I have 2, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Both Roborock, S8 for downstairs (self cleaning mop) and a Q7 for upstairs. It has helped so so much with cleaning. It's great turning it on, going to the store for some stuff and coming back to a clean house. We have 2 cats so there is some litter on the floor sometimes, and just general dust and hair. It makes a map of your house, so if you only need a specific room to be clean you can select that. Usually I try to keep the floors free of stuff when I turn it on (I throw stuff on the sofa). But the Roborock is great with dodging clutter because of the sensors it has. Smaller stuff should be picked up since it can suck those up and get stuck. Also, careful with cords. Once the roborock pulled our playstation across the house hahaha.
My roborock q7 runs every time we leave the house and comes back home when we do if its not already there
I love our Roborock (bought in Amazon, I’ll look at what model and price it was) but it was huge pain to get on our wifi. My husband did it and was super annoyed.
We got the Q7, it is a vacuum and mop. I got it on prime day in 2024 for $219
I guess it depends on what you consider "budget friendly", maybe check out wirecutter for their current recommendations. We've had a roborock Q7 for a little over a year and paid $235 on prime day, It has vacuum and mopping capabilities but it doesn't empty itself. I have to empty it daily and sometimes it doesn't run because it didn't properly connect to the base the previous time it ran. You also have to wash out the filter once a week and clean it regularly but the app lets you know. We just have one cat but it's done a decent job collecting all the dust tracked around while we're finishing the basement. I think the Q10 is similar and costs $270 right now on Amazon.
I got the Q7 for $250 so $1800 seems absolutely insane to me but do you boo
Erg blij mee
The q7 is mostly vacuuming focused, the previous model puts a bit more focus on mopping. If you want a more vacuum only focused bot too there’s also the switchbot k10+ Amanda mentioned which I also think is a good choice for a vacuum only robot.
I’d choose the roborock Q7 over the other two models :)
Getting a robot vac as a suplement to perform a daily sweep and help keep on top of the floors can be helpful ideal. Replacing a normal upright entirely with a robot is not such a good idea. No robot can match the rug cleaning performance and power of a normal vac, they can't reach a lot of spots or vacuum furniture and corners either. I would always recommend having a normal vac around for deeper cleaning. Robot vacs do require maintenance themselves especially if long hair is involved. The rollers, even "anti tangle" ones accumulate hair in the brush roller ends which need to be cleared out regularly, on top of the regular filter cleaning and emptying. Plus they can struggle if cords, sock, and pet toys are laying around. All that said and if you think the maintainence won't be a burden, I'd look at the roborock q7 and q10 series of models. I've had relatively good luck with robotock machines, and they should help keep up with the floors. I wouldn't pay much attention to mopping functions either. Usually they're more work than help.
To clarify my opinion at least, the 360 visnav is the best robot I've used vacuuming wise. Where it manages to vacuum, it does it extremely well. But the actual navigation efficiency and software parts are some of the worst, meaning it often wastes a ton of time or misses huge areas of the space. The vacuum part is amazing, the robot part is amazingly bad. Making a new robot to drive around the vacuuming parts would have been incredible. Roborock's current Q7 (the newest one, older Q7 versions were not. Gotta love roborock's confusing naming) is definitely made by Picea (I don't know about the q10). And it's mediocre at best. Vacuuming performance is poor, build quality is meh, navigation is adequate, bin design and filtration are absolutely awful IMO. I don't get the praise for the current Q7. Every Picea made robot I've tried has been mediocre at best.
Idk the model you mentioned but actually bought a Q7 around 150$ and my house is now clean ! I have 3 cats and my MIL visit us sometimes with her Maine Coon. For the first time I highly recommend a regular vacuum and make the map with the robovac, then choose a medium frequency for it. Regularity IMO is the key. In my case : the vac clean the living room every 2 days, and the whole house every week, but I forbid it to clean the bathroom where the litter boxes are (I wasted a previous vacuum with litter) With a dog it could easier I think :)
My answer is whatever you can install Valetudo on it. It's fantastic having a robot vacuum where the entire management of the robot, is on the robot. Internet goes out? No worries, everything still works. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got into the mod (on a Roborock Q7) but I'm really happy with it.
