The differences between versions is typically pretty small if you're shopping between versions that are 1-2 yrs apart. Unless you \*really\* need a feature or just want the newest thing, I would never recommend folks upgrade in that window of time. My personal success metric on a robot vacuum is simply whether I need to babysit it. My old Neato Botvac D7 required a lot of attention, brush maintenance, and would still get lost periodically. It was best of breed back in the day, but enough time elapsed that switching to the Curv was game changing. I ended up buying a second Curv for the 2nd floor, despite having the option of buying a Saros 10R at the time. I'm probably good for another 5-7 yrs. For me to buy sooner, it would have to be a life changing feature set that actually works.
r/Roborock • Suction power is not everything (Qrevo Curv VS S8 MAXv Ultra) ->My Neato D7 from 2017/18 just died last month. Hopefully my new one makes it more than a year or two.
r/RobotVacuums • Is it normal for a robot vacuum to have such a short lifespan? ->Software. Neato doesn’t exist anymore and whoever bought them doesn’t know what they are doing. I couldn’t get it to connect to WiFi any more, and even when I started it manually, it kept spazing out about 10-20 mins into a clean, and then just stopped. All the hardware is fine, which is sad.
r/RobotVacuums • Is it normal for a robot vacuum to have such a short lifespan? ->Detangling my old Neato D7 was a weekly chore. But with my Roborock Qrevo Curv, not a single hair has wrapped around either brush for the entire month I’ve had it.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum for long hair? ->It struggles to clean under the bath/shower mat (the dirtiest part of the house it cleans) and it won’t go under the toilets even though it has the clearance. But those are minor quibbles and I’m looking for something to complain about. Complete night and day difference from the old Neato, which needed constant babysitting. Only thing I’ve had to do it refill/dump the water tanks and it just today asked me to wipe down the sensors. That’s pretty great for a month of 3x a week cleaning in a house with a dog and wife that sheds more than the dog.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum for long hair? ->My Neato D7 was becoming more and more.. senile shall we say. Getting confused/lost - I'd replaced the lidar sensor on it once already and cleaned it thoroughly but it just doesn't seem to be that reliable any more. With the company gone bust It's not worth repairing any more. I've literally just bought the Eufy Omni S7 Pro (on eBay as they're half price!) and it's excellent - quite literally turned up today. Really impressed with it.
r/RobotVacuums • What robot vacuum is everybody looking to buy Black Friday/Cyber Monday? ->The omni is excellent at mopping and cleaning, good edge clean and obstacle detection. It’s very quiet too. The Q5 is good on carpet, much cheaper but needed it for upstairs where there’s mostly carpet. The apps good on both too. I came from a 7 year old Neato D7 that had gone senile so a bit of a jump!
r/RobotVacuums • I analyzed the 25 most recommended robot vacuums on Reddit ->I got my Saros 10R yesterday around this time (purchased it myself). I'm upgrading from a S7 Max V. Had a Neato D7 before that and a Robock S5 Max and very briefly a Dreame X40 that broke. [https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png](https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png) **Few things before I go into it:** I live in a relatively small home. My first floor is mostly hardwood/tile with a 15x20' area rug in the living room. My second floor is all deep carpet. I have a long haired German Shepherd and a wife that both shed a fair amount of longish hair. I keep my rooms mostly tity but my computer does have a fair amount of cables/wires that are wrapped together, but run along the floor. My wife also has a Korg keyboard that has a foot pedal and she often leaves it on the ground. **Super Pros:** * General hardwood/tile mopping significantly better than the S7 Max V. My wife and I both noticed it immediately after the first clean I ran. It covered more areas, got closer to objects (the pivoting side mop helps a lot with that) it reached under my cabinets and it was able to get under two pieces of furniture the S7Max couldn't fit under. * Low Pile Rug performance is much better. I do wish I could set it to 2x crisscross every time on the area rugs.. but the mixed pattern will have to do. * It's way, way, way quieter. General runs are quieter. Max+ mode (or w/e its called) is way quieter. Mopping is now nearly silent. The transfer from robot to base is much quieter than the S7 MaxV. * The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. * The feature set is more rich over the S7 Max. This one is a think a bit annoying because I feel like a some of these features the S7 could do, its just software locked.. but having the ability to do pet area deep cleaning, mixed pattern cleaning, the rug options + all the leave behind the mops, extensions, re-mopping, etc is all really cool. * The detergent dispenser is a nice addition over the S7 MaxV. * The ability to clean out the tray and the self cleaning stuff is super nice. **Kind of Pros but maybe a little not:** * Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. * I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. The Saros 10R filled about a quarter of it's bin - but no tangles! The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. Neato is still king of deep carpet cleanup (if you ignore how jammed full of hair it gets) * I think the takeaway here is that the Saros 10R is big improvement but I find Roborock still lacks with hair pickup on deep carpets - even area rugs, to an extent.. over much older vacuums. * Pivoting Side Brush is good.. sometimes? When it works, it obviously works and pulls stuff out of corners, I don't find it working that often though - especially under the cabinets/corner cabinets. It comes outsometimes for a bit then goes away. (this is with the AI Lab Flexi arm thing enabled). * Navigation seems similar/better. In terms of actually going around and finding how to get there, it seems quicker (i haven't timed it) and it does less random movements like my S7 Max V did both during and after its cleaned. **Cons:** * The obstacle avoidance seems worse, maybe even way worse? I know it's only been 24 hours and I know the system the 10R specifically uses is new, but so far it's been pretty bad at detecting things, especially cables. * Yesterday when I was messing around with it, it ran into one of my dogs stuffed toys and got stuck on it. It also decided to "jump" little tray tables I have under my sofa, and got stuck on a wire behind them. (I set this as a no-go from now on). * This morning was the first time I ran it on a schedule - I do it early before I wake up, but I woke up to it stuck on the cable for my Wife's keyboard, the mop got wrapped in the cable and it pulled it off. * Just an hour or so ago today, when I was testing the carpet pickup on the second floor, it ran into a sock under my nightstand and got jammed. * Kind of disappointing considering my S7 Max V maybe got stuck twice, in the entirety of 2 years I owned it. I'm chalking this up to a combination of bad luck, weirdness because it's trying to hop stuff the others wouldn't attempt, and relatively new firmware on a new type of obstacle avoidance system. I hope it will improve. * All the Bins are too damn small. * My dog blows his coat twice per year. When that happens my S7 Max V can sometimes get nearly filled with dog hair. I've had to split rooms up into subrooms in order to force it to go back to the dock more often to empty. In this case - the Saros 10R not only has a smaller bin, but it's better at cleaning hair. I can see this being a problem. * It seems to use more water than my S7 MaxV while mopping, yet the clean and dirty bin are both smaller. Which means more refills. * The gloss on the front of the dock is a fingerprint magnet. I hate it. **Conclusion:** Overall, again after only 24 hours, I think its' a pretty nice upgrade over the S7 MaxV and I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping software improves the obstacle avoidance, which is my biggest concern at the moment. I also hope Roborock continues to improve it's suction/hair pickup performance - i really hope youtubers also create better tests for this. A lot of these guys say these newer robots are "perfect" at it and it's just not been my experience at all. They are getting better - in fact tangles seem solved, which is great, but they also leave a ton of hair behind.. even when compared to older robot vacuums but especially compared to a Dyson or something. **If anyone has any questions or wants anything specifically answered let me know ill do my best to respond.**
r/Roborock • Saros 10R 24 Hour Review ->Have a Q7 for one year now, and I love the app and navigation... but the self-cleaning performance is not great and the general pickup is not on par with my old Neato D6/D7. Roborock has great technical features, but the mechanical aspects are not great. Namely, roller device/bin drops dirt if vacuum picked up incorrectly, having to get the roller tray 'just right' to make it self clean and vacuum properly. Cleanup capability is not the best and it does leave behind 'crumbs' where legacy Neato vacuum would not.
r/Roborock • Roborock Q Revo Master Review - Vacuum Wars ->Currently on the hunt for a new robot vacuum after Neato D7 died after 6 years of faithful service. The D7 was champion on carpets with out of the world suction. For the next vacuum wife said to pick one that has mopping and a base station that automates most tasks. With that on mind, we narrowed our search to Roborock and Mova. We had considered Ecovacs top of the line model but was put off by the reliability ratings from users. What we prioritize most is, hardfloor vacuuming and mopping skills and the best automation possible with dock. Secondly, the app performance for responsiveness and granular controls. Don't really care about the robot vacuum needing to scale Mount Everest like obstacles (seriously why though...?) or voice assistants. With this in mind which of the two robot vacuums would you recommend? Roborock QRevo CurvX or Mova V50 Ultra - both are similarly, but Roborock is the slightly more expensive accounting for discounts as we. Would've like the Mova Z50 Ultra if it releases in North America but alas the choices are these
r/RobotVacuums • If you had to choose between the Roborock QRevo CurvX & Mova V50 ultra, which would be your pick and why? ->I recently got a shark nevertouch combo robot from Costco and it’s amazing! I first tried a roborock and iRobot j9. The shark is better and I researched and watched videos on more expensive ones and it gets my floors so clean I think it’s the best but right now. The roborock was horrible on carpet. My first was a neato d7. It vacuums really well. New one had to at least come close!
r/RobotVacuums • Best affordable sweeping and mopping robot? ->Get a used bot, something like Neato D7 goes for under 100$.
r/RobotVacuums • Which Vacuum is best for under 100? ->I am using the X40 for 6 months and It is amazing. So much better than my previous Neato D7.
r/Dreame_Tech • Time to find a Better robot ->Yep. I’ve had no issues with the Neato robot longevity. They outlasted the company. Botvac connected was still going strong except for battery and knackered side brush at 5 years (daily use). Replaced with a D7 when on offer and that’s still going strong 5 years on (battery still fine), except for the side brush dying again after year 2. Bought a D8 on offer for <€200 about the time Neato was folding for another area of the home, and that’s still going strong. Have just ordered a Eufy S1 Pro after seeing the first convincing mopping, so I’m hoping it can match the Neato longevity (but with working side brushes).
r/RobotVacuums • Is it normal for a robot vacuum to have such a short lifespan? ->What is the solution? * I have shoulder length hair and I can't bear to pull any hairs out of the vacuum brush - need anti-tangle that really works * Maintenance free(ish) - must have a vacuum bag or bin solution that I only empty once in a blue moon * Set it and forget it scheduling - ie, I can leave that power cable partially across the floor and the vacuum won't eat it * Don't care about mopping * Reliable brand I have an old Neato D7 which still works, but because of the hair issue, I end up getting out my big vacuum and sucking up all the hairs before I send the 'bot out cleaning. I also have to do a pre floor tidy, including unplugging that cable which runs from the sofa otherwise the 'bot eats it. Plus, it's a horrible, frequent job to empty out the dust bin. So I don't use it often enough and need a better solution. I've looked at lots and lots of models and I've almost decided on several, yet there's always some issue. I saw a review of the Eufy X10 Pro Omini where the guy said, "the anti-tangle works really well," as he pulled a bunch of hairs off the brush - so that's a "no". It seems the cheaper models don't have the great de-tangle or bin solutions. So I could pay around the £1,000 mark, but not £1,500. If a cheaper model fitted the bill, I'd be all for it. I'm the UK. Would prefer for it not to be a big, ugly black thing.
r/RobotVacuums • I need a vacuum with supreme de-tangle ->My neato D7 has been working great for almost 10 years. I upgraded to a roborock, but the D7 is still happily cleaning the garage.
r/RobotVacuums • robot vacs you've used for YEARS ->Currently have the Roborock Qrevo Master on the main level. Vacuum and mop, with auto-empty for both the dust bin and the mop water. Have to refill the water about every week, week and a half, dust bag replaced about every month. Basement, we've got a Neato Botvac D3 (which is currently out of service, wating for me to pull a drive wheel out of the D7 that had been running upstairs until IT broke down two months ago). They do a good enough job that we break out the upright vac maybe every 4-6 weeks, and mop the kitchen once a month.
r/labrador • I vacuumed yesterday and here I am vacuuming today 🥴 ->Honestly, the Neato D7 scared the crap outta my boy. The RoboRock, despite having a stronger vacuum, is MUCH quieter, and doesn't seem to bother him at all.
r/labrador • I vacuumed yesterday and here I am vacuuming today 🥴 ->Just to add to your excellent analysis, we had matted carpeting under a standing desk even though we vacuumed regularly with a powerful central vacuum with an electric powered head. After a few months of running a Neato robotic vacuum 5 days per week, the carpet was no longer matted.
r/RobotVacuums • Can robot vacuum truly deep clean your home? ->We had a matted area in carpet where we used a standing desk even though we vacuumed with a strong central vac that has a powered carpet head. A few months after using a Neato 5 times per week the area was no longer matted. So robotic vacuums can actually do a heck of a job.
r/RobotVacuums • Wirecutter says don't get a robot vacuum-mop combo. Do you agree? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
