Bought an original roomba and enjoyed it, but over the years others were doing more for less with the same quality 🤷‍♂️

I have the original roombas but now two mop and vacuum euphys. They work good but I hate that they mop and vacuum at once sort of. I’d prefer all the hair to be gone before mopping occurs. Apparently most vacuums don’t have this feature.

I remember seeing their designs when I had one of the original zig zaggy bump-into-everything roombas that sounded like a jet engine. Seemed really cool at the time but when we lost our dog we didn't need a robot vacuum anymore, and by the time we were back in the market it seemed there were more capable and affordable options.

Mine is named Robbie, I can’t keep the floor clear enough to use him. My goal for the weekend is to clear his path. Wish me luck!

We use a professional backpack vacuum. The reason is that the motor is on the other side of the filter so that lasts longer. It also has hepa filters so you don’t breathe what is kicked up and a pet hair attachment makes pulling hair out of carpets easy. I have a roomba and it runs more often than we vacuum. It gets tangled in hair quite often so I have to regularly flip it over and pull hair out of it. Good luck with finding a good hair solution!

I have 2 😅 We have a huge open plan ground floor so we have Marvin down there. Marvin has mapping capabilities and self empties, skills which are necessary for the space. On the first floor we have Kevin. Kevin is a bit dumber than his brother. No mapping, he just bumbles blindly around but that's fine because the rooms are more separate and it works. Then the loft conversation is just a bedroom and an ensuite so I just dump Kevin up there a couple of times a week. I adore them. Unexpected benefit is they force you to keep the house tidy which I love!

They are both iRobot ones. Kevin was bought on a deal he was about £300. Marvin was about £1.5k. To be honest I'm looking at getting one maybe two with mopping capabilities. But don't tell the boys in thinking of replacing them 😅

From my experience I would stay away from Roomba. I’ve had nothing but issue with my S9. I’ve blown 5 blower motors due to the fan inside being cheap plastic. I’ve gone through 1 brush module and decided to rig something else because it uses a metal screw and a plastic female threads so naturally it strips out after 2 cleans. Had first gen roomba and that was a tank. Now I’ll never buy roomba again

The first Roombas did this, but it is no longer possible without an app. Evolution, they call it.
