Im going to advise Roborock for 1 simple reason, it has the best app of all of them. This matters because it allows you to dial in how the robot operates and allows you to optimalize it for your needs. It allows you to make 1 room into 4 rooms so that it empties its dustbin 4 times on that room instead of 1. It also has a lot of options that improve its cleaning over default behaviour or set specefic zones, no go zones or invisible walls. You can let it vacuum the room twice before going into a double mop deep clean pass and have complex automations. It also has options to use extra detergent and change its mopping behaviour to very time consuming. Essentially I can let a roborock vacuum and mop a room in 30 minutes but I can also make it a 3 hour clean just by adjusting its behaviour and map settings. Whatever you choose, you need the best dock you can get, it needs detergent dispenser and heated water. So for Roborock I would go saros 10R or wait for the 20, it has very good detection for stains and spills as long as it always can reach its dock (it will trigger a mop clean after each spill). Its anti tangle feature is also capable of dealing with hay, it snaps it into small pieces (i have a rabbit), it does have one disadvantage, it doesnt like carpet and should only be bought for almost enterily hard floor operation.
I honestly don’t know why Roborock or any other brands are selling 3x more the price of buying it within China. This is simply extortion! I bought my P20 pro Ultra (qrevo version with 25k pa suction power) for just 2700 Chinese yuan! It’s region locked so the company can rip us off. I use it in China though but the price difference is simply horrible!
Most high end robot vacuums have learned to avoid this area with some models marking it as “furniture likely to get stuck on”. If the chairs’ horizontal legs are shorter than 3cm, both the roborock models with Adaptlift and the Dreame X50 Ultra/MOVA V50 Ultra will lift themselves to get over it. If higher than 3cm, only the dreame X50 Ultra and the MOVA V50 Ultra can cross it.
The roborock models with Adaptlift can only cross a single threshold up to 3cm and a tiered threshold up to 4cm (3cm + 1cm). Only dreame and MOVA’s robots with their threshold climbing features (ProLeap and StepMaster) can cross higher single thresholds.
In alphabetical order: Dreame’s robots with the ProLeap system (too many to list), Eufy’s S2, MOVA’s robots with the StepMaster system (V50, Z60 Ultra Roller Complete, Mobius 60, V70), Narwal’s flow, and Roborock’s model with the Adaptlift chassis should comfortably cross an inch
Roborock qrevo S5V or Pro is the right amount of tech with the right price. They are the models i recommend to everyone. If you buy a cheaper one you’ll just end up babysitting it a lot more.
Replacing the bag or the entire vacuum robot? I have two dogs and the bags fill up after about 5-6 weeks. This depends on the robot model as the bags are different capacities. Also, my Roborock robot has "Reactive AI" that has better camera-based detection of obstacles. When my dogs tear open one of their stuffies and get the stuffing everywhere the robot actual sees and avoids it until I clean it up. My old Roomba could not do this, and would either get clogged or quickly fill the disposal bag, so it's a good feature for reducing bag changes. Roborock doesn't have any models that are bagless. I think Shark is one of the few manufacturers that do. My Roomba robot lasted for 6 years before the suction motor burned out. I opted to replace it with a model with better navigation and cleaning instead of trying to repair it. I expect to get similar life from the Roborock.
I have not had to replace them yet. The app suggests "every 300 hours of use". With my Roomba I had to replace them because hair and string would get wrapped around the rollers and cut into the material. The Roborock rollers are a split anti-tangle design and so far have not caught anything and are practically brand-new still. I plan on washing them when needed and only replace them if they start to break down.
We have one of Roomba's distant cousins, Roborock, and named him Jarvis. He's a bit naughty though, and keeps getting stuck on things he shouldn't, but he works hard and he's a godsend, TBH, keeping the house clean during the week.
I just bought a Roborock mop and vacuum from Costco and love it. Huge upgrade from my old Roomba. It self empties and washes the mops. All you do is refill water and empty dirty water. With your budget you can even afford the upgraded model that cleans with hot water and is better in the corners . Go for it!
I thought the same until I tried a mopping robo. Having your floors mopped twice a week while you’re at work is priceless. You can still do some extra mopping once a month if you feel the need.
I also have the mopping Roborock and love it. We have 1 dog and 12 foster cats so daily sweeping and mopping is a necessity. It won’t save op money though I think it was $700. As long as the toys are picked up the only issue it occasionally has is with my really long hair getting wrapped around the rollers.
