right Roomba ->I own the Eufy S1 Pro. I bought that to replace the Roomba j9. This robot is a step function increase over prior gens in terms of mapping and navigation fidelity. Totally nonlinear. Sometimes the fan kicks on and I wonder why it’s vacuuming, but I think the vacuum fan is the same fan that cools the onboard Nvidia GPU (it’s quiet, think computer fan). It doesn’t have small obstacle avoidance yet (planned for next year I guess). It swallowed a cat toy and I was curious what it was going to do, it backed up, popped open its little lid and regurgitated it out. My wife and I anthropomorphize it. It is smart. Other robots are millions of if statements and this is a big matrix vector product. If statements cover edge cases though. Edit: see this comment below for a more accurate look: https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/s/oYqCUqUYaw
r/RobotVacuums • Got the Matic robot vacuum. AMA ->It depends on the Roomba... The S9+ is the best, followed by the J9/10. The Dyson VizNav is the only thing that can kill out more, but at full power I believe it only has a 12 minute runtime. And it has other issues being a robot. Dreame and Roborock have adopted the dual rollers design, but the actual performance of those don't remotely compare.
r/RobotVacuums • Are there any robot vacuums better at carpet than roombas yet? ->Dyson 360 viz nav is best for carpet pickup. Roomba S9+ is second, and provides the important convenience of auto-empty. Roomba J9+ is third and adds great object avoidance. Nothing else is in the ballpark for carpet cleaning.
r/RobotVacuums • Best for ONLY carpet ->There really isn't anything better with obstacles. I've used the best obstacle avoiding bots... Dreame, Narwal... They are somewhat equivalent, but not better than the J9. None are perfect, though.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->I think the Roomba J9+ is the best fit for this scenario. Object avoidance is on par with the best of them, although none are perfect. Note that object avoidance is meant to avoid things that can get robot jammed up or make a worse mess, like cords or pet waste. Larger objects, like bags and chair legs, it will bump into but do no harm.
r/RobotVacuums • Object avoidance without mop ->I believe the J-series all have the same object avoidance, but don't get confused with the "Combo" versions. Those have mops and are much more expensive. The J9+ (non-combo) is currently the only J sold that is vacuum-only. It's currently $500 US, which really isn't that much more than what you can get a used J7+ for, but you'd miss the 2x suction power, the 2x battery life, and the warranty.
r/RobotVacuums • Object avoidance without mop ->Agreed, I had to have my j9+ replaced once because of several issues and the replacement dock they sent me doesn’t even work! The J5 has been great though, these combo robots are not very good IMO
r/roomba • Roomba combo 10 - is it as bad as they say? ->I have the Roomba j9+ and the Braava since before combo robots became mainstream when it was the only real mopping option. Then it stopped working so well (for what it could do). So needed a new combo option for the mopping even though j9+ is suitable for what it does. Had planned on getting rid of it knowing wouldn’t get that much for it really. Then decided to keep it as upstairs only robot where not much mopping to do and I do that myself, rather than dragging combo robot and base upstairs.
r/RobotVacuums • Already have a robot vacuum, would like a combo instead ->The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is a beast insane suction, rubber brushes that don’t tangle with fur, and it mops too (if you’re into that). For a cheaper but still effective option, the Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid gets the job done with dual brushes and strong suction. If you’ve got a heavy shedder, the iRobot Roomba j9+ is pricey but worth itself-emptying, avoids pet messes like a pro, and handles carpets like a champ. Avoid anything with bristle rollers
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Now ->irobot roomba j7+ is quiet and has great avoidance system. the next one, j9 is more powerful so it’s louder sometimes.
r/RobotVacuums • recommendations for self emptying + object avoidance and preferably quiet robot? ->Also not happy with the j9+. So much promise, so much work to make it take care of things for you. I tell people it won't save labor or just shifts it. Determine if you are happier troubleshooting or vacuuming. Time spent in either is about the same.
r/homeassistant • Robot Vacuums Under $500: Are They Worth It ->I have a J9 the thing is awesome but I do think there are better robots for the price if you care about obstacles avoidance more then pick up abilities
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->I have a roomba j9 and a Roborock s7 MaxV they do an okay okay of keeping up with one shepherd. Any top of the line unit should work just expect to fork over a good chunk of money. I know they Roomba “j” series gets a bad rep but I think they are great (yeah not as quite or fast as other but can be found a lot cheaper) what ever you do get a robot with a self empty base
r/germanshepherds • Robot vacuum? Best ones? ->I just got a Roomba j9+ a few days ago for $400 for Black Friday. It’s my first robot vacuum. I have a 2 bed 2 bath apartment with mixture of carpet and hard floor, as wells as a dog that sheds a ton. I’ve been slacking on my vacuuming lately (I’m embarrassed to say there were literally dog hair tumbleweeds floating around). The j9+ cleaned the apartment to nearly spotless in one pass. Now I can run it automatically and my place looks spotless. Best money I’ve spent in a long time.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum for pet owners ->Yes! I have 2 GSD and 3 boys under 10. Got the Roomba j9+ last November and it’s been amazing. No more dog hair tumbleweeds!
r/CleaningTips • Is robot vaccum worth it for those without animals that shed a lot ? And just in general for cleaning /mopping floor? ->I just bought the J9+ for $500. Amazon and iRonot had it for that price. We like it.
r/roomba • What Roomba should I get? ->I'm looking for a robot vacuum and don't care about a mop system as this will primarily be used on carpeted floors. What I do care about: * Obstacle avoidance -wires, shoes, pencils etc * Mapping * Being able to deal with fluff from a long-haired cat * Carpet performance over hard floors * Ease of use, reliability, and availability of spare parts over an extended period In terms of price, the Roomba j9+ is a strong contender, but it is at the top of what I'm willing to pay. The Roomba j9+ seems to do everything I want, although I also see that the VSLAM mapping isn't as good as the LIDAR stuff. The Roborock product lineup is indecipherable, but they seem make better robots with more advanced mopping systems. I have no idea about their carpet performance relative to Henry, and I don't want to pay extra for an automated mopping system I will immediately disable.
r/RobotVacuums • The best option for vacuuming only in UK? ->Roomba j9+ - does a great job on carpets with cat hair.
r/RobotVacuums • The best option for vacuuming only in UK? ->I had a J6 and still have my J9. You can get a j6 for the price you want. (I gave it to my sister in law, works fine after 2 years) I bought a Roborock S8MV, so the J9 got the J6 spot and the J6 was kicked out.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only robot under $4-500? ->I went in watching Zero reviews for the current flagships and bought the S8MV while on clearance at Best Buy. I've loved it since I set it up. I replaced my J9 and J6. (The J6 went to a family members, the J9 went to our upstairs FROG room) The object avoidance is fine on my Roborock, I had a cord snag day 1 and 2, once I got that area tidy'd up no issues since. Roomba's support for me has always been excellent. For example, they sent me a new vacuum motor for my J9 after warranty was up. I haven't had to use Roborock's and I've heard mixed reviews, I haven't heard a lot goof form Dreame, so that was a big factor for me. I believe all the flagships are excellent, and at this point we are splitting hairs. Go with your gut, which one do you want the most. BUY it!
r/RobotVacuums • Need recommendations, i’ve read too many reviews and now i’m spiraling ->Two retired people, two lazy cats, two story house, mostly hardwood, laminate, and tile with a couple of large area rugs, two bedrooms with wall to wall. Our housekeeper comes every other week. I have allergies and asthma, so less dust is better, and a vacuum with bags is preferable. I have other things I would rather do than vacuum my house so I thought i would try a robot vacuum. I bought an iRobot Roomba j9+ 3 weeks ago. It seemed to have the best reviews for vacuum only models. Why pay for mopping if you don’t want it? I have a high traffic area mapped out from my foyer, to the powder room, down the hall, and do the kitchen. That is the area that I wanted to focus on. Auto clean schedule 3 days a week. I pick up a few things like the cat’s water bowl, a couple of loose mats, and three chairs at my island. It’s just easier and I don’t mind. It goes off right before I go to the gym and is long done before I get home. Only issue seems to be the auto empty clogging light alert. I unplug the base and clean out it to deal with that. Does a pretty good job on that run. I carry it upstairs to do those rooms. For me, mapping the rooms separately works fine. It set it off in the master suite or the cats sleeping and cat box room and just listen to monitor it. I do those a couple times a week. I don’t want to spend more to get another base or robot for the upstairs. Carrying it up there when I want the area done is fine with me. The hallway and guest room are on a different map and I do that about 1 time a week. So for me, this all works fine. It’s the bare floors I wanted to get more attention. The carpets get done about once a week, which is enough for my situation. And is more than was happening before. I am happy with the Roomba j9+.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only (no mop) robot vacuum for hardwood, tile and one low pile rug? ->I’ve had my J9+ for 4 weeks and absolutely love it. My home is mostly hardwood and two area rugs. It does all 95 % better than I can any given day!! Also I have it programmed for every two to three days and it’s on time and doesn’t bother the nervous queen we have (Siamese) at all. I only have to pick up shoes my office chairs moved out until it’s done then I move them back right after. A couple end tables I can easily take off floor for the duration and it goes pretty much on its own. Have one recliner it gets hooked on occasionally but it shuts off until I get it off then it stays away from it the rest of time. So yes it’s well worth the for me!! I’m 72 yrs old.
r/RobotVacuums • What's the best robot vacuum? ->I have a Roomba 960 for 10 years now. And it works very well! I just changed the battery after 9 years. It's connected to my Home Assistant, disconnected from Internet and all could stuff. But today I am looking for a new one. I would like a self-empty station. It's not an easy stuff to find a new one. Ten years ago, market was IRobot and Neato. Today, Neato is dead, replaced by more than 10 Chinese brands. All with a lot of technology: Mop, cartography, cameras, vacuum suction of 10000Pa, and a budget of more than 1000$ in most of the cases. It's ok, this is the new market. I want something simple: * Clean the ground, and do it WELL! * a self-empty station * a little bit of cartography, but not too much * no mop, it doesn't work well, and it's more maintenance * A reliable product, that will work in 10 years, I want to be able to buy replacement part if something fail. * No internet connection. It's a vacuum, it doesn't need to go on the web, just to clean. With my shopping list it's not easy, and I have two models in competition: Roomba J5+ vs Roborock Q8 Max. But both seems to be garbage! J5+: * Irobot doesn't give the vacuum suction. But based on reviews and comment, it's less than Roomba 960 (9.3CFM for 960, 7.3CFM for J5+). I should expect a worse result * I can jump to J9+, seems to have a better suction, but more expensive Q8: * Everybody love Roborock, but when you look at the reviews, it's broken after one year * When it's not broken people say "It's work well, it's my 4th Roborock in 4 years!" Why do you change your vacuum every year??? So I have the choice between a vacuum with 5000Pa of suction but will probably have failure in one year, on a Robot that will be robust, but a suction below than we have 10 years ago...
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->Cloud connection for Roborock is a show stopper for me. If I buy a new one, it will be a Roomba. Now, I don't know if I buy a J5+ or J9+. J9+ has a better suction, but it's really expensive, and I am not even sure I will see a difference
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->We just purchased a Roomba j9 this spring. It took some weeks and several "mapping runs" for it to finally figure things out, and then it broke and needed replacing. But we got a new one, and after some additional minor tweaks, it seems to do a pretty good job, even with the dane hair. I have it scheduled to do each room in the house 3x per week. The biggest "problem" we now have is that we have a mop/vacuum combo, but the water tank is small and needs refilling every couple of days. And we need to make sure the place is reasonably picked-up before the vacuum can do its thing (but maybe that isnt so bad in itself...). It does such a good job that I've had to replace bags/filters already, but I did find a good price on Amazon for replacements. TLDR - At this point, Id give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It was very frustrating to get working - but now its working pretty darned well.
r/greatdanes • Robotic vacuums suited to Dane shed? ->I have 3 dogs…1 is Husky, the other border collie and a ridgeback. Basically they all shed a lot but have different types of hair and each is a challenge. I have Roomba J9+ (just vacuum) and I run it every day. It can’t miss a day otherwise it’s too much for the poor little vacuum. But if you run it every day, it should be able to handle shedding. Some days, it has to empty itself 2/3 times and recharge in the middle of the cycle, and others it just does one full cycle without interruptions… just depends on the dogs. I’m ok with mine, and I’m so glad I got it. The other thing is that if you get the vacuum, you do have to clean it almost every time it vacuums. Otherwise hair and dirt get in and it doesn’t work as well. Good luck!
r/husky • Robot Vacuums? ->I think skipping the mop is the way to go. No loss in suction power that way. I have the J9+ and would say that the self emptying is meh for me. I like to tap the filter clean after each use, so I almost always empty her myself. The only time it has come in handy is when she thinks she is full due to debris (leaves).
r/roomba • Roomba 960 VS J7+ ( both from IRobot Ebay refurbished store) ->Get the straight vacuum. No combo because you lose suction. I had a 985 that is still running but was relocated to my son’s campus housing. That thing was not smart, but did an outstanding job. I have a J9 now. I feel like it does the job more efficiently, but is not quite as powerful. I still love it for cleaning up after my cat and dog though.
r/roomba • Robot vaccume suggestions ->Just gonna tell you, the mops work very very well. Not sure where you heard they don’t, but if you wanna if you insist on going vacuum only, I recommend iRobot. They are the best at vacuuming and have great customer support. I’d say j5, j7, j9, will all be great.
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->Oh ok, I can’t argue with that logic. If you have pets I’d suggest you go the extra mile and get the j9+ since it’s very good for pet hair. Regardless, you’ll love the j5.
r/RobotVacuums • What happens with robot vacuums? ->Coming from a person who’s tried the Roborock Q Revo Pro, Roborock Q Revo Master, Dreame L20, Dreame L40, iRobot Roomba Combo 10 max, iRobot Roomba j9+, iRobot Roomba j7+, and iRobot Roomba i7+, I can confidently tell you that the Roomba j9 or 10 max is by far the best. iRobot is definitely farther behind in most other aspects, though.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair? ->They stand out because I never see dog hair on my carpets when they run in contrast to older Roomba series and other brands. They definitely need more maintenance though. They have worse navigation, get stuck more, and are much worse at mopping. Roborock is much better overall but they suck at obstacle avoidance. I’d say go with dreametech. They’re a great overall. Just get the tri cut brush.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair? ->YES. It is most definitely that bad. It’s bad on hard floors but god forbid you run it on a carpet. I have a video of it just plowing through fake dog poop on carpets. Edit: I have owned both the roomba j series and dreame l series, and both are so so much better.
r/Roborock • Is the AI and obstacle avoidance really that bad? ->I tested the roomba j series and the l series from dreame and both perfectly did the test
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->I tested the roomba j series and the l series from dreame and both perfectly did the test
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->Because both my Dreame L series and Roomba J series did the same test flawlessly
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->My Roomba J9+ avoided diarrhea
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->I’d really say go with iRobot. Reasons why: They have really good support POLICIES, the agents are hit and miss(most of the time pretty good). Any issue within warranty and you’ll get an instant replacement unit. They are designed to be super easy to buy replacement parts for(which iRobot will often pay for sometimes even out of warranty). They also last really long: fifth year of owning and using my iRobot I7+(1600 hours of cleaning). They have the best obstacle avoidance for poop(check a video I have on my account of the Roborock Q Revo Máster plowing through fake dog poop. Also for under 500 the obstacle avoidance won’t even really work with my experience. No voice assistant Reasons not to: They’re behind with mopping They get lost more often and sometimes take longer to clean. On the louder end(especially self emptying) I really cannot put enough emphasis on their support team though. My roomba combo j9+ wouldn’t properly saturate its pad with my floor type so after some replacements they upgraded me to the roomba combo 10 max since it would “saturate its pad while cleaning at the docking station”. This was all done in manufactures warranty. My personal recommendation is the roomba j9+ when it’s on discount or you can settle for the j7+ but I strongly reccomend saving for the j9+.
r/Roborock • Help be choose a roborock or other roomba please I'm overwhelmed ->For vacuum only I love my roomba j9
r/RobotVacuums • Best RobotVacuum WITHOUT mop? ->I have the iRobot Roomba J9+ and I’m overall happy with it. I haven’t had too many issues and I’ve been using it every day for a year now. I can’t say the same for the Braava jet m6 …
r/RobotVacuums • I analyzed the 25 most recommended robot vacuums on Reddit ->If you are organized (don't have cables lying around) then lack of object avoidance will be a plus since it won't get scared of things that aren't really a problem. AI can sometimes confuse things with obstacles and skip cleaning areas. If you like leaving cables on the floor (say a charger plugged to the wall and cable hanging) and stuff around then object avoidance will increase the chances of a "hands off" experience. Navigation is easier on the 405 since it has lidar. If you like running the robot at night it's probably better. If your house is not huge and/or you run the robot during the day then the camera based localization may be good enough. The mapping part can be annoying on the j9+. Getting a map up, and making it reliable, will be a lot easier on a lidar robot like the 405. Hardware on the j9+ is a lot more modular. If something fails you should be able to replace just that part. So long term you're probably better off with the j9+. The vacuum part of it will likely last forever. Wet cleaning systems are trickier. Still the j9+ part is a lot more modular. The older app is annoying to deal with, but you can always hook up the robot to google home / alexa and then just "hey google tell roomba to vacuum and mop the kitchen" and forget about the app [https://homesupport.irobot.com/s/article/1509](https://homesupport.irobot.com/s/article/1509) On the j9+ you can put cute plants on it since the water tank comes out the front of the base ( The 405 is a bit smaller.
r/roomba • J9+ vs 405 Combo? ->Roomba J series would work
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only robot under $4-500? ->ONLY for carpets? Hate it or not, nothing can beat roombas in carpets. Roomba j9 (NOT the combo) is pretty good, has obstacle avoidance and self emptying
r/RobotVacuums • Best for ONLY carpet ->Product specific subreddits like r/roomba are always gonna have people complaining, which is natural. People on this sub however are complaining about irobot roombas, mostly involving "irobot doesn't innovate anymore". But the innovations on robot vacuums these days are mostly about making the most complex and good cleaning mops possible, which you don't need in your case. Vacuum only Roombas (Except the roomba essential, dont buy that) are very good at carpet cleaning and nothing has came close to them so far. You might need to turn on your lights or run in daylight, because j9 uses a camera to navigate which can struggle in dark.
r/RobotVacuums • Best for ONLY carpet ->Roomba j9, for modularity and very good carpet cleaning performance
r/RobotVacuums • Carpet Only Robot Vacuum ->For your needs, j9 is the way to go(which you already have). So far, j9 has near the best carpet cleaning performance, so i'd say stay with it Of course there are other options like the other comment says, but you are not gonna be able to get as good carpet cleaning performance as others. Maybe obstacle avoidance as well if you care about it.
r/RobotVacuums • Best NON mop robot? ->Roomba j9
r/RobotVacuums • Best NO mop vacuum with obstacle avoidance ->If that was the case roborock would have had astronimical cleaning power.Their numbers have been the around same numbers (19-22cfm) for years. Roombas have very weak motors, yet j9 has around 21cfm airflow and nothing comes close to them in carpet cleaning as of right now. Brush design and airflow matters more than pascal numbers. I assume that roborock is able to get higher pascal numbers because they make the gap tighter. Edit: fixed something, my english isnt the best ;((
r/RobotVacuums • Best NO mop vacuum with obstacle avoidance ->I have a j9+ and a shedding dog. It is an absolute waste of money. Not that it can't handle a shedding dog, i spend more time debugging and maintaining the unit and app than i would vacuuming myself.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->I’ve been using the Roborock Saros 10r for months and still haven’t had a single hair get tangled in there. Look for their models with the “DuoDivide” brush. I have 2 pets and a wife with long hair, so I honestly didn’t expect it to work this well. So much better than the piece of junk roomba j9+ that I used to have.
r/Roborock • Our first robot vacuum: Roborock Qrevo S or ECOVACS T20 Omni or Dreame L10s Ultra ->So, first impressions, the rollers are the exact same as my J9+. Thing looks really nice, build quality is great. New app paired quick. Gotta let it charge and then am gonna update with first working impressions. For context I have 680, S9+, J9+ and BravaJet. I maintain them once a week and I never really have had issues with them. Probably my most used appliances.
r/roomba • Got the new Roomba 705 Max ->Yes. S9+ is my absolute favourite. 4 years old and still cleans like a champ. I just cannot find replacement OEM wheels for it and am gonna retire it. J9+ has better obstacle avoidance and navigation but it never came close to the cleaning of S9. Am really hopeful this will be the best of both worlds.
r/roomba • Got the new Roomba 705 Max ->I have been a huge S9 fan, I still have mine and it stilll is gong strong. I have a J9+ and while better in some ways, it never came close to the raw cleaning power of S9. But the new 705 Max surpasses it, I love mine and it's been running flawlessly .
r/roomba • Was the S9 the best Roomba of all time ->I have a dog that sheds often but not constantly. Needle type hair. I run the Roomba about once a week. I have a J9+, which has more suction than the J8, but to be honest I never thought those small differences were consequential.
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->iRobot makes the best tech for poop detection. Covered by many tech YouTube reviewers. I've got a J9+ and it even avoids cables like a champ.
r/RobotVacuums • Robovac that avoids Poop? ->If you don't care about mopping, then I would suggest considering a roomba j series. The dual rollers, bin design (reduces filter clogging), dirt detection, and bin sensor for auto empty make it well suited for pet hair. Hair will still accumulate inside of the rubber rollers and require maintenance. VacuumWars recently found that the similar combo 10 max picked up 100% of 2.5 inch hair from carpet, which was much better than many modern flagship models from competitors. I have 3 robovacs (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, Roborock S6 pure) and rate the j5+ highly. I have 270 hours on it so far with no issues
r/RobotVacuums • Looking for budget-friendly recommendations for pet hair ->Is the obstacle avoidance comparable to your j9? The j series obstacle avoidance is underrated IMO
r/roomba • Got the new Roomba 705 Max ->Obstacle detection/avoidance of the j series is good, it's the navigation that is problematic (hard hitting walls/furniture, poor coverage, and getting lost) I feel that this model needs better anti-tangling tech to be more competitive
r/RobotVacuums • New Roomba with roller mop ->I just went through this. iRobot invented the robovac. Just go with. MIT engineered and headquartered in the US. Maintenance kits readily available. Same company makes robots for military. I bought the j9+.
r/RobotVacuums • What robot vacuum is everybody looking to buy Black Friday? ->I just bought a j9+ and it’s awesome. The vacuum is not that loud. The base sounds like a jet taking off. Only runs for a few seconds but it is loud. I don’t care though. I love it. Works great, mapping is good, and cleaning is fairly quick. Great navigation. We just got a dog and house is still clean all the time. I did a ton of reading and research. Incredibly happy with this purchase.
r/roomba • I’m looking at the Roomba J9+ to mainly help with dog shedding ->They were great 7 years ago. Try the new ones. J9+ ect. I'm not arguing, it's just my opinion.
r/RobotVacuums • Shark vacuums are trash ->Only 1 short hair dog. It did a great job as far as cleaning goes... but the poop. It would plow through it, then stop and complain. Had to dry it all out, scrape it off, vacuum it with a shop vac, scrub it with a wire brush, etc. 4th time was too much. Just ordered a j9+ from home depot using amex points... maybe that will work out. Otherwise... you want a good deal on a used dog?
r/RobotVacuums • Robovac that avoids Poop? ->Irobot j9 and newer. They all have pet poop specifically mentioned in the warranty
r/RobotVacuums • Robovac that avoids Poop? ->Get something from Roborock with Lidar detection. Don't waste your money on iRobot stuff. They have fallen off in terms of quality lately. I've used two of RR's (one high end, one mid/high) and they outperform my J9+ without question. I have the iRobot J9+ and it's honestly disappointing. I would recommend nobody buy a robot vacuum without Lidar at this point. I've used two different Roborock systems dating back 4-5 years and are still superior to iRobot's new stuff with only camera based detection and mapping systems. My J9+ literally gets lost in its own map and struggles to navigate at times. Sometimes it wanders around with an error in the app until it redocks and restarts cleaning.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->I have the iRobot J9+ and it's honestly disappointing. Roborock would get my vote.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->Thanks for your post. I’ve just pre-ordered one and should be here within a week. I have a J9+ currently but am returning it as it bumps into things way too hard and the dirt detect feature is triggered all the time on a certain patterned carpet I have. The carpet is clean so I can only presume it’s the pattern that’s causing the issue so I can’t use it on that carpet now. I hope the dirt detect on the 705 doesn’t do the same or it’s a deal breaker :( Do you know if the lidar on the 705 has an issue with mirrors? I had an Ecovacs lidar in the past and it had issues with the full length wardrobe mirrors. I had to cover them up with paper when I was doing the mapping run but I hope I don’t have to do that with the 705. Also what is the size that the 705 sticks out from the wall please when on its dock as I can’t find that info anywhere. Thanks in advance :)
r/roomba • Got the new Roomba 705 Max ->I’m very happy with the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Mop with NeverTouch Pro Self-Cleaning Base. I got it from Costco. I first tried a Roborock and returned it bc it did a poor job vacuuming compared to my old Neato D7. Then I tried the IRobot Roomba J9 and returned it bc it doesn’t auto fill the mop water from the base. I’ve been drooling over the roller bar Eufy’s but YouTube video reviews (particularly Just a Dad videos) helped me decide. It didn’t seem to justify paying double what I paid for the shark…in fact it seems like the shark might clean better.
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendations for vac/mop for LVP flooring? ->The 9xx are robust creatures. 960 cleaning should be comparable to J7. J9 has better cleaning than both. The obstacle avoidance features in J7 will make it a lot less likely to get caught on things, but also likely to stay away from things you may want it to clean The robot itself doesn't have that much more that could break. The j series are easy maintenance I'd be concerned about battery on a 9xx since they are old, may need to buy a new one.
r/roomba • Roomba 960 VS J7+ ( both from IRobot Ebay refurbished store) ->I jumped at the 705 for upstairs (all carpets). Downstairs I still have a combo of j9 and braava m6 mop but I’m waiting for the rumoured 705 combo roller mop which I’ll grab for downstairs (mostly hard floors). Plus 505 Combo may be ok for you?
r/roomba • Roomba recs for prime day ->I got the J9 last year and it has broken more times than I can count. My clean station’s charging contacts have pushed in and I have to pry them up so it can charge. This is with it on a completely level hardwood floor (I checked). I am really upset that I spent so much for a product that breaks so frequently. Even the brush carriage fucked up. From get this, a thread from one of my wife’s dresses that had fallen on the ground
r/gadgets • iRobot’s future isn’t looking up ->Havent had an issue myself with the j9+(knock on wood) but did get it for $500. Had an i7+ before and so far atleast vaccumming seems to do better and not bang into things as much.
r/roomba • Roomba combo 10 - is it as bad as they say? ->There’s actually a roomba that does both vacuuming and light mopping (think of it like roomba swiffer). It has a reservoir of the liquid at the charging station and a bag dispenser for the dust as well. I never felt older than when I got genuinely excited for a roomba like I would for a console when I was younger. That’s my “treat yourself” buy when I get my next bonus lol
r/oddlysatisfying • Cleaning up the mess ->We have the mop vac combo (forgive me, I don't remember what exact model, but I DO know it is the self emptying combo w\ the removable dust filter "trash' bags, and has a grey "tweed" designer -look on the top. That probably makes no sense). At any rate, I LOVE the vacuum feature, esp the self-emptying component. However, the few times I have attempted to use the mopping feature, it has not worked well at all. Admittedly, my model could be a slightly older model, like maybe last year's, so take that for what it's worth. It starts off fine, but after no more than 10 min if that, it seems to get stuck. What it's stuck on is beyond me because it happens in dining room each time & sounds like it's spinning it's wheels (like a car stuck in mud). There are no rugs, chairs are moved out of the way & there's no visible debris obstacles like one of my son's marbles or a plastic milk cap or anything. Literally just hardwood flooring. I've tried rebooting, I've tried popping the water/mop pad on & mopping immediately (thinking it would help reduce soaking & "puddling" near the wheels), I've tried wiping the wheels and following behind it to wipe up the drag marks of water. But it still spins & does nothing. I can't complain too much as I won it at my husband's Xmas work party raffle, and like I said the vac feature is excellent. Since we have a young son & a dog that sheds constantly, I'm ok w/just the vac👌
r/roomba • First time homeowner , considering buying a mop+vac with the prime day sale. Are the prices actually good? And any recommendations? ->iRobot already did that with their first generation iRobot Combo (R11xx). The Roomba Essential was also not made by iRobot. Now it seems none of them will be. I just don't understand the end game for iRobot. Are they just gonna be riding on the brand name from now on and slowly disappear into nothingness because why would OEM give 3rd party better tech and design than they use in their own robots? iRobot, as much as they've been weird and stubborn with some things, I still love their core design of robots since introduction of E series and later i. I loved how they ALL had identical main roller brushes, identical side brushes, identical filters, identical dust bins, identical almost everything. Not only it's cheaper for them to supply 1 type of each part, it's easier for users, for regular maintenance and repairs. I work in this part of the industry and I can't stress enough how many times customers/consumers have no clue what device they have, be it robot vacuum or a regular vacuum. If you just need to tell "I have a roomba" and that's all it's needed to know which part you supply. So many Chinese robots as well as ones from other well known brands like Electrolux, Philips and Rowenta have different parts for almost every model and it's soooooooooooo annoying.
r/roomba • Roomba 505 - cleaning video ->The ease of repair is not worth the price of this robot. I had a supposedly smart version of the J+ and it bumped forward practically and always against everything. The camera detected neither obstacles nor objects. In addition, their navigation was supposed to be smart but turned out to be weak and lost maps... Irobot is not worth the current price
r/RobotVacuums • Should I buy Chinese? ->Pretty darn happy with my roomba j7/9. Comes with a base station that it blows the content into. Super low maintenance that way.
r/germanshepherds • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Worth Buying Currently? ->My black Mova V50 is mostly matte. It's my #2 behind the Roomba j7/j9, those were really good looking robots.
r/RobotVacuums • Best designed robot vacuums, rank em | and why don't manufacturers care about the design? ->I have a j series its super easy to get long hair out of the rollers/wheels/whatever. Wife went through chemo and it was a test for the robot...both survived!
r/roomba • How effective is the j7+ at detangling long human hair? ->Yeah, Roomba’s been coasting on name recognition for years. Hardware’s fine, but the software is way behind Dreame, Roborock, even Ecovacs. J series especially has dumb pathing issues. You’re not crazy though. Plenty of us jumped ship 😅
r/RobotVacuums • When did Roomba lose its status at a quality product? ->The IRobot J series is quite terrible. They don't seem to have enough traction while mopping even on their lowest setting and using plain water, it'll just start sliding and not go in a straight line. Then it'll give up and be in the middle of a room. Also, the vacuuming is good with its dual rubber brushes but it seems the brushes pull up some of the moisture from the mop and then dust will clump up along with pet hair and clog before getting into the bin. I should've done more research than going with a Roomba. But I do like the obstacle avoidance.
r/RobotVacuums • Tell me something you wish you knew about robot vacuums before you bought one? ->once you get a i/J series with a Clean Base. you will never want to go back. When shedding season start , you can setup a daily clean up. and a weekly maintenance of the robot.
r/roomba • Our old 675 is doing a pretty good job with the fur fest of our house! ->I’ve had a Roomba for over 10 years now. It’s 100% worth it. I got it when I was a single cat lady in my 20s working long hours. Now I’m married and we have 2 kids, a cat and a dog. We upgraded to the Roomba that maps the house and empties itself in the docking station. It vacuums the whole house 3x a week and does the high traffic areas 5 nights a week after the kids go to bed. I do wish the mop version (Brava) worked better. I have not gotten that damn thing to properly map my house to mop for me and the solution that they sell for it makes all of our house shoes squeak for days.
r/workingmoms • What are the best robot vacuums in your opinion - Are they really worth the money? ->We love ours. We have one for upstairs and downstairs. Don’t try to get a cheap one, we did that and went through a couple of them pretty quickly. Now we have two good ones (iRobot) with the bin that they self empty into when they get full. We have three kids, two dogs, and a cat that sheds more than both dogs combined, and having robot vacuums has been a game changer. Before we got the one with the bins, it would get full and need emptying before it finished a whole cycle. Now it goes and empties itself and then goes back to cleaning. It’s some trial and error at first. Just run it the first few times when you’re watching it to see where it has any problems. Then you can try to adjust any problem areas. Our upstairs vacuum doesn’t go into the bedrooms because the kids have lots of tiny Barbie shoes and stuff. We have them clean up good and just regular vacuum real quick every other week or so (and we keep bedroom doors closed so the pets don’t go in there to keep hair shedding out). But the robot keeps the main areas of the house from getting hairballs and dirty. We recently got a robot mop as well, and that has been awesome! I feel like it’s just like having any other vacuum. You have to get everything picked up off the floor before you start. You wouldn’t start regular vacuuming with things still on the floor. If there are areas that it gets stuck often, either block it off or try to adjust any problem areas. We usually pull all of the dining room chairs away from the table so that it can get a good clean under the table and around it. We run the vacuums & mop anytime we leave the house, and it’s so nice coming home to freshly vacuumed and mopped floors!
r/IsItBullshit • IsItBullshit: are robot vacuums actually good and worth the money? ->I bought one well over a year ago possibly on year 2. iRobot self emptying. If it only lasted a year I’d buy another one. It works as well as it did when I bought it. I replace the rollers and the brush thingy like twice. Get the iRobot replacement the knock off parts lasted like a week. I have all tile. Bedroom is carpet. If it runs everyday it’s not a problem on carpet. If it’s a few days of fur it creates nests I just hand pick up. I don’t have to do this if it runs daily. Completely worth it. I also live near a beach and it straight picks up all the sand too. It’s great. Never not having one.
r/greatpyrenees • Does anyone use a Roomba? ->I guess I’m the outlier here but I love mine. I have the self emptying, mapping Roomba. It mapped my space great and does a really good job cleaning. Self emptying is the best upgrade, as I previously had a much cheaper model and haaaated emptying that thing constantly.
r/gadgets • iRobot’s future isn’t looking up ->I have a Roomba that I picked up from Costco. It can be controlled via app and it has a self emptying base.
r/husky • Best robot vacuum...for all the hair? ->They \*could\* but I doubt very much that they do; it would cost a lot. The biggest privacy risk is revealing a map of the layout of your home if your online account is hacked. I have an iRobot Roomba that empties its own bag into a base. Love it. Love not having to vacuum under beds and sofas. It took some prep to make my home ready for it--furniture needs to be high enough (and legs wide enough apart) for it to run up under. Lamp cords need to be secured. Don't run it automatically or when you're not home. Do clean the hair out of it after it runs (takes only a couple minutes). I run it once a week. I spend 3-4 minutes putting things like litter baskets and chairs up off the floor so it has a better reach, then schedule it to run 3x. Then turn the schedule off again and return loose items to the floor. Spend about a minute getting hair out of its rollers. I've had several good looks inside my Roomba and didn't see anything like microphones or cameras. Its bump sensors are not cameras. It does have an internet connection and so can be voice-controlled if you connect to Alexa or Google Home. But that is optional. If you only operate it with the app or onboard buttons, it cannot be voice controlled.
r/smarthome • Seeking the best Robot Vacuums - Can they really STEAL user data? ->We’ve used a self emptying Roomba for years. 3 dogs, a Basset, a Lab, and a Terrier. All are moderate shedders and fur accumulation is a problem. All three are indoor/outdoor dogs and mud is a consideration for us. We have area rugs from Costco that help dry paws and pick up some dirt. We launder them at a coin-op each month to save wear and tear on our washer. The Roomba is fine for keeping visible areas tidy, but one pass on the floor and the internal bin will fill with fur and dust. We still vacuum with a stick vac in corners and under furniture, Roomba can’t reach. No mopping robot can keep up with mud from paws if you live in a rainy muddy area. Invest in a good Swiffer wet mop or a light weight bucket based mop.
r/goldenretriever • How do you handle daily dog hair and messes? ->I started with a eufy and it was pretty good on all hardwood floors. It would pile some fire up in the corners I could pick up. But then I upgraded to a roomba with the self emptying thing and I love it. The app and tutorials are very helpful.
r/homeowners • What robot vacuums for pet hair do you absolutely swear by? Good brands that you love? ->I have the Wyze robot vac and a roomba self emptying vac. I vastly prefer the performance of the wyze vac.
r/BuyItForLife • Robot vacuum recommendation? ->I have a self emptying roomba vacuum. It runs daily at 9:30 am, recharges and empties itself, then finishes rhe rest around 2 in the afternoon. I live on a horse farm with 4 dogs and 5 cats and only if its muddy do shoes come off at the door. That robot is a wonderful thing.
r/CleaningTips • What’s the one cleaning hack that actually keeps your house clean every day? ->I have an IRobot Roomba self emptying one! It literally just got done vacuuming. Genuinely LIFE CHANGING. I got mine as a Christmas gift and it’s great but I’d probably go with the Shark 2 in 1 self emptying robot mop/vacuum when my Roomba dies. I run mine at least 2 times a day and I think it helps keep it where hairballs don’t build up and get stuck in it.
r/husky • Best robot vacuum...for all the hair? ->Two huskies here. We have a self emptying Roomba. We run it 5 days a week. I have to keep up with the replacement parts, or it starts just wadding up hair and leaving it in chunks. But even that cuts manual cleaning time, because I can just take the hand vac to the chunks. We've had it since 2021.
r/husky • Best robot vacuum...for all the hair? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
