"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"The X40 is so far ahead in the object avoidance realm that it's not even a contest. ... I have my Dreame X40 running at midnight every day and never have to worry about it getting stuck on something or caught on something because it's object avoidance works so well, even in the dark and on all surfaces. ... It stays clear of cat toys, cords, socks, paper towels and all sorts of random household junk. ... the fact that I can run the Dreame daily will keep my house cleaner."

"The obstacle avoidance is also very good and I only have the pet in house setting on for pet messes and it recognizes my fake dog poop all the time and drive around it."

"I run it once a day, and mop a couple times a week. ... In fact, my wet/dry floor vacuum just died so its pulling even more work right now as it's the only real mop I now have, other than a Swiffer."

"My GOD am I glad I did. I had no idea how much I had been missing! ... We have 2 dogs and a cat, and live more rural. That means dirty paws folks, and a lot of them. The mopping and vacuuming has been no short of amazeballs. Not amazing. Amazeballs."

"The current champ of perfectly sparkling clean floors. ... Have 5 dogs tracking in dirt all day? Run this mop and go eat off the floor. That's how clean it is. ... Step aside spinny & vibration mops, this constantly clean roller mop is the champ. ... The mopping ability is light-years ahead of the Curv. ... The continously cleaning of fresh water is where is truly unique. ... You will be delighted and shocked on how amazing this E28 is. Its truly incomparable to any roborock. Get ready to start eating off your floors 😁😉"

"I have 3 parrots so the floor ALWAYS has something on it. Bird poo, food, small chunks of wood, doesn't matter robots got it covered."

"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."

"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."

"Roborock gave me hours of my life back and that's not an exaggeration."

"The self-emptying feature is a game-changer"

"I use routines for everything. My app allows me to create up to ten routines. It is very rare for me to use any other options because everything I need to do has been set up as a routine. I can completely customize the cleaning of any room or collection of rooms. I can even create a routine to clean the same room more than once if I want to. I can then use these routines in my schedules. ... Here you can customize cleaning by room or multiple rooms. You can select vacuuming, mopping, vacuuming and mopping or vacuum first and then mop. And you can select any intensity you want for any of these things. ... That brings us back the this screen where you can tap on any routine to select it and then press the start button. ... From here, I can start any one of them with a single tap."

"The self-cleaning station is a huge time-saver, as it takes care of the mopping pads for you."

"it is over-cautious with edges and corners, to the point that we occasionally have to sweep and mop manually under them."

"I just returned my S1 ... my thought was the extendo-arm for the sweeper and mop were not needed, they really work."

"But the X40 as a massive edge in corner cleaning"

"Also I didn’t like how much data the Narwal sent to servers. ... In the 2 weeks I had it, my firewall logs showed the Narwal sent over 20 GB of data. ... I had the remote video disabled so assume it was for vision AI analysis. ... Still, it shouldn’t need to send that much data."

"My firewall said the robot sent 2.5 GB to Narwal after a cleaning on Sunday. ... That bothers me, but I don't know that any of the Chinese manufacturers are strong for privacy."

"The freo z is a good model but a water hog. You have to change the water so often that it's a deal-breaker for me. ... Now they have a kit so you can wire it to your water line and you don't have to change it anymore but that's 200 bucks."

"I can’t get it to mop at all because it keeps throwing an error saying the clean water tank is empty when it isn’t. ... I’ve swapped tanks with identical ones from other Narwal models, gone through every troubleshooting step, and still no luck. ... At this point I have no choice but to send it back and order a replacement"

"the Freo needed to be refilled ALL THE TIME. like, after every mop run. That’s refilling the clean water and dumping the dirty water. Hard pass."

"I like my narwal flow but I have to reset it because it's acting crazy I saw somebody else that said there's was doing a lot of spinning and stuff and not going anywhere and that's what mine is doing also!"

"I ran into trouble with the vacuuming feature when it came to my high-pile carpets. ... It seemed like the vacuum just couldn’t handle the thickness, often sinking in and dragging the mop along. ... This extra drag made it get stuck quite a bit on the carpet."

"I like it but it's pretty scratched up on the top from getting stuck in a couple places and none of my other robots are scratched all up..."

Narwal Is the only robot that even attempts to clean the baseboard but the only thing the frio z or x does is run a muff along it. It doesn't actually clean. It's a duster. And the frio x and z have some other problems. Notably they are water hogs and you have to refill the water all the time. After every single run.

Its a mostly fine robot but not a fan of their mapping software. Much better mapping and software options. Don't care how sophisticated a robot is if their software sucks

The basic and simple and frustrating issues with the Narwal software have been there now for well over a year. Problems that other redditors have posted over that time clearly show that timeline. Issues like mapping open concept spaces and having easy to use and manipulate split and merge lines have been solved years ago by other companies like Roborock and by Dreame. There is no excuse that Narwal - who has most definately been made aware of these issues long ago - has either chosen to ignore fixing 'merge/split' options (and more) or the current team is incapable of doing so. Agree. One day it may be fixed. One dayBut why should I wait when other companies have solved this issue a long time ago? Based on their current history of software development, I'm not holding my breath. If you're satisfied with their substandard software (and excellent robot build) that's fine. As a homeowner with a large open concept layout their mapping software is crap and pretty much renders using their robot useless unless I want to compromise how I use a Narwal. Something that is not an issue with Roborock or Dreame or Mova (and probably others also). So if a home has basically traditiona wall spaces.Sure. Narwal is great. If the layout is open concept. Then....Narwal no.

I‘ve got a Freo X, and I really like it, so I’d recommend Narwal to you. Their new Freo Pro looks like it‘s got an upgraded side brush for better anti-tangling. Narwal does good at handling pet fur and preventing tangles. Hope that helps!

Sure about that? I have a Narwal. It vacuums and mops. You can choose the floor type both for mopping and vacuuming and pick if you want a damp or wet mop. It’s WELL worth the money in my opinion

I’ve found the narwal tangle free brush solution to be excellent. The newer roborock ones with the split brush looks like it would perform well too

Yes with my daughters long hair and constantly shedding Rottweilers the narwal is the first that hasn’t died or become too much hassle within the first year

I’ve tried a bunch of robots. I think the Eufy e25/e28 are the best bang for your buck. They will go on for cheap on Black Friday. They rival models double their price. They are very strong at mopping, great obstacle avoidance and have fixed their water tank which left drops before. I don’t care what all the reviewers say online, the roller mop style is far superior to spinning pads. Eufy for some reason do not get great scores on vacuum wars but I stopped going to him for advice as he rates on ridiculous criteria. Eufy will get your floors as clean as mopping yourself. If you want, wait for the S2 Pro to come out in the new year, but it will cost likely twice as much as the e25. Keep in mind the e28 is super useful for the spot cleaner, but is much louder at emptying due to the design. Good luck Edit: I’ve used narwal and ecovacs and have been sorely disappointed. Good on paper but not in real life testing. They get stuck a lot and never make it back home

We bought our first through Amazon because Costco didn't yet carry them- and thanks to Costco adding them, we now have one for each floor of the house. I absolutely love the feel of the floor on bare feet after using our Narwals!!

Narwal is known for its obstacle avoidance though, and based on my experience that is very well deserved.

r/RobotVacuums • So, with more and more roller/belt robot vacuums coming out, how likely are you to stick with the Eufy S1 Pro? ->
