I bought an inexpensive one a few years back that just randomly bounces around vacuuming until the battery gets low enough for it to return to the dock. I liked it for keeping up with small debris and crumbs but it wasnât the best. Ended up upgrading to the Narwhal Freo and I love it. It runs every night and gets a lot of the dust, dirt, and crumbs up. I basically donât need to sweep daily anymore. It doesnât replace a deep clean and the mop feature on it isnât great, but the time saved is the real seller for me.
I have a narwal vaccume/mop combo and I love it. Pros: It has automatic sensors that detect between soft and hard floors for the mop. The lidar mapping makes it supper efficient and does a very even clean. This also means it has an interactive map on the app so creating "no go" zones and editing where it can and cant go it super easy. I notice a difference on the days I dont run it, so for daily maintenance I have been very happy. The water tanks are massive so I only have to refill/empty every three uses or so. The driving wheels are incredibly powerfull so it navigates uneven floors like a pro. The few times I had issues or questions the customer service was great! Cons: The units ate on the higher end cost wise for similar robots. The lidar reader is a bit bulky so it doesnt get under as much furniture as my old non fancy robot vac did so I still vaccume once a week to get the "corners" and under certain furniture. It only takes a very specific mopping solution and its kind of pricey. (But it last for a long time and has no scent) It is a bit too "smart for its own good" needs an app and wifi to run, which is a personal pet peeve as mine, but I have never had any issues with the user interface. The vaccume bin is small and need to be emptied daily.
I got one from Narval last month for around 20k, happy with the experience as of now
Narwal Is the only robot that even attempts to clean the baseboard but the only thing the frio z or x does is run a muff along it. It doesn't actually clean. It's a duster. And the frio x and z have some other problems. Notably they are water hogs and you have to refill the water all the time. After every single run.
I have tested tons and tons of robovacs (professionally) and yes, there are many worthwhile. There are many that aren't. I think this is a 2 headed problem: first, journalism isn't really set up to help you decide. Sites are monetizing reviews, and have to compete with AI and SEO, so they're formulated a specific way that make them not helpful. Second, you have to align your expectations properly. There isn't one "best", there's the best for your setup and situation and budget. Also, you have to understand that robovacs don't mean never sweeping, mopping or vacuuming again. They're good mostly at the "middle" of your room, and even that depends on how much you're willing to shift the items on your floor (cords, rugs, furniture). They can be fantastic accessibility tools, but they're not perfect... neither are humans.
If your house is clean and your floor is kept clear of cords and rando pet/kid stuff... You'll have pretty good success with almost any. Like a mid-range roboRock is probably going to be fine for you. I think the dreame x50 and x60 are spectacular in that kind of situation. I don't tend to love narwhals as much as other people cuz I think they use too much water but the flow isn't bad. I'm a really huge fan of the 3i brand, but because they're still relatively unknown, every time I bring them up people get into a furor.
this question is better for r/RobotVacuums lol, roombas are no longer a very good company but I have a eufy and a narwal and both are amazing.
I just ordered a narwal. Expensive af, but I had accumulated enough Amazon reward points to pay for it. Anyway itâs supposed to be incredible at avoiding objects, and many of the newer ones are great as well. I have a Roomba that Iâm replacing bc itâll just run over socks and toys, etc.
Its a mostly fine robot but not a fan of their mapping software. Much better mapping and software options. Don't care how sophisticated a robot is if their software sucks.Â
The basic and simple and frustrating issues with the Narwal software have been there now for well over a year. Problems that other redditors have posted over that time clearly show that timeline. Issues like mapping open concept spaces and having easy to use and manipulate split and merge lines have been solved years ago by other companies like Roborock and by Dreame. There is no excuse that Narwal - who has most definately been made aware of these issues long ago - has either chosen to ignore fixing 'merge/split' options (and more) or the current team is incapable of doing so. Agree. One day it may be fixed. One dayBut why should I wait when other companies have solved this issue a long time ago? Based on their current history of software development, I'm not holding my breath. If you're satisfied with their substandard software (and excellent robot build) that's fine. As a homeowner with a large open concept layout their mapping software is crap and pretty much renders using their robot useless unless I want to compromise how I use a Narwal. Something that is not an issue with Roborock or Dreame or Mova (and probably others also). So if a home has basically traditiona wall spaces.Sure. Narwal is great. If the layout is open concept. Then....Narwal no.
Highly recommend de Narwal brand that also mops. I love mine. I do a quick âpick up stuff from the floor and put it higherâ round and then press start and voila.
