"It also doesn’t bump into stuff, slows down and turns around before running into anything. I am impressed. ... The navigation is night and day between this and J9+, no more bumping or getting lost. ... I think it’s better, it has the front facing camera which looks to be higher resolution, plus the LiDAR does make a huge difference to the speed of navigation, plus it doesn’t bump into furniture or doors anymore."
"the obstacle avoidance is far and away an improvement over what we had before."
"does the job faster. ... takes half the time to complete vacuuming ... I think the better navigation helps it clean more efficiently and way faster."

"Suction wise I think it's even better than S9+. ... I think it's great. ... because I feel this cleans better than S9+. ... 705 I find does a better job of vacuuming carpets than even the beast that was S9+."
"705 only offers vac (no mop) but it's much better as a vac than 505 is."
"my real world experience is the roomba 705 hands down outperforms the mova v50 in vacuuming power ... the dustbins dont lie ... picking up more crud"

"was the only one (except roomba 205) that was able to clean mine , with y-pattern for mopping"
"My tile floor was always oily and foggy, now this robot made my floor reflective and screechy it feels weird lol ... when it finishes cleaning my hard floor, the floor was spotless, and the mopping is crazy. ... I had to use my Dyson v15s to achieve the cleanliness and less oily, now this robot doesn't need that, and it also doesn't need cleaner solutions to get that sweet clean floor."
"the mop roller blows my mind. ... at least when it finishes cleaning my hard floor, the floor was spotless, and the mopping is crazy. ... "It is significantly quieter ... Significantly quieter, even the base auto empty is quieter now. ... I can run 705 with my cats in the same room now, before the S9/J9 were an actual nuisance with noise."
"It is quiet."

"I upgraded to a roomba with the self emptying thing and I love it."
"Now we have two good ones (iRobot) with the bin that they self empty into when they get full. ... Before we got the one with the bins, it would get full and need emptying before it finished a whole cycle. Now it goes and empties itself and then goes back to cleaning."
"It runs daily at 9:30 am, recharges and empties itself, then finishes rhe rest around 2 in the afternoon. ... That robot is a wonderful thing."

"Vacuumwise no combo model i have tested so far is going to remove fine dust well from your floor."
"one pass on the floor and the internal bin will fill with fur and dust."
"I test the longterm vacuuming performance (and connected to this to what extend the robot is able ro replace manual cleaning) using certified test dust for both hardfloor and carpets that simulates household dust that is much more difficult to remove even compared to sand (and is mandantory for IEC testing standards for all vacuuming cleaning devices including vacuum robots). ... If you may have seen some of my latest videos or especially about the Saros 10R hardfloor part ... you have seen that these units are no able to remove this dust from my laminat by vacuuming only - they need mopping - and even with mopping they are not able to remove the dust in the gaps/grouts - something that some (by far not all) vacuuming focused robots are able to do without problems. ... besides the iRobot Max 705 that also fails this test"

"However, the few times I have attempted to use the mopping feature, it has not worked well at all. ... It starts off fine, but after no more than 10 min if that, it seems to get stuck. ... What it's stuck on is beyond me because it happens in dining room each time & sounds like it's spinning it's wheels (like a car stuck in mud). ... There are no rugs, chairs are moved out of the way & there's no visible debris obstacles like one of my son's marbles or a plastic milk cap or anything. Literally just hardwood flooring. ... I've tried rebooting, I've tried popping the water/mop pad on & mopping immediately (thinking it would help reduce soaking & "puddling" near the wheels), I've tried wiping the wheels and following behind it to wipe up the drag marks of water. But it still spins & does nothing."

"Does yours actually heat while it’s performing an auto wash? Mine is set to 161° but it is clearly not getting anywhere close to that temperature. ... Mine is still not heating and after 2 weeks of using it and having emptied and washed the brush roll, dirty water tanks, base multiple times, I am about ready to send it back. ... In my case, everything is cold immediately after it finishes. 😭"

"In my opinion, the Roomba 705 Combo Max was the best cleaner, but the side brush was too noisy. ... I really wanted to keep it, but ended up returning it because of the noise, otherwise my wife wouldn’t have let me run it. ... Yes, after testing most of the flagship robots, I found the Combo 705 Max to be one of the loudest, even in quiet mode, mainly because of the side brush."

"My was leaking and not emptying the internal dirty water tank into the base tank. ... I tried calling iRobot and even sent them videos but they couldn’t figure it out."
Just bought the roborock and am very happy with it. Pretty surprised at how well it worked. 10x better than the iRobot 705 max combo I bought and had to return within 2 weeks of use.
The mopping performance of their current bots (505 Combo and 705 Combo) is actually very good, arguably the best on the market due to the Y pattern movement.
Does yours actually heat while it’s performing an auto wash? Mine is set to 161° but it is clearly not getting anywhere close to that temperature. After a few days, it is not smelling good either - which should be avoided as 161° is hot enough to eliminate most bacteria that cause smell smells.
I think the reason for distilled water is so that the minerals in tap water don't cause build up in the heating element. Mine is still not heating and after 2 weeks of using it and having emptied and washed the brush roll, dirty water tanks, base multiple times, I am about ready to send it back. It's starting to just smell musty, and that shouldn't happen if it would actually heat to 161 degrees. Let me know how yours does.
Hmm sounds like I might have a defective unit. I’m still within the return period. So I think I’ll just exchange it. Thanks for sharing the information and hope you have a good luck with yours. Fingers crossed I get a good replacement.
Yeah, it seems like it’s probably working in your case thankfully. In my case, everything is cold immediately after it finishes. 😭 I think I’m just going to try having them exchange it. I’ve had probably over a dozen different model Roomba’s since 2004 and never really had an issue like this so I’m just going to chalk it up to this being a one off incident.
The Roomba Max 705 Combo does, and is achieved by filling the robot with hot water in between each room. I’ve measured the mop roller temperature using a thermal camera and starts at 101°s and by the time it’s finish with a large room, it’s down to about 90°.
Do you notice if it sucks water into the dry when running the mop & vacuum? That’s one of the major issues I’m having with my Roomba Max 705 Combo (along with the auto wash constantly clogging)… My S2 should arrive by the end of the month..
I pre-ordered it to replace my Roomba Max 705 Combo that Amazon is taking back. I went with the Eufy S2 over the other roller mop robots because of the electrolyzed water function. I like the idea of the system preventing bacterial buildup in the mop roller. I’m also hoping it will help with the dock dirty water tank in preventing smells. The Roomba is just rancid after about a week. I think I’ll inevitably get the auto drain and refill kit for this robot if I end up keeping it.
I currently have a Roomba Max 705 Combo, and after 4 replacements, I think it's time to abandon this model. I am considering the Eufy Omni S2 or the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai (improved Roomba/Picea design?). We have mostly Shaw engineered hardwood floors where this unit will run, and I am concerned that the "electrolyzed" water (ozonated?) will damage the finish. Any experience with the previous S1 or current S2 and engineered hardwoods?
I’ve noticed the dirty water tank in the robot and dock start to smell horrible on the 705 combo after a few days. The dock is especially unbearable, unless I add a scoop of Oxiclean to the docks empty dirty tank after it’s been cleaned. How did your S1 compare to the 705 in that regard? The electrolyzed water system intrigues me because it should theoretically keep the mop system much more sanitary.
Funny you should mention that about the Dyson.. My Roomba Max 705 Combo (same platform) has failed for the 4th time, due to the mopping system becoming clogged by pet hair. The Eufy interests me due to the electrolyzed water as that should help prevent bacterial growth in the dirty water tank and in the mop components. The Roomba’s dirty water tank starts to smell very bad after just a few days, unless I add a scoop of oxiclean to the docks dirty water tank every time I empty and rinse it. That will control smells for about a week in my experience. Do you think the Narwal flow would handle pet hair better than the Eufy S2?
Every time I hear through Google Home that my S9+ has gotten stuck and needs help, it tempts me to buy one of the new lidar models.. Then I remember how horrible my Max 705 Combo performs in hardwoods, and it makes me thankful to still have my S9+ for my carpeted upstairs..
I've been comparing the Flow and the Roomba 705 Combo side-by-side, and the Roomba's roller does have quite a bit more cleaning prowess than the Flow. Particularly it can clean out crevices and grooves much better. I'm not yet sure if it's because of its round shape, it's bristles, or the Y-pattern it does in "Smart Scrub".
There are a few compromises to be aware of. I've had a Saros 10 for almost a year, but I still send my Roomba J9 out once in a while to clean up what the Saros misses. I also have the Narwal Flow, Roomba 705, previously had Dreame and Ecovacs, and nothing can clean tight around chair legs, round table pedestals, etc. as well as the classic Roombas. Roomba roller brush design also picks up hair, fur, and fuzz on rugs much better than any other brand, regardless of reported power. Also, LIDAR-based robots won't clean under curtains or bedding like classic Roombas could. I'm only aware of Dreame/Mova having a setting to accommodate this. The Roombas (old and new) also have more advanced voice control via Google/Siri/Alexa that allows just vacuuming, and can specify zones in addition to rooms. All other brands can only "clean" which wastes time and water when you just need a quick vacuum. Also, the Roomba app is just way more efficient to use. Not saying the move isn't worth it overall, but there are some sacrifices to be aware of.
I currently have and have been testing the Narwal Flow, Ecovacs X11, and Roomba 705. Of these, the Roomba cleans hard floors the best, has a better app experience, is lowest maintenance, and has the best price (sorry you had trouble with yours, mine has been amazing). The Narwal is the quietest and most refined (makes smooth u-turns unlike any other). It also has the best object avoidance. The ecovacs has the best carpet cleaning.
Picea has committed to maintaining the Roomba brand. There shouldn't be any concern.
The 705 combo has a roller mop and the normal iRobot dual brush roller design. And if I’m remembering correctly it has higher suction as well.
I'm still running a Roomba S9+ and I'm yet to find something else that can handle my specific requirements. It's carpet performance is unmatched in real world performance. I do also have a Roborock Qrevo S, which was bought to replace the S9+, but it does nothing better than the Roomba (for my use case) other than the fact it can mop. I'm holding out for the Roomba 705 Combo that's apparently dropping in the next couple of months. The 705 doesn't match the carpet performance of the S9+ but if it can do a half decent job at carpets and also mop my one room with a hard floor then I'll probably end up purchasing that.
My roomba 705 combo has so far kept up with my husky
you can find much **messured** evidence on my yt channel that combo models are pretty mediocre at removing dust from carpets and even hardfloors and have little in common with vacuuming. Some vac only models do this very good. Using the mopping function also does not help in allmost cases to get dust out of smaller grooves or grouts (but this is mainly due to the used cleaning pattern as you can see with the iRobot 705 combo or even the 205 combo which are able to do so thanks to the used y-scrubbing pattern).
It really smells like the PICEA R2 ODM plattform https://preview.redd.it/l9h25l9jb6nf1.png?width=1523&format=png&auto=webp&s=d074168c9e387395ce35fa5d987dd22279e54ebb [https://www.piceacorp.com/solution/](https://www.piceacorp.com/solution/) Same the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is based on. If so this new Dyson Robot is not even close in vacuuming performance - there is even no marketing slider touching the vacuuming performance.
If the Vis Nav is not availalbe (and you want to buy new) it looks like your only option are combo ones. Vacuumwise no combo model i have tested so far is going to remove fine dust well from your floor. Adding mopping to mix they do but it comes down to your floortype. If you have smaller joints go with the iRobot 705 Combo (was the only one (except roomba 205) that was able to clean mine , with y-pattern for mopping) - if not it really does not matter that much judigeing from my testing. I would go with spinning mops since there edge and corner coverage is better. That said, i have not tested any robot of the latest releases or IFA releaeses (Mova Z50, Ecovacs X9 and Roomba Max 705 Combo were the newest i bought and tested).
we have both 705 models and are very happy with them
i would say as far as daily upkeep it is great. I’m not sure there is a bot that can scrub the floor as good as i do with a rag and a bucket. The fact that it is only two rooms is up to you as to what that convenience is worth to you.
We have had the new roomba 705 max for a week now and it is absolutely brilliant. Granted it is a vac only the suction is amazing, the mapping is spot on, and the obstacle avoidance is far and away an improvement over what we had before. I will admit i have not had other brands in our home, i fall into that category of being brand loyal if the brand hasn’t pissed me off. The reason we went with the vac only model was we liked how having a separate mop worked for us in the past. I didn’t know how i would feel about a tankless mop that drug wet pads across the house. All of our hard surfaces intersect so not really a big deal, but with that said if they came out with a mop only that had upgraded navigation as much as the 705 has i’d buy it tomorrow!
The odd thing about the worry about the company not being there is if people buy the products that won’t be an issue. We purchased the new 705 and are VERY happy with it.
we bought iRobot because we had their product in the past and had good results with it. i don’t feel it’s an inferior product because it does the job (and better than expected) at a price point at or below the last product i purchased from them 5 years ago. Could i have looked at other companies…maybe but i was satisfied with what i had before so i went back. I’m not entirely sure that your assessment of at a competitive price is correct from what i did see while waiting on the 705 to be released.
you obviously have way more time to spend researching and memorizing product info than i do. maybe you should have a youtube channel. I wanted a vac. It promised better suction than what i had. It has obstacle avoidance which is more than i had (btw it does work seemingly contrary to your opinion) I didn’t care to purchase a product that i knew nothing about or had no familiarity with so for me that was enough for me to make a decision to buy a $900 product without spending days researching products i generally don’t see in stores or see advertising for. I didn’t make a recommendation, i commented on your negative opinion of a vac because of speculation on the company’s solvency. Odds are someone will buy them if they don’t make their figures and that company will service them for a while. That said I can recommend the 705 if i am happy with it inspite of your negative opinion of it. Because i have had it cleaning my house for 2 weeks. The nap on the carpets have lifted again in the high traffic areas and it’s mapping and obstacle avoidance are exactly as advertised. It’s all in what you want to spend your money on.
we have both 705 models and are very happy with them
I have both 705 Max models and love them. I cannot say there haven’t been hiccups with the combo, but nothing that makes me want to light it on fire.
If you are concerned about hair i really would suggest getting a bit with dual rollers instead of the single. I have both 705 max models. Combo on the main floor for the lvp flooring. We have been pleased with them. i do kinda miss the dry sweeping option of having the brava but the navigation on the 705s is amazing and made me forget all about that until i wrote this comment.
My was leaking and not emptying the internal dirty water tank into the base tank. I tried calling iRobot and even sent them videos but they couldn’t figure it out. I call a friend who has a Combo 705 and we both had the same firmware. They replaced it and the replacement works perfectly.
