People don't really get these products yet. Think about how much a good vacuum costs. Now add a good mop. Now add the dustbin, a mop bickdt, and a plumbing system to connect it all. Ok, cool. Now add a robot chassis, an integrated LIDAR/camera sensor suite, mapping softeare, obstacle avoidance softeare, general pathfinding, the ability to choose when to mop, the ability to find its base station using radio waves, a mechanism to report issues and maintenance needs, a mechanism to self empty, refill the mop, dry the mop, etc. Now it becomes clear why they are expensive, and why there is such a wide range of feedback about them. Some of them cannot be good because people in some cases are not willing to pay the cost of what it takes to make a decent thing with those requirements. FWIW my Roborock s6 pure is great. I have two rabbits who free roam and you can barely tell when you walk in the room they're in. It used to be a full time job cleaning their space and now the floor just always looks like it did day 1. Awesome product, it's run 96 hours in my house. Drawback is that it has no auto mop features or emptying, so all that is still manual. I just automated it to drive up to my trash can at a designated time to subvert that. Treat buying this thing like getting a dishwasher. I would say it can save an equivalent amount of time. PS- in my experience these devices are a target for mischief making youngsters.
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->If you don't care about mopping, then I would suggest considering a roomba j series. The dual rollers, bin design (reduces filter clogging), dirt detection, and bin sensor for auto empty make it well suited for pet hair. Hair will still accumulate inside of the rubber rollers and require maintenance. VacuumWars recently found that the similar combo 10 max picked up 100% of 2.5 inch hair from carpet, which was much better than many modern flagship models from competitors. I have 3 robovacs (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, Roborock S6 pure) and rate the j5+ highly. I have 270 hours on it so far with no issues
r/RobotVacuums • Looking for budget-friendly recommendations for pet hair ->The comment about robot vacuums only being for small places is probably based on the old random pattern robots. Most robots now map and do well in large houses. It sounds like most mapping robots would work for you, since you don't want mopping, have hardfloors, and no pets. So anything with lidar (prefered) or vslam navigation. Obstacle avoidance might be a useful feature for cords, shoes, toys etc. left on the ground. It might be worth looking into a Eufy L60, iRobot Roomba j series, Roborock Q series, or shark. I'm biased because I have three robot vacs (Roborock S6, Ecovacs x1 omni, and iRobot Roomba j5+ combo) and my roomba j5+ is the only one that is reliable and working at the moment
r/RobotVacuums • I'm searching for my first robot vacuum under a budget! ->I have three robots (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, and a Roborock S6 Pure). When my Roborock had constant issues I looked into durability and longevity as the number 1 criteria and found that almost all comments from owners with high hours (maybe 800+) were either roborock S5s, old random pattern roombas, and i series roombas. I'd recommend an i7+ or j series Roomba (for obstacle avoidance and more reliable dock). They are well suited to hair and heavy use because of the dual rollers, bin design (reduces filter clogging/motor strain), bin sensor for auto empty and dirt detect, modular design (fast replacement parts), part availablity, and reports from owners. VacuumWars also found that cleaning performance of 2.5 inch pet sized hair on carpet was 100%, unlike many modern flagship models. My j5+ was been flawless for 270 hours so far. The only issues I have seen online relate to cleaning of bin sensors and charging contacts. Hopefully this helps
r/RobotVacuums • Most durable Robot Vacuum? ->I know there were a lot of complaints about map stability and having to remap regularly, which makes it difficult to run on a schedule. I picked up an X1 omni from marketplace 6 months ago (only because of the cost), and it's been good. No problems that couldn't be fixed by power cycling. The maps have been completely stable, while my roborock s6 frequently had corrupted maps
r/RobotVacuums • Are Ecovacs robovacs really that bad? ->S6 Pure 2021. Still kicking. Replaced filter and that is all. Looking at the 10r for the self emptying and mopping.
r/RobotVacuums • robot vacs you've used for YEARS ->s6 pure also doesnt do very well with cables its its only weakness, when it finds a cable it rides around over it until the cable is consumed lol it simply doesnt stop for them, smaller cables get rolled up and the vac keeps going. i just taped down some permanent cables that were loose and i also try not to leave cables on the floor
r/Roborock • Which model will avoid cables on floor? ->I have 3 cats in a 1600 sq ft house. Just bought the $500 Roborock from Costco and am so far super happy. I was going to do the next one up, but figured I’d try this first. I had a roomba years ago and this is sooo much better. Life changing actually. Once it dies maybe I’ll get the step up, but so far super happy with this model. Costco also has a decent return policy if anything begins to malfunction.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->After happily using a Roborock S6 for quite a few years in a 600 sqft condo with 1 dog, buying a house, adding 2 additional furry friends(one cat, one more dog), and our S6 dying out with the dreaded “filter blocked or wet” issue(despite my best attempts to rectify it, including a full dismantling), I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade for our new found levels of mess. Our main issues in our fully hard floored home are dog and cat hair, as well as some wonderfully muddy paws that even with our efforts at the threshold to prevent, are sometimes unpreventable(100lb dogs will be 100lb dogs). After lurking in this forum for quite some time, reading countless reviews across multiple platforms, and watching too many YouTube videos, I decided that the no tangle split roller of the Curv along with the reported mopping performance and Roborock navigation system was a no brainer. My floors will be clean! My white kitchen floor will no longer smattered in brown! No more hair balls rolling across the hallway! Rejoice! Woof. We have had this $1400(purchase price) robot roaming our house continuously for 2 months now, and underwhelmed doesn’t describe how I feel writing this today and watching it. My biggest qualm: the mop quality is garbage. With the “official Roborock multi surface cleaning solution” including in the appropriate amounts in the fresh water tank, and the most thorough mop settings, I’m lucky if I’m left with anything better than a very odd brown streak around the edges of my floorboards. Usually, this is also seen in the middle of the floor, but the robot does not do a decent job against edges, vacuuming or mopping. Mopping is great. Just spreading the dirt evenly around the floor….sucks. Mop Score: 0/10. The duel no tangle rollers are great, and live up to the expectations I had. As a vacuum, it is mostly great, with the exception of the nav system. For some reason, it’s allergic to getting into tighter spaces and close to edges, leaving weird spots completely missed. Vacuum Score: 8.75/10 Occasionally, it decides to mop our living room rug. That’s less than ideal. Every time, “smart plan” will mop first, vacuum second. I haven’t found a way to stop this, so I usually run a vacuum cycle and then deep mop to embrace my futility. The app is great though, so cool! Intelligence Score: 6/10 I’m getting frustrated watching it do nothing in my kitchen for the second time today, and enjoying the brown tinge on my tile. I might try to just embrace it. For an evolution in Robovacs, this doesn’t feel like much more than what should be standard in 2024/2025. I wish I had opted for one of the Dreame models at a lower price point, but hey…I’m glad I got a cool rounded dock with no controls.
r/RobotVacuums • Review: ROBOROCK Qrevo Curv is a massive disappointment ->I have a Roborock S6 bought in 2020 that is still working. I honestly think I prefer my old 2007 Dyson and it is superior at vacuuming but I do like the robot vacuum for regular cleaning.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Robot Vacuum that Acutally Lasts? ->So, I have always been a roborock fan. I have the S6, and this year, I upgraded to the Qrevo Master. I use the Master on hardwood floors and tile. It's great for those applications. I have it mop the hardwood on the lowest water setting, which dries almost immediately. My floors are clean and show no signs of damage. It's great at avoiding most obstacles. It's not so great with cords. I only have one on the ground for our lamp... it will identify one portion of it and then roll over the next portion of it. Granted, it only gets tangled 2x a month on average. But it's enough to be frustrating. Most other features are top of its class. Mop self-cleaning, auto empty, the mapping features, and the app overall.
r/RobotVacuums • which robot vacuum ->I'm going to be biased since I own (and love) two Roborocks. I have an S6, which I recently moved to the second floor and upgraded to the Qrevo Master. My downstairs is all tile/hardwood, and the Master does an incredible job. The app is easy to navigate and very intuitive. The suction power is great. The robot is quiet. I do keep my floors tidy, but I have a cord that runs 10' or so to plug in one of our lamps. It's only gotten caught on it two times in the 2 months it's been running. I do hear great things about Dreame - but can't contribute anything. I would avoid shark based on most of the feedback I see in these forums. Edit to talk about hair entanglement - I have a short haired dog and a long-haired roommate, and the Master seems to handle the hair, no problem. While I perform regular maintenance, I do not have to cut (much) hair from the roller. We're talking a few strands, if any. The S6 wraps hair around its roller for fun, so improvements have definitely been made.
r/RobotVacuums • Please help me choose my first robot ever. Lost between Roborock, dreame, Eufy, Shark? ->I upgraded from the S6 to the Qrevo Master this past holiday season. . Absolutely loving it. Could still use a little work on object identification/ avoidance. Mops and vacuums flawlessly. I highly considered the Curv for its ability to climb higher thresholds but ultimately didn't like the design as much (pre edge release.) I think you'll be more than pleased with the S8 series, the curv/edge, or the master. I also highly recommend vacuum wars. I watched it religiously when making my decision
r/Roborock • Best robo vacuum under 1500 ->1 hour with the E25 and I already wish return was possible The roborock S6 is definitely being plugged back in tomorrow. Turned off Ai obstacle mode, now it smashes into everything. Like real hard this thing is probably not gonna last long, so many fragile parts. The roborock I have kicked and smashed with my foot so many times out of anger when it doesn't collaborate, and still he rocks 4-5 yrs later and no broken parts
r/RobotVacuums • My Review of the new eufy E25 ->My roborock s6 does a good job- BUT- I have hardwood floors... So, thats not saying much.
r/homeassistant • What are the best robot vacuums for those who're struggling with lots of PET HAIR? ->My Roborock S6 is still going strong after 5 years with one HUGE caveat. Every year I disassemble it to clean the vacuum filters and vacuum fan intake. It's a terrible design but with that maintenance and regular consumables replacement it's still doing great. I'm considering an upgrade to a true mopping robot once I'm convinced mopping is effective.
r/RobotVacuums • Wondering how long do the robot Vacuums last? And what about privacy/data protection? ->I have the s6 and although it doesn’t have object avoidance, it used to be really good at dodging anything laying on the ground. But now that’s it’s a few years old, I find that it grabs everything and gets stuck underneath small spaces. I cleaned the sensors thoroughly and even changed worn out parts. The cleaning is amazing though
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->I've used Roomba s9+, roborock s6, s7 max pro, dreame l20, and recently eufy s1 pro and can objectively say any of the lidar based bots are so much better than the roombas terrible navigation. Roombas have great carpet pick-up when they aren't roaming around aimlessly for an hour.
r/homeautomation • Does a Robot Vacuum Make a Difference? ->I have a Roborock S6 that I’ve had and used at least three times a week for around five years at this point. For me that’s about two years longer than I expected given it’s a high tech appliance.
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->So far I’ve only replaced parts that are meant to wear down, the brushes and the filter. The sensors need cleaning regularly but then I just wipe them down. I had one “incident” where the lidar stopped working. At that point I figured that “meh, it’s broken, might as well have a go at trying to repair and if it doesn’t work I’ll have to buy a new one.” Opened it up, detached the lidar and tried to make it spin (it was stuck), removed some dust and put everything back together.. been working like a charm ever since!
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->Roborock S6, 700+ hours, 5 years old, normal maintenance but no issues.
r/RobotVacuums • robot vacs you've used for YEARS ->I've been in the robot vacuum game for awhile. Had an OG Roomba Pro back in 2003, then a Roomba 500 series in 2008, Roborock S6 in 2020, and just got a Roborock Q5 Pro a month ago. The budget models of today are SO GOOD and SO CHEAP, that it is very hard for me to justify any of the higher tier models. I got the Q5 Pro for $139. Considering it has similar features but better cleaning performance than my S6 but costs $450 less than what I paid for the S6, it is the best value option out there imo. While the techie in me enjoys all of the latest features, I think adding pumps, water, and moving base parts is an order of magnitude more complexity and increases the odds of breaking something. My Roomba 500 still runs and it just needed battery replacements and a new vac motor over its 12 years of service. Granted, I have the perspective of having a robot vac for 2 decades, so picking up things on the floor that it'll get stuck on is second nature.
r/RobotVacuums • [deleted by user] ->Wow, did you really just admit to committing tax fraud and money laundering? Just because you pay in cash doesn't mean it's tax free. Anyway, I paid $400 for my Roborock S6 brand new. That expense would have paid for just 10 hours of cleaning at your pay rate (2.5 visits). My robot vacuum has saved me many hundreds of hours over the years.
r/homeautomation • Robotic vacuum recommendation ->Wow, that's crazy! I came across this old thread as I'm looking for new automation ideas but just have to comment about my Roborock S6. We've neglected the hell out of it. It has 1555 hours on it with minimal maintenance. Ran it every night for 4 years or so. So I always thought these things were tanks. It still works, but it's now our upstairs vacuum and we just don't use it very often because it's on carpet now which it just doesn't do well on. I just picked up the newer S8 last year as we wanted an upgraded one with a self-emptying dock. So far we have 330 hours on it. Hoping we don't run into the issues you had - maybe we should be better at maintenance on this one. Just in case.
r/homeassistant • What's the best robot vacuum for home currently? ->I've had my Roborock S6 for 3.5 years and it's been great. It runs 3 days a week over a fully carpeted apartment to help pick up the hair of our two long-hair cats. You can get replacement parts easy which is nice because the rollers and filters wear out over time. Looking online it appears that the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Roborock S8 Plus is the one that is generally recommended for hardwood floors. For dogs I'd probably recommend getting one with the self-emptying cannister, even though they're more expensive. As a side note, if you want to get a robot mop, don't use the combination vacuum/mop machines. Just get one that is exclusively a robot mop. Because the combo machines will never be quite as good as one that has only one dedicated function.
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->Check out Roborock vacuums. I love mine!
r/dogs • Is any of the robot (Roomba style) vacuums worth it for long haired dog hair? ->I have an older model, the S6. My son has the Q Revo, and it is great. It cleans really well. There are some newer models that have the double brush, that might be good for the long dog hair
r/dogs • Is any of the robot (Roomba style) vacuums worth it for long haired dog hair? ->I just bought a Roborock mop and vacuum from Costco and love it. Huge upgrade from my old Roomba. It self empties and washes the mops. All you do is refill water and empty dirty water. With your budget you can even afford the upgraded model that cleans with hot water and is better in the corners . Go for it!
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->I thought the same until I tried a mopping robo. Having your floors mopped twice a week while you’re at work is priceless. You can still do some extra mopping once a month if you feel the need.
r/homeautomation • Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum? ->Not a single new Roborock until they fix their new brushing system, the cleaning quality have dropped alot since S6/7. Atm dream Ultra seems to be the best choice if you got the money.
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendations for a Vacuum/Mop for a Busy Household ->Roborock because of how it maps, you can edit the map, you can program how loud it is, and you can even get ones that have a mop attachment.
