I have an S50 as well!! Had to replace the battery, and some cleaning accessories (which is expected from time to time). I'm looking forward to buying a new one, to do some company to the first!
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->A little late for this but I would go with the V50. Any model can have problems. I haven't tried the curvx but I tried 3 regular curvs and had to send them back. They dragged the mops when going back to the base. I haven't seen a lot of people mention that so maybe I was unlucky, 3 times in a row. The vacuum performance wasn't great either. I always vacuum before mop and there would be lots of pet hair in the base after mopping. I have the p50 and love it. Got it on sale for 799. I did have to send the first one back due to water pump issues, started in less than a week, but the one I have now has been going 2 months with no problem. Hardly, if any hair in the base after mopping. And my dust bag was full the first month. We have 3 highly shedding dogs and the roborock qrevo master does well but evidently the p50 does better. The roborock bag wouldn't be full the first month like this. And I have generic bags that work that are a lot less so it won't get so expensive to change. I have had no front wheel problem at all. Every manufacture can have problems. But if you need to deal with the warranty every time I have emailed Mova with a question or when the water pump went bad, they got back to me the same day almost every time but always within 24hrs. And not during the middle of the night like Roborock then you have to wait until the next night to email you back. Roborock was never a problem with me for warranty work it's just the process takes a while due to the response email coming in the middle of the night. Sorry so long but hope this helps.
r/RobotVacuums • If you had to choose between the Roborock QRevo CurvX & Mova V50 ultra, which would be your pick and why? ->Roborock for sure . Mine is nearly 6 years old and only just recently did we get the poor thing some spare parts. It’s so solid and reliable , and the software performs brilliantly to navigate hazards. S50 was AUD469 in Nov 2018 (Parts were the under carriage, brush and roller , although only the former really needed it)
r/homeautomation • What are the best robot vacuums on a budget? ->S50 of ours has done hard time and then. We didn’t even give the poor bugger a replacement lower cage when the long spar broke and we’d just badly glued it. More than 3 years cleaning our floor daily and it’s still working great. We got spare parts recently but it was only the cage and the filter that needed replacing, the brushes weren’t too frayed. The filter was still usable but just getting a little clogged with fine dust, even after it was vacuumed. Just having the daily level of dust removed reliably is so nice in bare feet.
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->Yep our poor suffering S50 roborock was still on its first set of everything 3 years into service until recently and never skipped a beat. The feeling of bare feet on floors that are always cleared of dust once a day is worth it alone. The software is very impressive too. From what I understand Roborock was founded by two ex Husqvuana (or was it Roomba) engineers. I am dying to automate this thing and add smarts for extra services - like mounting a camera , rpi etc for ai vision
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->Our roborock s50 is 7ish years old if memory serves. Just over 1500 cleanups. Runa about every other day give or take. 45k m2 cleaned. Jist regular maintenance of main side brush, filters. 1 broken dirt tray, but that was due to me dropping it.
r/BuyItForLife • For a robot vacuum, how long is considered BIFL? ->Can’t recommend S50 enough. Only changed some wearing parts. If my S50 dies some day I’ll get Roborock with automatic emptying. And it has to clean apartment with dog like this. There is lots of loose hair after washes. https://preview.redd.it/u4sdzji0o8ed1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e95b06705845b9d20a2f8f280d975dcea9d46eb
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->Roborock s50, if I had to buy new one I would buy one which empties itself automatically
r/samoyeds • Wich robot vacuum cleaner do you use for the fur ->Longtime roborock fan here. We still have out xiaomi mi, s50 and have ordered a Q revo which is on the way (black friday sale @899). The parts and consumables are cheap as chips on aliexpress. We've replaced the fan for $17, and batteries which last really well. One thing to consider regardless of what brand=model you get is to get them on an isolated wifi vlan with firewall eyles setup to prevent them snooping on your network. We have a network setup where all the untrusted network devices are connected. They can all connect to the internet and thats it. I call it our prison colony.
r/RobotVacuums • It's December! Time to choose the robot vacuum of 2024! ->Hi, Had Roborocok S50 in the past with 2000 Pa, now have Roborock S10R (G30s Ultra China version). I am dissapoint. 20000 Pa is not better than 2000Pa. I thought maybe the problem what I got China version, and China version is not good compare to the one provide to western countries. But i see such problem noticed not only me, and not only for G30s Ultra, Saros 10R is observed same suction problem. It is really sad. I starting to think to skip to other brands. I see ECOVACS DEEBOT X9 PRO Omni can be really promising. If Roborock not stops to fake on numbers for marketing purpose - they will loose fans in near future! Me too.
r/Roborock • Why Pa specs are misleading - my 2,000 Pa S5 outcleans my 22,000 Pa Z70 ->I've had my Roborock S50 since 2019 and it's been absolutely problem-free. It's not, however, particularly brilliant at picking up visible dirt from carpets. Meanwhile I notice that advertised "suction power" in these robovacs has increased massively. My S50 is rated at 2000 Pa, while top of the range models are exceeding 20,000 Pa - must be 10 times as good, right? No, apparently not! I've read that airflow / cfm is a more useful metric, and my S50 is rated at 17 cfm (according to Vacuum Wars). Same as the Roomba 980 from 2015, and actually around the same as most flagship models from 2025. Of course there are many factors which determine effectiveness and cfm is just one, but at least it's something you can objectively measure. If robot vacuums have been in the range of 12-25 cfm for at least 10 years, does that mean that the major improvements have been in the automation fields (self-emptying, mapping, voice controls etc), brush design and mopping? Has vacuum performance reached a plateau, because the form factor limits how powerful you can make the motors? There are so much contradictory reviews out there that I genuinely have no idea what the state of the tech is in 2025.
r/RobotVacuums • Has cleaning performance improved much in the last 10+ years? ->Navigation is going to be the #1 biggest improvement, I expect. But even my old Roborock does that flawlessly. The thing that hasn't changed much is actual power. I wonder if battery improvements will lead to more powerful motors and therefore better suction in future. All these machines have tiny batteries, for some reason (5000-6000 mah - that's like my phone!).
r/RobotVacuums • Has cleaning performance improved much in the last 10+ years? ->I have a cat, no kids and a large house. It is my #1 most used thing. Saturday morning just head out for a coffee with friends and come back to a 90% clean floor without lifting a finger - vacuumed and mopped. After 6 years of service our Roborock s50 died and we replaced it immediately with the newer Roborock QRevo. Not even the latest one, but man what an upgrade to an already good robo vacuum
r/CleaningTips • Is robot vaccum worth it for those without animals that shed a lot ? And just in general for cleaning /mopping floor? ->We’ve had a Roborock S50 running daily since 2018, it’s done a bit over 2000 hours of cleaning. That said in that time I’ve replaced battery, fan motors, LiDAR motor & belt alongside normal consumables like brushes. But it’s easily taken apart and repaired once you get the hang of it and parts are readily available.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Robot Vacuum that Lasts? ->Roborock because of how it maps, you can edit the map, you can program how loud it is, and you can even get ones that have a mop attachment.
