Friend of mine has kids and came over several times and asked me what I was doing to my floors that made them feel so clean. I had no idea but around 6 months later I gave them my old Roomba 670 (the stupid one that bounces randomly off everything) while I upgraded to a Roborock Q5 Max+. Only after running my Roomba for a week in her apartment did she realize that the feeling she had in my house was from having actually clean floors. Since then she's tossed the Roomba and picked up the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and *loves* it. Now her floors feel cleaner than mine and I've debated upgrading to a robot that does mopping but probably will give it another year to let the technology mature and come down in cost.
For a two-story home, you’ll need a robot vacuum that remembers multiple floor maps and has strong suction on both hard floors and carpets. I recommend the Roborock Q5 Max; it’s a mid-range option with smart mapping and powerful suction. For quiet, slim daily cleaning, the Eufy 11S MAX is another great option. If you want detailed pros and cons on these models, I’m sharing [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/KeepThisInMind/comments/1o1wp3o/best_robot_vacuum_cleaner_for_wood_floors_that/) with the best robot vacuums for wood floors and multi-level homes. Hope it helps you find the best fit for your home!
To follow on to this question - what are good vaccums for pet hair? I had a RoboRock Q5 Max+ which was a pretty good unit (until it smeared and flung dog droppings everywhere with its rotating baseboard cleaning brush). The one thing I'm looking for is a vac that actually sucks the detritus successfully into its bag when it parks on its base. The Q5 Max+ was always jammed with what looked like lint/dog hair. It wouldn't get sucked into the base and would just clog the vacuum. Thanks!
Hello there, 3 cats(4 before), 2 dogs here. I've owned iRobot, Laresmart, Shark, and Roborock vacuums for about 10 years. I've tried a few robots along the way, but before I go any further, I really want to stress... DO NOT have your robot run on a schedule while you are not home. I've bought "poop detection" robots and such... and they just don't work yet... at least not 100%. Ask me how I know... 2 died to "poop" incidents. Now to answer your question, I have had many robots for carpets and floors, and so far Roborock seems to be the way to go... price, maintenance, and performance are all pretty good. I personally have the Roborock Q5 Max+, and I rarely have to touch it(no tangles in the brush!)... that being said, it does not have a mop. Side note: Mopping is very hit and miss. I personally just mop myself currently... but based on all the reviews... it may do 70% of a human job. My plan for this year(black friday) is to get another Roborock vacuum... Based on my research for the past month or so, **Roborock Qrevo S5V** or **Roborock Qrevo Pro** seems to be the way to go for a mid-tier/high-tier robot. Stay away from brush rollers; stick to the spinning type. Don't get sucked into the top-tier robots; they are experimental and will eventually trickle down to mid-tier robots. Keep in mind that while these robots are lifesavers, they are still "early tech"... AND they are very aggressive with the influencer space. If there is an affiliate link, don't trust the review. I'm in no way affiliated or anything, just based on my 1.5-year experience with my Roborock and other robots. I plan on getting a **Roborock Qrevo Pro** at black friday this year unless something else comes up
I generally recommend autoemptying for homes with pets that shed a lot. My old robot didn’t have one and it’s 500mL dustbin would clog up with fur after one run Q5 max+ and the q8 max+ are good choices because of the duorollers. The passive mop is easily removable and isn’t the main focus of this robot anyway. If you were in the eu I’d check out the dreame d20 pro plus for its antitangle dual rollers and fur compression feature.
That’s fair! My home simply is fur mayhem so I love the autoemptying. Check out the roborock q5 or q8 without an autoempty dock.
I know you are also into robot teamwork for that reason. I recently grabbed an offer on a local 2nd hand market. Q5 Max+ with dual roller, mint condition with just 40h total time, for 90€. And this guy is definitely better on carpet than my Q7 Max+. Probably my luckiest buy in the recent years. So if anyone looking for a good vacuum-only, try to find a Q5 Pro+/Max+. Hugest dustbin ever. Still with the regular big 5200mAh battery. These never come back. I guess they beat the Q7 M5+ in every discipline.
That's really obsessive, but in a good sense. What else should creative brains do with their life. I can't join the lawn mowing thing, because the lawn in front of my terrace is community owned. Well I could if I asked, but the janitor is earning his money by mowing it. So I did all my inside roller blinds and the outside shutters instead. All driven by daylight and sun elevation with changing trigger times over the seasons. Currently I am working on a sun glare detection scheme when the sun comes around the trees and shoots into my office. The goal is to have fully automatic shadowing with proportional blind positioning as necessary. Still in the early steps but keeps me busy with maintaining the automations. I will definitely have to add an electric awning outside. Not because I need it, but because I could control another thing to satisfy my impulsion.
Forget the Pa numbers regarding the "as powerful as" comparisons. They are totally misleading regarding vacuuming performance. Q5 and Q8 series have DualRoller brushes, they are legendary for vacuuming performance. Vacuuming effect is 80% brushing, 20% sucking.
Best one to fit your needs was Q8 Max+. DualRoller, obstacle avoidance (although not the best one), decent dustbin size. Sadly Roborock ditched the Q5 and Q8 for no better replacements. Q7 M5+ is a downgrade in every aspect. Brush roller, battery size, dustbin size...
