Just a quick note, that wheel issue is DEF not resolved in the P50. I had 2 break within a few weeks of one another just last month.

I think everyone has a different experience with robots they test, and they're always valid, but I guess I have a few questions about the top picks that are worth discussion. The P50 has a known hardware problem that people still experience all the time (broken wheel) that can only be fixed by a robot swap. Is that not a concern? I didn't think it was a fantastic robot aside from that, but the hardware problem is a big enough deal not to recommend it. Your choice for pets and hair doesn't have a razor to cut the hair. I liked the Curv a lot, its one of my favs, but not for this application, because hair got caught around the roller and the sweep. I have long hair, but my dog has short hair, and it was good at getting up short hair, but there are better. Did you not experience any leaking from the Aqua? I did and I know a few others did as well.

some thoughts. first, buy it next week since most are on [sale.](https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/comments/1nvsulx/comment/nhmjcxj/?context=1) Some thoughts on the models above: the p50 has a known hardware problem that they never seem to solve. Skip it. The S70 is a gimmick and separately, not a great vacuum. Trying to be too much. The Aqua 10 is fine, but leaks for a lot of people. I like the x9 or the 10R as options.... the Dreame models you noted aren't my favs.

Love my P50 Ultra, hate the support. I've owned it 6 months or so and since day one I've been waiting to get a replacement roller to see if a random clicking noise is due to a defective roller or something else. After I finally had them ship me a new one, they shipped the wrong roller. Then they said the correct was out of stock, so they gave me a 20% off coupon for the store with the promise of sending the roller out when it was back in stock. That's been delivered today, so we'll see if it's the right one this time.

We've had it nearly two months and we haven't had to empty it yet despite owning a labrador! I do take the filter out of the vacuum and compressed air spray it once a month as well as general vac maintenance because dog hair gets everywhere

After tearing my proverbial hair out we ended up with the Mova P50 Ultra with my Labrador that sheds CONSTANTLY. We ran it two or three times a day for the first couple days, cleaned out the filter and dust bin then set it to once a day scheduled. I no longer have to brush fur off my socks before I put my shoes on! Corner cleaning, self emptying, even mops

I will say that while it claims to be anti hair (and it is! To an extent) I always take the roller out and clean the machine once a month to prevent build up because lab hair gets everywhere

We have a Mova P50 Ultra and for the first time since I got him I don't have to worry about dog hair on my socks when I put my shoes on. It's been the best investment ever. My dog doesn't poop in the house though, and he comes to work with me so it's set up on a timer to run when we're both out so there's no potential Poopsasters.

Our P50 Ultra Mova is generally pretty good, but it does like to eat the occasional stray cord. I came home once to find it had eaten our egg cooker cord that was accidentally left dangling and had dragged it half way across the living room. Fun times. Everything still worked after fortunately. It also liked to eat a singular cord under the bed no matter how tucked out of the way it was. I said liked, because we had it for three months then had to send it in for repair and it's been gone for almost as long as we had it.

51m2 reporting for duty, we have the Mova P50 Ultra that we got a mammoth 300 off due to sales. It's been with us for a couple of weeks now, runs daily and it's so nice to not brush dog hair off my feet every time I sit down. It also runs the mop over our floor brilliantly, but we're not a shoes on in the house and the dog gets cleaned off in the bathroom if he's dirty. Aside from sacrificing the egg cooker because it didn't detect the power cord and sucker punching our Lab a couple of times, the Kraken is now a fully integrated member of our household and j wouldn't have it any other way.

Ours Auto Empties, Auto washes it's own mop pads and dries them with hot air! You have to seldom empty the dirty water container and we haven't had to empty the dust bag yet. It also has a little arm that extends into the corners and even the mop pad in the back pops into the corner in the same way

Our Mova has mopping but it's not a *requirement* per say, I believe you can run it with the mop pads off. It's been stronger than our beat up old vacuum though, there's no hair on our rugs or our hardwood flooring and it's rated I think at like 19k

The Mova P50 Ultra is probably the best fit for your needs and budget, the P10 Pro Ultra would also work if you want to save a bit. But I would upgrade to the tri-cut brush since you have pets.

r/RobotVacuumsX40 ultra or Eufy E25

I have an Eufy E25 and a Mova P50 Ultra, which is almost identical to the Dreame X40 Ultra. I got them through Amazon Vine and I've used them for several weeks Both have very good apps and a good vacuum and mop performance. The Eufy has a roller mop while the Dreamy has mop pads. Main issues: \- the Eufy is small and fast. It can go into tighter spaces. But it has issues climbing on high carpets (>2cm) \- the Eufy mop drying - which lasts for several hours - is quite noisy. I need to time the schedules so that the drying is finished before I get home \- the Mova/Dreame uses much more water than my other robots, mainly for the mop cleaning. I need to add water every week (70m2 floor cleaned twice a week). \- both have a dust bag in the station, which is inconvenient. I very much prefer a solid dust container (my Shark has one) So far, I prefer the Mova/Dreame.

r/RobotVacuumseufy E25 or dreame X40 ultra?

I have both the Eufy E25 and the Mova P50 Ultra, which is almost identical to the Dream X40 Ultra. I received them through Amazon Vine, so I didn't get to order those robots models among a large choice. I prefer the Mova/Dreame, because: \- the Eufy is compact, but it has problems climbing on carpets which are 2cm high. I can't use it in my living room for that reason. \- the drying of the mop in the Eufy is much louder, I need to schedule my cleaning so that the drying (3 hours) is over when I arrive home, otherwise there is this constant quite loud humming of the fan The two robots have different mopping systems (Eufy = roll, Mova/Dreame = 2 rotating pads), but I think the cleaning result is very similar. My floors are never very dirty, so I can't really see a difference. The disadvantages of the Mova/Dreame are that it uses a lot of water for cleaning the mops, so it must be refilled every couple of days. And carpets can only be placed on the map in parallel with walls, not freely. I want my robot to clean the floor and carpets in separate schedules, but it's impossible to do with the Mova, because I can't mark the exact place of the carpet on the map in my oddly shaped living room. The apps of both robots are quite good (apart from that carpet mapping problem with the Mova) and the connectivity is reliable.

If pet poop and wires aren’t an issue, the MOVA P50 Ultra at 1999 AUD will be the best value buy. It’s basically the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra without an RGB camera. The Dreame L40S Ultra is also at the same price and will be better for pet fur as it can compress the fur in the dust bin as it vacuums and comes with a detangling brush whereas the P50 needs a TriCut brush to be anti-tangling.

r/RobotVacuumsWhich robot vacuum fits my situation the best?

Generally for maintenance you’d need to tap the dust out of the dustbin filter once every few cleaning runs (you need to do it after every run for the first few times using the robot). Youd have to give it a good rinse once every week or every two weeks and let it dry for at least 24 hours You’d also have to wipe down any dust and/or mud once every two weeks or so. Once every month, you’d need to wash the dustbin and let it dry completely for at least 24 hours. To prevent annoying to clean mud, run the robot to vacuum first then mop. The dreame L/X50, the L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and the MOVA P50S Ultra and the MOVA V50 Ultra can clean their dustbin filter when autoemptying which helps remove the need to tap the dust out of the filter. For combo models with an all in one base station. You’d also have to refill and empty the dirty water tanks (best to rinse them every time you do so) as soon as they get empty or get full and give the dirty water tank a good scrub with dish soap once in a while. Odor can be an issue. I recommend adding a silver ion module to the clean water tank and dirty water tank and a deodorization module to the dirty water tank to reduce needed maintenance and any bacterial biofilm from forming. With these modules, please rinse the dirty water tank’s modules every time you empty it. Please don’t leave the dirty water tank alone for more than 2 days as mold and gross bacteria can grow in there.

Oh wow that’s a great price then. The x50 ultra is a pretty good choice. There’s also the MOVA V50 ultra which has a basically smaller base station and can dry the dustbin and dustbag which is good at helping prevent mildew and mold growing there if your region is rather humid.

r/RobotVacuumsWhat generally goes wrong in a vacuum+mop+cleaning robot? What to watch out for?

1. It really depends on your purchasing region. Costco is a popular choice given its generous return policy but choices are rather limited compared to buying from Amazon which has an easy return policy within 30 days. For other purchasing regions, buying from a reputable retailer with a good return policy and an optional protection plan would be good. In Australia, I heard Harvey Norman is nicer with returns compared to JB HIFI. 2. The robots with the best self cleaning will be Dreame’s L/X50 Ultra/L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and MOVA’s V50 Ultra P50S Ultra > MOVA’s P50 Ultra/ Pro Ultra > Roborock’s models that have spinning mops with the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 (roborock models with a vibrating mop have a washboard that is more difficult to clean as you can’t remove it) ≈ Narwal Freo models (completely detachable base) > Dreame’s models with the mop-driven wiper mop washboard (cleaning the wiper washboard is rather difficult since there’s too many nooks and crannies and you’d still have to get down to clean the areas the wipers can’t reach) > other combo robots with an all in one base station As for combo robots with roller mops and have an all in one base station, the washboard is generally flat with a few grooves so it’s pretty easy to clean. I believe most of their washboards are removable. However, it’ll require more cleaning in the mop compartment and dirty water tank. Most roller mop models have an annoying cylindrical component which drives the roller mop like an upright wet dry vacuum but you can’t remove or move it to give it a deeper clean even if gunk is stuck on it. The only combos that are close to the level of self cleaning for spinning mop models are Dreame’s Aqua 10 Pro track, the MOVA Z50 Ultra, and the Narwal Flow since both have self-cleaning mechanisms that are made to also clean the dirty water tank and the mop compartment while also having a very easy to clean mop compartment since the thing that moves the mops is also completely removable. If you want to support a US startup, you could look at the Matic since it’s a vacuum and mop robot but taking care of it looks rather easy since it lacks a base station. The maintenance involved is replacing the bag, refilling the water with a cleaning solution of choice, occasionally cleaning the roller mop, the roller mop filter, cleaning the brush roller and de clogging the mop tubes if needed.

r/RobotVacuumsMost capable robot vacuum that can handle sliding door tracks thresholds?

The dreame X50 ultra, L50 Ultra (not the L50 Pro ultra), MOVA V50 ultra, and the MOVA P50S Ultra (not the P50 Pro ultra) should definitely cross this with no issues. Most dreame/MOVA robots, even without special threshold crossing abilities, have pretty good threshold crossing abilities. You could also look at the Dreame L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra or the L50 Pro Ultra with the EasyLeap additional pair of wheels that are made to climb thresholds like this (they’re shaped like a windmill or shuriken to better grip onto ledges). The roborock models with the Adaptlift feature should be able to cross this just fine. Other robots can cross a threshold of 2cm with no issues but that assumes the thresholds are smooth with no grooves. No clue about them crossing this kind of threshold though.

Only iRobot models have the patent to detect when the dustbin is full so they can empty the dustbin in time. However, brands are finding ways to circumvent this. Check if the dustbin is clean. Dreame/MOVA robots with the onboard fur compression feature will do much better. It will automatically compress the dog fur once every 28 sqm- 40 sqm. This model is featured on all robots with dual antitangling conical brushes.

r/RobotVacuumsWhy do all robot vacuums seem to have a shelf life of like three months before they start having issues?

It is mainly a result of confirmation bias, and most online posts are subject to the self-selecting bias. Many well-made robot vacuums can go much longer, and so even well-made combo vacuum and mop robots are still lasting well. Brands I'd go for: Dreame can have well built robots (I'd avoid the aqua 10 roller for now as there seems to be a design flaw) customer service depends heavily on region and there's mixed feedback regarding this; Eufy has generally solid customer service all around; MOVA seems to have pretty solid build quality, other than the p50 for the NA market (broken front wheel) and the z50 (docking issue due to a design flaw), solid customer service seems to be better than dreame's even though they're serviced by the same group as dreame owns MOVA; Narwal which hasbuild quality seems to be pretty good with some reporting it still worked flawlessly even though it fell off a flight of stairs because their cliff sensors are a bit weird, customer service reviews are mixed; Roborock which has build quality seems to be solid overall but obstacle avoidance is their only flaw, mixed reviews of customer service from very negative to very positive); and Xiaomi which has generally solid build quality and customer service for its price (I bought from them before and when something got stuck in the wheel where I couldn't reach it, they fixed it and shipped it back in a week).

r/RobotVacuumsAny robot that CAN save me from dust under my sofa?

3.6 inches/9.1cm is quite a generous clearance. If you worry about it being good at avoiding things, brands like DJI, dreame, eufy, matic, mova, Narwal, will fare better than ecovacs and roborock at obstacle avoidance. Out of the brands I listed, dreame/mova models with a spinning mop and a retracting lidar will fit. If you’re okay with tidying up, ecovacs (t50) and roborock (Saros lineup, Curv X) also have options that are also short enough to fit under there. As for long hair, dreame/MOVA and roborock do better mainly because they rely on the airflow directing any tangled hair into the dustbin instead of combing it like ecovacs.

I’m posting this as a warning so others don’t have to go through the same experience I did. I bought the MOVA P50 Ultra for the first time, and it turned into a complete nightmare from day one. When it finally arrived, the front wheel was broken right out of the box. The design itself is honestly terrible — the front wheel is made of very fragile plastic, and it clearly can’t handle normal use or even shipping. To make things worse, the vacuum arrived late on the same day I had guests coming over, so instead of relying on a brand-new vacuum, I had to manually clean my entire house myself at the last minute. That alone was incredibly frustrating. Dealing with customer service was another headache. They were slow to respond, and every time I followed up by phone, they kept asking for the same details over and over again, as if nothing was documented. Eventually, they sent me a shipping label, but I had to carry the heavy vacuum myself and ship it via UPS, which was not easy at all. After that, I waited about three weeks to finally receive the replacement. At first, everything seemed fine… until the front wheel broke again during the very first use. At this point, it’s clear this is a design flaw, not bad luck. A vacuum at this price point should not have a critical part made out of such weak plastic. Just wanted to share my experience — please be aware before buying MOVA, especially the P50 Ultra. I really wish I had gone with a different brand.
