Roborock - 7S

Totally fine!  7S was the first for me 2 years ago and it made my life so much better. It's the best purchase I've done in my book.  Make sure to check where you can buy spare parts, new filters, etc. You'll need some in a while! 

I have a S7 with empty dock. The auto empty is worth it unless you don't mind emptying the very small dustbin every day. Kind of negated the automated setup for me prior to getting the emptier. I will add a warning to not use the integrated mop feature. Go Google cliff sensors errors on roborock ( and other brands ) Is a common issue. After prolonged usage the sensors get damaged by moisture and then robot stops working. I had 2 models last about 1 year, both ended up on same issue. Sure, just replace the sensors. You have to be confident to pull the unit apart. Is a big job. I have now tried 3 different sets of sensors, all noted for my model, and still having same issue. I will buy a mop separate going forward. Stay away from ecovacs brand. Shit support. Units keep going offline. Just go Google ecovacs security and the camera usage. My 2c. Still waiting in set 3 of sensors. Last try.....then in the bin.

I can tell you what not to buy. Ecovacs. I can then also tell you that my roborock s7 is solid. That's all I can give.

I also have the s7 and I would say the q revo looks and Sounds Better.

The axel shaft snaps out and snaps into the swivel assy. I use a flat screwdriver with gentle pressure to snap it out and finger pressure to snap it together again.

Hi everyone, I have a Roborock S7, and even though I clean it regularly, it often looks like the photos I’ve attached after just one(!) or two cleaning runs. Long hair, in particular, seems to be a huge issue – it constantly wraps around the main brush and even the small front wheel. I don’t have an auto-empty dock, so I clean the robot entirely by hand. At this point, I feel like I’m putting more effort into maintaining the robot than I would if I just vacuumed manually. I’ve tried everything: cleaning it more frequently, taking precautions like removing hair beforehand, but nothing seems to help. I wouldn't say that my flat is dirtier than average. Has anyone had similar experiences? Do you have any tips to fix this issue, or should I just start looking for an alternative? I’m seriously questioning if the robot is still worth it, considering how much time I spend cleaning it. Looking forward to your thoughts and advice!

I would say when I bought the robot three years ago, it was never as bad as it is now. (Although I haven’t changed anything)

I have a Roborock S7 and I've easily got parts from AliExpress i.e. Filters, side brush, mop pads, water tanks, and I'm confident I could get parts like wheels if I needed to do actual repairs. I haven't needed to get parts regularly in the 3.5 years I've had it, just the one off or to have a spare ready for replacement

Roborock S7 and Ecovacs T8, these two models are mentioned most when it comes to solid performance. They nailed the core mopping and vacuuming functions without complex features

Get a Roborock, I recommended mine (S7 or S8) to my friend with 3 dogs and 1 cat and it keeps their floors so nice. It (no exaggeration) saved her sanity. It’s pricey, but it actually works and works well. You have to keep the base station maintained but it’s so simple to clean.

Currently using a Dyson animal 3, and a roborock qx Revo. And an s7 down stairs. Those battery stick ones from Amazon crapped out too fast.

I had a few different ones, all crap. Then I tried the roborock S7. I don't have a dock and honestly it's enough. I anyway like to keep the mop clean. Ordered a bunch of mops and stuff from AliE. Works great. Saves a few hours a week.

I LOVE MY S7. Things been daily vacuuming my room for 4 years with minimal maintenance. Mopping twice a week. I have 3 parrots so the floor ALWAYS has something on it. Bird poo, food, small chunks of wood, doesn't matter robots got it covered. I've abused the hell out of the poor thing lol

Well bird digestive systems are a bit different from a dogs. They move food through their gut so fast it doesn't have time to ferment or develop a smell unless they are sick. The vac/mop robot has detachable mopping pads that can be machine washed though. I don't know how well it works with dog urine but they generally look brand new after a wash. The pads do wear out over time but most of mine have lasted all 4 years I've had them.

Yeah a lot of ppl on the internet just push spending 2 grand for a robot without much thought or ROI smarts. Btw I bought the roborock S7 with the cyclops self empty base for $250 ish , it was over a grand new . When I got it I cleaned it real good , opened it all the way , I replaced all the filters , etc, had a lot of fun refurbishing it myself and getting to know it , and saved some CASH

I purchased a Roborock S7 and the family liked it so much that I bought a S7 MaxV the following Black Friday. I have both running on different floors of the house. We’ve owned them for a few years now, and if they died tomorrow, I’d go out and buy whatever their top-of-the-line model is. As others have suggested, get the dock. It makes things so simple. I had a Roborock HA widget at some point, but I found it unnecessary so uninstalled it. I just use the Roborock iOS app. Once you map your house and setup a schedule, there’s not much else to do. FWIW I wasn’t familiar with the Roborock brand prior to all this. I watched this YouTube channel (Vacuum Wars?) that put a bunch of vacuums head-to-head through various challenges to see which ones performed best, and this seemed like a strong performer at that time. Coming from the S7, I’m genuinely impressed how fast and how far the vacuum and mopping robots have improved over such a short time. For me the best perk is that I no longer need to interact with the robot ( topping up water tank and frequent manual mop cloth change). I understand that the Z70 is essentially the 10R with an added arm. The robot mostly recognises fabric such as towel and socks as object it could pick up and put into the designated storage bin. It did false identify the piano legs as a fabric today. Not sure why. Since the identification is not 100%, the robot does not automatically pick the objects up during cleaning but pins the item in the map and allow you to send the robot to pick up the object and place it into the storage bin. Still learning how to use it. If anyone has useful tips, please share

Yea I had the basic S7 and a charging dock. Auto cleaning, binning, and water top up docks wasn’t a thing then. As I mentioned, one of the pain points I had with the S7 was the need to regularly maintains the robot; clear bin, top up water tank, clean and change mop cloth, clear hair stuck on rollers and brush. The latest models Z70/10R with dock eliminates all these now (I hope it does!)

I don't have any carpet, so that isn't an issue. But my floor is uneven and the vibrarise module already broke twice, once a year and something. I don't think that I will replace it this time, but I'm still thinking about it. It's a difficult repair and already there's some rust on the motherboard. So I'm not sure if it's worth fixing it or ordering another one. For now, I ordered the same one (2nd hand) and each one will run just once a day. I'm wondering how long they will last...

Roborock S7. it arrived with a defective vibrarise, that roborock said that I had to chip it to china to be replaced. It would be very expensive and at the time, I fixed the vibrarise by myself. it wasn't that hard to fix, the bot was just poorly assembled or something happened in transit. After that fix, it lasted for 1 year, then the problem started again. When it happened, I already had a brand new vibrarise module and replaced it. The old one just had some rust, nothing more visible. The lidar module is another part that I already replaced. But this one, just once in 2 and a half years. Probably it could be working, but I lost patience with it, because that one had to be cleaned every single week or it would have problems with ghosts. The new one already was cleaned, but just once. Seems that they changed a bit the lidar module and it's more difficult for hair to be entangled in the engine, but is not impossible. Or is that or it's because now I only have 3 cats (I had 7 when it arrived).

Yes, they have or at least had (it happened about 2 and a half years ago) for global purchases. Basically, anyone can ask or could ask for help there. I can find replacement parts here, but a lot of those are fake ones that are dumped here from various resellers with very weird names. So, when I need a replacement part, I order it from China. it's difficult to find original parts in there and it becomes even worse as the bot ages. After some time, it's nearly impossible. I already have a lot of spare parts (that was the reason why I ordered a 2nd hand one), so I know that I will be good for at least another year. After that, one of the bots will become the donor. Honestly, it's a pain order bots in here. Even YouTubers us to advertise the ones that are completely blind and do their job bumping on everything or some white brand that someone tagged their brand on it as if they are good bots. These days, it's very easy to find Xiaomi X10, x20 and something like that, but roborock, forget, it's impossible. And both brands are the same one, except that one is intended to be cheaper.

Your mop options are severely limited under $200. I'd focus on just buying a vacuum and manually mopping. The mopping function is really only good on the newer vacuums which are still very expensive relative to your budget. I'd recommend Roborock (great integration and products). You'll get solid vacuum performance (look at used options, S5, S6) and the S6 can do a "drag" mop. The S7 vibrates a bit, but with animals I'd manually mop.

I have a Roborock S7 and manually empty the dust bin and change the mop pad before each run. It’s super easy and pretty satisfying to see all the stuff that got picked up. Mop pads get tossed into laundry with shop towels and cleaning rags. I bought a pack of spare mop pads off Amazon a few years ago and they were cheap and have held up well. As for the mapping, I moved things like chairs, plant stands and other small things off the floor for the initial pass so it could get a better idea of the layout. I left big things like tables, bookcases and heavy furniture that I’ll never move. When I run the robot sometimes I move the smaller things, sometimes I don’t. It’s smart enough to know when something is in the way and just works around it. The next time if that thing isn’t there it just cleans as normal.

Honestly, roborocks before they started this new lineup. S7, S7 MaxV, S8 (lost to cat poop disaster) Those things can seriously vaccum and never experienced any bugs. Unfortunately, my home is 90% carpet so I’m looking for an alternative brand now that the newer models are less capable

We hade several different models in the repair shop and the suction motors are basically always the same. The claim from roborock that the suction from the s5 to the newer models has more then quadrupled is pure bs. I would go with the s7 if they would still sell it.

I have a Saros 10r and two long hair cats, and all the other hairy things. I have been very impressed with it compared to my previous models, the s7 and s8.

Very very impressive. Do you know what the S8s have that the S7s don't? I'm a big fan of the S7 for mopping. I have a ton of them I've purchased defective with mostly minor issues, but maybe I will try looking for defective S8.

I have the Roborock S7 I got on sale for Amazon Black Friday (believe $380?) and I love it. It includes a water mop pad which maybe not cleans super well but removes all footprints on our wood floors which looks like. I bought it in 2023 and still going as brand new. I do replace parts like the brushes and filters when the app tells me it’s due for replacement; although I double the time as I think the parts are fine. Have about 550hr+ runtime and working like a charm. When we update our basement I’ll move this one down there and replace with a new one. Roborock sells some with auto dust unloading and auto mopping which imo is a lot more money. I’m happy with manually emptying since it’s good to inspect the robot every so often and get any hair out of the brushes.

Jumped from S7 to Qrevo Edge and it's great! We have girls at home and that long hair got stuck on the S7 all the time. I haven't been needing to remove any hair from the Edge.

Roborock are the best bang for buck. Cheaper than some other big name brands- around $600 for the S7 or S8 models on Ali. But they actually work well and have good features. Some cheaper robovacs don't have room mapping so they just bounce around wall to wall and with enough bounces they would have hopefully got most of the floor. With room mapping, it will systematically clean your room and actually get the whole area. Also can do things like come home to recharge/empty bin and then continue where it left off.

I agree. I have hair just above the shoulders and it would get very stuck on my roborock s7. Ive recently upgraded to Mova p50 pro ultra and after running it for a week I see no hair on the brush and a lot is getting in the bag in the basestation.

I always think about the S8, but my S7 is rocking pretty good. I have a lot of deep carpet and cat litter, so it works hard.

S7 / S8 Ultra docks have an extra complex mop washer which is not needed in a Qrevo. It tends to get messy in the dock tray and the thing is hard to clean because it's not removable. Furthermore it makes the docks expensive and thus less economical. If you can't stand your appliance being covered with residue, don't buy. The revo tech needs less maintenance.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I also have the S7 and felt it was time for a change. I first tried the L40s, but I just couldn’t get past the battery life and duration. Then I moved on to the Curv, hoping it would be an improvement, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations either. This week, I’m planning to give the 3i and Mova V50 a try. If they end up being similar to my previous experiences, I might just go back to my trusty S7. It seems like robot vacuums are still figuring out the right balance between AI integration and effective mopping techniques.

Another vote for Roborock. We got an S7 with the auto empty dock 3 yrs ago. Still going strong, mopping and vacuuming daily. Bought sets of replaceable accessories in bulk from AliExpress 2 yrs ago, including mops, filters and both the brushes. You can get upto 4 sets for the price of one compared to getting them locally.

I let it run but I don’t have pets or kids so the worst thing that happens is it grabs a sock or cord and gets stuck.

It works for me for now. I’ll upgrade when it stops working. I did add the self emptying dock once it was available and the sensors get it around my house without a camera.

It still lasts the whole run without an issue and then goes back to the dock to charge. I don’t have a huge house. If it gets stuck somewhere, it will usually die before the end of the day but I just carry it back to the dock. The only issue I have had is once in a while it gets really confused and can’t position itself properly on the map and it’ll get stuck. I had it get stuck under my bed but the map was showing it somewhere else so it was hard to find.

Yes, but it’s only happened once or twice and I wonder if it had gotten kinda caught on a throw rug and turned around first.

Def not Roborock. We bought a S7 and it broke down just a little over a year. Sent it into to get repaired and had to pay to some weird PayPal account. And it was packaged very poorly when shipped back. Then it broke down again after a couple of months and we gave up on it.

Hey, I bought it refurbished thru amazon.es for 400eur, you can send it back no questions asked (whitin a couple days from purchase). I found it out after my 2yo roborock s7 ingested water and broke, I got full refund before they even recieved the item back. But I do recommend you stick to roborock official seller on amazon. If you're going this route I'd wait until February for all the returns from christmas

Please dont buy an roomba maybe an refurbished roborock they also haf great quality and longeity. Maybe an s7 ore the q8 q7 q5

Having two dogs I would go on record saying that the S7 does a less worse job than the S8 on short pile carpets. But still to get it somewhat okayish clean, I use a normal vacuum twice a week

As an S7 and S8 owner I fully agree. But what is important to keep in mind is thatbthe robot does not mean you stop cleaning yourself, you just do it less often. For general day to day maintenance robota do a fantastic job but they do not replace your normal mob or vacuum

Well, look at your hand, their paws are nearly as big as that. So if it is rainy/muddy outside, they carry a lot of dirt into the house. Theoretically we could stop them at the door and clean their paws but even then they will retain dirt on them and carry it inside. Specially also with their longer fur all over the body that you can not really clean/dry properly outside. So if you want your floors to be somewhat halfway clean, you need to mop them daily (at least once). So yes, for us, the mopping robot makes a lot of sense and is a real help. Regarding the Bernese breed, I feel it is important to keep in mind that the breed was created to be a guard dog for farms. So they need training and clear guidelines. One of their downsides is also that they tend to not live very long. If you put in the time to train them, they are amazing dogs. If people get fooled into seeing a big, lazy cuddly dog, that tends to be when they are negativly surprised. A breed that easily comes in at around 50 to 60 kg requires some work put into their training, otherwise the dog will walk you.

My robots are too old to have cameras onboard. But I am also not really missing that specific feature. Also for me obstacle avoidance has reached its peak one or two years ago in terms of actual usefullness

I moved away from iRobot into a Roborock S7. In my opinion the 980 was peak Roomba but these newer models are just junky. The Roborock S7 is solid. It seems to pick up just as well as the 980 but with the added benefit of mopping. I've got app experience with iRobot, Neato and Roborock. The Roborock app works quite well and I find it easy to set up no go zones. It does a good job reminding me when it's time to replace the brush or clean the sensors. It's also nice that Roborock has an online store with plenty of OEM replacement parts if they are needed.

Roborock s4. I've had two since covid. They clean weekly. No issues. I've also had a s7 mopping for about 3 years. No issues as well.

I only had a single problem with my Roborock S7. A pipe burst while we are away and the poor thing tried to vacuum a inch of water. I replaced the vacuum module and it is working flawlessly 1 and a half years after the incident. The fix was 12 dollars and 2 hours of my time.

I like my Roborock s7 more than any iRobot I have owned.

So, I've tried both the Roborock S7 and Ecovacs models for taming my furry kingdom. The Roborock S7 is a beast with pet hair and even mops like a ninja. Seriously, it dodges toys and shoes like they’re hot lava. I had a jolly good experience with that one when my ol' Ecovacs decided to become a chair magnet. But I got a friend who swears by their new Ecovacs Deebot X1, even says it sings when it dodges socks. ConsumerRating actually has a sweet comparison thingy that breaks down what's buzzy fluff vs what's solid. Honestly helped me dodge some real duds.

Recently got my wife a roborock s7 from eBay. They have a refurbished guarantee for 2 years so I figure the discount is worth it. Wow I am so happy with it. Just does it's job, doesn't suck up anything it shouldn't and has the added benefit of me keeping the house picked up after my infant gets all their toys out.

I have had a Roborock S7 for the last 2 years and before that I had a Samsung for like 3 years (no emptying dock station). Both purchased as clearance items after either Black Friday deals or Christmas left overs at larger retailers box stores. I have 3 large dogs - hardwood floor, minimal door mats, and tile in bathrooms only. I love love love having them!!!! They have helped me so much! In areas that my dogs are in the most, I split the room themselves into 2 sections in the map. That way it goes back to empty itself and does not overwhelm the vacuum. I still have to bust out my shark vacuum to go under furniture that it does not fit under. I haven’t even tried the moping feature yet!! Ugh— not sure why but gotta get on it.

The narwal freo z ultra and freo x ultra both have anti tangle brushes. In my 1+ months of using both of them, no hairs has ever got stuck in the brush or the axle. My wife has super long hair which always annoys me - gets stuck on the regular vacuums brush and the roborock s7 (axles, not on the rollers). But with the narwal, I never had to clean them once. Narwal does a pretty good job of vacuuming and mopping but the app isn't mature and the same goes for the robots themselves. They have some quirks - the mapping/ map updating kinda sucks sometimes and both the robots I had to re-map the house at least 2-3 times. Also, splitting rooms or modifications to the map also has some quirks that annoy me so much. I also had some concerns on privacy so I returned the freo z, still have the freo x, will use it for a bit and decide. The only thing holding me from returning the narwals was/is the anti tangle brush.

Small wheel is removable. Just pull from one side of the wheel and it will come out easily.

I have all hardwood and use two devices. The Roborock is an excellent vacuum and I like their ap the best. I have an older S7 but it still powers through my 3 dog house. And a narwhal which does a 80% good job at mopping. Together my house stays pretty clean ;)

I feel like this is accurate for me as well but maybe its a lifestyle choice. I use mine mostly while home so I can pick up tag toys ect before it goes. I usually clean it out before use and remove any hair ect from the roller dumping the dust bin. I have an older S7 with a self empty doc that I dont really use. Next time i think Ill look for a quieter machine. That is my family's biggest complaint.

I've used roborock and it has been extremely solid, I had the s5, and I still use it in my garage, it's been going for 7 years or so. Now I've got the s7 and it just works, needs very little maintenance. Had it for 3-ish years now.

Second the roborock! I’ve had mine (S7) for about a year now and two shedding dogs, and it’s seriously a lifesaver. The occasional clog is real, but honestly it’s so easy to just pop the roller out and clear it when it does happen. Way better than dragging out my big vacuum every other day. 

I agree with luikiedook but am nervous of Dreame hardware reliability. Roborock is my favorite brand but I recently picked up a Eufy S1 Pro. It has been amazing. I have a Berner and a Husky but haven’t had any tangles in the short time I’ve owned it. My Roborock S7 has lasted for years, is still going and feel their flagships will still do the same. I know OP doesn’t have much carpet but for those that see this: I recommend Duo-divide for hard floor and duo-roller for carpet. Interesting fact, Roomba pulls more hair out of the carpet in one pass. Doesn’t matter because it’s also left on top of the carpet.

I have the same model and can agree it is awesome. The only downsides: - Once a two months or so it gets crazy and the map vs reality is offset by half a meter or even more. Roborock gets completely lost, avoiding empty space as it thinks it's a wall and hitting to walls thinking this is the path to the next room. Restoring the map from backup solves the problem. - Once I restore the map from backup, all routines are unusable - they do not work and must be deleted and redone. - It does not automatically avoid the heating vents on the floor and gets stuck on it eventually. I have to use the "no go zones" in each room.

Auf eBay gibt es immer wieder refurbishede aus Polen welche echt top sind. Garantie ist mir dabei - geht um das Modell roborock s7. Da bekommt man die dann auch teilweise mit absaugstation für um die 300€. Habe dort mittlerweile den dritten gekauft ( also für mich, Mutti und Schwiegermutter und nicht weil die alle in Arsch gegangen sind ;) )

Vaccum robots are a must have if you have ever had one, you will never want to be without one again, especially if you have pets and fur and dust collects rather quick. They clean really good, you will be surprised and they easily reach places which would be hard to get to with a normal vacuum like under the bed or sofa. Even after months and years of only letting the robot do the work, I can‘t really spot alot, I would want to clean by hand except some really hard dried stains in the kitchen. Maintenance is very low, I have had my S7 for years and the only thing I do is empty the bin of the dock every other week, get long hair tangles off of the brush, wash the filter and swipe the sensors every month or so. Didn‘t have to replace anything yet. For newer models like my 10R I have to fill and empty the water tanks every other week and empty the dust bag probably every ~3 months i expect. It has a different brush design so there are no more tangles on them. In terms of obstacles, that‘s pretty much the main reason why I added the 10R to my other floor where my cat and his toys are, it has great obstacle avoidance.

I am living the same nightmare! And each time I start tending towards a vacuum not from roborock, I remember this is nearly impossible to find any spare parts for non roborock models. With roborock vacuums it is not that easy either but I recently found (easily) an original replacement fan for my roborock S7. Unfortunately I broke something else just before finishing my repair, hence the research... I am currently considering the Qrevo Edge the most because it seems to be good enough at obstacle avoidance and obviously way better then my S7 in that regards considering it has no obstacle avoidance whatsoever. But it seems that I might have a better quality/price ratio with models from other brands (with poorer spare parts availability). Does anybody have any input on spare parts availability for all those brands? (I am based in the EU) If my S7 needed a fan replacement after 4 years, I would be reassured knowing a 800-1000 vacuum could be repairable 4 or 5 years from now.

It looses internet connection often so the app can’t connect. It sometimes forgets a scheduled cleaning. My dog had an accident once and the vacuum did the unspeakable. The vacuum power is just average and the dust bin gets filled quickly. This is for a 900 sqft area and I need one for a 2200 sqft area with carpet/hardwood,sliding glass door ledge to a sun room, dog hair, wife hair, and a toddler. The 3i S10 ultra seems to hit all the marks for the best bang for your buck of the list.

I love the tricut brush. With my old S7 I had massive problems with my wife's hair. It was cutting in the brush constantly, it actually damaged it and I had to untangle it all the time. With the new brush I just have to clean the side from time to time but very rarely.

Used to have iRobot/Roomba. But after looking at a bunch of videos from the vacuum wars YouTube channel (extensive testing of all the brands), I went with Roborock. I’ve had the S7 for 2 years, and the S4 I gave to my MIL after upgrading (hers still works perfectly). It’s a fantastic machine! Mopping function is decent but not fully replacing manual mopping, just reduces how often I need to do it. Black Friday is coming up, so I’m sure there will be good deals.

I’m happy with the S7. The docking station of the newer models is a little too large, and adding that level of complexity raises concerns for me. Happy to see what happens in 5 years, as by then there might be some big improvements that are worth the upgrade. The S7 is the best model roborock has made as far as vacuuming performance goes.

The roborock S7 has objectively the best performance while keeping some autonomy (dock station, etc). Newer units have more bells and whistles but are worse at vacuuming (better at mopping, generally). The s7 is fairly 'old' by now, but you can see the raw benchmarks of new vacuums to realize that... yes, new units are slightly more hands-free but are worse at cleaning. The Dyson Vis Nav is a good choice if: \- You find it on sale (799 - 899). \- Your house is relatively clean (not a lot of objects and all that). \- You value raw vacuuming performance above everything else (it's the only vacuum that has about the same performance of a handheld device). No dock station, but you can avoid emptying the dust container for several weeks since dust gets fairly compacted. Regarding puke, new units have cameras and advertise fancy AI, but whether the robot detects the mess is a gamble, you might be lucky once and have the robot miss the second time. The only vendor that used to have (still has, maybe?) some protection against this was irobot and iirc they only covered poop messes, so puke/pee was not covered by their warranty.

Understood, I was in a similar situation (in my case, it was a family member with OCD, vacuuming more than 7 times a day. Given the decorative objects, the vis nav is likely not a good fit. I'd say the roborock s7 is the best solution if your mom is constantly cleaning, especially if she owns a dyson with laser. New robot units will make the floor look clean to the naked eye, however, not a single one will clean traces of fine dust that lasers highlight (or that you'd notice walking bare foot). I have tested many of the new models and I keep going back to either the vis nav or the S7, these two are the only ones that have decent vacuuming performance. There is one tiny exception to this rule, which is that new units while worse at vacuuming, make up for the performance loss with the upgraded mopping, so depending on your floor, you might not notice the degraded vacuuming performance if you run both mopping and vacuuming at the same time. As disappointing as it is, older robots are objectively better at vacuuming. They don't have all the fancy features but it is what it is. The roborock s7 is still a solid option

1) Haven’t had an issue with two (longhair) cats, cat litter, and long people hair. Very worth it to me rather than vacuuming daily and I’m still shocked at how much hair gets picked up. 2) Don’t run it when you aren’t home. I tend to pick up the house a bit before running my S7, since I’ve had more than one cat toy get sucked up.

No. I’ve been cooking while it runs (s7, so different model) and it avoids my feet decently well. It’s a bit noisy so it’s not like I’d trip over it (and I try not to run it later in the evenings) to not annoy my downstairs neighbor.

I have a different model than what you’re asking about, so I can’t answer that question. On my s7, it’s easier if I pick up all the cat toys and put them away, rather than having them get stuck, jamming the robot, and then having to go pull the toy out and resume.

Dude like I said I have a different model, so yeah I don’t have obstacle avoidance as a feature. Hence why I pick up before running the robot. It’s not that hard. And yes there’s an app that pairs with the robot vacuum. Have you tried Googling or looking at reviews of the models you’re interested in?

I agree mostly with your review, but you’re underselling its performance because you happen to own an S7, which was a decent vacuum. I’ve used or own most of this year’s flagships and not one comes anywhere close to the Dyson on carpet. It makes them look like a toy despite all its annoyances and frustrations.

Even waiting for the next iteration, we don't know if their new iteration is better or worse than the previous generation because Roborock's vacuuming quality today is not as good as the previous models. The S5 and S7 were better at vacuuming than the current flagship because they had a better vacuum head and air duct design. Again, whether you should buy a robot vacuum now or next year depends on your urgency. Do you really need it now? If yes, you can purchase it on Black Friday, but if not, you can wait for the new flagship coming next year. Usually, the older model will get discounted, and since many people already have it, it's easy to find help in case an issue arises.

Cat vomit is a problem. My S7 basically vacuums up the chunks and then mops the liquids. It runs overnight and does maximally frequent mop cleanings. Usually it’s not smearing stuff all over the place. The biggest issue for me is that the moist chunks gum up the vac tray in the dock and I have to clean it regularly. Sometimes the vac dents the house with cat vomit exhaust smells but windows are usually open and by the time we wake up it’s usually dissipated.

Hair does get wrapped up on the high speed brush over time, but it’s easy to clean and really easy to replace. I don’t have to clean it often. The cat hair gets collected by the vacuum roller really well so it never sees the mop.

I have a Roborock S7 for about 3 years and am pretty happy with it. I'm looking for a new bot with better mopping performance. The S7 doesn't mop that great... it's just dragging a wet rag. So I'm looking for something with superior mopping. Once the new unit will arrive, the S7 will live outside and just clean the balcony. That's the plan at least. (The balcony is covered by another balcony that's over it, so there's no issue with rain).

My 10R has been awesome so far. The S7 that it replaced now cleans the balcony.

Not a 100% convinced roborock user here... Have my S7 working but since years there´s one unsolved problem. I power off the robot if i don´t need it. When powering on again days later, the Home Assistant integration does not get it connected. Only a restart of HA pulls data again. Unfixed since years.

Because i don´t need it? What´s wrong with powering things off, when not needed for days?

Nevertheless, it´s an error in the integration, that it cannot put up the connection again when the robot is powered off without a restart of HA. So it is a bug.

Thanks for this, my S7 has been having trouble picking stuff up even after swapping the filters and brushes, and was considering replacing it. Didn't realize there was an internal one as well. I will give it a shot.

I've got a Roborock S7, so anyway my counter points * It does not have any features that require any more maintenance than lower models. Basically the trash container needs to be cleaned, mop cleaned, water filled. Basically what you'd expect from a vac/mop combo. Errors usually just involve cleaning a sensor. * It can map more than one floor, so your point is moot * I can just carry the robot up to the other floor and it works without a base * The run time is plenty, but I guess I don't have a huge house. It can return to the base and recharge, then begin cleaning again when it has enough charge to finish, so no big deal. * The house doesn't need to be clean but it does need small clutter picked up. I don't have a problem with that because I would have to pick up the clutter anyways, as part of maintaining a clean home * Noise levels.. its kinda loud sure, but thats how any vac is. Can solve it by not being home or on the same level when cleaning. It also adjusts suction so that its not as loud on hard floor, which is nice. * Emptying the trash takes 30 seconds, not a big deal since I only need to do it once every few weeks * There's no camera so its not uploading images of anything, I don't really care if a Chinese company knows the layout of my house anyway. * It doesn't require perfect furniture arrangement because it'll just go around things and adapt

We have a couple of rugs, my SO has long hair. And yeah our S7 looks the same. But the way I see it, the time It takes to remove hair and stuff is way less than vakuuming manually

No it doesn’t have the self cleaning station. I got it for $400 and came with all the spare parts. Cleaning for this model is very easy. We have long carpet and tiles and it’s been great.

At the time of Roborock S7, I hadn't heard much about ecovacs, dreametech and others that are up there now. Longevity, support, etc. considerations I went with S7. Now though it's a mess. There's really no right or wrong. They all do the same thing +/-. Even the most basic new comer has auto empty/dry story time etc. I'll tell you though. I had crappy roller mop that didn't do any "smart" things. I hated cleaning it. Not saying it's the best or anything but with Roborock F25 ACE and Dyson V15 I can do the whole cleanup full house in no time vs hours of cleaning of robot cleaner that I already have to do a pre-cleanup for all the toys we have around. If I leave them, they'll get chewed, tangled up.. it'll take robo 5x the amount of time to navigate around crap and by the time it cleans up some rooms it'll run out of battery. Sure, I still use it when things are tidy and it cuts down on my efforts but for quick clean up, standalone mop/vacuum is a must for me, that I discovered..

I have had an roborock s7 for years. I've been impressed with their app and the product overall. Getting a qrevo pro because I think they put out a good long lasting product. Haven't tried the pro yet though. Odds are you'll be happy with any of them.

Roborock with the fancy dock is where it’s at. My wife says it’s one of her favorite purchases of mine. I got the s7 nearly three years ago, it runs every day because pets, and we have to empty the base once a week. The big vacuum only comes out for quick spot cleans and the thicker rugs.

Probably one of the older models like the S7. The new ones have terrible suction

We have a Roborock with auto garbage collection / mopping (The S7, but there are newer models now). Quite nice. Highly reccomend. Also have one of the fancy switchbots (the S10) that automaticalls fills and empties itself directly from a water source... and highly do not reccomend. The navigation is worse than both the Roborock and a cheap knock off machine I bought years ago. And it leaks. Consistently. It sometimes even manages to flood things. Really really not ready for release.

We've had a roborock S7 for about 3 years give or take and it's still going strong albeit is beginning to fade. Only had to replace one part over that time for like $15. Needless to say it's exceeded my expectations. We use the regular roborock app so it's not integrated into HA for us.

I've had an S7 for four years and it's still going fine. The wifi protocol at this point is deprecated, and I haven't bothered to try to overcome that, but as mentioned below, I can just hit the clean button and off it goes. I have two shorthair cats that shed, shed, shed and shed and the S7 deals with it just fine. I only just had to buy a consumable parts pack last year.

I have the Saros 10 and a Golden Retriever. The previous S7 would tangle up but the Saros 10 does not. I really like the cleaning result and it makes relatively little noise.

I use, repair and maintain all sorts of robot vacuum cleaners from many different manufacturers. I have owned only Roborocks, including the S7 that we wore out completely, and our current lineup including a pair of basic S8s (charging dock only, no fancy features) and a Saros 10R. I am very familiar with robovacs! I am of the opinion that the S8 vacuums rugs and carpets much, much better than any other robovac in my experience. Hard floors and mopping are basic and relatively easy, and most robovacs do a decent job with them. Our home has a lot of foot traffic, pets and people with long hair. My basic test for how well a robovac vacuums is to have one vacuum our three carpeted bedrooms on its maximum suction setting. When it is done, I send in one of our S8s to cover the same area using its maximum suction setting. Whichever robovac goes first should pick up more dust, dirt and hair, right? Our S8s consistently come back with four to five times the amount of debris than any other robovac I have ever sent in first, including our fancy new Saros 10R. I have even sent in one S8 first, followed by the second one. The first one will bring back a full dustbin. The second one will be almost empty. There are many other similar situations that I have observed but do not test regularly, so I cannot really use them as any kind of fair comparison, but, observationally, the S8 seems to very consistently out perform any other robovac when it comes to cleaning rugs and carpets. Obviously, there are many other areas that are important when it comes to robovacs, such as navigation, mopping etc. I am not looking at these areas at the moment. As a vacuum cleaner only, our S8s out perform our Saros 10R so significantly and consistently, that I really only use our Saros 10R to vacuum under stuff that the S8s do not fit under. Otherwise, the Saros 10R is a mopping machine in our home. I have even consulted Roborock customer service extensively in order to find ways to improve its vacuuming ability without success. I am curious if anyone else has made any meaningful comparison between the S8s vacuuming abilility and any other robovacs. It is my gold standard for rugs and carpets right now, and nothing else has been able to come anywhere close it it. With how quickly our home gets dirty and full of hair, I run our robovacs daily through our entire house. Especially our S8s have very high milage on them. Has anyone seen any kind of robovac that out performs the S8s vacuuming ability in any kind of meaningful real-world test?

We had to retire our S7 due to excessive wear. That why I bought our first S8. Our robovacs get used a lot! Both of our current S8s have over 200,000 square feet (19,000 square meters) of history under their belts and are probably due for new batteries soon. The S7 is a workhorse and does very well. My daughter has one too and loves it. You would absolutely love an S8 for vacuuming rugs and carpets. It will pick up much more dust, dirt, hair, cat litter and other debris than the S7. There are fancier robovacs out there that do all sorts of amazing stuff, but I have yet to see one that out performs the S8 as a vacuum cleaner only. Even the Dreame X50, which has a very similar vacuuming module with much higher suction, does not do a better job. If you do decide to try an S8, I can only recommend the base model with charging dock only. The fancier versions with auto mop washing can be problematic as the mop washing system gets clogged with mud, and it is a pain in the neck to clean them at times. There are better robovac mopping systems available that are much easier to maintain than the ones on the fancier S8s. But one cannot beat them for vacuuming in my experience, although someone did talk about the Dyson 360 above. It may be a great option to explore.

Most fancy new robovacs with auto detangling rollers and insane pascal suction numbers cannot vacuum nearly as well as your S7. I think your S7 can even hold its own in terms of mopping ability with these fancy new models. The only thing one gets for a lot of money is convenience. But, if it can't vacuum well and mop reasonably well, I don't want it! The Saros 10R does perform better with navigation once the paranoid obstacle and pet avoidance settings are turned off. This fixes a lot of problems with them. However, this makes its navigation and obstacle avoidance abilities only a very small incremental improvement over lidar. I still prefer lidar. Why would one want to replace a trusty S7 without a good reason? It is an excellent machine! I am not trying to criticize, I am just curious. No matter how fancy and expensive a robovac is, it is still a very primitive machine made with very cheap plastic parts. It has barely enough computing power and memory to get the job done. Personally, I think people expect too much from them no matter how much they cost. I hope you find a replacement that meets your needs!

Wow! You are right! They are gone! I was just thinking of adding a third one to my collection just two days ago. That is really sad! Now it looks like Roborock doesn't make any model that lives up to my vacuuming standards. Sorry! If any S7s are still available this would be my next choice.

You can customize all of the stuff you are looking for with your S7 in the app akready. Create routines with custom settings for various areas in your house. It is quick and easy to do. Use these routines in your schedule. Ask Google for specific directions if you do not know how to create a routine. It will tell you. I hope this helps!

It is in the Roborock app for your S7'. Find Routine. It is in the same place you find Full, Rooms, Zone, and, if course, Routine for your cleaning settings. It is on the right and side just above the start button. You will be hard pressed to find a newer robovac that can vacuum better than what you already have. The S7s are excellent machines! While you are in there, make sure your robovac is updated to the latest firmware and you are using the latest version of the app. This is probably the best place to start before you look for anything else. Start with Settings and Firmware updates. Make sure you are on the latest version. Turn on auto updates. Then go to the Play Store and make sure your app is up to date.

I know the American version has this feature for the S7. If I change my language to German in the app, I still have the option for, "Programm." I use routines for everything. My app allows me to create up to ten routines. It is very rare for me to use any other options because everything I need to do has been set up as a routine. I can completely customize the cleaning of any room or collection of rooms. I can even create a routine to clean the same room more than once if I want to. None of the newer models with auto detangling rollers will vacuum as well as your S7! Good choice!!!

The S7 isn't great in the obstacle avoidance department, but it really isn't bad either. It's now extremely rare good vacuuming ability is worth a few tradeoffs to me. I have s Saros 10R with excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. However, it is a mediocre vacuum cleaner at best. Without good vacuuming ability, the rest is meaningless.

Let's start with the most important detail. Both the S7 and S8 have been discontinued. For the S8s, we are down to used-like-new from Amazon returns and refurbished ones from Roborock. There is a lot about the S7s and S8s that is very similar or almost identical. The main difference is the vacuuming system. The S7s use a single solid rubber roller, and the S8s use dual counter rotating solid rubber rollers. Otherwise, they are basically the same although the S8s do have some slight improvements. Generally, these are a bit meaningless. The dual counter rotating rollers are nice because they push stuff between them from both directions so it can get sucked up. Two rollers agitate carpet twice as mych. But the single rollers really do just as well. I think preference makes a bigger impact than cleaning ability. The S8s are the king of carpet vacuuming. Someone really ought to study the difference in vacuuming ability more closely between the two models. I cannot really tell a significant difference. Mopping performance for both models should be nearly identical. The S7s are excellent vacuum cleaners!!! I would be proud to own one! It is really hard to say if an S8 vacuums better than an S7. Possibly. Maybe not. I think the both do an excellent job, especially on rugs and carpets. I think one can more or less say the same thing about the vacuuming abilities of the S5s and S6s too. But the slightly higher vacuum pressure of the S7s and S8s does help! Sure, try an S8. Come back and report what you find! I would love to learn from your experience!!!

I am reading this conversation with interest, because my beloved 960 died recently. Out of all my robo\`s, it is the one that picked up the most dirt. My S7 does not even come close. So, I am looking to replace the 960 with something a little more modern with better navigation app. Really want keep out zones. Having trouble picking something out. Mainly want good vacuuming, all hardwood floors. No carpets.

I have 0 experience with automatic mopping robots (i own a Roborock S7), but I know about Valetudo (look it up) and the most compatible and best working robot with plumbing seems to be the Dreame X40 or X50 Master! Look it up if you want local control.

I have been with Deebot and Roborock for the last 8 years and recently bought a Yeedi M12 Ultra and absolutely love it. It is right around $600 right now on Amazon and keeps our hardwood and carpeted downstairs looking great. The machine itself is quiet, the base station is a little louder but does a great job emptying the vacuum, washing the mops and refilling the mopping solution. We have 2 kids with long hair and 2 large dogs, none of which have managed to tangle up the vacuum yet - a feat our Roborocks never accomplished. generally I'd agree with their ratings. of course, like all review sites, they only use one sample, and usually the earlier firmware version released. we've never had hair tangle issues (or since robot vacuums and regular vacuums have the same issue, it never seemed like a big deal to clean them once in a while), but they seem to prioritize it. I'm still not sold on docking stations. Many a time I'll find something stuck in my roborock s7 (piece of cardboard, whatever) that I wouldn't see if I used a dock. Vacuum wars certainly ranks good docks higher.

I started with a dumb robot and spent a lot of time 'robot proofing' the house so it wouldn't get stuck on cords, or trying to go under sofas and dressers. Adding bumpers under couch edges, raising up furniture with foam pads so it could go under, etc. and it still got stuck somewhere random 20% of the runs. the lidar and mapping go / no go zones completely changes the ability to complete the job. That is easier than dealing with a dumb robot. My roborock S7 rarely gets stuck. A roborock Q5 is $140! You could buy a new one if it broke after warranty and it'd still be cheap.

yeah, no carpets or pets, then you just need to much sure it can complete its run without getting stuck somewhwere. lots of objects that are in random places each day like toys? or fixed location like cables, planters, etc? as long as you get mapping / keep out zones, any robot will handle that. my roborock s7, (just lidar and bump sensors, no obstacle avoidance cameras) does fine. once in a while it'll eat a shoe lace and not complete the run. how crazy high are the thresholds? most robots can handle 2 cm, if more, then look at replacing it or getting one of the newer robots designed with 'legs' to raise up.

I want to add, that the 'drying' of the S7 models is only room temperature air so the drying runs for minimum 2 hours with a quiet but noticeable fan. That is a bit annoying for us, because it lives near our dining table. I would go for the newer models with warm air, because the drying process is much shorter.

In the pic there's a hole at middle left of my robovac. That's the exhaust. I made a hole for the exhaust to increase airflow. It worked, increased airflow by at least 2x but is more loud and exhaust now comes from the top.

We have four roborock S7’s running in our 5,000 sqft office. Bought them since they first came out years ago. They run every day. We just replace the regular maintenance parts - rollers, mop pad, brush and clean sensors. Only last year did we replace the battery for all 4. Other than that, no issue at all, rock solid, very pleased that we also have them for our homes too. We are considering the Eufy S1 Pro with water hookups. We have wood floors and it would be nice to have a roller mop that cleans better than what roborock has. If Roborock has a roller mop with water hookups, we prefer to stick with them, the app is convenient and we like the product.

Not a single new Roborock until they fix their new brushing system, the cleaning quality have dropped alot since S6/7. Atm dream Ultra seems to be the best choice if you got the money.

The q revo master has been doing pretty well at avoiding cables. Sometimes the mop gets stuck and the mount comes off but a lot less than my s7. Vacuum wars on YouTube also rated it the highest for avoidance with AI and its cameras

I have a roborok 7 and I have white furred dogs that shed constantly. I run the vac every day and it does a good job to keep the white tumble weeds down from my dogs. I only have 2 rugs and every other day I will use the hand vacuum. It makes my house look clean and keeps the dust down so I also don't have to dust as often. I can tell a difference than the older models that randomly moved about your space. One of these days they will be able to handle the rugs! I hope...

I also have the mopping Roborock and love it. We have 1 dog and 12 foster cats so daily sweeping and mopping is a necessity. It won’t save op money though I think it was $700. As long as the toys are picked up the only issue it occasionally has is with my really long hair getting wrapped around the rollers.
