"My Roborock S7 has been nearly flawless. ... I just fill / empty the tanks for it's weekly cleaning (mop & vac - carpet / hard floor) & it gives me perfect floors. ... it's easily one of my better investments."

"It marks on the map what it thinks it is and takes a picture so I can see what it avoided. So far I haven’t had it hit anything and never has gotten stuck."

"I briefly owned an s7 maxV and found it identified and avoided more obstacles than my L10s Ultra. ... The roborock pathing also seems more intelligent and would simply maneuver around the obstacle rather than having to look back three to four times to make sure it avoided the object(L10s U). ... I found the software and obstacle avoidance was far superior on the roborock."

"They have one of the best avoidance system."

"We have four roborock S7’s running in our 5,000 sqft office. ... Bought them since they first came out years ago. ... They run every day. ... Only last year did we replace the battery for all 4. ... Other than that, no issue at all, rock solid, very pleased that we also have them for our homes too."

"Mine current us at 1903 hours and 94700 square meters …"

"I purchased a Roborock S7 and the family liked it so much that I bought a S7 MaxV the following Black Friday. ... We’ve owned them for a few years now, and if they died tomorrow, I’d go out and buy whatever their top-of-the-line model is."

"Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. ... I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. ... For me yes but I say that mostly because of the tangle free vacuuming of pet hair and the improved hair pickup on carpets. I was tired of cleaning out the old one and so far with this I have zero tangles. ... The S7 MaxV had the worst hair pickup on carpets, with the stock rubber brush, of all the bots I ever owned. Tangles were minimal but it didn't do well taking hair off the carpets (it did great on the hardwood/tile though). Swapping out the rubber to the bristle brush improved the pickup but increased the tangle problem - it also created a problem with auto-empty for me a few times. ... It mops/vacuums significantly better than my S7 MaxV. Especially on carpets (especially especially pulling dog hair off carpets). ... That being said I LOVE the anti-tangle brush. 3 Months and I haven't had to clean the brush one time. It's literally perfect for me."

"Long hair, in particular, seems to be a huge issue – it constantly wraps around the main brush and even the small front wheel. ... At this point, I feel like I’m putting more effort into maintaining the robot than I would if I just vacuumed manually. ... I’m seriously questioning if the robot is still worth it, considering how much time I spend cleaning it. ... I think the hair will remain a problem, but it will probably require a lot less maintenance."

"My wife has super long hair which always annoys me - gets stuck on the regular vacuums brush and the roborock s7 (axles, not on the rollers)."

"Still. I own S7 MaxV and obstacle avoidance is nearly useless..."

"If I leave them, they'll get chewed, tangled up.. it'll take robo 5x the amount of time to navigate around crap and by the time it cleans up some rooms it'll run out of battery."

"Compare the S7 maxv against the X30 or the X40 and you will find that the Dreame blows roborock out of the water, it's not even close. ... Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. ... It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent."

"It will pick up much more dust, dirt, hair, cat litter and other debris than the S7. ... It performs very similarly to the S7, and has a very similar vacuuming module with the upgraded rollers that reduce hair tangling. The S8 just picks up far more dust, dirt and hair than the Saros 10R. As a vacuum cleaner only, the Saros 10R does a fairly average job."

I have the S7 maxv ultra and have never been very impressed with it. Particularly with its ability to avoid cords and things of that nature.. Very disappointing, especially considering it even has the structured light sensor as well.. Not sure what the deal is.. whether it’s the software, not enough computing power, or both

I had the S7 Maxv Ultra for two years. Cleaning was really good. But there were some issues. My main complaint was the dock, it was difficult to clean and maintain, and it would require a heavy cleaning once in a while or it would start to smell. It was especially hard to get the gunk out, around the little cleaning brush and wiper in the dock. I did it, but swore I would get a different model next time. When it died a week ago, I wanted to get the new Saros 10r. But regionally here, its a lot more expensive. So got the Saros 10. I had it for 24 hours, then returned it. It was smarter looking then my S7, it moved about more intelligently, and it crossed the high barriers in my house. But the mopping was surprisingly bad, worse even then my S7. I did 4x full deep cleans on maximum power in my kitchen/living room and in none of these cleans, did not manage to get any dry stains off on our laminate floors. Mind you, these stains were not week old, nor difficult to remove. It ran over these stains several times to no effect. I could moist my finger and remove the stain without any force. But it didn't manage to remove any of them. It vacuumed pretty good, on par with my old S7. But it did not reach out to clean the floors under my radiators, as my old S7 did. Don't know if it was an obstacle avoidance setting, but it didn't. It did manage to get under one particular annoying serving table I have in a hallway, where the s7 and older models usually got stuck, so that part was good. The dock was a clear upgrade in pure functions, with the detergent dispenser, and the heating system. But it still got nasty like the old S7. After a full day of cleaning, gunk started building up in all the same places. So, it went back. I really REALLY, wanted it to be good. As I have a ton of spare mopping pads for it, and I thought it looked cool. But it wasn't good enough. I am now contemplating the Qrevo Curv, as a replacement. Due to the easy to clean dock, and the different mopping system. I wanted to try the Saros 10r, but it's just too expensive here.

Coming from an S7 MaxV Ultra after 2 years and now an owner of an S10, I can say, the S10 is the better choice. Done a lot of research on it over the last 6 months, thought the R was the better one but... nope. Sadly the R has a lot more issues wich have to be sorted out. But anyways, got rugs almost in the entire house, a lot of them high, a long hair collie and We're 3 People. So far after 2 weeks of having one, I am amazed. Only got stuck once so far, and it was on a fan, else wise, haven't had to put up even single No Go Zone, the S7 needed about ... 8. Was 8 the Max? Idk. But it was getting stuck way to often. Also, if You got a place for the fresh and dirt water and You know how to hook it up or someone to do it for You, I'd recommend the one with the auto empty fixed water hook up. I've got My S10 with the waterhookup for 1400 bucks while it was on sale, maybe wait a bit longer and get one with even less work to do.

I work for an athletic training facility, and we are considering buying a few robovacuums to vacuum/mop the rubber flooring and potentially vacuum the turf. The area in total is large and why we are considering getting a few of them, but the space itself has lots of items, walls, gym equipment etc so it’s not like it’s going to just clean in 5,000sqft of empty space. I know that LiDAR doesn’t do well when it has nothing to reference against (is it worth going with a camera system like the S7?) but I am hoping that with all the items it wouldn’t be too bad. The only large open area is the pitching area which is turf and we probably wouldn’t have it run there consistently, the only area of turf it would run on is the border of the main gym area. I have an S7 MaxV Ultra (or whatever it’s called) at home. Although I think the spinning mop pads may do better than the vibrating single pad.

I got mine for free. But also, now that I’ve experienced it, I think I would have paid full price ($1200)… with that said. You could get a used one and clean it up, and get a package of replacement parts on amazon. They sell kits with new brushes, pads, and bags for like $30… or get a new one but an older model. My S7 Max V Ultra is going for $650 new and it does everything I could ever need perfectly

For me I save tons of time with 2 dogs. I do find that you get what you pay for. Make sure you get a vacuum with pet accident avoidance. That said my roborock did get a number 2 accident before. It wasn’t fun but fortunately the robot errored out before it was able to spread around the house. I have spare parts on hand so I just switched them out. I bought it almost 3 years ago now and I haven’t vacuumed or mopped my house since (besides spot cleans from kid/ dog messes).

I’ve had a few different ones. If I had to pick a favourite I’d say the Eufy X10 pro omni. Mainly because it has all the useful features of the flagships and is a third of the price. Getting it to work with HA requires some fiddling though. Others I’ve had: Roborock S7 maxv ultra: base station broke in under a year. Stopped being able to empty the robot dustbin. Dreame x40 ultra: good machine. Dock was a bit on the large side. I did like the separate detergent tank.

The Roborock QRevo seems to go on sale every month or 2 on ebay for $360 for a refurb sold by Roborock. Mine looked new when it arrived. That's crazy good value. I also have an S7 maxv ultra, but the qrevo is close enough and cost a third what I had paid.

So, my first robot vacuum/mop was the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra The dock has a clean water tank and a dirty water tank, as well as a bag to collect the dry stuff the vacuum picks up. I had to empty the dirty water and refill the clean water about every two to three weeks, depending on how often I ran it (typically once per week). The dock also cleans the mop pad after it's done. Some of the newer Roborock models like the Saros 10 actually use heat to dry the mop. I recently got the Saros 10 to replace the S7, and my only complaint is that it has a slightly smaller water tank. But, on the plus side, it has a detergent dispenser that automatically mixes some cleaner in with the water when it refills the robot for mopping. It also has substantially higher suction so it's more effective as a vacuum. The biggest downside to the good, self-cleaning robots is cost. I got the Saros 10 on sale but it was still $1200. They make some cheaper models that are still very good, so it's kind of up to your budget and preferences. I hope that helps.

My first robot was a Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, bought about 3 years ago. It recently died, so I replaced it with the Dreame L50 Ultra. I have pretty much stopped manually vacuuming and have heavily reduced dust at home. Now, the Roborock had a kind of weak mop; the L50 is supposed to be far superior. Before, I was still mopping at least every few months, but in general, I should have done it more often. Now, probably even manually mopping won’t be required. As others have suggested, give it a try, get a decent model, especially with strong object recognition; it will save you so much time, and your place will always be clean.

We have the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and love it. The phone app is second to none in my opinion, having used Shark, iRobot and Neato in the past. We've had it for 2-3 years now and no issues at all other than regular cleaning & maintenance. Ours is the full auto-empty/wash/mop base, but you can get them without the mop cleaning part for a bit cheaper. Highly recommend the mopping one though if you have hard floors. Just set that thing to vac & mop every other day and never worry about dirty floors again. Checkout "Vacuum wars" on YouTube, he has fantastic videos testing & comparing all the various robot vacuum models.

Significantly. And while I don't have the Revo because it wasn't out yet, paying out the nose for my mop/vacuum was worth every penny. It's an absolute game changer to have freshly mopped floors daily. Mine is the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and while its not the most amazing mop available, since it's a robot I don't mind making it work unpaid overtime. I tell it to go mop the floors 3 times while I sleep and I wake up with fresh floors. If the kids go nuts in the kitchen I'll have it mop 9 times and that takes care of even the worst of messes they have made.

Lower prices are always great, but I don't regret paying $1k for mine. It's been mopping floors 3-5x per week for two years now. That's like 400 times that I didn't have to mop - and that number just keeps going up. If it can keep going for another couple years I'll be happy as a clam with my purchase. They've already gotten better in the last two years since I got mine so I figure in two years I'll happily overpay for the latest features again.

I've been a long time adopter of robot vacuums and have had my fair share of furry dogs, including a woolly malamute + shiba pair. Currently I only have a single dog (shiba). Right now, I use dual Roborock (Q8 Max+ and S7 MaxV Ultra - upstairs/downstairs) - they are outside of your price window, but there are similar models out there for cheaper. The thing you have to understand about robot vacs is that they are light duty usage. You will still need to maintain a regular deep cleaning routine - whatever you deem necessary to keep your house in a state which you think is acceptable. The robot basically allows you to extend that maintenance window a little bit. Instead of a deep vacuum every week, maybe it's every week and a half. Something like that. They help keep the furballs down, but they won't knock them out. Also, they are much better on hard flooring versus carpet - although if you deep clean carpets, they pick up surface fur/hair well enough. Also keep in mind that you will have to do regular maintenance and replace parts on all of these. They are not zero maintenance machines. The regularity with which you do your maintenance will have a pretty big impact on the overall life of the vacuum. These are also not BIFL. Honestly, these will probably run at their peak performance for around 2-3yrs (depending on how often you schedule their jobs) before they start degrading. Batteries will probably the be the first thing that goes, but these are generally replaceable. I have Roombas that are limping along that are seven+ years old, but you can tell there's just something wrong with them (I swear they're depressed). If I had to slap a lifespan on them, I'd guess five good years. If you're ok with that, Roborock, Dreame, and Ecovacs are the brands that consistently pop up as having decent all around ratings. Roborock is by far the best all-around and most consistent. HOWEVER, this is a very rapidly changing market and what's top dog one year can be completely ousted the next thanks to shitty app updates or... well... tariffs. iRobot and their Roomba still... exists... and I guess they'd be ok as a potential "I just need a robot and this was the only one I could find in the store" option. But everything about them is pretty subpar now - the robots are inconsistent and considered pretty stupid, their app is mediocre, and their pricing is just non-competitive compared to the other brands. At minimum, I would suggest a robot which includes a self-emptying dock. It does drive up the price a bit, and the docks often aren't compatible with other models, even from the same brand - but it's almost a requirement if you have pets, unless you want to empty the robot out halfway though a job. Vacuum Wars has a website with a top 20 list as well as a YouTube channel - very worth checking out. Go through his list, find a robot that has all the functions you're looking for at the price point that's acceptable.

Based on what you’ve written, it seems that the mopping performance isn’t particularly revolutionary compared to spinning or vibrating mops. And the vacuum is average. Eufy’s advertising claims that their mopping is miles ahead of the competition, but no impartial reviews actually confirm this. Most of the YouTube reviews are sponsored by Eufy anyway, so they aren’t really trustworthy. If you already have a recent all-in-one robot like the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, which is working flawlessly but just a bit weak when it comes to mopping, would you really consider upgrading?

We have a Roborock S7 MaxV, and I love it. Our main floor (around 850 sq ft) is all hard surface flooring, and it was a lot to sweep each night. Plus we have two large dogs. The Roborock runs each night and makes it a breeze to keep the floors clean; all I have to do is make sure the floor is clear each night and let it do its thing! The S7 MaxV also mops which I set for it to mop every other night, but the best thing is that it has a dock with a water tank that is very convenient. The previous Roborock vacuum I had also mopped, but it had a water bin in the vacuum that I would have to refill after every other mopping which was annoying and sometimes wouldn't get done. Depending on the size of your space / floor, it can be worth it. Too small of a space, and it's probably not worth it.

In the app you can configure the light to be always on.  At least I have that option for the s7mvu.   It is hidden in the reactive obstacle avoidance menu.

Roborock s7max v ultras have a camera and you can drive the robot around.   It announces to the world when the camera is in use.  My experience,  though, is if the robot gets stuck, the camera and remote control are rarely helpful.  It's also laggy and awkward.

Correct.  It does not vacuum when manually driven as far as I can tell.  You can resume vacuuming, though. Sometimes is is good enough to unstick it when stuck, but rarely. For a basic home inspection device, it could work, but is slow and awkward

From my personal experience it is Roborock models. I’ve had 2x Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, 2x Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and now Roborock Saros 10R and I couldn’t be happier. When I had first gotten the S7 MaxV Ultra’s k had questions about original accessories and I had emailed them and they replied so quickly with the Information I needed. I tried Ecovacs X9 Omni Pro and I think my robot was faulty. I tried contacting support directly when I received it, I have yet to receive an answer (Europe/Netherlands). I have returned it back to Amazon instead.

I’m really impressed with our Roborock S7 Max V. My concerns with a mower are: how would it do with rocks or sticks (would it avoid them?) and how would it handle dog poop (would it avoid it?).

I would suggest going to Vacuum Wars and looking at the latest video reviews. That YouTuber has the best and most objective reviews. Also Jamie Andrew’s is good if still doing them. Personally, I have a Roborock S7 Max V and think RR does a good product. But I don’t think $1600 is necessary to get a great robotic vacuum cleaner and wouldn’t spend that. I am also considering the E28 and the T50, but having spent $1200 when the Roborock S7 was top of the line, I think I can wait and get a great deal for $6xx between now and Christmas. If I needed one now, I’d consider the T50, but would scrutinize the reviews. For hard floors, I agree with another poster that the e28and roller mop might be the best choice, if money isn’t an issue. I think we’ll hear that the bin is small on the T50, but most other functions are solid and it’s at the top of Vacuum Wars list right now. But they have yet to review the E28.

I’ve been running the Roborock QRevo Curv for 3 weeks after upgrading from a Roborock S7MaxV and it has been excellent. No hair tangling with the split dual brush. The only issue I’ve had is small objects (2-5cm) getting stuck and halting the cleaning cycle. I have young kids and a wife who crafts. We have an extraordinary amount of the small toys and charms everywhere. I’m sure more than 95% of the population lol, so most should be okay.

Yeah my previous one from 2 years ago was straight trash too, I’ve gone through quite a few brands at this point but randomly got the t50 pro recently to give them another shot. I’d say their app is on par with Roborock now, and the cleaning performance I’m getting from this one is miles above my old s7 maxv. I purchased a Roborock S7 and the family liked it so much that I bought a S7 MaxV the following Black Friday. I have both running on different floors of the house. We’ve owned them for a few years now, and if they died tomorrow, I’d go out and buy whatever their top-of-the-line model is. As others have suggested, get the dock. It makes things so simple. I had a Roborock HA widget at some point, but I found it unnecessary so uninstalled it. I just use the Roborock iOS app. Once you map your house and setup a schedule, there’s not much else to do. FWIW I wasn’t familiar with the Roborock brand prior to all this. I watched this YouTube channel (Vacuum Wars?) that put a bunch of vacuums head-to-head through various challenges to see which ones performed best, and this seemed like a strong performer at that time. Best of luck. Hope this helps!

I briefly owned an s7 maxV and found it identified and avoided more obstacles than my L10s Ultra. The roborock pathing also seems more intelligent and would simply maneuver around the obstacle rather than having to look back three to four times to make sure it avoided the object(L10s U). Perhaps Dreame has come a long way, but I found the software and obstacle avoidance was far superior on the roborock.

I'd like to get your take on my situation. I need a robot for upstairs which is all carpet with two big, shedding dogs and lots of toddler and dog toys spread about. So no mop needed, but maximum vacuum power and top notch object detection ON CARPET are my two main priorities. I bought a Roborock Q8 Max+ and an S8 MaxV Ultra to test because they both have double rollers and ranked highly for on-carpet pet hair pickup on Rtings. I believe vacuuming performance will be approximately the same between these two robots, but it's the improved object detection of the S8 Max Ultra that I'm thinking might make the extra spend worth it. Is there anything else I should be considering with these specific requirements? The only other one I had on my radar is the Dreame X50 Ultra. Price is not an important factor to me, and I'm located in the US.

Thanks, I've got an S7 Max V downstairs that does a great job of not getting stuck on toys actually, but I understand that object detection performance is typically better on hard floors. If object detection on carpet is hopeless, and mopping isn't needed, then what advantage does the S8 have over the Q8? Seems like suction is the only thing, but I've read that having a well designed dual roller system is really the most critical factor when it comes to dog hair on carpets, so I'm not so sure that the S8 MaxV Ultra will really be better than the Q8 for my application. I guess time will tell! I'm super curious about the Dreame, because its on-carpet object detection is very strong. Perhaps a test is in order!

The S7 is abysmal with pet hair pickup on carpet. It's so bad, I don't even bother letting it try as it's just noisy and doesn't do much! Going to the Q8 with dual rollers has been a night and day difference (in the one day I've tried it haha). For now, the S7 will stay downstairs where it's mostly hard floors while the new robot will handle the all-carpet upstairs. We'll eventually upgrade the downstairs S7 as well, but then the choice will be much more straightforward as the newer models are so well rounded (at the sacrifice of good carpet pickup performance it seems). One thing that's certain is that the Dyson vis nav is not the right answer. It couldn't even find its dock after completing the upstairs mapping routine 🤦 😅

S7 maxv is a $1000 robot while the l10S is a $400 robot. Compare the S7 maxv against the X30 or the X40 and you will find that the Dreame blows roborock out of the water, it's not even close. The QRevo slim is rated as having the best obstacle avoidance of all the roborocks and I purchased one because of that, in my real world testing on carpet and hard floors, it is significantly worse than the Dreame X40 and even my old Eufy x10. So maybe it's the best Roborock but that really isn't a high bar to pass.

Fair enough. In that case it looks like Dreame made a huge improvement with object avoidance with the introduction of their "X" series like the X30 and X40. Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. Looking at all the comparisons, most rank the Slim above the S8 and the S7 and then the X40 is well beyond the Slim. It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent.

I got my Saros 10R yesterday around this time (purchased it myself). I'm upgrading from a S7 Max V. Had a Neato D7 before that and a Robock S5 Max and very briefly a Dreame X40 that broke. [https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png](https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png) **Few things before I go into it:** I live in a relatively small home. My first floor is mostly hardwood/tile with a 15x20' area rug in the living room. My second floor is all deep carpet. I have a long haired German Shepherd and a wife that both shed a fair amount of longish hair. I keep my rooms mostly tity but my computer does have a fair amount of cables/wires that are wrapped together, but run along the floor. My wife also has a Korg keyboard that has a foot pedal and she often leaves it on the ground. **Super Pros:** * General hardwood/tile mopping significantly better than the S7 Max V. My wife and I both noticed it immediately after the first clean I ran. It covered more areas, got closer to objects (the pivoting side mop helps a lot with that) it reached under my cabinets and it was able to get under two pieces of furniture the S7Max couldn't fit under. * Low Pile Rug performance is much better. I do wish I could set it to 2x crisscross every time on the area rugs.. but the mixed pattern will have to do. * It's way, way, way quieter. General runs are quieter. Max+ mode (or w/e its called) is way quieter. Mopping is now nearly silent. The transfer from robot to base is much quieter than the S7 MaxV. * The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. * The feature set is more rich over the S7 Max. This one is a think a bit annoying because I feel like a some of these features the S7 could do, its just software locked.. but having the ability to do pet area deep cleaning, mixed pattern cleaning, the rug options + all the leave behind the mops, extensions, re-mopping, etc is all really cool. * The detergent dispenser is a nice addition over the S7 MaxV. * The ability to clean out the tray and the self cleaning stuff is super nice. **Kind of Pros but maybe a little not:** * Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. * I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. The Saros 10R filled about a quarter of it's bin - but no tangles! The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. Neato is still king of deep carpet cleanup (if you ignore how jammed full of hair it gets) * I think the takeaway here is that the Saros 10R is big improvement but I find Roborock still lacks with hair pickup on deep carpets - even area rugs, to an extent.. over much older vacuums. * Pivoting Side Brush is good.. sometimes? When it works, it obviously works and pulls stuff out of corners, I don't find it working that often though - especially under the cabinets/corner cabinets. It comes outsometimes for a bit then goes away. (this is with the AI Lab Flexi arm thing enabled). * Navigation seems similar/better. In terms of actually going around and finding how to get there, it seems quicker (i haven't timed it) and it does less random movements like my S7 Max V did both during and after its cleaned. **Cons:** * The obstacle avoidance seems worse, maybe even way worse? I know it's only been 24 hours and I know the system the 10R specifically uses is new, but so far it's been pretty bad at detecting things, especially cables. * Yesterday when I was messing around with it, it ran into one of my dogs stuffed toys and got stuck on it. It also decided to "jump" little tray tables I have under my sofa, and got stuck on a wire behind them. (I set this as a no-go from now on). * This morning was the first time I ran it on a schedule - I do it early before I wake up, but I woke up to it stuck on the cable for my Wife's keyboard, the mop got wrapped in the cable and it pulled it off. * Just an hour or so ago today, when I was testing the carpet pickup on the second floor, it ran into a sock under my nightstand and got jammed. * Kind of disappointing considering my S7 Max V maybe got stuck twice, in the entirety of 2 years I owned it. I'm chalking this up to a combination of bad luck, weirdness because it's trying to hop stuff the others wouldn't attempt, and relatively new firmware on a new type of obstacle avoidance system. I hope it will improve. * All the Bins are too damn small. * My dog blows his coat twice per year. When that happens my S7 Max V can sometimes get nearly filled with dog hair. I've had to split rooms up into subrooms in order to force it to go back to the dock more often to empty. In this case - the Saros 10R not only has a smaller bin, but it's better at cleaning hair. I can see this being a problem. * It seems to use more water than my S7 MaxV while mopping, yet the clean and dirty bin are both smaller. Which means more refills. * The gloss on the front of the dock is a fingerprint magnet. I hate it. **Conclusion:** Overall, again after only 24 hours, I think its' a pretty nice upgrade over the S7 MaxV and I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping software improves the obstacle avoidance, which is my biggest concern at the moment. I also hope Roborock continues to improve it's suction/hair pickup performance - i really hope youtubers also create better tests for this. A lot of these guys say these newer robots are "perfect" at it and it's just not been my experience at all. They are getting better - in fact tangles seem solved, which is great, but they also leave a ton of hair behind.. even when compared to older robot vacuums but especially compared to a Dyson or something. **If anyone has any questions or wants anything specifically answered let me know ill do my best to respond.**

It does okay. It's still short of my old neato and way short of my Dyson but it does a significantly better job than my S7 MaxV with rubber brush. Notably with hair pickup - where it does as good if not better than the S7 MaxV with bristle brush but with zero tangles. As far as actual cleanup of fine dirt and hair, my ole neato still wins.

Had my Saros 10 for a couple of days, seems to work well on my low pile carpet. Obviously never had a S8 before. I see people mention S10 is not great on carpet due to the hair detangling brush design, but personally I am loving this brush. My wife’s hair is quite fine and long but it’s doing a fantastic job reducing the amount of maintenance I need to do for the rollers. My S7 MaxV and Eufy L60 required me removing hair from the roller at least every few days. One thing I must mention is Roborock is not putting enough resource in providing updates for Saros 10. Their focus seems to be on the 10R.

It depends. If you’re like me and my fiancé, who hate cleaning floors, our Roborock has basically eliminated mopping and vacuuming, we haven’t done either in almost a year. Ironically the last time I touched my upright vacuum was to clean the robot’s filter. If you’re a stickler for spotless deep cleans, it won’t fully replace manual work. However for us, sending it on an extra pass makes everything look beautiful. We consistently have the cleanest floors amongst our friends. I love that it fits under all my furniture, so those areas are cleaner than they’ve ever been since I’d never move furniture when cleaning manually. For mopping, there are three main systems: vibrating pads (like a sonic toothbrush), spinning mop pads that reach into corners, and roller mops, which are closest to a true deep clean since they can apply more pressure and clean themselves as they go. Maintenance is easy I toss the pad in the wash once a month, and replacements are cheap on Amazon for big brands like Roborock or Dreame. For vacuuming, mine pulls carpet fibers, so my upright has become ornamental. We’ll probably grab a stick vac for emergencies when we move, but realistically it’ll sit in the closet. The only downside is hair. Without auto detangling, I pop the roller out once a week and clear it, which takes 30 seconds. So yes it fully replaces vacuuming and mopping for me- however if you want true deep cleans, you’ll still need to go manual occasionally Last thing I’ll add is another big plus is scheduling. Mine runs every other day to vacuum, and vacuums+mops in between, which is huge with three cats and a dog. Even if I’m on vacation, I come home to clean floors. It’s also been a godsend during depressive bouts, I used to let floors go for months, but now they stay clean no matter what. It’s the only smart home purchase I’ve made that made my place genuinely feel like a smart home.

Thanks for the objective early review. I'm waiting for the UK release to upgrade from my S7 MaxV, and pet hair is also one of my drivers. We have two long-haired cats who tend to leave an invisible layer of fur that floats on the carpet; it's not noticeable, but if you rub it with your hand it balls up into fluff. With the S7, we've tended to find that the silicon roller doesn't pick this up very well, with the benefit of that being it doesn't clog up, whereas if we swap and use the brush roller, it does a good job but clogs in minutes. It's good to hear from your review and others I've read this week that real-world performance with long hair seems to be really good. Could you clarify if the 10R has a RGB camera like the S7 MaxV? Cached versions of the Roborock spec reference it, but I've seen third-party comparison tables say it doesn't, and the official Roborock site doesn't seem to mention it any more.

It's a massive difference - day and night. We have two long-haired persian cats, and with my previous S7 MaxV I could either use the supplied silicon roller, which would tend to skim the film of fur off carpets into cloudy mats of fur that were still embedded in the carpet pile, or use the brush roller which would do a good job, but literally every room I'd need to completely detangle it at least once. Had the S10 with the DuoDivide for a couple of months now and the difference is incredible - it pulls all the cat hair out of the carpet and picks practically all of it up - what doesn't get picked up tends to be an occasional clump that's easily picked up by hand. I still expected to have to do some untangling from the brushes, but in two months of cleaning, I've not needed to clean the brushes once and they remain totally hair-free. I'd definitely spend the extra on a DuoDivide model in your situation.

Even ancient og Roborock S5 will absolutely outshine this thing. They can often be found used for like 80usd just because the included charger costs like 50usd and fits all roborocks. The S5 can be held alive forever with cheap original parts from AliExpress. If you have more cash then roborocks MaxV models often go used pretty cheap and especially the S7 MaxV is fenomenal.

I have a Roborock vacuum/mop combo (S7 MaxV Plus) that is a few years old now and still going strong! I have vinyl/tile floors and few area rugs, and we never really have golden tumble weeds. I made my decision after watching videos on the Vacuum Wars Youtube channel: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meXb09Ywgq8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meXb09Ywgq8)

When I first got my s7maxv it was terrible, but after a couple weeks it got updates and fixed the issues I had with it, specifically the obstacle avoidance. Now updates may not fix it, but I’m betting on it fixing it soon. It’s new tech it’s going to be buggy. If you aren’t willing to have problems at release wait a few months and see if the updates will fix the problems.

I live in a 2 story home. First floor is all LVP and marble. My Roborock comes out twice a week; once for vacuuming and sweeping, and once for mopping. My wife is a stickler for clean floor (Asian), and she haven't mop first floor in years.

i've been impressed with roborock's offerings. i've had my s7 max v for a few years now and it generally seems to work well and not get stuck or lost usually after programming the map. i am not up to date on the latest offerings of all the companies though. my main point was get one with like obstacle avoidance and higher end features otherwise it'll always get stuck or require constant emptying which just defeats the entire purpose of having a "set and mostly forget" device do your vacuuming and mopping

As others have said, Vacuum wars have some great comparison videos with stains (and I think the channel owner is a moderator on this subreddit now.) I have an irobot J7+ (just vacuum, with auto-emptying dock) and a Roborock s7 maxv, which is a vacuum and mop combo. I don't have the dock, because I foolishly believed like many others I could buy it without it, and get the dock for cheap later on. The mopping function is fantastic, and is great for cleaning footprints, dirt, and very light stains. Doing 3 or so passes on the same room can do a somewhat better job, but tough stains will require manual cleaning eventually, and I suspect that will be the case regardless of the vacuum you get. It's definately worth it to have though, and saves a ton of effort and time in my case. I also have a regular cordless vacuum/mop combo (A Tineco Floor One S5), which I would not recommend. It works decently enough (although it also doesn't get tough stains, which is what I was hoping for), but cleanup is a pain. I've only used it a couple times in months, and usually send out the other robot vacuums first to get up all the hair and debris to make cleanup easier when I do. **Shop around for a while, but don't order until Black Friday or something like Prime day. Usually you'll get 30-45% discounts on models you're interested in.** Auto-emptying docks are a godsend, and bigger batteries are also really important, IMO. My J7+ often has to charge 1-2 times to finish the job, and over years batteries degrade and get weaker. I've heard good things about later models of self-cleaning and emptying versions of the mop parts as well--earlier ones had issues with drying the mop pad. TLDR: Mops are definitely worth it.

My Irobot J7+ and Roborock s7 maxv have significantly different power, but not in that sense. The Roborock can go far longer without having to return to the dock and charge, while the irobot often has to charge 1-2 times before finishing the same job. Navigation and mopping are also obviously better. Bigger batteries are key as the machines age, since you can't replace batteries easily. I also have a roborock qrevo with the full dock (which my other one lacks), and it's so much more convenient that it fills the water and cleans and dries the mop all on it's own, as well as emptying the dirt. The J7+ Does have a bigger dirt bag, but it clogs more often IMO.

Ignoring that every one of your posts is a chatgpt output, for a 1B1B even 2B I'd just get the cheapest vacuum unit with base, depending on square feet or if you have pets (I know you don't). If you tend to spend a lot of time mopping/vacuuming, maybe get a mop model but a swiffer/ikea mop once a month is probably what I would do. Some people mop weekly, then get a mop model. 'Worth it' depends on your income level, assets, and priorities, but everyone has their own thresholds for spending. I have an s7 max ultrav that I bought refurbished, and considering the vacuum performance on carpet isn't great and I end up going over it with a dyson, I would've been better off with a cheaper model. It's great for the hard floors, decent at avoiding junk on floors, and mopping is ok but mop systems seem to be improving rapidly and my floor is not flat due to tile choice. I have a $150 wyze (i.e. roborock clone) in my pool house, and honestly, that thing is enough for most people. Just going to a lidar robot vacuum is a huge bump for most people. The self emptying base station is a must for dog owners, I'm about to mod in a bagless system for my s7 as I get it to run the main floor every day. The mopping is fine, but I wish I had auto refill/empty so I could mop automatically, right now I just check the fluids before/during most mops. The AI/vision is decent, doesn't avoid everything but avoids 99% of things. However, I've seen plenty of posts where it will and can still hit animal waste and wouldn't rely on it if you have pets that are known to get sick or have an accident. A basic vacuum system is enough, if I were you I'd just get a base model and a mop. You spoke in another post about generating income from your emergency fund, well the quickest way to generate income is to not spend it and I'm saving you about $1500-1600 for something you don't need based on your post.

I've only had this a day but really impressed with it. Its half the price of my Roborock S7 Ultra and its got better vacuuming and mopping. The design of the dock is better as it makes maintenance a lot easier with the removable section. I don't have pets but house is 50/50 carpet/tile and no issues with vacuuming or mopping or navigation so far. It did once think the grout between the tile was a wire or cable and try to avoid it.

If all you care about is the vacuuming performance, the dyson robot vacuum is the best performer (especially against fine dust and deep carpets), If you want other commodities/features, then the roborock S7 is good. The s8 and newer units have more features but decreased vacuuming performance. I wouldn't get a roomba unless you value support/warranty the most, irobot vacuums aren't the best anymore but they do support their machines for a long time and support is better than what you will get with roborock/dreame/dyson. Regardless of what you choose, modern robot vacuums will do a good job.

No it's not bad advice, vacuumwars tests are often not representative of real world scenarios and fail to mention some of the degradation modern releases have had over older robot vacuums. To be fair, on his review of the S8, he did mention the reduction in performance over the S7, however, he didn't showcase how bad it is compared to the old S7 (particularly against deep carpets and tiled floors). You can see what I mean on this channel: [https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ](https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ) , the owner uses multiple carpets of different density and materials, uses certified test dust along with other challenges that you'd expect robot vacuums to be able to deal with (tiled floors, hard floors, etc). You can find similar reviews on asian blog posts (chinese & japanese in particular), where roborock gets way more critiques for overhyping their products and reducing the quality of new releases while having zero after-sales support.

Software wise, yes, manufacturers will purposely stop delivering software updates to older robot vacuums and ship them only to newer flagships. Hardware wise, I have had much better luck with my units, I bought my s7 when it was released and its still working fine with no obvious issues.

The roborock S7 has objectively the best performance while keeping some autonomy (dock station, etc). Newer units have more bells and whistles but are worse at vacuuming (better at mopping, generally). The s7 is fairly 'old' by now, but you can see the raw benchmarks of new vacuums to realize that... yes, new units are slightly more hands-free but are worse at cleaning. The Dyson Vis Nav is a good choice if: \- You find it on sale (799 - 899). \- Your house is relatively clean (not a lot of objects and all that). \- You value raw vacuuming performance above everything else (it's the only vacuum that has about the same performance of a handheld device). No dock station, but you can avoid emptying the dust container for several weeks since dust gets fairly compacted. Regarding puke, new units have cameras and advertise fancy AI, but whether the robot detects the mess is a gamble, you might be lucky once and have the robot miss the second time. The only vendor that used to have (still has, maybe?) some protection against this was irobot and iirc they only covered poop messes, so puke/pee was not covered by their warranty.

Reddit Icon
pamfrada • about 2 months ago

Understood, I was in a similar situation (in my case, it was a family member with OCD, vacuuming more than 7 times a day. Given the decorative objects, the vis nav is likely not a good fit. I'd say the roborock s7 is the best solution if your mom is constantly cleaning, especially if she owns a dyson with laser. New robot units will make the floor look clean to the naked eye, however, not a single one will clean traces of fine dust that lasers highlight (or that you'd notice walking bare foot). I have tested many of the new models and I keep going back to either the vis nav or the S7, these two are the only ones that have decent vacuuming performance. There is one tiny exception to this rule, which is that new units while worse at vacuuming, make up for the performance loss with the upgraded mopping, so depending on your floor, you might not notice the degraded vacuuming performance if you run both mopping and vacuuming at the same time. I made a thread about this a few months ago (complaining about the degradation in vacuuming performance), the tl;dr is that people on reddit don't care and just want something that works constantly. The sentiment on youtube seems to be slightly different with more people complaining about the numbers though. Hi everyone, I have a Roborock S7, and even though I clean it regularly, it often looks like the photos I’ve attached after just one(!) or two cleaning runs. Long hair, in particular, seems to be a huge issue – it constantly wraps around the main brush and even the small front wheel. I don’t have an auto-empty dock, so I clean the robot entirely by hand. At this point, I feel like I’m putting more effort into maintaining the robot than I would if I just vacuumed manually. I’ve tried everything: cleaning it more frequently, taking precautions like removing hair beforehand, but nothing seems to help. I wouldn't say that my flat is dirtier than average. Has anyone had similar experiences? Do you have any tips to fix this issue, or should I just start looking for an alternative? I’m seriously questioning if the robot is still worth it, considering how much time I spend cleaning it. Looking forward to your thoughts and advice!

Well bird digestive systems are a bit different from a dogs. They move food through their gut so fast it doesn't have time to ferment or develop a smell unless they are sick. The vac/mop robot has detachable mopping pads that can be machine washed though. I don't know how well it works with dog urine but they generally look brand new after a wash. The pads do wear out over time but most of mine have lasted all 4 years I've had them.

Coming from the S7, I’m genuinely impressed how fast and how far the vacuum and mopping robots have improved over such a short time. For me the best perk is that I no longer need to interact with the robot ( topping up water tank and frequent manual mop cloth change). I understand that the Z70 is essentially the 10R with an added arm. The robot mostly recognises fabric such as towel and socks as object it could pick up and put into the designated storage bin. It did false identify the piano legs as a fabric today. Not sure why. Since the identification is not 100%, the robot does not automatically pick the objects up during cleaning but pins the item in the map and allow you to send the robot to pick up the object and place it into the storage bin. Still learning how to use it. If anyone has useful tips, please share

Yea I had the basic S7 and a charging dock. Auto cleaning, binning, and water top up docks wasn’t a thing then. As I mentioned, one of the pain points I had with the S7 was the need to regularly maintains the robot; clear bin, top up water tank, clean and change mop cloth, clear hair stuck on rollers and brush. The latest models Z70/10R with dock eliminates all these now (I hope it does!)

I have a Roborock S7 and manually empty the dust bin and change the mop pad before each run. It’s super easy and pretty satisfying to see all the stuff that got picked up. Mop pads get tossed into laundry with shop towels and cleaning rags. I bought a pack of spare mop pads off Amazon a few years ago and they were cheap and have held up well. As for the mapping, I moved things like chairs, plant stands and other small things off the floor for the initial pass so it could get a better idea of the layout. I left big things like tables, bookcases and heavy furniture that I’ll never move. When I run the robot sometimes I move the smaller things, sometimes I don’t. It’s smart enough to know when something is in the way and just works around it. The next time if that thing isn’t there it just cleans as normal.

I have the Roborock S7 I got on sale for Amazon Black Friday (believe $380?) and I love it. It includes a water mop pad which maybe not cleans super well but removes all footprints on our wood floors which looks like. I bought it in 2023 and still going as brand new. I do replace parts like the brushes and filters when the app tells me it’s due for replacement; although I double the time as I think the parts are fine. Have about 550hr+ runtime and working like a charm. When we update our basement I’ll move this one down there and replace with a new one. Roborock sells some with auto dust unloading and auto mopping which imo is a lot more money. I’m happy with manually emptying since it’s good to inspect the robot every so often and get any hair out of the brushes.

S7 / S8 Ultra docks have an extra complex mop washer which is not needed in a Qrevo. It tends to get messy in the dock tray and the thing is hard to clean because it's not removable. Furthermore it makes the docks expensive and thus less economical. If you can't stand your appliance being covered with residue, don't buy. The revo tech needs less maintenance.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I also have the S7 and felt it was time for a change. I first tried the L40s, but I just couldn’t get past the battery life and duration. Then I moved on to the Curv, hoping it would be an improvement, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations either. This week, I’m planning to give the 3i and Mova V50 a try. If they end up being similar to my previous experiences, I might just go back to my trusty S7. It seems like robot vacuums are still figuring out the right balance between AI integration and effective mopping techniques.

Def not Roborock. We bought a S7 and it broke down just a little over a year. Sent it into to get repaired and had to pay to some weird PayPal account. And it was packaged very poorly when shipped back. Then it broke down again after a couple of months and we gave up on it.

I found it out after my 2yo roborock s7 ingested water and broke, I got full refund before they even recieved the item back. But I do recommend you stick to roborock official seller on amazon. As an S7 and S8 owner I fully agree. But what is important to keep in mind is thatbthe robot does not mean you stop cleaning yourself, you just do it less often. For general day to day maintenance robota do a fantastic job but they do not replace your normal mob or vacuum

Well, look at your hand, their paws are nearly as big as that. So if it is rainy/muddy outside, they carry a lot of dirt into the house. Theoretically we could stop them at the door and clean their paws but even then they will retain dirt on them and carry it inside. Specially also with their longer fur all over the body that you can not really clean/dry properly outside. So if you want your floors to be somewhat halfway clean, you need to mop them daily (at least once). So yes, for us, the mopping robot makes a lot of sense and is a real help. Regarding the Bernese breed, I feel it is important to keep in mind that the breed was created to be a guard dog for farms. So they need training and clear guidelines. One of their downsides is also that they tend to not live very long. If you put in the time to train them, they are amazing dogs. If people get fooled into seeing a big, lazy cuddly dog, that tends to be when they are negativly surprised. A breed that easily comes in at around 50 to 60 kg requires some work put into their training, otherwise the dog will walk you.

I moved away from iRobot into a Roborock S7. In my opinion the 980 was peak Roomba but these newer models are just junky. The Roborock S7 is solid. It seems to pick up just as well as the 980 but with the added benefit of mopping. I've got app experience with iRobot, Neato and Roborock. The Roborock app works quite well and I find it easy to set up no go zones. It does a good job reminding me when it's time to replace the brush or clean the sensors. It's also nice that Roborock has an online store with plenty of OEM replacement parts if they are needed.

It sounds like you need a versatile robot that can handle both mopping and vacuuming without making your rugs and carpets wet. I've tried the Roborock S7, which has a strong vacuum feature combined with a mopping system that lifts when it detects carpet, keeping everything dry. Another option to consider is the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo series, known for its advanced mapping and smart home integration, which helps optimize cleaning patterns. Both offer features that reduce the risk of wet carpets. If you're still unsure, checking out reviews on ConsumerRating could give you a clearer idea since they cover a wide range of models and features.

Knowing the cleaning area size and mapping needs can also guide your pick. Happy vacuuming!

Seriously, it dodges toys and shoes like they’re hot lava. I had a jolly good experience with that one when my ol' Ecovacs decided to become a chair magnet. But I got a friend who swears by their new Ecovacs Deebot X1, even says it sings when it dodges socks. I have had a Roborock S7 for the last 2 years and before that I had a Samsung for like 3 years (no emptying dock station). Both purchased as clearance items after either Black Friday deals or Christmas left overs at larger retailers box stores. I have 3 large dogs - hardwood floor, minimal door mats, and tile in bathrooms only. I love love love having them!!!! They have helped me so much! In areas that my dogs are in the most, I split the room themselves into 2 sections in the map. That way it goes back to empty itself and does not overwhelm the vacuum. I still have to bust out my shark vacuum to go under furniture that it does not fit under. I haven’t even tried the moping feature yet!! Ugh— not sure why but gotta get on it.

The narwal freo z ultra and freo x ultra both have anti tangle brushes. In my 1+ months of using both of them, no hairs has ever got stuck in the brush or the axle. My wife has super long hair which always annoys me - gets stuck on the regular vacuums brush and the roborock s7 (axles, not on the rollers). But with the narwal, I never had to clean them once. Narwal does a pretty good job of vacuuming and mopping but the app isn't mature and the same goes for the robots themselves. They have some quirks - the mapping/ map updating kinda sucks sometimes and both the robots I had to re-map the house at least 2-3 times. Also, splitting rooms or modifications to the map also has some quirks that annoy me so much. I also had some concerns on privacy so I returned the freo z, still have the freo x, will use it for a bit and decide. The only thing holding me from returning the narwals was/is the anti tangle brush.

I agree with luikiedook but am nervous of Dreame hardware reliability. Roborock is my favorite brand but I recently picked up a Eufy S1 Pro. It has been amazing. I have a Berner and a Husky but haven’t had any tangles in the short time I’ve owned it. My Roborock S7 has lasted for years, is still going and feel their flagships will still do the same. I know OP doesn’t have much carpet but for those that see this: I recommend Duo-divide for hard floor and duo-roller for carpet. Interesting fact, Roomba pulls more hair out of the carpet in one pass. Doesn’t matter because it’s also left on top of the carpet.

I have the same model and can agree it is awesome. The only downsides: - Once a two months or so it gets crazy and the map vs reality is offset by half a meter or even more. Roborock gets completely lost, avoiding empty space as it thinks it's a wall and hitting to walls thinking this is the path to the next room. Restoring the map from backup solves the problem. - Once I restore the map from backup, all routines are unusable - they do not work and must be deleted and redone. - It does not automatically avoid the heating vents on the floor and gets stuck on it eventually. I have to use the "no go zones" in each room.

Vaccum robots are a must have if you have ever had one, you will never want to be without one again, especially if you have pets and fur and dust collects rather quick. They clean really good, you will be surprised and they easily reach places which would be hard to get to with a normal vacuum like under the bed or sofa. Even after months and years of only letting the robot do the work, I can‘t really spot alot, I would want to clean by hand except some really hard dried stains in the kitchen. Maintenance is very low, I have had my S7 for years and the only thing I do is empty the bin of the dock every other week, get long hair tangles off of the brush, wash the filter and swipe the sensors every month or so. Didn‘t have to replace anything yet. For newer models like my 10R I have to fill and empty the water tanks every other week and empty the dust bag probably every ~3 months i expect. It has a different brush design so there are no more tangles on them. In terms of obstacles, that‘s pretty much the main reason why I added the 10R to my other floor where my cat and his toys are, it has great obstacle avoidance.

I am living the same nightmare! And each time I start tending towards a vacuum not from roborock, I remember this is nearly impossible to find any spare parts for non roborock models. With roborock vacuums it is not that easy either but I recently found (easily) an original replacement fan for my roborock S7. Unfortunately I broke something else just before finishing my repair, hence the research... I am currently considering the Qrevo Edge the most because it seems to be good enough at obstacle avoidance and obviously way better then my S7 in that regards considering it has no obstacle avoidance whatsoever. But it seems that I might have a better quality/price ratio with models from other brands (with poorer spare parts availability). Does anybody have any input on spare parts availability for all those brands? (I am based in the EU) If my S7 needed a fan replacement after 4 years, I would be reassured knowing a 800-1000 vacuum could be repairable 4 or 5 years from now.

I’ve had the S7 for 2 years, and the S4 I gave to my MIL after upgrading (hers still works perfectly). It’s a fantastic machine! Mopping function is decent but not fully replacing manual mopping, just reduces how often I need to do it. Black Friday is coming up, so I’m sure there will be good deals.

I’m happy with the S7. The docking station of the newer models is a little too large, and adding that level of complexity raises concerns for me. Happy to see what happens in 5 years, as by then there might be some big improvements that are worth the upgrade. More likely, I’d consider looking into a dedicated robot mop if it gets great reviews.

Very worth it to me rather than vacuuming daily and I’m still shocked at how much hair gets picked up. 2) Don’t run it when you aren’t home. I have a different model than what you’re asking about, so I can’t answer that question. On my s7, it’s easier if I pick up all the cat toys and put them away, rather than having them get stuck, jamming the robot, and then having to go pull the toy out and resume.

I've got a Roborock S7, so anyway my counter points * It does not have any features that require any more maintenance than lower models. Basically the trash container needs to be cleaned, mop cleaned, water filled. Basically what you'd expect from a vac/mop combo. Errors usually just involve cleaning a sensor. * It can map more than one floor, so your point is moot * I can just carry the robot up to the other floor and it works without a base * The run time is plenty, but I guess I don't have a huge house. It can return to the base and recharge, then begin cleaning again when it has enough charge to finish, so no big deal. * The house doesn't need to be clean but it does need small clutter picked up. I don't have a problem with that because I would have to pick up the clutter anyways, as part of maintaining a clean home * Noise levels.. its kinda loud sure, but thats how any vac is. Can solve it by not being home or on the same level when cleaning. It also adjusts suction so that its not as loud on hard floor, which is nice. * Emptying the trash takes 30 seconds, not a big deal since I only need to do it once every few weeks * There's no camera so its not uploading images of anything, I don't really care if a Chinese company knows the layout of my house anyway. * It doesn't require perfect furniture arrangement because it'll just go around things and adapt

Eufy is pretty good and great value for a robot that includes self cleaning mop. But I will say that the robot is a bit dumb in attempting to get over transitions between different height floors, compared to a Roborock S7 that I've used in the same space. My kitchen and bathroom tile was a centimeter higher than my hardwood floor in the hallway. My Eufy x10 would keep trying unsuccessfully to cross that threshold and eat up its entire battery. Sometimes the x10 will make it onto the higher tile, but then not realize it and navigate back off the tile. I've found that putting the robot into mopping mode helps it get over such floor transitions more easily. Or if I am in vacuum only mode, if I'm home I might give it a firm shove with my foot over the threshold. They contacted support asking for better programming to get over thresholds, but a half year later, I don't see any improvement. The robot needs to at least realize it can't cross the threshold and give up rather than keep trying... I have since moved to a renovated home with no such transitions between rooms, and the x10 is great.

At the time of Roborock S7, I hadn't heard much about ecovacs, dreametech and others that are up there now. Longevity, support, etc. considerations I went with S7. Now though it's a mess. There's really no right or wrong. They all do the same thing +/-. Even the most basic new comer has auto empty/dry story time etc. I'll tell you though. I had crappy roller mop that didn't do any "smart" things. I hated cleaning it. Not saying it's the best or anything but with Roborock F25 ACE and Dyson V15 I can do the whole cleanup full house in no time vs hours of cleaning of robot cleaner that I already have to do a pre-cleanup for all the toys we have around. If I leave them, they'll get chewed, tangled up.. it'll take robo 5x the amount of time to navigate around crap and by the time it cleans up some rooms it'll run out of battery. Sure, I still use it when things are tidy and it cuts down on my efforts but for quick clean up, standalone mop/vacuum is a must for me, that I discovered..

I have owned only Roborocks, including the S7 that we wore out completely, and our current lineup including a pair of basic S8s (charging dock only, no fancy features) and a Saros 10R. I am very familiar with robovacs! I am of the opinion that the S8 vacuums rugs and carpets much, much better than any other robovac in my experience. Hard floors and mopping are basic and relatively easy, and most robovacs do a decent job with them. Our home has a lot of foot traffic, pets and people with long hair. My basic test for how well a robovac vacuums is to have one vacuum our three carpeted bedrooms on its maximum suction setting. When it is done, I send in one of our S8s to cover the same area using its maximum suction setting. Whichever robovac goes first should pick up more dust, dirt and hair, right? Our S8s consistently come back with four to five times the amount of debris than any other robovac I have ever sent in first, including our fancy new Saros 10R. I have even sent in one S8 first, followed by the second one. The first one will bring back a full dustbin. The second one will be almost empty. There are many other similar situations that I have observed but do not test regularly, so I cannot really use them as any kind of fair comparison, but, observationally, the S8 seems to very consistently out perform any other robovac when it comes to cleaning rugs and carpets. Obviously, there are many other areas that are important when it comes to robovacs, such as navigation, mopping etc. I am not looking at these areas at the moment. As a vacuum cleaner only, our S8s out perform our Saros 10R so significantly and consistently, that I really only use our Saros 10R to vacuum under stuff that the S8s do not fit under. Otherwise, the Saros 10R is a mopping machine in our home. I have even consulted Roborock customer service extensively in order to find ways to improve its vacuuming ability without success. I am curious if anyone else has made any meaningful comparison between the S8s vacuuming abilility and any other robovacs. It is my gold standard for rugs and carpets right now, and nothing else has been able to come anywhere close it it. With how quickly our home gets dirty and full of hair, I run our robovacs daily through our entire house. Especially our S8s have very high milage on them. Has anyone seen any kind of robovac that out performs the S8s vacuuming ability in any kind of meaningful real-world test?

We had to retire our S7 due to excessive wear. That why I bought our first S8. Our robovacs get used a lot! Both of our current S8s have over 200,000 square feet (19,000 square meters) of history under their belts and are probably due for new batteries soon. The S7 is a workhorse and does very well. My daughter has one too and loves it. You would absolutely love an S8 for vacuuming rugs and carpets. It will pick up much more dust, dirt, hair, cat litter and other debris than the S7. There are fancier robovacs out there that do all sorts of amazing stuff, but I have yet to see one that out performs the S8 as a vacuum cleaner only. Even the Dreame X50, which has a very similar vacuuming module with much higher suction, does not do a better job. If you do decide to try an S8, I can only recommend the base model with charging dock only. The fancier versions with auto mop washing can be problematic as the mop washing system gets clogged with mud, and it is a pain in the neck to clean them at times. There are better robovac mopping systems available that are much easier to maintain than the ones on the fancier S8s. But one cannot beat them for vacuuming in my experience, although someone did talk about the Dyson 360 above. It may be a great option to explore.

Most fancy new robovacs with auto detangling rollers and insane pascal suction numbers cannot vacuum nearly as well as your S7. I think your S7 can even hold its own in terms of mopping ability with these fancy new models. The only thing one gets for a lot of money is convenience. But, if it can't vacuum well and mop reasonably well, I don't want it! The Saros 10R does perform better with navigation once the paranoid obstacle and pet avoidance settings are turned off. This fixes a lot of problems with them. However, this makes its navigation and obstacle avoidance abilities only a very small incremental improvement over lidar. I still prefer lidar. Why would one want to replace a trusty S7 without a good reason? It is an excellent machine! I am not trying to criticize, I am just curious. No matter how fancy and expensive a robovac is, it is still a very primitive machine made with very cheap plastic parts. It has barely enough computing power and memory to get the job done. Personally, I think people expect too much from them no matter how much they cost. I hope you find a replacement that meets your needs!

Wow! You are right! They are gone! I was just thinking of adding a third one to my collection just two days ago. That is really sad! Now it looks like Roborock doesn't make any model that lives up to my vacuuming standards. Sorry! If any S7s are still available this would be my next choice.

You can customize all of the stuff you are looking for with your S7 in the app akready. Create routines with custom settings for various areas in your house. It is quick and easy to do. Use these routines in your schedule. Ask Google for specific directions if you do not know how to create a routine. It will tell you. I hope this helps!

It is in the Roborock app for your S7'. Find Routine. It is in the same place you find Full, Rooms, Zone, and, if course, Routine for your cleaning settings. It is on the right and side just above the start button. You will be hard pressed to find a newer robovac that can vacuum better than what you already have. The S7s are excellent machines! While you are in there, make sure your robovac is updated to the latest firmware and you are using the latest version of the app. This is probably the best place to start before you look for anything else. Start with Settings and Firmware updates. Make sure you are on the latest version. Turn on auto updates. Then go to the Play Store and make sure your app is up to date.

The fillowing is from your original post. 1. Defined by room (sorry, you cannot do a zone) 2. Selected mode 3. Selected intensity 4. Triggered by 1 tap These four things together are a routine in the Roborock app. This you can already do in your app night now. I will send more details and photos in a moment.

How wonderful to have the opportunity to see the Roborock app in German! Thank you! It is very strange that you do not have the routine option in the German version of the app. Very strange indeed! I know the American version has this feature for the S7. If I change my language to German in the app, I still have the option for, "Programm." I use routines for everything. My app allows me to create up to ten routines. It is very rare for me to use any other options because everything I need to do has been set up as a routine. I can completely customize the cleaning of any room or collection of rooms. I can even create a routine to clean the same room more than once if I want to. I can then use these routines in my schedules. Now I understand why you are so frustrated about having to press a lot of buttons. I would feel the same way! I am sorry I could not help your further! Viel Glück mit Ihrem Roboterstaubsauger! Ich hoffe, Sie finden eine Lösung, die für Sie funktioniert!

I am reading this conversation with interest, because my beloved 960 died recently. Out of all my robo\`s, it is the one that picked up the most dirt. My S7 does not even come close. So, I am looking to replace the 960 with something a little more modern with better navigation app. Really want keep out zones. Having trouble picking something out. Mainly want good vacuuming, all hardwood floors. No carpets.

I have been with Deebot and Roborock for the last 8 years and recently bought a Yeedi M12 Ultra and absolutely love it. It is right around $600 right now on Amazon and keeps our hardwood and carpeted downstairs looking great. The machine itself is quiet, the base station is a little louder but does a great job emptying the vacuum, washing the mops and refilling the mopping solution. We have 2 kids with long hair and 2 large dogs, none of which have managed to tangle up the vacuum yet - a feat our Roborocks never accomplished. In your price range the Yeedi is ranked #2 by vacuum wars (link: [Best Robot Vacuum: Top 20 Best Robot Vacuums in 2024 | Vacuums Wars](https://vacuumwars.com/best-vacuum-cleaners/robot-vacuums/)), behind the Eufy X10 - but the $200 more was not worth it for the menial improvements. Hope this helps, happy to answer any other questions you might have! I spent way too long researching robot vacuums/mops and now have a bunch of knowledge in my head that I no longer need! Amazon link to the Yeedi we bought: [Amazon.com - Yeedi M12 Ultra Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop, Upgrade 11800Pa Strong Suction, ZeroTangle Technology, TruEdge Deep Mopping, Auto Mop Washing/Drying, Auto-Lift Mopping, Mini Omni Station, White](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBQ8BHDG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1). Edit - The mopping works fantastic, leaps and bounds better then the Roborock S7 we had before. The color of the used water in the base station is concerning, even after we manually mop the house, I can positively say the mopping is phenomenal on the Yeedi. The app is not perfect, it has AM/PM mixed up but beyond that it does everything we would need/expect from a vacuum app.

generally I'd agree with their ratings. of course, like all review sites, they only use one sample, and usually the earlier firmware version released. we've never had hair tangle issues (or since robot vacuums and regular vacuums have the same issue, it never seemed like a big deal to clean them once in a while), but they seem to prioritize it. I'm still not sold on docking stations. Many a time I'll find something stuck in my roborock s7 (piece of cardboard, whatever) that I wouldn't see if I used a dock. Vacuum wars certainly ranks good docks higher.

I started with a dumb robot and spent a lot of time 'robot proofing' the house so it wouldn't get stuck on cords, or trying to go under sofas and dressers. Adding bumpers under couch edges, raising up furniture with foam pads so it could go under, etc. and it still got stuck somewhere random 20% of the runs. the lidar and mapping go / no go zones completely changes the ability to complete the job. That is easier than dealing with a dumb robot. My roborock S7 rarely gets stuck. A roborock Q5 is $140! You could buy a new one if it broke after warranty and it'd still be cheap.

yeah, no carpets or pets, then you just need to much sure it can complete its run without getting stuck somewhwere. lots of objects that are in random places each day like toys? or fixed location like cables, planters, etc? as long as you get mapping / keep out zones, any robot will handle that. my roborock s7, (just lidar and bump sensors, no obstacle avoidance cameras) does fine. once in a while it'll eat a shoe lace and not complete the run. how crazy high are the thresholds? most robots can handle 2 cm, if more, then look at replacing it or getting one of the newer robots designed with 'legs' to raise up.

I want to add, that the 'drying' of the S7 models is only room temperature air so the drying runs for minimum 2 hours with a quiet but noticeable fan. That is a bit annoying for us, because it lives near our dining table. I would go for the newer models with warm air, because the drying process is much shorter.

We have four roborock S7’s running in our 5,000 sqft office. Bought them since they first came out years ago. They run every day. We just replace the regular maintenance parts - rollers, mop pad, brush and clean sensors. Only last year did we replace the battery for all 4. Other than that, no issue at all, rock solid, very pleased that we also have them for our homes too. We are considering the Eufy S1 Pro with water hookups. We have wood floors and it would be nice to have a roller mop that cleans better than what roborock has. If Roborock has a roller mop with water hookups, we prefer to stick with them, the app is convenient and we like the product.

I have a roborok 7 and I have white furred dogs that shed constantly. I run the vac every day and it does a good job to keep the white tumble weeds down from my dogs. I only have 2 rugs and every other day I will use the hand vacuum. It makes my house look clean and keeps the dust down so I also don't have to dust as often. I can tell a difference than the older models that randomly moved about your space. One of these days they will be able to handle the rugs! I hope...

Are you looking for only roborock? The roborock MaxV has no extending side brush for corner cleaning. Roborock’s side and edge cleaning algorithm is also rather conservative and won’t extend the side brush out to clean closer to edges if there’s like a toe kick or swing the extended mop(which dreame/MOVA does and Narwal does this too but with the mops only). > better mobility and avoiding obstacles Roborock’s obstacle avoidance lags behind other robots, even at this price range. TvT I’d check out the dreame l40 ultra or the MOVA p10 pro ultra if cheaper than the MaxV. Turns out it’s the p50 with the broken front wheel issue.

It's my first robo vac for me it costed 850 euros 3 months ago. I did spec compared it. A friend bought the maxv they are also happy with it but it's more expensive here. It does hot water mop washing at the base station, hot air drying. Mop extend, arm extend and LDS lidar, light 3d sensor etc. 11k suction. I turned of carpet boost. It kinda damaged my patch work animal post carpets lmao too strong. I have two cats, mopping is very good house is spotless Roborock has a different mopping system. You can get tricut brush for dreame too. Definitely check other options L40 Ultra doesn't have water spill detection featuee and can't detect water bowls for pets (must set no go zones for them)

I have a Roborock self emptying one now and mostly got that because it could vacuum and mop. Before I had a neato bot vac and dir just vacuuming the neato is far superior. That did a way better job of throughly heavy duty vacuuming, when I had that vacuum I had 3 German shepherds and a black lab so I definitely needed a ton of suction and power that didn’t clog, get tangled etc. but now I live in the north and with snow and ice and mud I needed mopping too. I also now only have one German shepherd, my other dogs don’t shed as much. But I also have a pot belly pig that always brings in mud. So the Roborock works great for that but for straight vacuum and suction power the neato is better.

Don't spend $1000 on one, go for one around $350-$400 with an auto emptying dock. Roborock is my favorite. You'll get 99% the same features and function as the $1k one, and if you like it then you can get a second one and still be under $1k!

We have two shedding dogs and we love our Roborocks. The first one, while it was fantastic filled kinda quickly (not their fault, our dogs shed A LOT) so it was a minor inconvenience to empty it halfway through it's cleaning 2700sqft. My brother became disabled so I gave him that one for his apartment. He loves it and his helper can empty it and help him with harder care items so it saves him money (he was initially being charged an hour every day for vacuuming, now he's not). The second one I got was self emptying so it can continue all by itself and I really appreciate it. I only have to empty the main basin once a week and that's it. Super convenient and does a fantastic job cleaning. I used to vacuum at least twice a day to stay on top of the hair. Now I do a "deep" vacuum once a week- baseboards, under carpets, etc. Roborock gave me hours of my life back and that's not an exaggeration.

Second the OP.  I'd recommend getting a Roborock or similar with self emptying vacuum. It works best on hardwood floors. Carpet not so much. Look into robots with high suction power. Like the other OP, you will still need to dyson up nooks and crannies manually, but the ability to schedule frequent self vacuum in high traffic areas cuts down on your workload significantly.  The self mopping feature imo is not worth it, but maybe the newest models have improved.  From experience, you will want robots that can detect animals (I've seen videos where the robot runs over the dogs tails, gets stuck, and terrifies the dogs). Also look for ones that can detect objects like poop, so you don't come home to a Jackson pollock painting. Look into the clearance height of the robot as well, and compare to your furniture if you are looking to have the robot go under couches and stuff. For example, our roborock barely fits under the couch, and even with 1 cm clearance, will avoid going under the couch if it detects the under-couch fabric is hanging too low (we fixed this by reholstering the bottom of the couch). Worth mentioning if you work from home that the self emptying vacuum feature can get loud, but it is usually very brief and you should be able to schedule emptying times. The robot vacuum companies get you on the replacement parts, which are not cheap. You do get what you pay for though, and routine maintenance (cleaning sensors, replacing brushes, untangling hair from rollers) goes a long way in longevity. I haven't found a robot vacuum that does not pick up hairs in the dog roller yet, so expect to periodically open up the robot to remove hair (usually very easy). For replacement parts, you can go third party for cheaper. Especially so when buying replacements for big brand/popular models. For example, you can get an unofficial 5 pack of vacuum bags for the self emptying vacuum for the same cost as 1 official one (or something like that). For carpets, I'd just go with those manual carpet brushes. Picks up way more hair more efficiently than any vacuum. Just my 2 cents.

For the price (£250) I am very impressed with mine. Its got LiDAR, a mop, empties itself, etc. Its really neat to watch on the app as it goes about your house and maps it out. Its only gotten stuck twice, and both times were on the same chair that has horizontal bars at floor level that it can get over if it runs at it head on, but can high side itself if approaching from an angle. Definitely does not replace vacuuming as a whole though as it just cant physically get into the corners, and the vacuum itself isnt enough to really suck stuff out of the carpet, more just pick up things on top. I treat it more like a broom than anything else, but having a pet it helps me keep on top of things.
