Reading this literally as I closed out a support ticket for my S7 Max 😭… Gotta send it in for a repair but luckily under warranty; only had it for two months. Love the thing for vacuuming but the mopping system has been a nightmare; I’m hearing “Error 42” in my sleep at this point.
It depends on your budget, but you might want to check the Roborock S7 (standard dock), it has strong suction for crumbs and hair, built-in mopping, anti-tangle brushes, and a low-profile dock that won’t crowd your space. Just empty the bin and rinse the mop occasionally, and it handles daily cleaning with very little effort.
You might want to check the[ Roborock S7 series](https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumsTips/comments/1qxaugi/best_affordable_selfemptying_robot_vacuums_for/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). A lot of self-emptying bots sound great on paper but get annoying fast; this one’s mostly boring in a good way. It docks and empties reliably, navigation is solid, and you’re not constantly fixing hair tangles or errors. Feels genuinely hands-off once it’s set up.
I second and third Roborock. I’ve had my s7 max since it came out (so over years now?) and it’s one of the most reliable things I own. Which is astounding because I’m comparing that to things with little or no moving parts
Get a Roborock. I've had the S7 Max for over 2 years and its been amazing, its years ahead of the last robot vacuum I had. Go to the roborock website and browse either the legacy models or the refurbished section and you can get some absolute killer deals.
I like my Roborock S7 max. But I can’t compare it to anything. It does get hung up on rugs quite easily but it’s possibly because of the aftermarket side brush I’m using. There is currently a HomeAssisstant issue at this very moment with Roborock though which should be fixed soon. But it’s worrying me because It’s caused by API changes and that is bringing back flashbacks to the MY-Q situation.
Roborock S7 max is nice, it will also mop which it will turn off if it's going over carpet.
I like my Roborock s7 more than any iRobot I have owned.
Honestly, I’m already on my second Roborock. I started with the Roborock S7 Max back in 2019, and it completely changed the way I clean my home. The performance, navigation, and consistency were incredible. My floors were always spotless with almost no effort from me. Recently I upgraded to the Roborock Q Revo Curv X because I really wanted the fully automated dock experience. My S7 Max was still working perfectly, but the idea of having a dock that takes care of everything: washing the mop, emptying the dustbin, and reducing maintenance even more was too good to pass up. I actually ended up giving my S7 Max to my mom, and now she’s also a Roborock fan. What I love most about Roborock is reliability. It simply works. My floors are always immaculate, and my guests constantly comment on how clean my home looks. It saves me a huge amount of time and makes keeping the house clean almost effortless. If there’s one feature I would love to see in future generations, it would be the ability to steam-clean floors. Combining Roborock’s automation and smart navigation with true steam sanitation would be a game changer, especially for kitchens and high traffic areas.
I’ve had a couple models since buying my S7 max. It’s odd that they keep getting worse and worse. I always get downvoted, but in my real world house, the S7 is just light years better than my current revo master (one is upstairs and one downstairs). Beyond frustrating.
There will be lots of opinions. Here’s mine: I have a qrevo master and an s7 max+. The spinning mops on the qrevo suck. There’s no weight on them so they don’t clean as good. The dust bin doesn’t make sense and holds nothing. It also can’t find the doc as well. I’d trade the qrevo for an s7 (or 8) any second of any day.
Yes, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve had my Roborock S7 max for maybe two years. I have it vacuum/mop every other day, and the floors are great. My one pro tip is to put about a quarter inch of mouthwash in the dirty water bin after you empty it. It cuts down the smell by like 90%.
Which one did you go with OP? I’m in the same situation comparing all 3 models . I myself have an s7 max that I’m going to retire to my upstairs usage as it no long docks to clean the mop. All carpet upstairs, except the bathrooms . Laminate downstairs
