I actually disagree with some of the comments here saying no robots can handle this. If you get a robot with a roller/track mop, it can definitely handle wet messes. I do think you want to still pick up the wet food before running it, though and then send it to tackle the remaining wet mess. You really don't want to run food through your robot vacuum or any sort of wet stuff through that vacuum port. That food is going to get sucked into the robot and the base station tubes, and eventually, it's going to spoil and make the whole machine smell like rotting food. It's a mess you don't want to deal with. I agree with the comment that a wet/dry vac (like the new Narwal S20) would be better for this kind of thing if you don't want to pick up the food. They really do function like a vacuum, picking up wet food and mopping at the same time. Its perfect for your use case. But if you don't mind picking up the food first, you can definitely get away with running a roller mop for the liquid spills. Something like the Narwal Flow 1/2 or the Qrevo Curv 2 flow would be good options.

> The system that keeps the mop cleaner while moping is the same system that clean the mop at the dock. Therefore there are fewer mechanical parts to fail. This is how most roller mops are. That’s not way people say they’re more maintenance nor is it why they say their is more added complexity

It’s not an outdated idea. The only roller mop that can claim less maintanence ins Narwal. Even then it’s still more maintenance that spinning mops. On top of that they chug water and you will be refilling the tanks twice as often

They will keep a clean floor clean but they won’t clean a dirty floor. There are trade offs. More maintenance, more complexity, high chance of failure vs spinning mops. If you deal with a lot of wet spills they’re a good choice

Narwal Is the only robot that even attempts to clean the baseboard but the only thing the frio z or x does is run a muff along it. It doesn't actually clean. It's a duster. And the frio x and z have some other problems. Notably they are water hogs and you have to refill the water all the time. After every single run.

I have tested tons and tons of robovacs (professionally) and yes, there are many worthwhile. There are many that aren't. I think this is a 2 headed problem: first, journalism isn't really set up to help you decide. Sites are monetizing reviews, and have to compete with AI and SEO, so they're formulated a specific way that make them not helpful. Second, you have to align your expectations properly. There isn't one "best", there's the best for your setup and situation and budget. Also, you have to understand that robovacs don't mean never sweeping, mopping or vacuuming again. They're good mostly at the "middle" of your room, and even that depends on how much you're willing to shift the items on your floor (cords, rugs, furniture). They can be fantastic accessibility tools, but they're not perfect... neither are humans.

If your house is clean and your floor is kept clear of cords and rando pet/kid stuff... You'll have pretty good success with almost any. Like a mid-range roboRock is probably going to be fine for you. I think the dreame x50 and x60 are spectacular in that kind of situation. I don't tend to love narwhals as much as other people cuz I think they use too much water but the flow isn't bad. I'm a really huge fan of the 3i brand, but because they're still relatively unknown, every time I bring them up people get into a furor.

this question is better for r/RobotVacuums lol, roombas are no longer a very good company but I have a eufy and a narwal and both are amazing.

I just ordered a narwal. Expensive af, but I had accumulated enough Amazon reward points to pay for it. Anyway it’s supposed to be incredible at avoiding objects, and many of the newer ones are great as well. I have a Roomba that I’m replacing bc it’ll just run over socks and toys, etc.

Its a mostly fine robot but not a fan of their mapping software. Much better mapping and software options. Don't care how sophisticated a robot is if their software sucks.

The basic and simple and frustrating issues with the Narwal software have been there now for well over a year. Problems that other redditors have posted over that time clearly show that timeline. Issues like mapping open concept spaces and having easy to use and manipulate split and merge lines have been solved years ago by other companies like Roborock and by Dreame. There is no excuse that Narwal - who has most definately been made aware of these issues long ago - has either chosen to ignore fixing 'merge/split' options (and more) or the current team is incapable of doing so. Agree. One day it may be fixed. One dayBut why should I wait when other companies have solved this issue a long time ago? Based on their current history of software development, I'm not holding my breath. If you're satisfied with their substandard software (and excellent robot build) that's fine. As a homeowner with a large open concept layout their mapping software is crap and pretty much renders using their robot useless unless I want to compromise how I use a Narwal. Something that is not an issue with Roborock or Dreame or Mova (and probably others also). So if a home has basically traditiona wall spaces.Sure. Narwal is great. If the layout is open concept. Then....Narwal no.

Highly recommend de Narwal brand that also mops. I love mine. I do a quick “pick up stuff from the floor and put it higher” round and then press start and voila.
