Thank you for your wonderful review. I think the Narwal Flow excels not only in cleaning performance but also in its maintenance design. Typically, roller mops come with a roller mechanism, making cleaning around that area difficult. However, the Flow features a fully removable design, and its dirty water tank and scraper are self-cleaning, meaning the main mop mechanism requires almost no cleaning. This makes it truly unique among roller mop-type robot vacuums. As you mentioned, the cleaning tray in the base station does seem to get dirty relatively easily. However, the XiaoYao 002MAX (tentatively named Narwal Flow Ultra) appears to have an improved disposable filter that reduces debris buildup. Reference: https://post.smzdm.com/p/a44oego8/ Personally, I'm keeping an eye on its effectiveness and compatibility with the Narwal Flow's tray.

How is the dust collection setting configured? Please try setting the frequency to “Always.” When set to “Always,” the Narwal robot will empty the dustbin at the start of every subsequent cleaning session. (Note that this occurs before cleaning, not after.) Due to patent issues, it appears that products other than iRobot do not have the capability to detect when the dustbin is full.

Have four dogs and two cats. I have one Narwal Freo z ultra on each floor of the house. You might want the newer models but these work fine for me for now. I’m seeing folks are having issues with the Narwal flow 2 so I’m staying away from that for now.

I bought an inexpensive one a few years back that just randomly bounces around vacuuming until the battery gets low enough for it to return to the dock. I liked it for keeping up with small debris and crumbs but it wasn’t the best. Ended up upgrading to the Narwhal Freo and I love it. It runs every night and gets a lot of the dust, dirt, and crumbs up. I basically don’t need to sweep daily anymore. It doesn’t replace a deep clean and the mop feature on it isn’t great, but the time saved is the real seller for me.

You have obviously experienced the wrong bot(s). They get really good, and overcome many of the hassles you've expressed, when you get to the high-end models. They get pricey, but a top-tier Narwal or Roborock will change your tune. Comparing them to a sub-$500 Shark or Roomba is a mistake. Like saying a Ferrari must suck because your Civic can barely do the speed limit. There's still limitations, and a vacuum will always make some noise, but there's a reason that people really like their expensive bots.

I have a narwal vaccume/mop combo and I love it. Pros: It has automatic sensors that detect between soft and hard floors for the mop. The lidar mapping makes it supper efficient and does a very even clean. This also means it has an interactive map on the app so creating "no go" zones and editing where it can and cant go it super easy. I notice a difference on the days I dont run it, so for daily maintenance I have been very happy. The water tanks are massive so I only have to refill/empty every three uses or so. The driving wheels are incredibly powerfull so it navigates uneven floors like a pro. The few times I had issues or questions the customer service was great! Cons: The units ate on the higher end cost wise for similar robots. The lidar reader is a bit bulky so it doesnt get under as much furniture as my old non fancy robot vac did so I still vaccume once a week to get the "corners" and under certain furniture. It only takes a very specific mopping solution and its kind of pricey. (But it last for a long time and has no scent) It is a bit too "smart for its own good" needs an app and wifi to run, which is a personal pet peeve as mine, but I have never had any issues with the user interface. The vaccume bin is small and need to be emptied daily.

Narwal Is the only robot that even attempts to clean the baseboard but the only thing the frio z or x does is run a muff along it. It doesn't actually clean. It's a duster. And the frio x and z have some other problems. Notably they are water hogs and you have to refill the water all the time. After every single run.

I have tested tons and tons of robovacs (professionally) and yes, there are many worthwhile. There are many that aren't. I think this is a 2 headed problem: first, journalism isn't really set up to help you decide. Sites are monetizing reviews, and have to compete with AI and SEO, so they're formulated a specific way that make them not helpful. Second, you have to align your expectations properly. There isn't one "best", there's the best for your setup and situation and budget. Also, you have to understand that robovacs don't mean never sweeping, mopping or vacuuming again. They're good mostly at the "middle" of your room, and even that depends on how much you're willing to shift the items on your floor (cords, rugs, furniture). They can be fantastic accessibility tools, but they're not perfect... neither are humans.

If your house is clean and your floor is kept clear of cords and rando pet/kid stuff... You'll have pretty good success with almost any. Like a mid-range roboRock is probably going to be fine for you. I think the dreame x50 and x60 are spectacular in that kind of situation. I don't tend to love narwhals as much as other people cuz I think they use too much water but the flow isn't bad. I'm a really huge fan of the 3i brand, but because they're still relatively unknown, every time I bring them up people get into a furor.
