I have a Roborock E5 with hardwood floors and it does great for me. It's been going strong for over four years now. Two longhair cats, recently down to just one. I tend to run it 4-5x a week to stay on top of the fur tumbleweeds.

Itellä Roborock E5, joka on askel päätöntä kanaa parempi eli etenee suoria viivoja pitkin. Siin on myös ns. moppi ominaisuus, eli ts. kostea rätti ahterissa jota vetää pitkin lattiaa. Tuskin on myynnissä enää. E: ei ole koiria

If you just want a slim, no-nonsense robot with solid suction and predictable navigation — not all the fancy mopping gimmicks — then at around 300 CAD I would say your safest bets are the Eufy 11S/15C Max for pure simplicity or the Roborock E4/E5 if you want slightly better mapping and stronger pickup. Just double-check the dock supports 100–240V, buy from someone with hassle-free returns, and grab a small stash of side brushes and filters so you’re not stuck waiting on replacements later.

I wish. The ones with LIDAR and particularly cameras are definitely smart _er_ but there is a tradeoff - they may get stuck less, but then they don't bother even trying to clean areas that look hard to them. The forest of chair and table legs under our kitchen table is a good example: The cheapo Eufy I bought for the MIL with no remote sensing gets stuck there every time. The Neato that normally lives upstairs that has LIDAR gets stuck occasionally but at least gives it a go. The combo mopping/vacuuming Roborock with both LIDAR and cameras that lives downstairs takes one look at the table area, decides it's too hard, and doesn't bother trying. So I have to manually clean it, or remember to pull out all the chairs. And it still gets stuck sometimes. I prefer the Neato behaviour. But it doesn't mop and Neato the company is essentially defunct.

I also have the mopping Roborock and love it. We have 1 dog and 12 foster cats so daily sweeping and mopping is a necessity. It won’t save op money though I think it was $700. As long as the toys are picked up the only issue it occasionally has is with my really long hair getting wrapped around the rollers.
