Go with the Roborock Q7 L5, It’s $250 (CAD), it doesn’t have the auto-emptying charging base but it has all the other leading features and a mop feature too, which makes it very dependable without spending $500>

r/CleaningTipsShould I buy a robot vacuum? The roborock Q7 L5 is down to $139.99 and looks tempting

I love mine. I love on a ranch so have soooooo much dirt and mud. I also have three kids and a husband. This helps knee down on the dirt and dust that feels overwhelming at times. I run it almost every day. It also makes you keep the floor decluttered. I’d recommend it !

I have a five year old Roborock and recommend this brand. There are a number of models, but the non-self-emptying ones seem to be a current bargain. Q7 M5 40% off for $179 at Amazon makes me want to get a second one (the M5 has more suction power than the L5)

I have a Narwal and a Roborock. Wanted to try different brands. We use the Narwal Z10 for mopping and it's great. Sometimes has hiccups where it slams on the breaks every 5 feet (like it detects something that isnt there), but restarting it fixes it. The roborock is a cheaper model, Q7 L5+, but just used for vacuuming, also does an amazing job vaccuuming pet hair especially at the price point.

I got the q7 L5 and it vacuums well, I have two cats that shed quite a bit. I haven't tried the floor washing function yet, but if you're interested in a deeper wash, the model with the rotating mops is better.

I agree with this guy, I have a Q7 L5+ and it docks, sometimes. It copes with my carpets okish and I have pretty heavy pile carpets but when it works, it works *quite* well

I think for your needs and expectations it's a good choice. It'll vacuum hard floors well and the bin is decently sized so you might not even need to empty it each use depending. And it'll have the software features you need to keep it away from the rug. I would say the mop is where it falls down, it's a very basic system and IMO not worth bothering with. But you can just not attach the mop and not put water in the tank. It's easy to specify vacuum only in the app. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have 5 dogs and expected it to vacuum a house full of deep pile carpet without needing to be emptied is all! It's a good deal for what it is I think. And I prefer the Q8 to their other low price machines like the Q7 L5 etc.

The q7 L5 doesn't automatically map out carpets, you have to designate no-mop areas in the map manually. The q7 l5 lacks a dedicated carpet sensor and relies upon brush resistance to trigger suction boost on carpet. But this system is not accurate enough to map out carpeted areas. The roomba 105 on the other hand does appear to have an ultrasonic carpet sensor and should avoid carpets by itself. No roomba made in the last few years will work with the old virtual wall units. The 105 has virtually nothing in common with older irobot designed units and is completely incompatible with old parts or accessories.

Getting a robot vac as a suplement to perform a daily sweep and help keep on top of the floors can be helpful ideal. Replacing a normal upright entirely with a robot is not such a good idea. No robot can match the rug cleaning performance and power of a normal vac, they can't reach a lot of spots or vacuum furniture and corners either. I would always recommend having a normal vac around for deeper cleaning. Robot vacs do require maintenance themselves especially if long hair is involved. The rollers, even "anti tangle" ones accumulate hair in the brush roller ends which need to be cleared out regularly, on top of the regular filter cleaning and emptying. Plus they can struggle if cords, sock, and pet toys are laying around. All that said and if you think the maintainence won't be a burden, I'd look at the roborock q7 and q10 series of models. I've had relatively good luck with robotock machines, and they should help keep up with the floors. I wouldn't pay much attention to mopping functions either. Usually they're more work than help.

r/RobotVacuumsDyson released a new robot vacuum?

To clarify my opinion at least, the 360 visnav is the best robot I've used vacuuming wise. Where it manages to vacuum, it does it extremely well. But the actual navigation efficiency and software parts are some of the worst, meaning it often wastes a ton of time or misses huge areas of the space. The vacuum part is amazing, the robot part is amazingly bad. Making a new robot to drive around the vacuuming parts would have been incredible. Roborock's current Q7 (the newest one, older Q7 versions were not. Gotta love roborock's confusing naming) is definitely made by Picea (I don't know about the q10). And it's mediocre at best. Vacuuming performance is poor, build quality is meh, navigation is adequate, bin design and filtration are absolutely awful IMO. I don't get the praise for the current Q7. Every Picea made robot I've tried has been mediocre at best.

r/RoborockQV 35A - Any reason to not purchase this for my first robot vacuum?

Honestly if mop functionality isn't something you'd use, I'd look for vacuum only models or models without the mop washing docking station at least. Even if they include a basic mop, usually it's removable and you can just stash it away. Roborock Q7 or Q10 for example. You'll get equally good vacuuming for a lower price and smaller footprint. Personally I find carrying a robot between floors to be annoying, I prefer to just have separate ones on each floor. You might be able to get two vac only robots for close to the price of the QV35A and save yourself having to move them between floors.

r/homeassistantWhich robot vacuum is best with HA right now?

That's not the point. Roborock has been supported well for ages, although somewhat inofficially. People are buying Roborock vacuums because you could trust them in being supported. Now there's two new models where they messed with the API for no good reason.

Your Edge C doesn't have the API issue. Affected models are Q7 L5/M5 and Q10.

I got the Roborock Q7 L5 recently, I didn't want to spend a lot because I was skeptical but honestly, it's been great! I run it every day or two, it vacuums everything and then I run it again with the mop. It's not perfect but it saves so much time and hassle.

r/RobotVacuumsNeed a robotic mop in Canada, overwhelmed with options
6 months ago

Canada here too. I ended up getting the Roborock Q7 L5+ from Amazon on Wednesday. For my first robot vacuum I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on case we decided it wasn’t worth it. We have vinyl plank on the main floor and thick plush carpet in the basement. And a dog that shreds. It’s been great! The mop isn’t obviously the best as it’s just wet mop that gets pulled along but by mopping a few times a week I figure that better than was I was doing before. The mapping and scheduling is super handy too.
