Felt the same way until a buddy recommended Narwal freo x10 pro. I got it for around $450 during Black Friday, you definitely don't need to drop thousands on these... It’s been great for a busy house and saves so much time. Don't overthink it! Most midrange models are solid now. You really don't need a $1k+ flagship.
I got the narwal freo x10 pro on black friday and it’s pretty impressive so far. But everyone's situation is different, I'd suggest getting it at Costco. Their return policy is good if it doesn't work out for you.
We have have 4 cats and our robo vac (Narwal Freo X10 Pro) has the mopping pads. I like the mopping feature however it does take some experimenting to figure out the order/method that will work best for you. Mine did leave streaks at first but after some trial and error I found the order/methods that work for us: Vacuum separately from the mopping, not using the vacuum then mop feature; tile floors get mopped twice in a row; etc. Once you figure out what works to keep your floors streak free you can just program it to do exactly that.
Narwhal Freo Pro has been a lifesaver for me and my hardwoods. In blown away by how good it is at mapping the house and mopping while cleaning/drying the mop heads.
