I got a Roborock S7+ barely used for $150 on ebay. It vacuums, it mops, and it makes my life easier. Worth it.
Definitely don’t need to be spending 800 on a good one. I have a Roborock S7+, it cleans very well plus mops and has an auto empty dock, it’s fantastic. Check out Geekbuying they have great deals on them
If it’s just about reliable carpet cleaning, I’d stick with something like the Roborock S7 or S7+ if you can find one, solid vacuums, last years, and handle cat hair really well. No need to chase the newest bells and whistles.

It depends on your budget, but you might want to check the Roborock S7 (standard dock), it has strong suction for crumbs and hair, built-in mopping, anti-tangle brushes, and a low-profile dock that won’t crowd your space. Just empty the bin and rinse the mop occasionally, and it handles daily cleaning with very little effort.
You might want to check the[ Roborock S7 series](https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumsTips/comments/1qxaugi/best_affordable_selfemptying_robot_vacuums_for/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). A lot of self-emptying bots sound great on paper but get annoying fast; this one’s mostly boring in a good way. It docks and empties reliably, navigation is solid, and you’re not constantly fixing hair tangles or errors. Feels genuinely hands-off once it’s set up.
Rubber rollers matter a lot for pet hair. Our Roborock S7+ barely tangles and the self-empty dock only needs attention every few weeks
I just got the Eufy E28 and it is quieter than the S7+ that I was using previously. The auto emptying is definitely loud though. I have a lot of pets and have had zero tangles so far with the split brush, which was the biggest reason I upgraded vacuums at all. I am happy with how little I've had to touch it, which has been nothing at all after the initial filling of water. The obstacle avoidance is good so far for my cords and such, but I cant speak to something like the edge of a blanket yet. It has a feature that goes over dirty areas again if it senses a heavily soiled area. There seems to be a feature where the vacuum will inspect the area after its done cleaning to see if there are stains left behind.
Whirlpool’s solid and reliable, especially for dryers. Samsung/LG are flashy but can be hit or miss and LG is usually better of the two. For robot vacs, check out Roborock Q5+ or S7+..it is great with hair, better than Ecovacs IMO. Stick to budget-friendly, easy-to-move stuff since it’s a rental.
I got a eufy e20 a month ago. So far, I love it. I didn't want a mopping feature, so it fit the bill. It is replacing a roomba s7 that died 1 month after the warranty expired. It mapped like a dream, super quick. I could never get the roomba to go into my bedroom voluntarily. I run it 5 days a week and it had never gotten stuck, unlike the roomba. It does a great job on the pet hair. My floors are all hardwood.
