The 10/10R is the latest and greatest. Worshippers of the others just haven’t upgraded yet. If money is no object, get one of those.

I started with a cheap $200 Roomba. It would run into everything to orient itself. Upgraded to a $400 lefant N3 and it was much better. Better obstacle avoidance, suction, battery, navigation, and wouldn't run in to stuff to orient itself. The mop was meh and it would tangle on short hair often so I upgraded again to $600 mova p10 pro ultra and wow it's amazing. Like a 9/10 in my books. Navigation could be slightly better, and mopping is good but could be even better but very satisfied overall. I can't live without robo vacs anymore and recommend everyone try a good one out. I'd say the best would be one of like dreame x50 ultra or robo rock 10R or narwal freo z ultra but those are like $1400

I am engineer and I agree with you, what new technological approaches can come at the cost let say of electricity bill. Or technical part responsible for water cycle: clean water - dirt water - dust, can be not reliable for longer exploitation. But I will keep the eye on this brand and Now come down with just ordered Roborock G20s Ultra.

The USPs for me are its ability to punch through a sofa valance to clean underneath and to go under my 8cm TV cabinet. Only hiccup so far is that the bin had trouble emptying when it was full of Xmas pine needles and Labrador and cat hair but that only happened immediately after a family Xmas and it hasn't happened since. That said, I've had occasional dock suction blockages with all robot vacs I've tested from time to time so I give it the benefit of doubt. Otherwise it's a 5-star product and I really can't fault it. Having also reviewed the iRobot 10 Max I think it's time iRobot packed up and went home. Appalling product in almost every respect.

the navigation is excellent and it's the first bot I've ever used that's fitted with LiDAR (very clever solid-state) to go though a sofa valance! And once I'd selected the 'Pet' option it deftly avoided the small dog nylon bone without riding over it.

I have both the 10 and 10R and a Z70 I haven't opened yet. It's a tricky one – both are excellent cleaners but I prefer the 10R's mops to the 10's mopping pad, though I rarely mop. I also like the sleek looks of the 10R robot unit but much prefer the look of the 10 dock with its hidden water containers and push-to-open bin door. Both have good obstacle avoidance but only when the 'pet' option in settings is applied (it's off by default). However, my biggest deciding factor with robot vacs of all kinds is how well they empty their bins as I have four shedding animals at home. In this regard I've had issues of the dock blocking with the 10R, incomplete emptying and dust collection around the bag interface area. The 10 has been fine to date. So, given this and a few other things, I'd say the 10 just swings it.

This. Most sites prefer the 10R. Any other vaccum roboter company switched their topmodels to spinning mops as well. OP just taking some reviewers he thinks tell the story his way and supports their tests. All of these are test scenarios anyhow. To my youtube reviewer search, also only including those not sponsored, 10R was slightly superior in mopping while no difference in sucking BUT with the already mentioned drawback of 10 increased complexity when it comes to cleaning the dock. There is no difference in navigation after both have had the chance to learn the environment after a few cleans. Both navigation systems are just equal. OP just loves the 10 and wants it to be the suprior model so hard. So be it. For you. But dont tell people that is a fact, because it isnt, you were highly biased right from the beginning and seemed immune vs facts even telling people for a long time the water tank would be so much bigger in the 10. Yeah. 1mL. **It's easy: 10R > 10.** But both are the best you can buy right now. There is simply no significant difference apart from docking cleanability and yeah, as already mentioned, corner mopping. This micro-mop on the 10 really is a joke, can't concinve me of anything else and this fact none of the youtubers took into considerations as well. So easy pick. You can try to convince yourself that the 10 is superior, but in fact, it isn't. :) Enough on this stupid comparison now, cheers! Happy easter everyone!

Sure you got a list of "ignore this review" from youtubers who put the 10R over the 10. But here is just one to get you started, who - oh no - states as well that the 10R has slightly better mopping performance. Looking at your history of comments you are on a mission right from the beginning to spread the message that 10 is superior to 10R and I can only guess because only the 10 was about to released to your country? I don't know. Here are two big testers international, I sticked to german reviewers since I am from germany but the conclusion is the same overall: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ZU6wM5w88](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ZU6wM5w88) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkHBbDCOsNE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkHBbDCOsNE) Stick to the facts: \- Manual cleaning the dock is required and much more complex with the 10 \- The mini side cleaning cloth of the 10 is a joke and was not tested properly by ANY of the youtubers out there, this mini surface is simply a joke and there is no test needed to conclude that this will not get the job as good as the big pad with much bigger surface to adsorb the dirt \- Navigation: No difference \- Suction power: 10R slightly above 10 but in that range its anyhow, as you confirm yourself, marketing \- 10 has a 1mL bigger internal water tank \- Cleaning performance 10R>10 according to my youtube research I've done since both were on my radar, but only SLIGHTLY so nothing I would call the 10R suprior to the 10, however when it comes to cleaning edges there is a CLEAR lead from the 10R due to the huge pad vs. minipad that, again, none of the testers took into considerations Now that's enough for me for this thread. You just don't get what I and others try to get to your brain with the size of the minimop. Its not backed because it was not considered or tested. Look how all these tests are made. Is there any dried up stains on corners tested? Any old dust already attached in a slightly sticky way to the floor like it does in real life? Not that I am aware of. And now take this super tiny piece of cloth and try to manually clean the corners of your house. You will find out that it is fully absorbed with dirt after a few meters. And there is a SIGNIFICANT difference to the size of the 10R. But hey. You asked proof. I delivered. You were, as expected, not satisfied even though I provided requested "evidence" whatever you can call some youtubers "evidence". Yeah. I could get you much more videos of said conclusion on mopping performance but even if I present to you 50 more videos you won't be satisfied. I know this wont concinve you either as you will find other things. We get it, you are biased. From the beginning. You are fine with your choice. Got it. But stop spreading misinformation as self proclaimed facts while citing your three favorite youtubers that reflect your message. For everyone else who is interested in buying: make your own research but dont listen to biased OP who wants the 10 to be superior more than anything else. Consider this mini mop area of the 10 and ask yourself how much dirt would that be able to absorb before simply smearing it around. I repeat again - you cannot choose wrong with either of both, they are nearly equal but 10R has a slight edge in mopping performance and does not come with the complex manual cleaning of the docking station. Case closed.

I just bought a 10R and I am super happy with it. I seriously considered the Z70 because I was already spending $1600 so why not spend $2000, but I couldn't get over how ugly and cheap it looks. I am very interested in the next generation of arm-equipped robots though, being able to pick up the dog toys instead of just cleaning around them sounds so nice.

They both have trade offs vs the other but they’re both great robots. The 10 is a little more reliable because it uses an advanced version of last gen navigation tech, whereas the 10R uses the first generation of new navigation tech so it avoids objects better in certain scenarios but will sometimes be a buggier and less polished navigation experience. Personally I bought the 10 because I thought the white/silver dock looks nicer in my home. I was expecting to be a little disappointed in the vibrating mop pad which was my biggest concern but it’s actually great.

Reviewers are rewarded to get videos out ASAP for views. First review out gets all the clicks. I was one of the last ones to release the video due to the units getting several firmware updates that changed their behavior. Vacuum Wars buys his units retail so his videos should reflect what a buyer would see. You mentioned that I chose the 10r over the 10. "but at the end he said he’d personally go for the 10R, purely because he believes Roborock is moving forward with **Starsight Navigation**, since it’s in the Z70 (**this is incorrect**)." First, thanks for watching my videos! Sadly that is a bit out of context from what I said. I did mention that I suspect Roborock might be transitioning to Starsight in the future, but only time will tell. I do not think one should choose the 10r just because of this system though. It does have it's advantages with object avoidance, but has some navigation bugs too. Here is what I said and I still feel this way today. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7DW-mx-TRs&t=752s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7DW-mx-TRs&t=752s) As it relates to which one should someone choose I would say get the one that works best for you. Both are good robots and each have their sets of pros and cons. I suspect the 10 was meant to be the flagship, but I am not positive. Jamie

Bang for buck - mova p10 ultra Money is no object/I want the best - roborock Sara's 10r or dreame x50 ultra Budget/cheapest option changes alot based on sales. Just the other week I bought a refurbished L10s ultra for $240 Honorable mention - the new eufy e28 can be had for $800. I think its worth considering because the roller mop system they have going seems to do really good for mopping in general.

For mopping, ideally you will want spinning mop pads and the largest water tanks available (unless you're able to run plumbing). You will likely need to refill the clean water and empty the dirty water tanks daily if the court is regularly used. The Saros 10R has a large clean water tank in the dock but a small on-board tank (65mL vs 80-100mL on other Roborocks) so even though it will do the job, it will also need to dock and refill more often, so probably the least efficient solution with a ton of features you won't care about. The QRevo series is probably ideal. You probably won't care about having the best obstacle avoidance, so even a slightly older one with spinning mop pads will probably be more than enough. I'd probably buy 2 of the QRevo Plus or something similar and have it clean the court from both ends. But really, a consumer robot isn't really the best solution. You will definitely be running these robots to their limit every single day, and you will have a ton of consumable costs.

This isn’t true, the Saros 10R has lidar as well. The 10 has a retractable lidar and the 10R has one built into its Starsight system and is less prone to failure because it doesn’t require a spinning turret. Here is a good comparison between the 2 bots: https://vacuumwars.com/roborock-saros-10r-vs-10-comparison/

Many robot vacuums can get the job done; Roborock, Eufy, and Dreame are all reliable brands. I suppose pet hair and paw prints might be big issues in your home, so preventing tangles and mops are important. The Roborock Saros 10R and Eufy E28/25 feature dual separation rollers to tackle tangles. For mopping, spinning mops are sufficient, but if you want the best, go for a roller mop.

What settings are being used for the vacuuming. I have my carpets set at full power and it pulls out the ultra fine dirt from the pad and the carpet has been here for years. Even my old upright has enough power to suck up the dirt from the pad. I have the saros 10r the rest of the house with hardwood floors it set at medium suction. So if you are not picking up much change settings.

We got a 10R to clean our studio at work. About 12x18m and it failed miserably. From comments here I determined that the new Starsight system has a higher resolution but not as much range as the LiDAR. So if you go for a robot, take one that uses LiDAR or even gyroscopic navigation.

Yeah, I got quite disappointed with the 10R tho. I mean it's top of the line everything but even with placing additional reference points in the space, it couldn't clean it. Also it's not an easy space, white walls, big full size windows and also some mirrors (both not all the way to the ground but almost). So there is a lot that can confuse it. Nevertheless, I also think there is some software problem as well. The added picture is just one of the experiments I made you can see the additional reference points. It was the same result in all the "rooms" https://preview.redd.it/p1z1d7c9xjwe1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea9588d9e0f343d521e442927ccfee062c376ce6

We got our saros 10r two days ago. We’ve had it clean the entire house twice already. We have a lab that is constantly shedding and we just could keep up. The machine has done a phenomenal job of cleaning. We can see and feel a huge difference. Haven’t had any trouble with obstacle avoidance. On a couple of occasions it would cross over an extension cord, but once I noted on her app that the cord could be ignored it did fine. I will say (as noted by someone above), even between day 1 and 2 it was clear that the machine learned to better navigate the house and recognize a variety of objects (beds, rugs, cords, etc.) Highly impressed. Caveat: this is my first robo-vac, so I have nothing to compare it too. I have read that it’s way slower in cleaning than the Qrevo for example. It does seem slow, but I don’t think I expected it to be fast and do a good job. So, I kinda don’t care.

Yeah was looking at the 10R, think we may start off with one of those, see how well it works in a limited area and then expand from there. Was hoping something in the QRevo lineup would work since they are $500-$600 cheaper but want the best we can get for our use case as well.

I have not really much to add here since i have a completely different approach regarding cleaning performance tests. Vacuumwars does mainly some sweeping tests (the only more vacuuming weighted test is their cravis test that they for whatever reason do not attach much value anymore in their rating - their carpet test is flawed mainly due to the design and short runtime - one issue is that it favours multipass tech like iRobots DirtDetect and punish longer periods of edge/corner cleaning (no dirt embedded) or slower navigating robots - and does not represent longterm cleaning). I test the longterm vacuuming performance (and connected to this to what extend the robot is able ro replace manual cleaning) using certified test dust for both hardfloor and carpets that simulates household dust that is much more difficult to remove even compared to sand (and is mandantory for IEC testing standards for all vacuuming cleaning devices including vacuum robots). If you may have seen some of my latest videos or especially about the Saros 10R hardfloor part ( [https://youtu.be/08SC1tb69j4?t=357](https://youtu.be/08SC1tb69j4?t=357) ) you have seen that these units are no able to remove this dust from my laminat by vacuuming only - they need mopping - and even with mopping they are not able to remove the dust in the gaps/grouts - something that some (by far not all) vacuuming focused robots are able to do without problems. I would go into this in more detail for vac only robots (and mopping overall) but i have no footage uploaded yet (besides the iRobot Max 705 that also fails this test) to "proof" it for way better performing robots with the same testing conditions i used for the Saros 10R testing video. But here is one example i posted in a reddit post a while ago (as stated before not the current test condition i use and it covers the vac part only). Just had this 2 days but here is a video of the Roborock Dance Party I found in settings as well as my first impressions. The Saros 10R’s dock packs a massive 16.3-ounce detergent bottle, which is great for minimizing refills. But the cord management on the dock is awkward—the thick power cord doesn’t sit cleanly, and I’m not sure if I’m just folding it wrong or if it’s a design flaw. Mapping had some hiccups: the bot got stuck by my toilet during the first run, though remapping fixed it. The auto-room partitioning isn’t the sharpest—I had to manually split my living room and kitchen. That said, the adaptive lift chassis works well once you mark thresholds or carpets in the app. Edge detection is solid, though it still bumps into cords dangling from walls (needs a software tweak?). The app is sleek and intuitive, way better than competitors, and the "Hello Rocky" voice assistant responds instantly. But there are gaps: no notifications when tasks finish, when mop pads are removed, or when drying starts. Also, no option to set a cleaning order for rooms? Seriously? And why does the app occasionally flash a weird strobe light effect during live view? Mopping performance is strong overall. The auto-remopping feature works in all modes (nice!), and **the water residue is perfect for me—floors dry quickly but still feel thoroughly cleaned**. Bigger issue: if you set it to vacuum carpets first, after it does that it will go pick up the mop pads and start mopping without washing the mop pads first, major software bug? Carpet mapping is janky on the first run just like Dreame (you need to do a full vacuum cycle for accuracy), but it *does* auto-delete phantom carpets over time. Can’t delete them manually, though. **TL;DR** - **Likes:** Huge detergent tank, adaptive mopping, self-correcting carpets, sharp edge/threshold detection, smooth app, **ideal water residue**. - **Gripes:** No task/mop notifications, app glitches, clunky room partitioning, can’t set cleaning order. - **Verdict:** Hardware shines, software holds it back. Fixable flaws, but updates need to happen ASAP. Still, the mopping smarts (and **flawless floor-drying**) and dock features make it a solid contender—if you’re patient with quirks.

Many robots cannot mop with warm or hot water. This is currently a new feature on upright vacuum mop combos. Currently there is only hot water mop washing on most models. The roborock Saros 10 claims to mop with hot water up to 70° and the Saros 10R claims to mop with warm water. I am skeptical of this claim as it doesn’t use a roller mop where it feasibly could live up to this claim. There is the upcoming MOVA Z50 Ultra that can mop with constant 36° water as it has a track type roller mop which makes this claim achievable. Generally, most robot vacuums also do fail when it comes to living up to the hot water mop washing claim. Dreame made models do reach the advertised temperature but it is mainly only for a moment and it’ll usually be washing the mops with lukewarm to warm water In the EU market, I’d recommend Xiaomi as the most cost effective robot vacuum mop combo brand unless you’d like the extra bells and whistles such as hot water mop washing + mop extension where it’ll be better to consider brands like dreame. Most of its combo models are compatible with the anti-tangling dreame TriCut brush. It works well in my home with a long haired corgi and people with long hair. The Xiaomi x20 pro looks rather nice. For obstacle avoidance, please tidy up your cables. Most LDS-only robots are rather stupid when it comes to reflective or transparent walls. I recommend models with good obstacle avoidance if your cat makes messes robots cannot clean and must avoid at all costs. This usually requires RGB cameras. If the best obstacle avoidance is what you’re looking for: Narwal Freo Z ultra or any of their RGB camera enabled robots. It currently seems to have the best (not perfect!) smart cleaning mode. Its strength lies in its good mopping and anti-tangling but sadly not vacuuming. Dreame RGB camera enabled models starting from the X30 Ultra and onwards. MOVA is a subbrand of dreame so RGB camera enabled robots from the P10 Pro Ultra and newer will perform similarly as it will use the same obstacle avoidance software. Dreame is a rather good all rounder combo robot with the best edge cleaning. Antitangling performance is also rather good. Eufy S1 Pro and other models that will use the “3D Matrix” binocular infrared 3D dToF sensor array. Roborock is also a good all rounder with the easiest app to use but it will not be as good avoiding obstacles such as cables and pet messes compared to other brands, especially on carpets. For self cleaning: Dreame/MOVA models with the AceClean dryboard where water jets are used to clean the mops. The x50 ultra will be best at self cleaning including cleaning its own filter when autoemptying but it is currently outside your budget. > dreame models that use the self driven wipers on the mop washboard ≈ roborock models using a mop washboard with motorized wipers ≈ NarWal’s mop washboard where they flush the washboard with water before and after washing the mops.

Then stay away from Z70. It has worse vacuuming performance. 10R has the very effective DuoDivide roller brush system with hair anti tangling. The Z70 is nowhere near as good. You'd pay for that Z70 arm not only with money, but also with compromises on cleaning performance. And what you get is a toy arm with currently very limited capabilities. Only very few item types are supported, and even then it fails on half of all attempts.

It is extremely good at cleaning and avoiding obstacles. It not only memorizes obstacles but takes a photo of them that the user can touch while viewing the map to bring up the photo and to rename the type of obstacle if desired. The unit was an upgrade from a Roomba S9. That unit did a good job of vacuuming but was very prone to having problems with obstacles. For example, it would launch itself up onto the circular rod -like bases of several of my chairs and become stuck there. They Roborock 10R correctly recognized all of the bases as something to avoid. Some of them get labeled as chair bases and others simply as wires. **It has avoided every obstacle.** The first few times I ran the unit it stayed several inches away from all obstacles. Once it had completed several runs it began to come close to the obstacles but still avoided them–Getting close to obstacles to clean by them without touching them is great. It does a great job of vacuuming and mopping. I have read some reviews that rank the 10R is better than the 10. Very happy with the 10R.

I purchased a unit earlier this year at the current price because I wanted to get one before the tariffs might cause prices to skyrocket in the United States. Very happy with the unit and its excellent performance. My house is ranch-style with a single floor and a mixture of carpet and bare floor. Vacuum does an excellent job of vacuuming and mopping, Navigating and evading obstacles. OP is considering waiting until July prime days before a tariff pause deadline? I don't understand the bit about a tariff pause deadline. Have things changed yet again regarding tariffs? My understanding was that there is a ninety day pause on imported goods from countries other than China but not on those from China.

Oh man, at $1600 I wouldn’t touch an ecovacs. Too many issue with the app and customer support. Plus their side brushes are really aggressive and can spread crumbs instead of picking it up. $1600 just seems expensive for what ecovacs usually offers. With that said I think both would fit what you need and while I am totally on the roller mop bandwagon as it leaves the floors cleaner, i would get the 10r over the X9. For you, mostly because it’s cheaper and because the split brush on the 10r is absolutely amazing with long hair, and it’s 3.14 height means it can get under A LOT of things.

I have two Dreame x40s. Probably one of the best robot vacuums from the last generation. The new generation is the Roborock Saros 10R and Dreame X50. As for the x40, I have two of them and they have probably the best object avoidance on the market while also have great cleaning performance. I run them both on a daily schedule and they have no issues cleaning my house without eating cords, cat toys and other random things that end up on the floor. The obstacle avoidance lets me run it daily without having to prep my house. If you have to prep your house, or can't run the robot on a schedule, it makes a robot vacuum a lot less useful. I basically don't have to think about the robot outside of refilling it's water and cleaning the filter. I also tried the QRevo slim but returned it since its obstacle avoidance wasn't as good. It cleaned well, but the Dreame cleaned just as well while having superior object avoidance so kept the Dreame. Since the new generation of robots just came out, I would wait a bit before buying but it looks like the Saros 10R might be one of the best picks right now. The Dreame x50 also looks good but I've heard some issues and bugs with the software but it does have better features like a self cleaning vacuum filter. Either way I would wait a bit for bugs to be ironed out and more reviews to come out.

I've owned both (Edge not curv but they're identical besides the base). My Qrevo Edge stopped working after a month so I just returned it instead of getting it replaced under warranty and waited for the Saros 10R instead. I've had the Saros 10r for a couple days now and ran it multiple times so there may be some things i'm not aware of yet but the main things i've noticed so far is that the Qrevo had bigger tanks so you don't need to fill the tank / clean out the dirty tank as often. Qrevo obviously has a bigger base footprint as a tradeoff. The Saros mapping was better/more accurate than the Qrevo and was able to accurately depict problem areas / pets. It automatically was able to map out my shoe rack, bed, couches on the map as well as all the rooms and carpets very accurately. The Qrevo wasn't bad by any means but the Saros has definitely been slightly better. I have a little 2 inch step up going from my kitchen to living room and both had no issues dealing with it. Both the mopping and vacuuming are of similar quality from the few runs i've done but i've also not had any extreme messes either. In terms of object avoidance, my Qrevo Edge was not able to avoid some cables or other things like small pet toys my puppy would bring out at times. Once it even ran over a little log (of shit) my puppy left out for it which caused me to have to open it up and clean it out. I haven't had this issue yet with my Saros in terms of pets. Fortunately my puppy is slightly older now so it's not shitting in the house so I can't say for certain the Saros would avoid it. I primarily used the Smartplan feature for both and both are good enough to handle my 2 dogs hair with no issues. I think the Saros 10r is a very slight upgrade over the Qrevo Edge/Curv but I don't think it warrants "upgrading" if you already have a Qrevo. It's definitely less of an upgrade if you have massive areas to clean as you'll need to swap out the water tanks far more often but that's also just an expected tradeoff. I do personally think if you're in a return window it's worthwhile to do so but realistically it's a very minor difference.

I have tried both the eufy s1 pro with the roller mops and the saros 10r. No doubt about it the rollers work better. They left the floor very evenly wet and constantly used clean water vs just using the mop then washing etc. but, roller mops have wayyyyy more maintenance. Looked at how gross the dirty water talk onboard the eufy was after a few weeks and decided I didn’t want to have to constantly clean that. The saros 10r vacuums well and mops “good enough”’with the spinning heads.

I got my Saros 10R yesterday around this time (purchased it myself). I'm upgrading from a S7 Max V. Had a Neato D7 before that and a Robock S5 Max and very briefly a Dreame X40 that broke. [https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png](https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png) **Few things before I go into it:** I live in a relatively small home. My first floor is mostly hardwood/tile with a 15x20' area rug in the living room. My second floor is all deep carpet. I have a long haired German Shepherd and a wife that both shed a fair amount of longish hair. I keep my rooms mostly tity but my computer does have a fair amount of cables/wires that are wrapped together, but run along the floor. My wife also has a Korg keyboard that has a foot pedal and she often leaves it on the ground. **Super Pros:** * General hardwood/tile mopping significantly better than the S7 Max V. My wife and I both noticed it immediately after the first clean I ran. It covered more areas, got closer to objects (the pivoting side mop helps a lot with that) it reached under my cabinets and it was able to get under two pieces of furniture the S7Max couldn't fit under. * Low Pile Rug performance is much better. I do wish I could set it to 2x crisscross every time on the area rugs.. but the mixed pattern will have to do. * It's way, way, way quieter. General runs are quieter. Max+ mode (or w/e its called) is way quieter. Mopping is now nearly silent. The transfer from robot to base is much quieter than the S7 MaxV. * The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. * The feature set is more rich over the S7 Max. This one is a think a bit annoying because I feel like a some of these features the S7 could do, its just software locked.. but having the ability to do pet area deep cleaning, mixed pattern cleaning, the rug options + all the leave behind the mops, extensions, re-mopping, etc is all really cool. * The detergent dispenser is a nice addition over the S7 MaxV. * The ability to clean out the tray and the self cleaning stuff is super nice. **Kind of Pros but maybe a little not:** * Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. * I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. The Saros 10R filled about a quarter of it's bin - but no tangles! The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. Neato is still king of deep carpet cleanup (if you ignore how jammed full of hair it gets) * I think the takeaway here is that the Saros 10R is big improvement but I find Roborock still lacks with hair pickup on deep carpets - even area rugs, to an extent.. over much older vacuums. * Pivoting Side Brush is good.. sometimes? When it works, it obviously works and pulls stuff out of corners, I don't find it working that often though - especially under the cabinets/corner cabinets. It comes outsometimes for a bit then goes away. (this is with the AI Lab Flexi arm thing enabled). * Navigation seems similar/better. In terms of actually going around and finding how to get there, it seems quicker (i haven't timed it) and it does less random movements like my S7 Max V did both during and after its cleaned. **Cons:** * The obstacle avoidance seems worse, maybe even way worse? I know it's only been 24 hours and I know the system the 10R specifically uses is new, but so far it's been pretty bad at detecting things, especially cables. * Yesterday when I was messing around with it, it ran into one of my dogs stuffed toys and got stuck on it. It also decided to "jump" little tray tables I have under my sofa, and got stuck on a wire behind them. (I set this as a no-go from now on). * This morning was the first time I ran it on a schedule - I do it early before I wake up, but I woke up to it stuck on the cable for my Wife's keyboard, the mop got wrapped in the cable and it pulled it off. * Just an hour or so ago today, when I was testing the carpet pickup on the second floor, it ran into a sock under my nightstand and got jammed. * Kind of disappointing considering my S7 Max V maybe got stuck twice, in the entirety of 2 years I owned it. I'm chalking this up to a combination of bad luck, weirdness because it's trying to hop stuff the others wouldn't attempt, and relatively new firmware on a new type of obstacle avoidance system. I hope it will improve. * All the Bins are too damn small. * My dog blows his coat twice per year. When that happens my S7 Max V can sometimes get nearly filled with dog hair. I've had to split rooms up into subrooms in order to force it to go back to the dock more often to empty. In this case - the Saros 10R not only has a smaller bin, but it's better at cleaning hair. I can see this being a problem. * It seems to use more water than my S7 MaxV while mopping, yet the clean and dirty bin are both smaller. Which means more refills. * The gloss on the front of the dock is a fingerprint magnet. I hate it. **Conclusion:** Overall, again after only 24 hours, I think its' a pretty nice upgrade over the S7 MaxV and I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping software improves the obstacle avoidance, which is my biggest concern at the moment. I also hope Roborock continues to improve it's suction/hair pickup performance - i really hope youtubers also create better tests for this. A lot of these guys say these newer robots are "perfect" at it and it's just not been my experience at all. They are getting better - in fact tangles seem solved, which is great, but they also leave a ton of hair behind.. even when compared to older robot vacuums but especially compared to a Dyson or something. **If anyone has any questions or wants anything specifically answered let me know ill do my best to respond.**

Yes I'm still satisfied but there are definitely areas the robot lacks and things I don't think I see often spoken about. For starters the bin size is effecting me more than i thought. As I wrote in the original post, I have a long haired German Shepherd dog and he sheds a fair amount. I manually move my vacuum the second floor about once a week, sometimes longer. The bin is too small so it fills up entirely and hairfluff gets jammed coming out of the suction hole. But not only is the bin small, the design doesn't allow it to fill the bin. I've basically never seen the bin entirely full, it's always 80% or so full with gaps on the edges. I've looked around a bit and apparently this is a known issue and it was an issue on the previous Q8 I think? It's not the end of the world - I clean it out run it again and/or try to bring it to the second floor more often. I personally find the object avoidance worse than my S7 MaxV. On top of it being worse (in terms of colliding with objects) the design of the spinning mops makes it more likely to stop the run. Basically my S7 Max V would occasionally run over stuff -- but it would continue going. The mop pad wouldn't get bulled off. The Saros 10R not only seems to hit more objects, but when it does the mop pad often gets pulled off and requires intervention. This is a little frustrating - that being said I know someone else with the 10R that doesn't have this problem. I really think this has to do with the surface types/colors. I have dark grain hardwood floor and a geometric carpet. I think it struggles on this. I find it not only uses more water but the water in is smaller, requiring slightly more maintenance than my S7 Max V. \_\_ That being said I LOVE the anti-tangle brush. 3 Months and I haven't had to clean the brush one time. It's literally perfect for me. It mops/vacuums significantly better than my S7 MaxV. Especially on carpets (especially especially pulling dog hair off carpets). It cleans corners better. Gets under more objects because it's smaller. It's just way way better at cleaning in general. It's super quiet, way quieter than the S7 MaxV. The dock maintenance is significantly better. It does a better job self cleaning but also when you have to manually clean having the ability to just pull the tray out is awesome. Overall I really like it - I probably won't be upgrading for 2-3 generations as this really fixed the hair problem which was my biggest issue with the last vacuum. I don't really care for the arm pickup stuff - I'd rather them try to design vacuums that clean/climb stairs personally. FWIW I had a Dreame and had a problem with it and their support turned me off their whole company. Roborock might be just as bad but I've had 3 roborocks with no issues.

There’s not a robot on the market that’ll detect and avoid items as small as legos (single legos can be the size of particles it’s designed to suck up, so I guess it depends on what you mean there). I had hopes the Saros 10R was finally the robot that could reliably avoid cables, but I’ve seen tons of reports that it’s not consistently avoiding them at all, but I think it is the best (albeit most expensive) option right now for obstacle avoidance. Honestly, I think you need to lower your expectations for what’s possible right now. There are options better than the Qrevo pro, but not night and day different.

Each of these will have its strengths and weaknesses. The E28 will be the best at mopping. Not that the others are terrible, but their mopping systems are inferior to the roller mop in the E28. The others make up for this with smart features, where they will automatically re-mop when they detect they've mopped a particularly dirty area, but like a lot of smart/AI features, the robot may not always get it right. The roller mop system on the E28 will be more likely to get the floor clean the first time. I have a Eufy S1 Pro, which uses the same basic mopping system, and can vouch for its excellence on hard floors with both wet messes and tougher stains. The Saros 10R will likely be better at many other things. There are indications that the 10R is better at obstacle avoidance than most other Roborock offerings, and I've seen at least one review that cast the T50 as only on par with other Ecovacs models. One advantage the 10R will have in mopping: it can leave the mop pads at the base for vacuum-only jobs. The E28 uses the Eufy X10's obstacle avoidance system, which at one time was top of the class and is still probably better than either of the alternatives. It's too early to tell which is better at vacuuming, with both the T50 and E28 claiming superior vacuuming, and the 10R demonstrating that in independent reviews. This is an advantage for the 10R right now: having been out a bit longer, there are plenty of non-shill reviews available. One other advantage the 10R will have over the others: lifting. All three can lift their mops on carpet, but the 10R can lift its whole chassis when vacuuming high-pile carpeting, and can lift the main and side vacuum brushes when it detects a wet mess to avoid sucking or spreading liquid.

What's more important for you: great hard floor mopping and so-so carpet vacuuming, or the reverse? Unfortunately, even with the most expensive robots, it's all about compromise. If you prioritize mopping, you can go two routes right now: "dumber" but really good mopping, or second-rate mopping that makes up for it with smart features. For the former, I believe the market leader is still the Eufy S1 or S1 Pro, with its roller mop. The roller mop is superior largely because it cleans the roller as it mops and collects dirty water on the robot itself, while all the rest rely on going back to the dock to clean the mop occasionally, leaving more of a possibility of spreading dirt around rather than taking it off the floor. Look at the extra features for the Pro to see if they're worth the extra money. There are a few newer robots that have roller mops with some better features, but reviews have been mixed at best for these, so proceed with caution; these would include the Ecovacs Deebot X8 and Yeedi S14 (which are largely the same unit with a few different features and prices, as Yeedi is the budget brand for Ecovacs). Most of the top flagship robots fall into the second category, including the Roborock Saros 10R and Dreame X50. I've described how roller mops are better than the spinning pads of these robots. These higher-end robots make up for that by analyzing what it's doing with various features to recognize stains or messes, or sensing dirt in the water used to wash the mop. In those cases, it will pay more attention to messy spots, go back early to wash the mop, or re-mop areas it thinks might have been too dirty to clean effectively the first time. This can be more effective than a dumb roller mop -- when the AI systems actually figure out that something needs to happen, which they don't always do. These seem to be improving over time, though. If you prioritize vacuuming, my advice would likely be the same for preferring smart mops, as those flagships also tend to be better at vacuuming than roller mops have been so far. These would also be good choices if you're not as willing to sacrifice some vacuuming performance for top-notch mopping. My experience with the Eufy S1 Pro is that the carpet performance is OK, but not great, and I have no reason to believe other roller mops have improved on that. Finally, there are a number of robots due to be released in the next few months that promise to give you the best of all worlds: great roller mop performance with smart mopping and awesome vacuuming. These would include the Mova Z50 and Narwal Flow. Of course, we won't know for sure until we have good independent reviews available; they apparently exist in Chinese, but I don't have access to those, so can't comment. It's possible that the new robots won't be any better than what you can get now, so it's up to you whether it's worth waiting.

"It knows and doesn't scratch itself". If you browse a bit this reddit, you will have bad surprised about the Saros 10, I've seen more than one that got scratched on top :( This said, interesting infos about the Z70 and the use of starsight vs lidar. Thanks for all the insights and sharing your knowledge :) I doubted A LOT like many of us between Saros 10 and Saros 10R and went with the Saros 10R for the starsight + easier dock to clean + no risk of having lidar error/turret that breaks and needs to be replaced. Personally, coming from the S7 MaxV, I'm amazed. What is really weird though, is that I received a defective unit first, with a main brush that broke in 3 days. The robot was fine the first 2 days but I was VERY underwhelmed in terms of performance, navigation etc (compared to my s7) What's interesting is that my new Saros 10R that has now been working for 7 days is like 10 times better than my old defective Saros unit, way faster, way smarter in the way it moves etc...and I tried both with the same firmware before updating to the latest one. I have no explanation, but the difference between the 2 Saros 10R was huge. As for the whole "duel" between Saros 10 and 10R, I guess it's just a question of preferences. I haven't seen a single test saying one is largely better than the other. Firmware update plays a big role as well in performance.

I have had a S8 MaxV Ultra for a year. I love it. I’ve had MANY other robots come through my house and none have compared to it. Not even the new Saros 10r. I had 2 of those and they were both awful. I would not recommend it at all. If you didn’t get the S8 the only other one I would say would be the Saros 10 (not the R though). I like the mopping on them far better than the spinning mops. I think the sonic mopping just cleans better. And I have 5 dogs, a cat and live in a dusty, desert area so I put them through the test.

Basically, if you want the best vacuum and obstacle avoidance, you will want one of the top bots! Currently the top dogs are the Saros 10 / Saros 10R and last years models the S8 MaxV Ultra and the Qrevo Egde / Curve. We mop A L O T and like, besides emptying the dirty water tank daily / every second day and refilling daily / every second day, i only have to do "deep maintenance" which involves washing the water filter (its hard plastic so no drying time) and washing underneat it and the smaller mop with a damp cloth, and thats for someone who does the deep+ program once a week. If you just do regular vac & mop, depending on how big of a house you have, and the program you use, you wont need to refill the water tank more than like every 3 days realistically, and it only takes like 30 seconds to do so! Feel free to DM me if you have more questions or just ask them here :)

I have used the Saros 10R for about 2 months now. This is my first robot vacuum so I don’t have anything to compare to, but it has exceeded every single expectation I had prior to the purchase. I live with my husband and 2 cats in a 3BR apartment, hard wood floor, no carpets, 2-3 small mats. The Saros sucks up about 95% of litter that the cats drag from their litter box, all of my shedded long hair 😪 and balls of hairs from the cats. The Duo-Divide brush has no tangling so far. The mopping leaves no dry mark, the detergent smells faintly floral-ish. As for obstacle avoidance, I was debating buying Roborock due to the bad reviews about its avoidance ability, but the Saros avoided my cables and other obstacles about 90% of the time. One time it got caught on my hairdryer cable and couldn’t get out so it just automatically went into sleep mode 🤣 Lesson learned is to put all cables to higher ground if possible. Another time one cat broke a small altar candle with a glass jar, the vacuum sucked up all glass shards (about dime-sized) so that was a pleasant surprise, though I did have to pry the shards out from the dustbin since the self-empty function couldn’t push them through into the dustbag. After 2 months of everyday use (vacuum mon-wed-fri on turbo, vacuum then mop tue-thurs-sat, deep clean on sunday), the dock is still clean, no hairs or debris visible. Sensors got cleaned once, no replacement at the moment. Hopefully I didn’t forget anything. My verdict is please get this when it comes out, wherever you are!

For Long haired people and pets, I’d get any Roborock with a duo-divide roller as they tend to handle that for much longer than conventional setups that most vacs use. I’d say the Soros 10R is your machine, but the mova’s are doing well. Very happy with our Qrevo master.

The 10R can detect stains as well and do deep cleaning. The starsight navigation on both robots I’ve owned with starsight have been as good if not better at navigating than any robot I’ve owned with spinning LiDAR. It’s also better at obstacle avoidance. Also, Roborock sees them both as the flagships. They’re just offering them for whatever system you prefer. I think it’s also pretty obvious that starsight is the future. It’s still lidar just solid state lidar. Much less mechanical components to fail as opposed to a spinning lidar that retracts. I have no complaints about my 10R. Best robovac I’ve owned by a long shot.

I've owned a LOT of robots over the years, you get what you pay for. As for Ecovacs, they just arent anywhere near as good as the price reflects. They constantly lose their map, need to locate so frequently there's actually a button to do it in the app, the app isn't nearly as good as the other high end brands, and they break constantly. My Deebot T8+ had 3 separate drive wheel failures within a year. When the final one died 2 weeks out of warranty they told me tough luck, and wouldn't even sell me the part so I could fix it myself "for my safety" they said 🙄 Currently own a Roborock Q Revo Curv which is fantastic, The self lifting chassis means it basically never ever gets stuck because it'll climb is way out of trouble. I plan on getting the Saros 10R next, which is basically the same as the Curv but with: hotter water (and now has hot water on board the robot), can leave the mops in the dock, more powerful, detergent dispenser, newer and better navigation and obstacle avoidance with no lidar tower on top so it can get under low furniture better. The Roller mop will be the future, but currently the only robots that have one are inferior in many ways to their competitors. So I'm waiting on that one

I bought a Roborock Saros 10R when they released and it was decent. I liked a lot of things about it, but it wasn’t great at mopping. Left streaks everywhere on my laminate. It ended up screwing up so I returned it. I ended up trying the MOVA P10 Pro after seeing all the glowing reviews on it and I’m telling you, IT’S AMAZING!! It honestly cleans better than the Saros did and it still fits under my couch for cleaning and stuff. Seriously, for $500, which it is on sale almost all the time, it is an absolute no brainer! I could buy one of these for every floor, have amazing cleaning and convenience and still save $600 over the Saros. Zero regrets here

There's trade offs to anything you buy. I disagree the S1 Pro is a nightmare for maintenance. I clean it once a week like everything else. It's fine. Here's how to clean it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFVwWhZluRQ&t=213s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFVwWhZluRQ&t=213s) It's a poor vacuum performer, but so is the 10R compared to previous models. How much of your home is carpet? You can switch out its brush roll for the Eufy E20 brush to improve it. However, the biggest problem with the S1 Pro is it's been out for more than a year and it's getting long in the tooth. You'd be paying for old tech at this point. There's some new models coming this fall from Mova, Dreame and Narwal that have rollers. It may be worth the wait to see if there's one with better cleaning performance for carpeted areas.

I can tell you based on my personal experience. I bought the X50 Ultra and since day 1 had issues, especially climbing threshold and malfunctioning. Since then, 2 weeks ago, I have been trying to return for a full refund, and it's been a nightmare dealing with their customer service ( it is horrendous). Please note I ordered this product from the DREAME website with a pre-sale coupon. Meanwhile, I am dealing with this, I bought ( Amazon) the Roborock Saros 10R and it is a game-changer, it's been 3 days now owning this robot and no issues at all, I find it smarter than X50. My best advice, when ordering make sure to do it from a major retailer, it would be smooth if you have to return the product. Good luck.

Depends on use. For me, it being able to pick up pet hair effectively is extremely important. Also, you’re never going to get rid of vacuums. There are plenty of places the robots can’t get into, but vacuuming the hard to reach places take little time and is just requiree every once in a while. Only the open spaces where you walk is important to keep as clean as possible. Got a robot vacuum because I just don’t have the energy to vacuum often enough. Cat litter and pet hair builds up insanely fast everywhere and my rug gets frustratingly difficult to clean if you wait even a week. Most of the time is spent cleaning pet hair. I wish it could also clean other things of pet hair instead of just the floor but it’s great to not have to step on cat litter and get hair under my feet all the time. Also nice because I have very mild cat dander allergy, this definitely removes a fair bit of dander regularly. I’m thinking of selling my big vacuum (not the stick type) and buy a stick vacuum. Actually bought a dyson several years ago thinking it would make it easier to just get off the wall and clean more often but turns out I’m too lazy. But I still need to clean hard to reach places and the big, chunky vacuum is harder to use and takes more place than a stick vacuum for that.

There is unfortunately no "best" but rather a "best at [insert feature]". However, it seems to me that brand-wise, Roborock and Dreame's flagships (Saros 10/10R; X50 Ultra, respectively) are most consistently mentioned across different testers when looking for the feature-wise and "overall" best. Comparing all the features of the best models just last week, Roborock Saros 10R looked most well-rounded (good or excellent across all categories, some outstanding features) plus most suitable for our home (pets). I suggest you repost this in the roborock subreddit for more replies and experiences with these models. This sub tends to favour brands other than roborock, even though I don't know why. That said, with your main priorities, I would not consider buying the S8, as the saros10r / qrevo curv offer a better anti-tangle brush and thus less maintenance. Saros 10r is worth buying if you truly need perfect obstacle avoidance, don't want the LiDAR and have furniture that it can fit under while the curv can't. edit: formatting

That’s great to hear that you think so, because I couldn’t resist either and ordered the Saros 10R on Thursday :-D. It arrived Friday morning. My first impression – very nice design and solid build quality (especially for a Chinese device). The second thing that surprised me was the lack of even a sample of detergent in the box, so I immediately ordered a 1-liter bottle (which arrived Saturday at a parcel locker). But I went away for the weekend and only got back last night, so I haven’t really had the chance to play with it yet. The only thing I did was start a full vacuum and mop run of the whole apartment on Friday before leaving, without bothering to check for any objects lying around – and unfortunately, about 20 minutes later I got a notification from the app saying one of the mop pads had fallen off and the wheels were stuck. It turned out the robot had gotten tangled in the power cable of an electric baby rocker. When I came back yesterday, the battery was completely drained, so the first cleaning experience was really poor. But last night I did a full vacuum and mop again, and so far it's OK. The only thing that puzzles me is why it marked the edge of my large rug in the living room, and when I run a manual vacuum-only job for that room, it still refuses to go on the rug and clean it. I’ve looked through the options, edited furniture settings, etc., but I can’t figure it out.

I have two German shepherds and a pitbull that both shed. No carpet in my house, just lvp fwiw. I recently returned my first robot vacuum purchase (an ecovacs t50 max pro Omni), which admittedly did do a good job of getting up the fur, but also sucked up literally anything in its path because its object avoidance was god awful. The final straw was a float switch or something malfunctioning and its base station barfing up dirty mop water all over my floor. Its replacement is a saros 10r. It does as good if not better of a job at getting the fur up on a lower power setting, so it’s much quieter. Also, its map allows you to tell it where there are pet bowls and pet beds and it will ramp up the suction just around those areas. And the object avoidance is fantastic. It got stuck a single time trying to get into my bathroom where there’s a bit of a jump up onto the tile. Has sucked up 0 cords. Got stuck on 0 flip flops. And had shit mop water onto my floor 0 times. I would highly recommend the saros 10r

I’m not going to be the one to dissuade you from buying top tier because I don’t think it’s fair to make value judgments about someone I don’t know based on how they spend their money. You are allowed to make whatever consumer-related decisions you wish as it’s your business and no one else’s. I wanted to also speak up for the Saros 10R, though, and to tell you I’m absolutely thrilled with mine — it arrived this past weekend (I’m also in NorCal). It’s a superior machine — I’m newly arrived from the Roomba camp, very happy to have finally made the switch, and owned their top-of-the-line model previously. The Saros 10R blows all of their technology out of the water, just like everyone said in pretty much every corner of the internet — they were right, and I’m really shocked at what a dramatically better machine this is by comparison. You won’t regret the purchase - I sure didn’t; I’m absolutely thrilled with it and don’t have any remorse at spending that kind of cash on this machine for a second — my technology spending rule has always been to buy the best you can possibly afford to future-proof yourself for as long as possible (which isn’t always very long these days). I have a pretty tidy home (2b/ba 1,200 sq. ft. city apartment with wood, tile, and low-to-medium-pile area rugs with two small pets, no children, and one husband) and it’s exceedingly rare for there to be errant objects littered about like socks etc., but I still love the idea of object avoidance when appropriate and in all the testing I saw in reviews of this feature it seems the 10R will be stellar if it encounters anything. It has already correctly identified cord clusters along walls and other such things, and will do with them what I tell it via the fantastic app. It cleans so well I’m actually questioning whether my floors were ever clean at all before I switched to Roborock. The most surprising feature for me was how much quieter my 10R is compared to my previous Roomba (I owned their J9+ Combo), even when mopping — I almost can’t tell if it’s actually doing anything compared to the pretty noisy activity of my Roomba. I’m pleasantly and mildly shocked at the difference. In summation, I think you should go for it, get the 10R, and wave happily at any haters. 😉

I wanted to share some differences between the 10R and Edge/Curve on carpet. I noticed the Edge was constantly getting stuck on our dogs toys in the bedroom, but other rooms it never had issues. The only difference was the rug in our bedroom. I setup a testing area to highlight the performance of the 10R over the Edge with object detection on rugs. As you can see, there's a huge difference between the two units; the 10R clearly has better object recognition, but the cleanup is not as good as the Edge.

StarSight has better resolution, I find it difficult to believe Roborock was forced to use solid state vs analog for navigation. The new system is leaps and bounds ahead of the older tech. The Z70 and 10R are essentially the same, just one obvious difference. Not sure how the Z70 can be the “best” while the 10R is third place. IMO, all three of these units are flagship, they offer different feature sets based on customers needs and wants. Roborock doesn’t do the best job offering a clear direction with their product lineup, too many SKUS and small differences between them. I personally own a 10R, I had a few other high end Roborock units over the past two months. There’s a clear difference between 360 LiDAR and StarSight, the old system was pretty darn good, it was confident and quick, but mirrors, and baby gates were not detected due to the technologies limitations. The new StarSight with the most recent firmware is incredible, it sees and reacts to everything, mirrors and gates are no problem, also, the system appears to learn, it took 3 attempts to use ramps into and out of our bedroom, the other units never acted this way. At the end of the day, navigation is king. From my opinion, StarSight is a flagship feature, because of this, I suggest anyone buying a 1,600+ device, make sure it has StarSight. Don’t trust any navigation issue comments posted before last week, the new firmware is darn near perfect.

The Roborock Saros 10R is what I use, it’s got a gap in the middle of the roller to prevent tangling of hair. Otherwise you’re having to constantly maintain it to prevent the hair from getting jammed everywhere. It also mops and self empty’s which is nice though the mopping is underwhelming. Works great for my 2 huskies.

I got mine today and have been impressed but have more tests to run. When I unboxed it this morning, there was a firmware update from 2.25.20 to 2.26.26. Now, just a few hours later, another firmware update launched 2.35.58. Seems like a big jump, so maybe it will fix a bunch of issues. I believe the object avoidance will surpass the turret style. Remember, this is the same system they are putting into their flagship bot.

I have had excellent results with Roborock S8s and Saros 10R with Home Assistant. All of my Roborock app routines were fully integrated into Home Assistant as entities. Now I can run every aspect right from Home Assistant, and by extension, through Alexa using voice routines. This is fantastic! I have used other robovacs with home assistant, but I have never had them integrate so well! Since Roborock robovacs are the only thing I am qualified to talk about, I will make some suggestions. I, personally, would avoid automatically detangling roller brushes. They do detangle very well. But they do not clean as well, especially with lots of pet hair and on rugs and carpets. The dual roller systems take a few minutes to maintain, but they clean much, much better than the single split roller systems that auto detangle. Personally, I would seriously consider something along the lines of a Roborock Qrevo Master. It is a great compromise between dock automation and good vacuuming ability. It has the dual rollers systems for excellent vacuuming, a mostly automated dock, but it does make some compromises. It is a bit more than you want to spend. But it is an excellent system that offers a lot at a much lower price than other models.

You will be impressed with what a robovac can do. They cannot clean up a really big mess, but they can sure do a lot! I count on ours to handle 90-95% of our routine floor cleaning tasks. For everything they cannot do, I use a cordless stick vacuum and a cheap steam mop. I use the stick vacuum here and there because of cat hair and litter, but I doubt I use it more than about 10 minutes per week. I use the steam mop for about 10 minutes a month to go around the edges of rooms, and the edges of rugs, on our hard floors that the robot vacuum cleaners can't reliably hit. I also use the steam mop for the very occasional larger mess. You are very fortunate that you have hard floors. Almost any robovac will do at least a decent job vacuuming hard floors. Where they really face a challenge is with trampled in hair, dirt, dust and debris on carpets and rugs. Only a very few robovacs do a decent job under these conditions. Mopping will be a bigger issue for you. Everyone has their favorite robovac and no one can make this decision for you. Every robovac has strengths and weaknesses. No robovac is perfect, and no robovac will provide miracles no matter how fancy and expensive it is. Expectations need to be managed before one buys or one will end up disappointed and upset. The fanciest robovacs are not always the best for a specific purpose. We have a pair of Roborock S8 base models with charging docks only (US$350) and a very fancy Roborock Saros 10R (US$1500). The 10R is a mediocre vacuum cleaner on rugs and carpets, but it is an excellent mopping machine with a fully automated dock that does almost anything. The S8s are fantastic vacuum cleaners even though they only have 6000Pa of suction power. They get and keep our rugs, carpets and hard floors very clean three times per week, but I do have to spend about two minutes on each of them with maintainenance each time I use them. With two S8s each vacuuming half of our house, and the 10R doing all the mopping three times per week, our house is always clean and ready for visitors with minimal effort on my part. After all of that, I can easily make due without my Saros 10R. But, losing one of our S8s would be tragic!!! I hope this is helpful! I cannot provide answers, only lots of things to consider. Choose carefully! I will add that our two S8s end up cleaning much better and more thoroughly than either our Shark Professional or our Dyson upright vacuum cleaners do. But it took me quite a long time to figure out how to use them for their advantages and compensate for their weaknesses.

We have a pair of base model S8s ($350 each) with only charging docks, and a Saros 10R ($1500). I can easily live without my Saros 10R. Losing an S8 would be tragic! The 10R is very impressive and very automated in every area except vacuuming on rugs and carpets. It is a mediocre vacuum cleaner at best. It does not vacuum any better than a cheap Home Depot off-the-shelf model. The S8s are vacuuming monsters on rugs and carpets. Our house gets lots of foot traffic, there are people with long hair and two cats and a litter box. Everything gets trampled into the rugs and carpets. The S8s were life changers. The Saros 10R has become a very fancy and expensive mop. If you only have hard floors, almost anything will work and do a decent job. This gives you much more flexibility. I would recommend a compromise since you might end up with carpets. The Qrevo Master ($800) offers the spinning mops of more modern and fancier models. It has a very automated but not super automated dock that does most things but not all of them. More importantly, it keeps the dual roller vacuum module of the S8s for excellent vacuuming. The down side is that you will have to spend about two minutes doing some very easy maintenance on it occasionally. It also does not have the extending side mops and it isn't as slim at a Saros. I really wish I would have purchased a Qrevo Master over our Saros 10R. Our neighbor has one and it is fantastic. It would have served my needs much better than the Saros 10R and I could have saved $700. Expectations are the biggest issues new robovac owners have to overcome. For $1500 we want a miracle! No robovac can do everything, none of them are perfect, and there are no miracles. A $350 robovac will change your life completely. The extra $1150 will just get you a little bit more. But a fancier, automated robovac will not necessarily clean better. All robovacs can do is handle about 90% of your floor cleaning needs. They cannot do everything no matter how fancy and how expensive they are. But 90% is a lot and you will be amazed at the results! There is also a learning curve. One has to learn how to use them for their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. Because of all of this, I always suggest people start with a $350 model. They are truly amazing! Save the $1150 for the next robovac once more improvements have been made in a year or two and you know how to use one and what to expect. All robovacs, no matter how fancy and how expensive, are very primitive machines. They look and feel complex. But they just are not. Lastly, the only reason to consider the fancy new navigation systems is if there might be pet waste in your home. If a robovac cannot avoid this mess, it will become a disaster. Lidar navigation is really good. The fancier, newer systems are very slightly better at obstacle avoidance, but they are not perfect either. Lidar works great and is very, very reliable. Unless you have to worry about pet waste or similar messes, there is no reason to even consider a navigation system beyond lidar. There is no additional benefit. I hope this helps!

I use, repair and maintain all sorts of robot vacuum cleaners from many different manufacturers. I have owned only Roborocks, including the S7 that we wore out completely, and our current lineup including a pair of basic S8s (charging dock only, no fancy features) and a Saros 10R. I am very familiar with robovacs! I am of the opinion that the S8 vacuums rugs and carpets much, much better than any other robovac in my experience. Hard floors and mopping are basic and relatively easy, and most robovacs do a decent job with them. Our home has a lot of foot traffic, pets and people with long hair. My basic test for how well a robovac vacuums is to have one vacuum our three carpeted bedrooms on its maximum suction setting. When it is done, I send in one of our S8s to cover the same area using its maximum suction setting. Whichever robovac goes first should pick up more dust, dirt and hair, right? Our S8s consistently come back with four to five times the amount of debris than any other robovac I have ever sent in first, including our fancy new Saros 10R. I have even sent in one S8 first, followed by the second one. The first one will bring back a full dustbin. The second one will be almost empty. There are many other similar situations that I have observed but do not test regularly, so I cannot really use them as any kind of fair comparison, but, observationally, the S8 seems to very consistently out perform any other robovac when it comes to cleaning rugs and carpets. Obviously, there are many other areas that are important when it comes to robovacs, such as navigation, mopping etc. I am not looking at these areas at the moment. As a vacuum cleaner only, our S8s out perform our Saros 10R so significantly and consistently, that I really only use our Saros 10R to vacuum under stuff that the S8s do not fit under. Otherwise, the Saros 10R is a mopping machine in our home. I have even consulted Roborock customer service extensively in order to find ways to improve its vacuuming ability without success. I am curious if anyone else has made any meaningful comparison between the S8s vacuuming abilility and any other robovacs. It is my gold standard for rugs and carpets right now, and nothing else has been able to come anywhere close it it. With how quickly our home gets dirty and full of hair, I run our robovacs daily through our entire house. Especially our S8s have very high milage on them. Has anyone seen any kind of robovac that out performs the S8s vacuuming ability in any kind of meaningful real-world test?

I have not had a chance to try a Saros 10. But our Saros 10R has 20,000 Pa of suction compared to the 6,000 Pa of suction in the S8s. The S8s still vacuum carpets and rugs much, much better. I am not convinced that stronger suction necessarily means better vacuuming ability. I think the dual rollers brushes agitate carpets and rugs better than the single split roller on the Saros models leading to better dirt, dust and hair pickup.

I am completely unfamiliar with the model you are looking at. But I hope I can still help a little bit. Don't look at pascals at all. They are completely meaningless. The ability to create a vacuum doesn't help much. The important thing is airflow. That is what moves debris kicked up by the rollers through the vacuum channel into the dustbin. No one gives airflow information. If the robovac has a single split auto detangling roller, it has worse airflow than much older models with full length single or double rollers. This is only a generalization. I am not talking about specific models. And it is generally true for any robovac by any manufacturer. My personal example of this is that my older, charging base only $350 S8 with 6000Pa of suction power significantly outperforms my $1500 Saros 10R with 18500Pa of suction power when it comes to pure vacuuming capability. I live in the USA. I don't know what things cost in Europe. But I would consider a base model S7 or S8 with only a charging dock over significantly newer, fancier models if vacuuming cleaning ability is the only factor. They also mop well, but there are better mopping models out there. They just quickly sacrifice vacuuming ability. I hope this helps get you a little bit further!

Start compromising quickly. The "best robot vacuum cleaner" doesn't exist no matter what the reviews and marketing hype tell you. The manufacturers and reviewers test robot vacuum cleaners in about the same way. They sprinkle hair, cereal, coffee and other things loosely on various surfaces and have the test robot suck it up. This stuff is all superficial. A real test would be to let this stuff sit for days and get well trampled into rugs and carpets. Almost no one has a test like this. But this is what homes are like. The first thing someone shopping for a robovac desperately needs to do is manage expectations. No matter how fancy and expensive a robovac is, it isn't a miracle solution, it isn't perfect and it still requires maintenance. The chances that you will need customer service, repair or replacement are nowhere near zero. Even a $1500 robovac is a very primitive device made with lots of cheap, plastic, off-the-shelf parts made by other manufacturers. They may look fancy, but they are not. A robovac cannot do everything. They can handle about 90-95% of a person's floor cleaning needs, but there will still be stuff one has to do the old fashioned way. They will also not do everything well. And there will be maintenance, even with the fancy expensive models. The fancier a robovac is, the more stuff needs to be crammed into the same space. This means a sacrifice. People buy robovacs because of fancy features and high pascal suction power numbers. Not because of proven cleaning power. This is very important to realize. The fancier and more expensive a robovac is, the worse it vacuum cleans. This is common to all the big brands right now. All of them are significantly outperformed by older, simpler, cheaper models when it comes to vacuuming only. This does not apply in any other area. High pascal numbers are meaningless. This is just a measure of the device's ability to create a vacuum. It is not a measure of airflow through the device. Airflow is the really important factor that moves debris kicked up by the rollers through the vacuum channel into the dustbin. Our $350 charging dock only S8 has 6000Pa of suction power. Our $1500 Saros 10R has 18500Pa of suction power. The Saros 10R was such a disappointment as a vacuum cleaner that it has become a super fancy, very expensive mop, and we bought a second $350 S8 so that each of the two could vacuum half of our house. The cheap S8 is a vacuuming beast. The 10R sucks as a vacuum cleaner - pardon the pun. I would like to add that our Saros 10R is actually our second one. The first one failed after six weeks and Roborock replaced it with a new one. Both performed similarly. After all of that, I have to add that the Saros 10R is really impressive in every other way besides vacuuming. It is a terrible vacuum cleaner, but it is a great mop that can do other cool things too Were you to buy a good, inexpensive, simple, charging dock only S8 for $350, it would change your life! You will be amazed at how well it cleans. Spending an extra $1000+ will get you some more, but it really isn't much more. This means you are spending $1000+ to save yourself less than ten minutes of effort every week. And those $1000+ will get you worse vacuuming cleaning ability. For about every two hours of floor cleaning each of my S8s performs in our house, I have to spend about two minutes with each of them in order to maintain them. This is what an extra $1000+ will partially eliminate. The new, fancy robovacs do perform better at mopping than the older ones do. Auto mop cleaning and drying in the dock is fantastic. Only having to deal with filling a clean water tank and emptying a dirty water tank is also great - until they start to stink and you have a new problem to deal with. The auto floor cleaning solution dispenser is wonderful too. The bottom line for me is that I can easily live without our $1500 Saros 10R. It is a very cool luxury. But our two $350 S8s are an absolute necessity in our life and I would not select any $1000+ robovac over them made by any manufacturer. I repair robovacs as a side job and have worked on lots of them. I test all sorts of different robovacs in our home all the time. I hope this helps! Choosing one's first robovac is tough!

Your S8 is a vacuuming champ, especially using its higher suction settings. It is very hard to find a robovac that will outperform it on rugs and carpets. I am not aware of any that do so at this time. The 10R is very cool, but it is a very average vacuum cleaner at best. We have two charging dock only S8s and a 10R. The S8s vacuum clean much, much better than the 10R on rugs and carpets. Everything else about the 10R is fantastic. But as a vacuum cleaner is is about as good as a bargain brand cheap robovac. Almost any robovac can do an acceptable job vacuuming hard floors. If your S8 is not doing a good job vacuuming rugs and carpets using its higher suction settings, there is definitely something wrong with it. Have you kept up your maintenance and changed the rollers as recommended? Is it's dustbin empty when you start cleaning? Is your exhaust port clogged? Perhaps you need a new vacuuming blower. These are available on Amazon and are fairly easy to replace.

We have a 10R and a pair of base model, charging dock only S8s. Compared to our $350 S8s, our 10R sucks at vacuuming. It is so bad that I do all of our vacuuming with the S8s and only use the 10R as a mop. What you described with the air flow coming out of the exhaust vents is exactly what I experienced. The S8 moves a lot of air. The 10R feels much, much weaker. My standard robovac test is very simple. I have a test robovac vacuum our three carpeted bedrooms on its maximum vacuum suction setting. Immediately afterwards, I send in an S8 using its maximum vacuum settings. Then I compare the results in the dustbin. Whenever I do this with our 10R, I do find stuff in the dustbin, but there is never all that much. When the S8 goes through right afterwards, it's dustbin is completely full. The S8 that recleaned an already cleaned (by the 10R) room picks up five times as much stuff. I have tried this over and over again with the same results.

Pascal suction numbers are meaningless marketing hype. The ability to create a vacuum does not move debris into the dustbin, airflow does. The rollers kick up debris, and airflow moves it through the vacuum channel into the dustbin. No manufacturer provides information on airflow. If vacuuming ability is one of the most important features of a robovac for you, especially on rugs and carpets, avoid any models that use the modern and very popular split single auto detangling rollers. They do not kick up debris as well as the older style rubber solid single or double counter rotating rollers. And they do not provide good airflow like the older style rollers and vacuuming modules do. This is the case with all robovacs with split single auto detangling rollers made by any manufacturer. The more features that get added to a robovac, and the thinner it gets, the more sacrifices have to be made. What looses out is vacuuming ability. Our Saros 10R is an amazing machine, but it is a mediocre vacuum cleaner at best. Everything else about it is fantastic, and it mops well too! There are now two kinds of docks. There are ones that connect to your plumbing and ones that don't. They each only function in one way. You cannot use the kind of dock that connects to your plumbing without connecting it to your plumbing. And you cannot connect a standalone dock to your plumbing. If you want a very cool machine that mops well but sucks at vacuuming, get a Saros or other similar robovac from another manufacturer. Your friends will be impressed but your home will remain dirty. If you want a good robovac that vacuums very, very well, mops as well as the Saros 10R, but isn't quite as fancy (it is still pretty darn fancy!) and will require about two minutes of maintenance per week, check out a Qrevo Master. You will be very pleased with it and save at least $700. While you are shopping around, make sure you get at least one spare air filter for whatever model you choose. Use two of them in rotation. Every week, remove the dirty one from the robovac's dustbin and rinse it under hot tap water. Sometimes a small nylon brush with bristles that are not too stiff but also not too soft helps. Set your wet air filter aside to dry for at least 48 hours. Install a clean, completely dry air filter back into the dustbin, put the robovac on the ground and press the home button (it has a little house shaped symbol on it). Then the robovac will automatically return to its dock. The following week you reverse the two air filters again. I hope this helps! Good luck with your choice!

Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of researching the Roborock lineup — specifically the Saros 10, 10R, and Z70. I’ve ended up going with the Saros 10, but I’m still super confused about all the conflicting reviews and tests, so I thought I’d share what I’ve found and maybe get your thoughts. For some context: (I feel like we can't test these robots as soon as they come out maybe wait abit get firmware done and a lot of other stuff because vacuum wars's testing was completely out of what other reviewers say) but we should come together as a community to see how we can minimise these inconsistencies. • I watched The French Glow, who loved the Saros 10. • Just a Dad Reviews also preferred the 10 over the 10R. • A few European robot vacuum websites had test results showing the 10 outperforming the 10R too. • Jamie Andrews also had the 10 doing better in cleaning tests, but at the end he said he’d personally go for the 10R, purely because he believes Roborock is moving forward with **Starsight Navigation**, since it’s in the Z70 (**this is incorrect**). • Meanwhile, Vacuum Wars had the Saros 10 performing terribly, which really threw me off. Honestly, based on the majority of the reviews I’ve seen, I think that test might need a redo. Now here’s where it gets interesting. I actually work in retail, and we recently had a couple of Roborock reps come in to train us, put stickers on the models, and give us the inside scoop. I straight-up asked him: “How would you rank the Z70, 10, and 10R right now?” His answer was: **Z70 > 10 > 10R** I then asked, “Why did you guys fit the Z70 with spinning mops and **Starsight** if it’s meant to be the best? Why not vibration and retractable LiDAR?” He explained: • LiDAR and mop arms were messing with navigation when the arm was up, as it’s a spinning light sensor, and it caused issues in their internal testing. They had to save space, so they stuck with **Starsight** on the Z70. • They didn’t go with vibration mopping due to weight and space constraints. • What I found interesting is that the Z70 doesn’t use Duo Divide, and they even said that Duo Divide was the better roller — so there are definitely trade-offs. • Overall, he said it was due to weight and space. • But in terms of all-round performance, he said the Saros 10 is currently the best cleaner overall. I even asked him why the 10 is better than the 10R. The 10 is technically the newer one as they have been out in China and there is a reason why they reverted back to lidar which he didn’t tell me but he said it has more suction power, a slightly better dock, and better mopping because it can put about 1kg of pressure on the floor when there are tough stains. It even has a little bumper on the top so when it’s under furniture and bumps into things, it knows and doesn’t scratch itself. I also told him, “Doesn’t the 10R detect more stuff?” and he just said no — same amount. Both use the same artificial intelligence trained on the same things to detect stuff. Also straight up told me the only thing the 10r does better then the 10 is that its dock is a lot easier to clean. But he also said you couldn’t go wrong with any of the Roborocks in their lineup — anything over 7000 Pascals will get the job done. He even told me that Pascals are pretty much just marketing. Also, something I didn’t know before: the “R” in 10R stands for the QRevo mop system, not “Roborock” or anything like that. As for me, I’m not too worried about “future-proofing” with **Starsight**. I usually upgrade my robot vac every 3 years, as I get product insurance on everything. So after the manufacturer’s warranty, I just put water in my robot and get the newest version out at that moment. I care more about current cleaning performance than long-term tech shifts. **TL;DR:** • Multiple reviewers (French Glow, Just a Dad, Jamie Andrews, etc.) rate the Saros 10 as better than the 10R. • Vacuum Wars says otherwise, but they seem like the outlier. • Roborock rep ranks Z70 > 10 > 10R, but admits there were trade-offs in the Z70 design. • I chose the Saros 10 — best cleaning performance today, and I upgrade every few years anyway. I hoped this helped pick your robot. 😀

10R does not clean better than the 10 since the latter can put more down pressure hence better with though stains. 10R dock much more uncomplicated to clean as any other rotating system. The S8 maxv is quite expensive tbf at that price, I wouldn’t buy it for more than 900-1k probably. And 10 at that price also not worth it. Are you able to get the Curv or edge or even the QRevo master ? If it has to be absolutely those two then I would go for the 10 because it has the duo divide roller, lifts the side brush which is also tangle free, new robot and dock design, but I reckon prob most people would/should get the maxv

The only thing you mentioned about “your situation” is the type of flooring you have. Have you got kids? Or long hair people in the house or dogs or none of that? Are you messy are you tidy? I mean do you need the robot to be thorough with the carpet or with mopping or with obstacles avoidance. That’s what someone should say about their “situation”. The S1 pro is a nightmare for maintenance and vacuuming and hair tangling is very poor. Mopping is excellent. And the OA is pretty good. The 10R is a good all around and unless you have dogs with muddy paws every day or walk with shoes inside the house then I hardly doubt you will notice any difference in mopping between eufy and this one. Another alternative is the QRevo Edge or Curv or CurvX.

Not to mention all the other improvements (better object detection, spinning mops, leaves mops in the base station when doing vacuum only, better vacuuming (I have 3 cats and the floor is spotless). For me it's not leaving any streaks or excess water on the floor, so I'm really happy with it.

I bought both of them very recently. Either my X9 is faulty or it’s just meant to be that way. The battery runs out quickly. It did like 2 rooms and had to go charge again and again. My 10R did the entire same floor plan on highest settings and still had 44% battery left to spare. Some ppl here said it needs to cycle the battery a few times before it works properly. However I did do that and still no changes and that seems like a ridiculous thing to do for it to work properly, like it should work how it’s supposed to from the beginning. I also don’t like the Ecovacs app. Roborock app is so much more polished. Idk if the roller mop is cleaning better or not, it was leaving a lot of wet surface on the default settings, but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. (I have PVC flooring). Another thing is I have a threshold between the add-on “garage” and my main house, the X9 could not get over it and the 10R did it so easily. So now I only need one robot downstairs instead of two seperate ones. I also like that the R10 leaves the mops behind when doing vacuum only. And that’s another thing. X9 can’t do mop only. Sometimes I just want my robot to mop instead of vac&mop. For me R10 is so much better in all ways. I should’ve stocked to Roborock from the beginning, I have no clue why vacuumwars is praising Ecovacs so much. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I tried Ecovacs X9 Omni Pro and I think my robot was faulty. I tried contacting support directly when I received it, I have yet to receive an answer (Europe/Netherlands). I have returned it back to Amazon instead.

Roborock Saros 10R can cross this. Had Ecovacs X9 Omni Pro couldn’t. Don’t know about the Dreame. https://preview.redd.it/l6f5p52iqr5f1.png?width=1338&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bca1164d2ae9a0e92fb75be89b4b7f8bf211400
