1. Ignore the pascal values when given to you by the manufacturer. I don’t consider it whenever I’m reading reviews. Most values are often gamed as they measure it at the fan inlet after the filter and doesn’t translate to the pascal value on the ground and also doesn’t translate to good cleaning. This also applies to 4. 2. I’d avoid picea (also known as 3i Robotix) made robots as iRobot has outsourced this robot to picea. The roomba app and mapping is a common complaint though, regardless of whether or not it is iRobot or picea made. 3. You get what you pay for when it comes to obstacle avoidance. iRobot is not really a leader in the obstacle avoidance space. I remember it had a model where it’ll reverse the brush rollers when detecting it swallows a cable. Much better brands are dreame/MOVA models with the sensor array found on the L/X40 Ultra, narwal’s RGB camera enabled models, Eufy’s models with the binocular dtof 3D matrix sensors. 5 and 6 Stupid software issue. Anti-tangling. The TriCut brush compatible with dreame, mova, and some Xiaomi models is the cheapest anti-tangling option that effectively works. I have a long haired corgi and it works great. Other options using sharp combs and cutters in the base station are generally less effective. The most expensive anti-tangling option are the ones that use airflow to push the tangle to the end of the brush like Dyson’s screw-shaped brush. The anti-tangle effect will be inactivated if the rubber on it is cut. Eufy, Dreame/MOVA, Narwal, and roborock have models that use this approach.

r/RobotVacuumsIs roller mop+strong suction the best combo for dealing with pet mess?

r/homeautomationWhat robotic vacuum works best for both carpet and hardwood? No budget restrictions.

Just be warned the Eufys only come with a 1 year warranty. My S1 Pro died after 8 months. Replaced it with a Mova E40 Ultra which has a 3 year warranty and loving it so far. The S1 Pro was great, but wouldn't personally buy Eufy again.

r/RobotVacuumsAre robot vacuum companies distracting us from what really matters - suction power?

Our Mova has mopping but it's not a *requirement* per say, I believe you can run it with the mop pads off. It's been stronger than our beat up old vacuum though, there's no hair on our rugs or our hardwood flooring and it's rated I think at like 19k

its a total gamble. had a no-name brand beformy mova vacuum and it was a disaster. spending a bit more on a known brand is 100% worth it for the brainy features. excited to see what they have on sale for black friday.

personally I’ve tried ecobot / debot (?) and roborock, and I’ve had much better performance/reliability/navigation with roborock. I just got a Mova (same company as Dreame apparently) and used it for two days and it seems good so far - app not as good but fine, navigation maybe not quite as good, and hardware might be slightly more “sloppy” - like noisy, clunky, etc., but seems good overall. Actually the Mova seems to have better object recognition probably, although it doesn’t deal with carpets as well so far. anyway….. my experience is that roborock is pretty solid.. other ones, there are good ones I’m sure, but I would be more cautious and read a lot of reviews.
