"I also didn't care too much about mopping, but the roborock is so good at it that I do it every night anyway and it keeps the muddy dogprints off the floor. ... The self-cleaning mop thing is great."

I think the sonic mopping just cleans better. ... And I have 5 dogs, a cat and live in a dusty, desert area so I put them through the test."

"And for whatever reason it does all the same stuff as the S8 max or whatever they call it, just with spinny mops instead of vibrating, for much cheaper."
"The robot vacuum companies get you on the replacement parts, which are not cheap."
I recommend Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, It is a top-tier option with powerful suction, AI obstacle avoidance, and fully automated maintenance (self-emptying, self-washing, and self-refilling). Ideal for hands-free cleaning with excellent navigation and deep carpet + hard floor performance.
r/RobotVacuums • What's the best robot vacuum? ->I’ve had my S8 MaxV Ultra for a few months now and the self cleaning dock function works fantastically for me. Inspected it the other day to see if it needed to be cleaned and it was basically spotless, and I run the robot everyday.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Not worth it. Paid full price for the S8 maxv ultra last year and It not worth it I can tell you. Go cheaper.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->Until these later models came out, the S8 maxv ultra was my favorite
r/RobotVacuums • I write about robot vacuums for a living. AMA. ->1. Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and 3i S10 Ultra. 2. Switchbot K10+ Pro/Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra 3. Dreame X50/Saros 10 4. Most of these robots are produced in Asia. As such, support is rough for most of the companies. They go on holiday and the support department shuts down entirely. Their support is on overnight for us in the US. If support was the biggest issue, I'd look at US based brands.
r/RobotVacuums • I write about robot vacuums for a living. AMA. ->I'm surprised how much I actually enjoy these threads. So I'm going to kill two of yours and reintroduce one. I don't think those are the right q revos to look at... If anything I'd say the max V. But I can make it easy because if you can afford the robots that you're talking about I think it comes down to four models. The s8 maxv ultra which shakes out to be the best of the S8 line. The curv, which is also excellent, but slightly different from the s8. Saros 10 Saros 10r Do you have thresholds? If so, get the 10. Do you have a lot of obstacles on your floor? Like a fan and lamps and furniture and other crap small spaces that the robot needs to go into? If so, get a 10r, even if you have thresholds. You don't have thresholds or small spaces, I would consider the S8 or curv, because they're excellent, and dramatically cheaper. And excepting the issue with thresholds, I'm not highly sold that the Saros are $700 better. And the best part is, there is no wrong answer. The main differentiator is the shape of the tower and that the curv has twin spinning mops and the s8 has a vibrating mop pad. Because you have ceramic tile, and I do too, that means you have grime. For that reason I recommend the s8. I believe the vibrating pad does better on grind
r/RobotVacuums • Stuck On Deciding Which Robot To Get ->I'm always going to go with the vibrating pad. It just does seem to get grind up better even on my hardwoods.
r/RobotVacuums • Stuck On Deciding Which Robot To Get ->Hi. I review robots for a living. That store link was super helpful. My advice is simple: get a roborock. I think the S8 Maxv Ultra is a fantastic model, around $1000. The Saros 10/10R are also there, and also great. Personally, i prefer a mop pad, so I'd say the 10, not the 10R. The prices are close enough that I'd say the Saros might be worth these few $$. I don't enjoy either model you named...the Mova has cheap hardware, and the X9 was incredibly Meh in performance.
r/RobotVacuums • Trying to overcome the mind-boggling world of Robot Vacuum ->this is easy! Freo Z uses too much water, you have to refill it ALL THE TIME. hard pass. Dreame x40 is.. good... but not great. The S8 MaxV Ultra is truly great.
r/RobotVacuums • Help me choose: Narwal Freo Z Ultra vs. Roborock S8 MaxV vs. Dreame X40 Ultra. ->Sure. Let me talk about it a little. I think the S8MVU stays that high priced because it continues to have such favor. It was most reviewers top pick (I don't have another explanation, this is a guess). And honestly, it shares most of the functionality in the Saros. Don't worry about the Pa (suction)... its not as important, by far, [https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum](https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum) The Saros is a jump ahead, but usually, I feel its not enough of a jump ahead to justify the 700$ difference between the S8MVU and the Saros. I think it's 300$+/- worth. So, if its within that range, go with a Saros. Now, WHICH Saros. the 10 is like the S8, and the 10R like the Qrevo. I prefer the 10 for mopping, and the 10R on navigation. It's a split. Either would likely make you happy. Bottom line: I know its a huge decision, but if you make yourself crazy overthinking it, it's not worth it. Any of these three will be great robots.
r/RobotVacuums • Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy ->Ugh. Roombas. In either floor, I think the answer is an s8 MaxV Ultra or a Saros 10R. Roborock towers, i'm pretty sure, have hepa filters on the tower, and you can replace the fine dust filter on the robot itself as often as you think necessary (it should be cleaned much more often than most people do). Althought the S8 is fantastic, i think the saros might be better in the bedrooms because it uses cameras in addition to the LiDAR, and navigating under beds might be better. In either case, I think you'll be quite happy. Here's the s8: [https://amzn.to/45VQExU](https://amzn.to/45VQExU) and the 10R [https://amzn.to/44xZsHS](https://amzn.to/44xZsHS)
r/RobotVacuums • Prime Day Recommendations by Price Band - These are the robots I'd buy ->This absolutely clocks with my Outlook, which is actually quite reassuring. The S8 Pro was the best that I had ever tested until I tested the S8 maxv ultra and it replaced that.
r/RobotVacuums • Vacuum Wars - Please explain to me ->great news! Almost ANY roborock you get (for that matter, any robot) is going to far surpass your i7 experience. I would not grab the Q5, TBH. There is, actually a very big difference between $500 and $1000 robots, but if I may recommend... I'd say the best CURRENT value on a Roborock is the Curv/Edge, the S8 MaxV Ultra and the QRevo MaxV. While the Saros are great... I don't think they're better \*enough\* than the models listed about to justify the price. Also, I'd wait for Prime Day, regardless. Also, I test robots for a living for Lifehacker, and am not sponsored by anyone, and test robots in my very real house.
r/Roborock • How does one decide which Roborock to get ->ThW s8 line from roborock is great.
r/RobotVacuums • Every Prime Day Robovac and Recommendations ->That s7 is pretty outdated at this point. If you could upgrade to the s8 MaxV Ultra (which is going to be under 1000 on the Roborock site) I'd say go for that over anything else. but if these are the two options, go for the L40. People love the L40... but in comparison to other premium robots. For the current price, its a solid sale.
r/RobotVacuums • First robot vacuum purchase, any strong opinions on these two options? ->i can‘t send it do a chosen room with a chosen programm.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->The floors are still dirty when it's done. I have to mop when it's done. I have textured tiles which might make a difference.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->New? Great deal then. It's basically not worse than Saros if you don't need 8 cm clearance under furniture. The suction power is just numbers. What's practically worse in comparison is that it doesn't have totally zero tangle brush (you'll have to remove hair once a month) and it doesn't have liftable chasis unlike Saros. If you don't mind cleaning the brush sometimes and don't have thresholds higher than 2 cm - you are good to go with S8 MaxV. Saros can also leave mops at dock, but S8 MaxV mitigates it other way by lifting the mops 20mm instead of 8mm in Saros.
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->I have this exact Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra vacuum and it has changed my life. I have vinyl plank flooring, 3 dogs and rugs. It’s the most amazing vacuum mop system ever. I know nothing of the Narwal and it interested me as well but I already had the Roborock. I hope this helps you!
r/RobotVacuums • Narwal Flow or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->This is the worst robot vacuume I've ever owned. It gets stuck on every single thing and finds ANYTHING it can to suck up and get disabled. It hasn't run a full cycle in months because of that. We have hardwood floors and rugs, and this robot seems to "sweep" all of the dirt and cat hair to the edges of all of the rugs for us to have to go and sweep up manually later. Obstacle avoidance is a joke. My last robot was a roomba i7 and it was great. We only upgraded because the mapping was better on this one, it had "better obstacle avoidance" (what a joke) and it could mop without intervention as well as cleaning the mop head on its own. The surface level stuff looks really good (like the maps and mopping stuff), but that stuff is worthless if it can't even do a single vacuume cycle without getting stuck. If I could return this, I would. I hate it. Not to mention the price...... sigh. Maybe I just got a bad one, but this thing is terrible, and I can't understand how all of these reviews look so good all the time. I can't wait to get something different. Let me know if you have any questions.
r/Roborock • Is Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra worth the $$$? ->Switchbot vacuums are not great overall. Consider any of the Roborock models, they are consistently higher rated/better performing. This has which models support matter https://homekitnews.com/2025/04/01/roborock-issues-update-for-matter-support-in-ios-18-4/
r/HomeKit • Best Homekit Supported Robot Vacuums? ->I really just based my decision on cleaning performance, and for my needs and budget Roborock ended up being the best choice. They are on automations/schedules through home assistant so I can’t remember the last time I opened the app. Just checking it now I don’t see adds, but there is a tab for the store
r/HomeKit • Best Homekit Supported Robot Vacuums? ->Unfortunately, robot vacuums are one of those things where the budget versions really aren't going to cut it. You'll only get a decently capable machine if you're willing to shell out quite a bit of money (at least double what you're looking to spend). Right now we have a roborock s8 maxv ultra, and it has been a major improvement because with our pups shedding, the house really does need to be vacuumed daily. The cheaper robot vacuums we tried just didn't do a good job of picking the hair up and couldn't hold up to the daily use. I'd say for the time being, you're better off embracing a good handpush vacuum because you'll be able to get much more suction power for a whole lot cheaper.
r/greatpyrenees • Best robot vacuum on a budget? ->I've been really happy with my s8 mvu, but you might want to wait a little while and grab it on sale during prime days. I think i paid $1099 last black Friday.
r/Roborock • S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv? ->Why do you anticipate pet poop in your house? Should be an extreme exception? Now while I knew this version sucked at identifying, I went with the S8 maxv ultra which has better detection.
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->We have the S8 MaxV Ultra with auto fill and drain dock connected to a water supply and drain line. Really really nice to not have to worry about emptying the dirty water reservoir and fill it up.
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->I thought the camera would help it identify obstacles like cables but it’s constantly getting jammed on those and socks and things… I have to clean up before I run it so can’t schedule cleanings.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Go S8 MaxV Ultra if you want top-tier everything. It has the best obstacle avoidance + mopping. If budget matters, Q Revo Master is killer value. Skip the J10/J10R unless you get a crazy deal. CurvX is newer but not fully proven yet imo
r/RobotVacuums • Stuck On Deciding Which Robot To Get ->Vacuum Wars is legit. Go Dreame L20 Ultra or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. They're great for LVT, rugs, clutter, and low maintenance. Should last 3–5 yrs with basic upkeep.
r/RobotVacuums • Vacuum wars recs good? Looking for best low maintenance combo bot I can get ->It's a no Brainer Buy it And saros 10 is better than r because it has vibrating mop pad which are better I use s8 max v ultra Just buy saros 10 asap at this cost
r/Roborock • First time considering to buy robot cleaner. Saros 10 costs 843 USD including tax in United Arab Emirates and there is no 10R version here. Is it worth it for the price? I have a house with minimal carpet it’s 90 percent hard floor ->The non existent plumbing kit for 10R did me away. I choose s8 MaxV Ultra
r/Roborock • Roborock 2025 Prime Day – Save Up to $800 ->I just got the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra during the Prime Day deal to replace my 4-year-old iRobot. The mapping speed is seriously impressive—but when it comes to obstacle avoidance, I’m honestly disappointed. It keeps trying to plow through my dog’s water bowl every time, and it loves to run over extension cords even with an invisible wall set up. If I forget to pick up the cords, it actively seeks them out and eats it. Sometimes when I asked it to clean the full space, it gave up after finishing 2\~3 rooms without any notifications. The app history just shows it finished but the map definitely shows that it did not clean every room . I had to assign the rooms it left manually and start it again. I was under the impression that the S8 series especially the MaxV was supposed to have top-tier obstacle avoidance. Is this normal behavior? It really doesn’t feel much smarter than vacuums from 4 years ago. I’m on the latest firmware (V02.38.50) and debating whether I should just return it. Curious if anyone else has the same experience.
r/Roborock • Is my Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra kind of dumb? ->I just had to RMA my S8 Max V, it’s fixed and is coming back tomorrow. Great company and product.
r/homeowners • What's the best Robot Vacuum value for money on the market rn? ->I have a few different robots. The Dreame X40 has better obstacle avoidance than my S8 MaxV. The S8 MaxV tends to run over small half eaten dog treats whereas the Dreame X40 will avoid them most of the time. My QRevo Slim gets here tomorrow. I'm excited to see if it does better than the Si MaxV. I don't expect it to be different because I think the front facing camera is primarily responsible for small obstacle avoidance that is below the lidar.
r/Roborock • Obstacle Avoidance: Starsight vs Reactive AI? ->S8 MaxV ultra is the best. Not a single regret buying it
r/Roborock • Best roborock vacuum for the value. ->If you have carpets 100% go for a S8 Max V Ultra as the hair pickup on them is nearly twice is good as Saros. Saros is better Ai and obstacle avoidance but not as good as cleaning.
r/Roborock • Saros r10 vs Z70 ->Roborock s8 maxV ultra. We’ve had it since August 2024 and it’s been so freaking reliable. Amazing machine. I’m so glad we waited and went for something high end.
r/homeimprovementideas • Which are the best robot vacuums you'll recommend for pet hair now? ->We have a roborock s8 ultra maxv something. Has a camera, AI and Lidar. Pretty damn good at obstacle avoidance and has a blade inside for hair.
r/RobotVacuums • Which model is best at obstacle avoidance and not tangling hair? ->S8 MaxV Ultra Get the best and forget.
r/Roborock • Help me purchase a robot vacuum cleaner for my mum (hardwood floors, cats, carpets) ->Literally have the Z70 in my checkout and I'm seeing your comment, so now I'm holding back again. Could you please elaborate more about why to stay away from Z70? I had the S8 MaxV Ultra and it wasn't bad but had issues and was just rolling around like a zombie doing nothing. I got my money back from BestBuy and waited until new models came out instead of buying the same model again and the cost of the Z70 will be fully covered with extended warranty through BestBuy. The robotic arm I get is kind of a gimmick right now, I think it's cool and could be useful in some cases but everything else about it checked out for me and seemed like a solid vac/mop bot based off the specs. The 10R I've been seeing people complain about some cleaning issues resulting in a need for replacement, I don't see people complaining about the Z70 cleaning but more so about how slow the arm is and it's not as good as advertised.
r/Roborock • Should I Get a Roborock or Another Brand? I’m Lost ->Ours (X1 Omni) is about to be passed on to the next unlucky sod who’ll have to cope with its demented behaviours that can only be solved temporarily with off-and-on-again. We’ll have a Roborock S8 Ultra instead.
r/homeassistant • What is the best robot vacuum currently that's really worth buying? ->I’ve owned top of the range Ecovacs and Roborock. I’d buy Roborock again whenever I need one. I’d never buy another Ecovacs.
r/homeassistant • Best automatic robot vacuum? ->It was an X1 Omni, so not cheap. It went wrong after just a few weeks and was sent back for repair which took too long to be considered good service. And all the way through the damn thing has exhibited awfully strange behaviours, like getting lost, going round in circles, or coming out for a clean then returning to base immediately. And the cleaning sink gets blocked and fills up ever so easily. In a direct comparison with a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, there’s no contest. It’s Roborock every time.
r/homeassistant • Best automatic robot vacuum? ->Yep, I agree. We have both the original Qrevo and the S8 MaxV Ultra. The Qrevo dock is far easier to clean.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->The best thing ever... She sweeps... She mops... She is amazing. https://a.co/d/fkwN19r
r/lifehack • What are your best quality-of-life purchases? ->Mine eats cat toys faster than my cat does. The camera is no use at all on that.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->As a cat dad to seven furballs—Haru, Spikey, Smokey, Yami, Furfulica, Schoki, and Kaya—keeping my floors clean used to feel like a full-time job. Fur, litter scatter, the occasional tracked mess—nothing escaped them. But since I got the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, everything has become easier to manage. We got it last year in November and it changed everything for our 120 m² apartment. 🐾 Real-Life Stress Test: Passed This vacuum-mop combo doesn’t just cope with a multi-pet home, it dominates. Whether it’s clumps of fur hidden under the furniture or micro-debris around the litter boxes, the S8 MaxV Ultra handles it with precision. • Pet hair removal: Outstanding. I run it once a day and it still manages to pick up a shocking amount of hair. • Navigation: Despite cat toys, food bowls, and lounging kitties, it rarely gets stuck or confused. • Obstacle avoidance: It avoids tails and paws without panic—or chaos. • Auto-mop lifting: Seamless transition between tiles and rugs without dragging dirt. • Maintenance: The self-emptying and auto-cleaning dock saves me loads of time—an absolute must in a pet-heavy home. 🛠️ Built for the Chaos What impressed me most is how low-maintenance it is, considering the heavy workload. The intelligent mapping and zone cleaning let me target the usual “battle zones” without lifting a finger. It adapts to new obstacles like a champ, and even when Kaya had a messy accident, it avoided the spot until I could clean up safely. TL;DR: If you’re living with multiple cats, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra isn’t just a gadget—it’s a partner in keeping your home fur-free and fresh. This isn’t a review from a lab; it’s from the trenches of real-life pet chaos.
r/Roborock • Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Review from a 7-Cat Household ->I'd like to get your take on my situation. I need a robot for upstairs which is all carpet with two big, shedding dogs and lots of toddler and dog toys spread about. So no mop needed, but maximum vacuum power and top notch object detection ON CARPET are my two main priorities. I bought a Roborock Q8 Max+ and an S8 MaxV Ultra to test because they both have double rollers and ranked highly for on-carpet pet hair pickup on Rtings. I believe vacuuming performance will be approximately the same between these two robots, but it's the improved object detection of the S8 Max Ultra that I'm thinking might make the extra spend worth it. Is there anything else I should be considering with these specific requirements? The only other one I had on my radar is the Dreame X50 Ultra. Price is not an important factor to me, and I'm located in the US.
r/RobotVacuums • Prime Day last chance- a few hours left to score PD deals. Are you on the fence? Let's cut through it. ->Thanks, I've got an S7 Max V downstairs that does a great job of not getting stuck on toys actually, but I understand that object detection performance is typically better on hard floors. If object detection on carpet is hopeless, and mopping isn't needed, then what advantage does the S8 have over the Q8? Seems like suction is the only thing, but I've read that having a well designed dual roller system is really the most critical factor when it comes to dog hair on carpets, so I'm not so sure that the S8 MaxV Ultra will really be better than the Q8 for my application. I guess time will tell! I'm super curious about the Dreame, because its on-carpet object detection is very strong. Perhaps a test is in order!
r/RobotVacuums • Prime Day last chance- a few hours left to score PD deals. Are you on the fence? Let's cut through it. ->The S7 is abysmal with pet hair pickup on carpet. It's so bad, I don't even bother letting it try as it's just noisy and doesn't do much! Going to the Q8 with dual rollers has been a night and day difference (in the one day I've tried it haha). For now, the S7 will stay downstairs where it's mostly hard floors while the new robot will handle the all-carpet upstairs. We'll eventually upgrade the downstairs S7 as well, but then the choice will be much more straightforward as the newer models are so well rounded (at the sacrifice of good carpet pickup performance it seems). One thing that's certain is that the Dyson vis nav is not the right answer. It couldn't even find its dock after completing the upstairs mapping routine 🤦 😅
r/RobotVacuums • Prime Day last chance- a few hours left to score PD deals. Are you on the fence? Let's cut through it. ->The X40 and L40 are essentially the same. I think the lower rating for the X40’s navigation is due to older firmware and the L40’s firmware is more polished. Just choose whichever model is cheaper. My TriCut brush works as advertised, no hair or fur tangles around it. The S8MaxV’s rollers are more prone to getting fur stuck on the sides and their navigation and obstacle avoidance isn’t as good as Dreame’s.
r/RobotVacuums • Is there a consensus here on the best vacuum cleaner? Dreame X40/L40 Ultra or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra ->Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra should do best with fur and vacuuming rugs. You'd have to remove tangled hair around brush bearings every once in a while. If your dogs leave *messes* that a robot cannot clean, I'd go for the Freo Z Ultra to avoid any accidents.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum under $1000? ->Best vacuum will be the s8 MaxV ultra (won’t have as great obstacle avoidance compared to its eufy and dreame friends but the dual rubber brush does great for agitation). For mopping, the s1 wins out of the ones you listed. There are also interesting new roller mop Robots on the market or will soon come to the market though.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot Vacuum and Mop? ->Are you looking for only roborock? The roborock MaxV has no extending side brush for corner cleaning. Roborock’s side and edge cleaning algorithm is also rather conservative and won’t extend the side brush out to clean closer to edges if there’s like a toe kick or swing the extended mop(which dreame/MOVA does and Narwal does this too but with the mops only). > better mobility and avoiding obstacles Roborock’s obstacle avoidance lags behind other robots, even at this price range. TvT I’d check out the dreame l40 ultra or the MOVA p10 pro ultra if cheaper than the MaxV. Turns out it’s the p50 with the broken front wheel issue.
r/Roborock • Is it worth the extra money to get the Qrevo maxV over the Qrevo S? ->Roborock s8 maxV ultra. Worth every penny at 1099. Got 3 here and got my mom one for xmas. She loves it so much. Sends me videos almost daily.
r/homeassistant • What's the best robot vacuum and mop IYO? Is it really worth its expensive price tag you paid? ->Three dogs? Go Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Best at fur, rugs, smart mapping, and edge mopping. Freo’s decent but worse app + support. Qrevo Curv is solid budget pick, but S8 MaxV is worth the extra $$ for pet chaos.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum under $1000? ->Did alot of research and settled on the new roborock S8 maxv ultra. Way over priced but heard great things about it. I will update with how it goes. Figured I can always return it. The price will be worth it if it keeps my floor clean. My boxer loves to shed and pee when I'm not watching lol.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Now ->I love it! Definitely pricey but pays off on everything I need!
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Now ->Coming from Roborock, which in my view has awful customer service, to Dreame, I was really concerned about an even worse experience based on forum feedback from owners. Maybe I'll regret it in the future, but so far my X40 Master has been out of sight, and out of mind. Everything stays clean (two dogs and a dog door, hardwood flooring), and the dock has an unlimited supply of water through our plumbing. The X50 Master doesn't seem to be available in North America yet, but I can't say enough good things about the X40 Master. I bought it and a Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra with the drainage:refill dock, and returned the Roborock after trying both. At CES 2025, Dreame did show off a fancy dock that can store and swap multiple sets of mop pads. That's really the only thing I'd love more at this point (I could go months and months without ever fiddling with the robot).
r/Dreame_Tech • X50 Ultra Thoughts? ->X2 clean mopping doesn't end with floor direction, and the baseboard mop spins when not by a baseboard. Leaving little swirly marks on the floor sometimes. Both could probably be fixed with an update.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I just got the S8 maxv ultra. Pumped to see how it does vs the s8+ which I moved to the basement. Gonna use the ultra on the main floor
r/Roborock • It's Here! Excited to share my review soon! ->The S8 MaxV ultra is last gen technology with its vibrating mop. I would choose the Dreame over the S8 max v as it has much better features, the app is just as good but the obstacle avoidance is leagues better. Is the Mova p10 pro ultra not available in your region? It's as good as the Dreame X40 while being significantly cheaper.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot Vacuum+mob cleaning should i buy for house mix with carpet and vinyl flooring, i need good obstacle avoidance too, which is the best for the price given ->Fair enough. In that case it looks like Dreame made a huge improvement with object avoidance with the introduction of their "X" series like the X30 and X40. Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. Looking at all the comparisons, most rank the Slim above the S8 and the S7 and then the X40 is well beyond the Slim. It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot Vacuum+mob cleaning should i buy for house mix with carpet and vinyl flooring, i need good obstacle avoidance too, which is the best for the price given ->Dreame excels at object avoidance. The only decent roborocks are the S8 MaxV and the Slim but they are significantly worse than Dreame and Eufy at object avoidance. My QRevo slim fails to see cords and basic obstacles on carpet and hard floors while my Dreame X40 has zero issues seeing every obstacle and rarely gets stuck or caught on things.
r/RobotVacuums • Do any robot vacuums actually avoid/not get stuck by clutter? ->Neither. 1) roborock has horrible obstacle avoidance, especially on carpet so they will eat cords, towels and socks so it's hard to run any of their vacuums on a schedule 2) the roborock s8 maxV ultra is a 2 year old design as this point and their sonic mopping system is outdated. It seems like they didn't want to cannibalize their QRevo line up and stacked on a silly side mop onto it. 3) the QRevo edge is good but if you are set on roborock, check out the QRevo slim as it has the best object avoidance out of all Roborocks but that isn't really a high bar to overcome as their robots have object avoidance that is comparable to a $400 robot. Personally since you have so much carpet, I would recommend the Dreame X40, L40 and the Mova P10 pro ultra (sub brand of Dreame). All have excellent hardfloor and carpet performance while also having class leading object avoidance. I currently have qrevo slim that I'm testing and a Dreame x40 ultra. The x40 just a far better cleaning system due to the object avoidance since I can run it daily.
r/RobotVacuums • Help Me Choose Between Roborock S8 Max V Ultra and new Roborock Qrevo Edge ->robot was only 1month old and it start ramping against black objects like dining table legs and black sofa legs but can cleverly avoid my black shoe rack legs. reach out to their aftersales team but they say its not a defect so it does not warrant a replacement. was asked to buy reflective strips to put around the "black object" instead. subsequently, the team ghosted me and didt reply ever after.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Roborock 8 maxv Ultra is very good. I use L40 Ultra from dreame. I'm happy but I have few issues. It can't detect glass and porcelain water bowls I put around for my cats. Runs into them. So you need to set no go zones. Cant detect water spills... That's dangerous. If it sucks water it's engine and mobo can die... Other than that I'm super happy. I use a real animal post patchwork carpet. And I was using carpet boost and intense carpet cleaning on. I noticed my leather post carpet has lots so many fur. It's that strong... Lol. I also have hepa filters in the house. Because it's cleaned everyday we don't have any dust in the house. Especially underneath the sofas. They clean better than humans. I paid 800 euroish for L40 Ultra. I bought supplies from aliexpress. It's 40 dollars for a year or twos supply with extra dust bags, hepa filters and rollers etc
r/RobotVacuums • Shark vacuums are trash ->S8 Ultra Maxv is very good. L40 Ultra is also good.
r/RobotVacuums • Which model is best at obstacle avoidance and not tangling hair? ->Roborock maxv is good. L40 Ultra if you can find if for 475 usd deal is a steal. I have the L40 U. It's amazing. It can detect poop easily. Tested in my house with my cats. But be aware no robo vac is 100% safe for this. Yet
r/Roborock • Robo vacuum worth it? ->It's my first robo vac for me it costed 850 euros 3 months ago. I did spec compared it. A friend bought the maxv they are also happy with it but it's more expensive here. It does hot water mop washing at the base station, hot air drying. Mop extend, arm extend and LDS lidar, light 3d sensor etc. 11k suction. I turned of carpet boost. It kinda damaged my patch work animal post carpets lmao too strong. I have two cats, mopping is very good house is spotless Roborock has a different mopping system. You can get tricut brush for dreame too. Definitely check other options L40 Ultra doesn't have water spill detection featuee and can't detect water bowls for pets (must set no go zones for them)
r/Roborock • Robo vacuum worth it? ->I have two vacs in HomeKit via Matter at present, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, and the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni. Both offer a reasonable enough experience in Apple Home so far, although for both models, in terms of suction you only get minimum or maximum options - Min/Max for S8, Quick or Deep Clean for the Omni. I believe Switchbot’s models offer all four speeds, although the K10+ Pro didn’t have the relevant update at the time I had it (I gave it away). Of the two, I think the Roborock is better for a few reasons, but the Ecovacs does offer some features that may be more useful in some situations.
r/HomeKit • Best Homekit Supported Robot Vacuums? ->I have the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it has made my life so much better!! I recommend it.
r/CleaningTips • I hate mopping. Should I just get a robot vacuum? ->My house is about 3,500 sq ft with all hardwood floors, except for two bedrooms that have few rugs. There are five people, two cats, and a dog living here, so the house can get dirty rather quickly. The first robot vacuum I owned was the Dreame X30 Ultra. It was a decent enough model but broke down after two months, and I couldn’t get it fixed on multiple attempts. I replaced it with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, but it didn’t measure up to the X30. Its mopping and obstacle avoidance capabilities were subpar compared to Dreame’s, and don't even get me started on the pet hair on the roller, I decided it isn't worth the trouble and returned it within a month then resorted to manually cleaning for about 6 months. Later i found the 3i S10 Ultra and backed it on KS, it had a few hiccups initially, but the company had like 3 firmware updates within 2 weeks and resolved them. Now, it's BY FAR the best robot vacuum I’ve owned, it cleans thoroughly, hasn't gotten stuck once, and even refills its own water tank by dehumidifying and distilling air moisture. It simply gets the job done. It has been two months now, and I can’t imagine not having it, i didn't know 3i company before backing the project and only after i saw some negative comments regarding the company on their previous OEM/ODM products. But i gotta tell you, the company for sure have up their game for this 3i brand, this thing is every bit as solid as the roborock, and better than the dream, it's now $1499 on amazon, honestly i would still get it.
r/RobotVacuums • Looking to buy my first robot vacuum and I am completely overwhelmed ->I’m not sure how many models don’t mop. I picked the S8 MaxV Ultra, top dog last year. It does a great job with obstacles. Vacs and mops very well.
r/Roborock • Help choosing a model - looking for good navigation, don’t care about mopping ->I used S8 maxv ultra for 2 months until it stopped auto- emptying. Best days of my life in terms of my vacuuming life, but trust has been broken once so ı returned it and got I Curv yesterday . So far for vacuuming- much quieter, uses extended side brush much better but less performance on rugs. Having tried moping on Curve yet.
r/Roborock • S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv? ->I have it as well as a Q Revo Master. The frustrating thing about the S8 Max V Ultra is that the app will not let me name any rooms. It just assigned names that are not correct and there is no option to change the name. The Master let me edit tha room names easily. Maybe I am missing something in the app but in that case why is it so difficult with this than the Master.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I had a J6 and still have my J9. You can get a j6 for the price you want. (I gave it to my sister in law, works fine after 2 years) I bought a Roborock S8MV, so the J9 got the J6 spot and the J6 was kicked out.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only robot under $4-500? ->I went in watching Zero reviews for the current flagships and bought the S8MV while on clearance at Best Buy. I've loved it since I set it up. I replaced my J9 and J6. (The J6 went to a family members, the J9 went to our upstairs FROG room) The object avoidance is fine on my Roborock, I had a cord snag day 1 and 2, once I got that area tidy'd up no issues since. Roomba's support for me has always been excellent. For example, they sent me a new vacuum motor for my J9 after warranty was up. I haven't had to use Roborock's and I've heard mixed reviews, I haven't heard a lot goof form Dreame, so that was a big factor for me. I believe all the flagships are excellent, and at this point we are splitting hairs. Go with your gut, which one do you want the most. BUY it!
r/RobotVacuums • Need recommendations, i’ve read too many reviews and now i’m spiraling ->Yes, I'm finally selling my Bravaa after not using it for a few months. The Roborock S8MVU is so much better
r/RobotVacuums • Robot vacuums - are they worth it ? Do you use yours? ->I have the Roborock S8MV, great robot that navigates well. The mopping is great. Get it on sale when its around $900.
r/RobotVacuums • Sick of roomba. Suggestions? ->I agree. That’s the only downside but mine is next to my sink so it’s really not too much bother.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->It’s because everyone’s situation is so different. One person prioritises mopping, another vacuuming. Different families, different floor plans…. You really have to know what matters to you and then I found the Just a Dad and vacuum wars videos could help me refine what was going to be the best choice for me. (It was a Roborock S8 Max V Ultra - owned for over a year, still absolutely love it).
r/RobotVacuums • This Subreddit doesn’t help in finding your best fit. ->I have an S8 Maxv ultra and I love it. Had a cheaper one (Ultenic) before which was pretty poor, but the Maxv ultra is next level. I have medium pile rugs, carpet, lino, tile and wood floors in my house and it does a great job on all of them. Even gets in the corners. It’s great, I wouldn’t be without it.
r/AskUK • Is it worth it to buy a robot vacuum in UK? ->I’d agree with this. OP, I have a 2 cat home with a mix of floors and it’s just great. Had it over a year now, absolutely zero regrets.
r/Roborock • Help me purchase a robot vacuum cleaner for my mum (hardwood floors, cats, carpets) ->The only thing I'm not happy with is that I now want to buy a second one so I don't need to carry it up and down the stairs lol.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Dream x50 Ulta was 1199.99, so i opted for Roborock S8 MaxV Ulta with Refill and Drainage System for $1089. Will be delivered today.
r/RobotVacuums • Dreame L40 Ultra - quick review ->But is it so bad? I mean my floors are pretty spotless, after just one round with s8 maxv ultra. So it’s not that big of a difference. I think for an everyday user it’s very very good. One thing I don’t like is its object avoidance. It’s mediocre at best. No sugar coating this
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Really depends. Pricing for the S8 MaxV Ultra is really good at the moment. I paid 1399€ in April and it’s closer to 1000€ now. I reckon pricing in Norway will be somewhat similar? If you wait you’ll have to expect to pay full MSRP for the S9 when it launches in January. If you can hold out I‘d probably wait but if you want / need it now just buy it now. As I said, it’s a great little robot. Even more so for the current price.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Something more to consider: the Eufy S1 Pro has a plumbing kit add-on. It also has detergent dispensing. Both the S8 MaxV and X40 have detergent dispensing as well. The Saros 10, Saros 10R, and X50 are all supposed to get plumbing versions of some kind, but they don't appear to be available yet.
r/RobotVacuums • Robots with Water and Drain Lines ->Of these, the worst mopping will be the Q5 and Q8 robots, which just have stationary pads attached to the back. The S8 also has a pad attached to the back, but includes a scrubbing motion via a plate that vibrates at a high speed. It's better than the Q5 and Q8. The best mopping will be on the Qrevo and Eufy X10. They have spinning mop pads, a dock which refills the water tank on the robot from its own water tank, and also cleans the pads automatically and stores the dirty water in another tank on the dock. Of the last two, each has its strengths and weaknesses. The X10 will be better at obstacle avoidance. The Qrevo is a Roborock, which has a better reputation for quality and reliability than the Eufy, and is also rated a little better than the Eufy at a lot of things: vacuuming performance, mopping performance, etc. It also can swing out one of its mop pads for better edge and corner cleaning, something the Eufy can't do. In some cases, obstacle avoidance is really critical, in which case I'd recommend the Eufy. Otherwise, the Qrevo is likely your best bet.
r/RobotVacuums • Home Depot sale. Are these a good buy? ->Roborock has two mopping systems for their higher-end robots: spinning-pad (see their Qrevo line and the Saros 10R) and vibrating-pad, which looks like the stationary-pad system but with a vibrating plate underneath the pad. Roborock's implementation of this has received high marks, with some people rating it as better than spinning pads. The current example of this would be the Saros 10, with the S8 MaxV continuing to do well even as an older model. To my knowledge, Roborock does not have a roller/track mop model. I'll also put in a vote for the Eufy S1 family. They're older than the models you mentioned, but have been reliable for a number of people (including me). The Pro was considered the top roller mop of 2024 (with some considering it the top mopping robot of 2024). They're not worth their retail prices today, but I see the S1 on Amazon US for $700 and the S1 Pro for $1050. Probably the main concern you should have would be vacuum performance, but my S1 Pro has never had a problem with pickup on hard floors.
r/RobotVacuums • Which is the best vacuum+mop robot as of July 2025 (budget of around $1300/£1000)? ->Can't seem to empty itself ever, the dust simply stays trapped in the onboard container. Leaves dust cigars around the place. Doesn't heat to the temperature advertised when mop cleaning. Navigation doesn't seem as good as my old S5 Max. Disappointed in it and trying to return it at present.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I have had a S8 MaxV Ultra for a year. I love it. I’ve had MANY other robots come through my house and none have compared to it. Not even the new Saros 10r. I had 2 of those and they were both awful. I would not recommend it at all. If you didn’t get the S8 the only other one I would say would be the Saros 10 (not the R though). I like the mopping on them far better than the spinning mops. I think the sonic mopping just cleans better. And I have 5 dogs, a cat and live in a dusty, desert area so I put them through the test.
r/Roborock • S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv? ->I am quite satisfied with my Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra (which is now available for purchase starting at €885). To program it properly, you need to have some knowledge of YAML automations. I had to learn this from YouTube videos first. But then the possibilities are almost endless.
r/homeassistant • Best automatic robot vacuum? ->Both the latter robots are better than the S7, i would personally go for the S8 MaxV which was last year's flagship! I have it myself wnd im really happy with it
r/Roborock • S7 Max Ultra vs S8 MaxV Ultra vs Q Revo MaxV – Best for Hard Floors & Pet Hair? ->I have the MaxV and im very happy with it but $1299 for last years model seems high tbh
r/Roborock • S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv? ->The Saros 10 looks really nice, but im not entirely sure if i see €300 euros worth of upgrades in it contra the S8 MaxV Ultra. Like, if someone offered me to upgrade to the Saros 10 from our current bot for €300 im not entirely sure i would to be frank. If you have a lot of thresholds in your home then i would go for the Saros 10. It does have a few nifty features that i would like but not enough for me to pay €300.
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->I mean, if you can afford it would recommend going for the best tbh! I have a S8 MaxV Ultra (i did not pay full price) and im very very happy with it!
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->It was on sale in November so i paid around $1000 give or take! Including 25% VAT here in Norway.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->I have the S8 MaxV Ultra with the Vibrarise 3.0 and i must say im very happy with it. As others have pointed out, the robo vacs are not a replacement for mopping per se, they will do a great job at ensuring your floors wont get too dirty but nothing will beat a hot water proper mopping of the floors.
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->S8 MaxV Ultra is decent but wait for an offer so you can get it under $1000 preferably.
r/Roborock • Best Vacuum/Mop for Dog Hair? ->Basically, if you want the best vacuum and obstacle avoidance, you will want one of the top bots! Currently the top dogs are the Saros 10 / Saros 10R and last years models the S8 MaxV Ultra and the Qrevo Egde / Curve. We mop A L O T and like, besides emptying the dirty water tank daily / every second day and refilling daily / every second day, i only have to do "deep maintenance" which involves washing the water filter (its hard plastic so no drying time) and washing underneat it and the smaller mop with a damp cloth, and thats for someone who does the deep+ program once a week. If you just do regular vac & mop, depending on how big of a house you have, and the program you use, you wont need to refill the water tank more than like every 3 days realistically, and it only takes like 30 seconds to do so! Feel free to DM me if you have more questions or just ask them here :)
r/Roborock • Help choosing a model - looking for good navigation, don’t care about mopping ->If you have ruled out the Saros 10 then you basically have ruled out the S8 MaxV as well, it does not have the rotating mops that the Saros 10R has. I would stay well clear of the Z70, its gimmicky, and the Saros 10R is better anyhow. For the prices quoted i would go for the S8 MaxV though. I own one, and while the 10 / 10R has some really nifty features, it\`s nothing i would pay €600 extra for..
r/Roborock • Roborock Saros 10r, 70z, S8 MaxV Ultra ->I will say, im very happy with the performance of the S8 MaxV though, the vibrarise system is very good in my opinion.
r/Roborock • Roborock Saros 10r, 70z, S8 MaxV Ultra ->I will say it depends. Im super happy with our S8 MaxV Ultra, but i have also heard plenty of good things about the Curv / Egde (same bot) The Curv apparently does not have as good object detection as the MaxV but im quite unsure how much difference there is + It has spinning mops which seems to be favoured by quite a lot. Honestly, i don't think you can go wrong between them anyhow!
r/Roborock • Best robo vacuum under 1500 ->I would recommend it! We've had ours for around 9 months now and it's been great! I've bought replacement parts from AliExpress and use the official detergent!
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->I have a two-story house, all laminate or tile except for the stairs and my bedroom closet. Over the years I’ve had multiple vacuuming Roombas, which generally did an OK and not great job. I bought the S8 MaxV Ultra after seeing Lifehacker’s review, and haven’t regretted it… In fact, I loved it so much I bought a second one for upstairs, lol. It’s not perfect, but I’m genuinely surprised at how good of a job it does. Vacuuming power is excellent. Mopping power is pretty good. I usually set mine to do two passes in each room at a less intense mopping setting, which seems to work better than trying to do one pass at the intense mopping speeds. If you have a big, sticky stain, it’ll likely get some but not all of it up, so sometimes I have to get out my swiffer mop and hit those places when it’s done. that happens mostly just in the kitchen, which makes sense. But I rarely have to do any extra touch-ups elsewhere. The mapping is great. I’ve found its cord avoidance to be hit or miss — it recognizes a lot of them, but not all. You can add a no-go zone to help with that. I love the real-time cleaning map — it helps to see how far along it is. My only complaint this far is the wall sensors — I frequently get a “wall sensors dirty” alert, and the machine will simply stop wherever it is until you fix it. It’s ALWAYS because there’s a cobweb on it — enough for the sensor to notice, sure, but I think it’s crazy that the machine just stops. Sometimes, you can go in the app and do a sensor reset to get it going again, but often it will just stop again after a few seconds. So if you’re not home, you’re basically out of luck until you can get back and wipe it off. Based on my googling, I think this is an issue with most Roborock models. I generally don’t run the robot when I’m not home, though — I have an elderly cat that sometimes has accidents on the floor, and while I’m pretty sure the robot would avoid it, I’ve been burned by my Roombas and don’t want to take that risk, lol.
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->I had the s7 Maxv and now its on my second floor. I bought new s8 maxv ultra and does alot worse at obstacle avoidance than the s7 maxv. It literally went backwards in that aspect. I agree with the original poster. Why are we paying more for less. The s7 maxv also did way better on carpets. Only thing I love improved is the seld emty and refill dock which has been great.
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->I've been in the same boat, dealing with pet hair from my two furballs! IMO, it's crucial to have something with strong suction and efficient mopping abilities for a 400sqm tiled house. Among your choices, the dual rollers of the S8 MaxV Ultra seem like they'd handle pet hair really well, but don’t overlook having a solid all-around option. If you’re after something versatile and future-proof, you might want to consider checking out [this handheld vacuum](https://link.getsosocial.com/handheld-vacuum). They’re known to manage pet hair like a boss and are pretty robust for large tiled spaces. You won't regret making the investment!
r/Roborock • Best Robot Vacuum + Mop for Pet Hair? ->You can buy used roborock if its ok that it is not new
r/homeassistant • Cheap robot vacuum with mop for attic ->I am very happy with S8 maxv
r/homeassistant • Cheap robot vacuum with mop for attic ->Just because you got a faulty unit and dont know how to use your warranty doesnt mean its a bad product. There’s thousands of satisfied customers out there.
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->Dont listen to him. You seem to be European so you have I guess at least 1 year of warranty, and this guy just got a faulty unit and dont know how to get the warranty repair he’s entitled to so he writes shit instead. Its a good robot, not sure how that price matches the ones where I live tho, but it’s likely a nice price. It’s on sale all the time nowadays tho as it’s last year’s model
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->You want a cheap one and you're looking at one of their most expensive ones? Lol But anyways, my So 8 MaxV Ultra is pretty good at detecting balls of dog fur as dog poop and avoid them, so Im guessing it must be good at detecting actual poop too then
r/Roborock • What is the best cheap Roborock? ->I had a Roomba for years and when I got a dog, I just switched to daily vacuums whenever we went on our walk. When my dog passed, I stopped the daily vacuums (thought I didn’t need to anymore) and missed the constant cleanliness that I took for granted. I recently got a new dog and the need for a robot vac returned. I had totally lost control of my home until I got a Roborock s8 maxV ultra. Within the first day, I finally regain control of my home. Daily vacuums and moppings keep it that way and the robot not only empties itself, it washes and dries its mop. Seriously hands off for about a month and then all I have to do is empty the dirty water bin, fill the clean water bin and replace the bag. Under 2 minutes of “work” per month. I could never keep this up with manual vacuums and moppings.
r/Roborock • Robo vacuum worth it? ->Both are great but I lean toward the Curv. A bit better suited to the hard floor. The S8 maxV Ultra has a slight edge in obstacle avoidance but both are capable. Nearly all other specs are better on the curv.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot for a large house with pet hair? ->I bought the S8 maxv ultra a month ago, got it on sale for 800€ in France. My house is similar to yours with laminate flooring and some carpets . We have 2 huskys, shedding constantly, and I also have long hair😅. .basically I had to vaccum 2 or 3 times a day if I wanted to keep my house clean. And obviously I never had time or the will to do that everyday 😂. So this robot changed my life! Using it daily and my floors are always clean, does a great job on my carpets too. Veeeeery little maintenance! I read that the mopping is not the best on the market but it cleans my floor very well ( I mop 3 times a week) . Anyways I didn't touch my Dyson since we got the robot, best money spent! The only complain I have is the obstacle avoidance. Loves to eat cables.... 😅
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->Get it!! I got one for 800€ last month and it was already a good deal. 2 very shedding dogs, me with long hair, some carpets : I use it every day, my house is SO clean!! No problems for the moment 👍
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure I remember them demoting the S8 MaxV Ultra quite badly after their updated mopping test. And in my experience it was very mediocre. I also mentioned the water tanks and maintenance because OP said he was a newbie, so it's not unreasonable to assume that he's not familiar with the required maintenance of these devices. That's not something the manufacturer will readily mention, and most reviews will barely gloss over maintenance or skip it altogether.
r/RobotVacuums • Can robot vacuums with mopping functions really clean well? ->It’s not about layout. It’s about wanting to clean the kitchen quickly and waiting ages because your Roomba is lost. Or starting a full clean and Roomba now thinks it’s a new house. Or just leaving debris in the corners. I was so furious with how Roomba made itself obsolete by its broken navigation (because it was easier to whip out my Dyson V8 than to wait for it, or help it when it got stuck going to the kitchen… there were no obstacles ) I upgraded to Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Never going back to Roomba. Btw, according to vacuum wars, the best carpet vacuum is [Roborock Qrevo Curv](https://vacuumwars.com/roborock-qrevo-curv-review/). And it leaves its mops at the dock when it vacuums the carpets.
r/RobotVacuums • Roomba s9+ vs ? for only carpet ->I have S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids cords and power strips, but I’ve heard it has sometimes some trouble on the carpets. And it even mistook my dog’s toy for a cord. I don’t trust it 100%, but it doesn’t pull the plugged chargers when I need them, so I’m satisfied with what I have
r/Roborock • Which model will avoid cables on floor? ->Dude, people usually try this hard to find negatives when they are really close to buying something. If you can’t find them yourself, just go for it. Roborock releases new models all the time, you will need to wait infinite time to get ultimately the best model, but if you buy it now, you will have a model that you wanted to buy anyway. And regarding issues, my only problem was that it tried to eat one very thin black cord, but since it was always near the wall, I added a no go zone. Mopping is very good, sometimes it leaves some dried food (really small things), but those need scrubbing to go away and my tiles are uneven, so I just live with it. Other than that, it’s a great vacuum.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->If you want it to avoid clutter, it needs to have a camera. I have Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids clutter very well. I leave a lot of boxes, bags, plants, thing I need to put away that I temporarily place not far away from its base and it does a lot better job at avoiding it than Roomba J7 I had. When Roombas generally spot an obstacle, they tend to do a big circle around the obstacle and they can get lost because of it.
r/RobotVacuums • Do any robot vacuums actually avoid/not get stuck by clutter? ->We got a Roborock and it’s pretty awesome. It vacuums and mops. We have hard wood with area rugs throughout our house. I still need to vacuum but not every day like I had been prior to getting it. I’ve mopped once since I got it, about three months ago.
r/homemaking • Best Robot Vacuum for carpet and hard floors? ->The S8 MaxV which was the top of the line when we got it. They came out with a newer model like a week or so later 🤦🏻♀️. I would have definitely gotten the newer model if it was available. I definitely have to run it daily, sometimes twice. If I skip a day, it isn’t able to really catch up and I will need to vacuum. However I do have a toddler and a front entrance that is in the middle of our living space (so we have to walk through it multiple times a day, trekking dirt around the house). I imagine if you have different conditions, it wouldn’t be as big of an issue skipping a day. The only thing I wish we got was the one that is plumbed in rather than having to refill it. But it’s not that big of a deal to refill.
r/homemaking • Best Robot Vacuum for carpet and hard floors? ->I have the Saros 10r and had the s8 maxv. The s8 mopped better for my grooved LVP. They help but they’re not miracle workers. Often it’s best to do two passes with them as well.
r/Roborock • people say robo mops aren’t advanced enough yet. do you agree? ->8 years ago I bought a Xiaomi for daily maintenance (we have a dog) and I still use it, it works great for us. We recently bought a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it is used for maintenance and deeper cleaning. We are delighted with him. Money well spent.
r/RobotVacuums • Are robo vacuums worth it? ->The flexi-arm thing that never works.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I mean it works, it just never comes out and misses a lot of opportunities to clean corners.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I do, same as yours!
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I reside in a two-story house. The first floor is primarily hardwood, and I have an S8 MaxV Ultra, which is quite good. The second floor mostly consists of carpets. I currently have an S8+ which is fine, but always leave some traces behind and don’t vacuum thoroughly as I expected. It’s time to upgrade, and I’m looking for a vacuum and mop combo. While I’m open to this, I prefer a vacuum with good capabilities and fewer bells and whistles for mopping features. Important features: - strong obstacles avoidance - amazing suction and vaccum on carpets - auto empty bin - easy maintenance Which Roborock models (I’m not interested in different brands) are recommended for a carpeted floor?
r/Roborock • Best Roborock for carpets? ->I recently upgraded my Eufy X10 pro to the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Holy mother fucking god. The difference. I thought eufy mopped the floor well but this really cleans the floor. Like it felt clean! Wow. I have 2 cats 1 short hair 1 long hair, didn't leave any fluff on the floor at all. I'm so amazed, let's see how it performs in 3 months time.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum & mop combo for pets (not eufy S1pro) ->Definitely too high, even for my Roborock S8MaxVUltra, it's supposed to be high pile friendly it struggles, the side brush is the main issue as it spins and gets caught and tangled in the carpet
r/RobotVacuums • Ist this carpet an issue for modern robot vacuums? ->I just got the Roborock S8MaxVUltra because my 2 cats shed so much hair it killed my Eufy X10 Pro Omni. Haven't had an issue with this one 👍🏼 this one definitely seems a lot smarter with AI too
r/RobotVacuums • Dog hair and the robot vacuum ->Don't buy midrange. I ended up having to upgrade to Roborock S8MaxVUltra anyways.
r/RobotVacuums • [deleted by user] ->I have the S8maxv ultra and it’s been going pretty strong. I switched from iRobot to this and it’s been night and day !
r/Roborock • Should I Get a Roborock or Another Brand? I’m Lost ->I agree... There aren't going to be many people out there with experience with more than one or two devices. My Roborock S8 MaxV and my Curv have both served me well. The only advice I can offer with certainty is to avoid iRobot. I used to be a huge fanboy, but the company has really gone downhill. Good luck!
r/homeassistant • What's the best recommended Robot Vacuum on the market that you really swear by? ->My wife told me that I’m crazy when I buyed the S8 MaxV Ultra.. now?! She’s in love with it…
r/RobotVacuums • My wife is no longer complaining about how much I spent on the robot vacuum ->My S8 MaxV Ultra avoids most white cables. It hits every black cable though.
r/Roborock • Which model will avoid cables on floor? ->I have two dogs, two cats, and four humans living in this house. My first roborock was the original qrevo. The second is the s8 maxv ultra. The qrevo was way easier to clean because of the single tray. The s8 seems to clean a bit better but I don’t think it’s worth the extra money over the qrevo. I still have to scrub the floor along the trim every 3+ months. Mopping about 450 sqft a day with the s8 (since it only runs on the first floor), I refill the water tank every day though I could probably go every other day. I appreciate the auto detergent dispensing way more than I expected though you could just skip adding detergent. The qrevo water tanks are also way easier to clean. That said, I throw the water tanks of both units right into the dishwasher and run the dishwasher cleaning cycle afterward.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->Agreed. Just got the S8 and I’m amazed at its mopping and vacuuming.
r/Roborock • Roborock Saros 10r, 70z, S8 MaxV Ultra ->Here are some of the Roborock recommendations, I have a pet too that gets dirt from our garden and we stay in a wet climate so you can image! 1) Roborock S8 MaxV : [https://amzn.to/3Z0n45V](https://amzn.to/3Z0n45V) ; great especially if you dont have carpet and will use the mop (which is my case at the ground floor with pets). Just a note this one is bulky so make sure you have room 2) Roborock Qrevo Pro: [https://amzn.to/43jNP84](https://amzn.to/43jNP84) I loved this one and gifted to my parents as they wanted some edge cleaning and have some parts as carpets but work great on harder floors too 3) Qrevo curve: Havent tried myself but hearing great great reviews and honestly seems like my next purchase as I like its size also has very high suction so great for pet hair and small dirt particles: [https://amzn.to/437WNUF](https://amzn.to/437WNUF)
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum/mop for two dogs who shed a lot ->I have a Roborock s8 MaxV Ultra and it works great with my Maine coons super fluffy hair.
r/RobotVacuums • What is the best robot vacuum for cat hair? ->By far my favorite Roborock so far. At least you have the suction power if you ever need it. But you gotta let that MaxV, MaxV every once in a while. 😂 Roborock has the vibrating mop pad system honed down. There’s some benefits to spinning and rolling, but the vibrating pad system is dang good also.
r/Roborock • Suction power is not everything (Qrevo Curv VS S8 MAXv Ultra) ->There are other robot vacuums that outperform the S8 series, like the Dyson 360 Nav. Nothing compares to it. However, I'm with you on the Saros line. The Z70 (which is based off the Saros 10R) doesn't get close to my Robo S8 MaxV Ultra on carpet. There seems to be some sacrifices made in order to achieve the thinner body style (and in my case, accommodate the arm).
r/Roborock • When it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets, I have not found anything that out performs the base model Roborock S8, including the Saros 10R ->You really can’t go wrong if you are willing to spend $1000+ and pick a flagship model. My personal experience is Narwal Freo Z Ultra has the best AI avoidance for things like cords or strings. The brush is also tangle free, allegedly. So that would be great for your cats. Get it at Costco so you can return it if it breaks two years from now or you just don’t like it. Currently on sale too for about $400 off. My second choice would Eufy S1 Pro if mopping is the most important to you. Wait for it to go sale at Amazon for $999. Its AI avoidance is very good, but carpet performance suffers. I’d recommend Roborock but I haven’t owned one yet that doesn’t run right over cords. I have the S8 Max V Ultra. No experience with Dreame or Ecovacs/Yedi. Stay away from iRobot.
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendation request: robot vacuums for infant household ->95% of them are sponsored, so take that as you may. But the Narwal Freo Z is great at mopping as it can apply quite a bit of pressure for tile and returns to its base to wet/clean its mop pads often. It doesn’t just spin around dirty mop pads and rewet them. However, It uses a ton of water, even on its lighter settings and has poor edge mopping. Not great, but not the worst on carpet if you turn the settings all the way up. I find their cleaning algorithm annoying, but their AI avoidance is at the top. The Eufy S1 Pro is excellent at mopping (maybe the best!), terrible at carpet and lacks edge cleaning also. It’s a tank though with a nice app. I’m waiting on Roborock to do a roller. I like their app the best, but I just don’t care for rotating mop pads. I’ve been happy with my S8 Max V.
r/RobotVacuums • Are YouTube reviews misleading? ->If you care about vacuuming, get the S8 MaxV Ultra or the Qrevo Master.
r/Roborock • Not impressed the Saros 10R so I'm going to try the Saros 10. For $1300, it shouldn't be worse at vacuuming than my S8+. I've heard the 10 is better in this regard so hoping that's the case. It's still on sale so I'm going to give it a go and return the 10R back to Amazon. ->100% thanks to the DuoRollers.
r/Roborock • Not impressed the Saros 10R so I'm going to try the Saros 10. For $1300, it shouldn't be worse at vacuuming than my S8+. I've heard the 10 is better in this regard so hoping that's the case. It's still on sale so I'm going to give it a go and return the 10R back to Amazon. ->S8 MaxV Ultra is the best they have right now for carpets due to the brush roller design. The Qrevo Master uses the same system if you want spinning mop pads.
r/Roborock • Best Roborock for carpets? ->You definitely should put your S8 MaxV Ultra upstairs and try it out on the highest suction setting. I have the 10R and in good conscience can’t recommend it. It’s a step backward in performance, in my opinion, from the S8 series and is mostly form over function. Others disagree, but most of them aren’t comparing it to an S8 MaxV Ultra either. They’re coming from other brands or cheaper units.
r/Roborock • Best Roborock for carpets? ->If you want a better performing carpet Roborock get the S8 MaxV Ultra or the Qrevo Master.
r/Roborock • Saros 10R very bad at vacuuming carpets? ->Hey community, I would like to start my first post here in appreciation to the amazing products Roborock launches every year (maybe too often). For those who are on the brink of purchasing such robot (as i was a few weeks ago), i think this post will give them 1 extra reason to choose 1 robot version vs another, I had both robots for testing (Qrevo Curv & s8 maxv ultra), and i ended up sending the qrevo back. Even though logic would say that spinning mops are better, the vibrating one on the maxv ultra did a similar job, if not better in the corners. What made me actually stick with the s8 maxv ultra is the much better obstacle avoidance and , drum rolls ... Silent cleaning. I've discovered that i don't need to run my roborock at full speed as silent will do as great of a job. Not 100% sure why but i think it could be thanks to the dual rollers which provides basically 220% extra brooming (counting also the gap between the split roller from the qrevo). To obtain similar results, i had to use qrevo at higher revs which would also produce a higher pitched noise. If you often clean during the night & you live in a multi-level building together with a bunch of other neighbors, I think the S8 MAXV ultra is more suited for you as it can silently & efficiently clean your house while not bumping into your wires or eating your shoes leases (at least in my case). PS: they were both at the same price in RO ( 1100 EUR). Hopefully i am not sharing fake biased info, but this was my experience & that's why i stick with S8 MAXV ultra.
r/Roborock • Suction power is not everything (Qrevo Curv VS S8 MAXv Ultra) ->S8 can be had with the plumbed water dock so you never have to add or empty water which I think is the only way to do a mop bot. If the saros had that i'd go saros.
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->I still think roborock has the best obstacle avoidance. I m with the roborock S8 MaxV ultra and SwitchBot s10. S8 performs much better obstacle avoidance, but still it chews wires like 1 out of 30 days. However, I don't know why somehow it can still dock like everytime, sometimes even with the wire. SwitchBot s10 is good for the auto refill and drain and it chews wires more than my roborock, like 2-3 out of 30 days, but I have to save it as it will pause cleaning amd cannot dock.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vaccum object avoidance ->I have an S 8 Max V ultra plus super whatever and I would say it is keeping up with my four cats and dog just fine. It is quiet on carpet, however, the noise is very noticeable on hard surfaces. It definitely wakes me up downstairs if it is vacuuming on my tile floor, but it is pleasantly quiet on carpet. I don’t think my animals have had any carpet messes since I got it, but you get a little desensitized to animal waste messes. My dog would never poop in the house unless he was sick and if he was sick, well I’ve got bigger things on my mind than poop. A little enzymatic natures, miracle cleaner and elbow grease and it’ll be just fine. Everybody poops and poop gets everywhere.
r/Roborock • Help be choose a roborock or other roomba please I'm overwhelmed ->I have high pile carpet and the S8 MaxV Ultra does great
r/Roborock • Can Robotock do better on Carpet? ->Try your max v ultra on the carpet. I have 1” plush carpets and mine does great.
r/Roborock • Best Roborock for carpets? ->Can verify. Went through 3 other vacuums. No need to go any further. This vacuum does the job. 3 dogs 3 cats and an Italian wife. Our floors look great. Hard woods and medium pile carpet. Love it
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair? ->After testing several, I just settled on the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and I think it works really well!!!
r/RobotVacuums • Dog hair and the robot vacuum ->I really wanted to stay on The frugal side. After having three, I got really used to the idea of what they're supposed to do, but became very frustrated at the limitations of what the ones that I had were doing. And since I'd already sent three back, I was already in the mindset of well. If this one doesn't work I'll send it back too. But when I got it and tried it I was like wow this is what I've been wanting it to do. I still hate spending the money because it's not cheap and I don't make the kind of money that people who own these types of expenditures have, but I like how this performs so I'm going to keep it.
r/RobotVacuums • Dog hair and the robot vacuum ->I got it at Best buy for just over $1,100
r/RobotVacuums • Dog hair and the robot vacuum ->Mine works fine, I just had to set the less collision mode to none.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I have roborock s8 maxv ultra and it has been flawless since release day, floors always look spotless with 3 kids and a pet dog. Best investment i have ever made.
r/smarthome • What is the Best Robot Vacuum that Homeowners absolutely love and recommend? ->Yes but try and go for the s8max or s8maxv, when on sale they are pretty cheap these days
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->Yes but try and go for the s8max or s8maxv, when on sale they are pretty cheap these days
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->I was wondering the same thing, I was considering the Ecovacs X9 Pro Omni, but I decided on the Roborocks S8 MaxV Ultra. Almost every review I seen about the Ecovacs has been sponsored or appeared biased, almost every person I talked to who had a Ecovacs mentioned theirs broke down, had issues finding the dock station etc. Whilst everyone I talked to who had a Roborock absolutely loved it and would absolutely buy another Roborock when it's time to upgrade. I really wanted the rotating mop from the Ecovacs, but my gut told me I sholdn't gamble with Ecovacs, it seemed like a bait product to me. Vacuumwars sure raited it good, but I feel like their video review didn't convince me.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vacuum ->YES! It’s not cheap thin plastic like the Q. The dock has thick textured plastic. The robot has brushes silver on top with an illuminated logo. It’s just a fancier version and much nicer looking.
r/Roborock • Is Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra worth the $$$? ->S8 MaxV Ultra has the best of any Roborock vacuum out there. I have owned several Roombas and their obstacle avoidance is superior. This comes second best.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot Vacuum+mob cleaning should i buy for house mix with carpet and vinyl flooring, i need good obstacle avoidance too, which is the best for the price given ->I only have 2 cats and 2 clean adults so my challenge is less but this unit is amazing!!! The”V” is worth the extra money. I especially love the sonic mopping with a very high lift and smaller spinning mop that reaches into corners and along my baseboards. The larger spinning pads could not get into the corners because of a larger radius. The Dirt Detection is great! I’ve seen it go back and hit an area twice to make sure it got it all cleaned up. My other mop never did that. I don’t have to check my floors. I know they are pristine. I hope it last for years because the newer robots don’t seem to be improving much.
r/Roborock • Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Review from a 7-Cat Household ->The build quality is quite different. The S series is a step up. You can feel the difference in the thickness of the plastic, the texture surface and trim level. As far as cleaning goes they both perform well so it’s just your preference. I think the Xanadu egg shape is ugly and outdated. I prefer sonic mopping with great dirt detection.
r/Roborock • S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv? ->Add a Clean Zone feature! The rest is amazing. Oh yeah, I must have ghost cats because it’s never took a picture of one of them.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->My ion cartridge keeps the fresh water fresh. Mine doesn’t smell after a week. If you only mop once a week, fill it right before.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->I came from the J7 and 3 decades of Roomba. Roborock are superior on every level except obstacle avoidance. Not sure about longevity since my S8 MaxV is only 5 months old.
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->Get the S8 MaxV not the Max. Obstacle avoidance is stellar so far. It detected a turd yesterday and went around it. Thank God!
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->Roombas are the best at avoiding or at least not eating cords. Love roborock for the rest. My S8 MaxV has avoided all objects in my house including pet waste once which I am super grateful for! I think it’s a different kind of camera system.
r/Roborock • Obstacle avoidance issue ->Obstacle avoidance sucks on ALL roborocks coming from the i7 here as well. I must say everything else is spectacular. Plus, the parts last a lot longer without having to change them. How about my dust bag? I need to replace more often, but that only tells me that this robot is picking up debris my Roomba missed. I had an i7 and the M6 mop. Now I own the S8 Max V ultra and it’s a game changer. I can get the house cleaned in half the time.
r/Roborock • How does one decide which Roborock to get ->I own both. Well I did. Sent the Curv back. First off thestation is very ugly and cheap looking shiny white plastic. The biggest drawback was THE CURV COULD NOT MOP CORNERS. The pads are too wide to fit in the corner, but the small mopping pad on my S8 maxv ultra fit right in there and got every crevice.
r/Roborock • Any alternatives for the QRevo Curv, or is it worth the splurge? ->We got the roborock s8 ultra maxv. It is very nice
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->I have one. Don't buy it. It's a piece of shit that can't handle basic pet hair (non visible to eye) without clogging. If I have to do a full teardown service of every vacuum part before the stupid thing will clean, that's a no go. I I'd rather just vacuum. I'm glad I went with the best model because I can't imagine how much shittier other models must be. Biggest issue is the lack of robot control. Gotta hack e everything through routines and schedules. For me it seems I need to run the vac daily on only 2 rooms at a time, then service as needed and do the next few rooms. Otherwise it doesn't lick anything up and trying to empty it causes an even bigger mess than you started with. I would return this thing in a heart beat if I could anymore. I'm glad it works somewhat at least.
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->S8 maxv ultra. We were having issues having to vacuum every weekend or 2. The robovac was supposed to fix that. I knew they obv weren't good as normal vacs so I went with the best one based on reviews. So far I don't think it's worth that money. Maybe half
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->I'm not OP, but in case it helps, I just got the S8 MaxV Ultra for $879 on Amazon in the United Arab Emirates. Seems there are some pretty nice deals floating around right now.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->I just bought one this evening at that price - our first robot vacuum! It’s been a fun evening watching it map the half the apartment so far. The first batch of dirty water was also very satisfying :)
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->When you open the front cover of the dock there’s a bag there. And a spare one inside the box. So you don’t need to buy them right away
r/Roborock • I’ve found the S8 MaxV Ultra for 700 EUR - Good Deal? ->My Roborock S8 Max V. Mops and vacuums. I have a single story home and dogs that shed and track in dirt. It does a great job at keeping the floors clean and forces me to pick up toys and shoes around the house, and to organize cords better, leading to much less clutter. I only pull out the regular vacuum for detail areas the robot can’t reach. We even discontinued our house cleaner as she previously focused on the floors and cleaning the bathrooms which we now we easily do ourselves. Can’t wait till they release the robot mower.
r/Futurology • What’s a piece of tech you bought that completely changed your daily routine and its impact on future? ->Same problem here. I have a Roborock S8 MaxV with pet-food setting in the map - and it doesn't care at all.
r/RobotVacuums • Ideas for pet food area with robot vacuums? ->I returned my Saros 10R because it was awful at vacuuming and got an S8 MaxV Ultra. It's a lot better.
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->Yeah I ended up cancelling my Saros 10 order and ordered the S8 MaxV Ultra instead. Hoping it's better.
r/Roborock • Not impressed the Saros 10R so I'm going to try the Saros 10. For $1300, it shouldn't be worse at vacuuming than my S8+. I've heard the 10 is better in this regard so hoping that's the case. It's still on sale so I'm going to give it a go and return the 10R back to Amazon. ->Looks like the QRevo Master isn't available so guess I'll go with the S8 MaxV Ultra. Appreciate it

You can see the pet hair it failed to pick up. I ended up ordering the S8 MaxV Ultra because the dual rollers should be able to handle it. They seriously handicapped the airflow on the 10 and 10R by only having 1 roller.

I imagine many robot vacuums would struggle with it. I avoided Ecovacs because I've heard they have reliability issues though. I bought a S8 MaxV Ultra instead and since my S8+ has handled the rug well, I imagine it will too.

I have it, an s8 MaxV ultra and a Qrevo Pro. The Qrevo Master may very well be Roborock's new "flagship" unit! You made a great choice!
r/Roborock • Did I Make a Mistake or Did I Make the Right Choice? ->The Master vs the S8 MaxV ultra is a tough call. They are both excellent but I do favor the rotary mopping system in the Master.
r/Roborock • Did I Make a Mistake or Did I Make the Right Choice? ->Hi, i just bought the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, i did the first vacuum and mop. Very Happy. But the emptying of the washable filter has me puzzled. Do i need to turn the Dock Base off to take the robot out?
r/Roborock • Is Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra worth the $$$? ->It's subpar on paper, there's a lot of hype as they have to sell their latest models. Vacuuming performance and obstacle avoidance is great on S8 MaxV Ultra. A bit older also means that there more software bugs are fixed as well.
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->It depends, however, what jobs you consider more important. They might be better at mopping, however vacuuming performance of S8 MaxV Ultra is still great given the superior airflow.
r/Roborock • First-time robot vacuum buyer — worth investing in the S8 MaxV Ultra or save some cash? ->Roborock struggles to avoid objects on carpet. Put it on hard floors and it will likely avoid it 9 times out of 10 even with the basic models like the Qrevo S with a single light sensor. This is why I always run my ovject avoidance tests on carpet. I find most pets tend to have accidents on rugs or carpet and since it is more difficult for all robots not just Roborock, testing object avoidance on carpet usually means if it succeeds there then it will succeed on hard floors. I'm not sure why other reviewers have not picked up on this yet especially Vacuum Wars. If you want the best object avoidance (from Roborock) on carpet specifically with animal waste the best options are the S8 MaxV and the Qrevo Slim. Through all my years testing it feels like Roborock has not invested in object avoidance as their tech has not really improved much since the S6 MaxV which was groundbreaking when it launched. Companies like Eufy, Narwal and Dreame have invested and are way ahead. It is always best to pickup prior to running a robot, but I do understand that many people prefer to run them on a schedule when not at home.
r/Roborock • Roborock Obstacle Avoidance Sucks ->If you are talking about the S8 MaxV the yes it has Reactive AI 2.0 however the Qrevo MaxV has Reactive AI. Edit: sorry I see you were talking about the S8 MaxV
r/Roborock • Best robo vacuum under 1500 ->The S8 has an IR camera instead of the RGB camera on the S8 MaxV.
r/Roborock • Best robo vacuum under 1500 ->Lidar turret fault after 1 month of use. Currently at service center.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->yours is faulty, my s8 maxv is over 900h everything is still perfect
r/Roborock • Roborock [S8 Max V Ultra] poor quality ->No, I would say that r/homeowners is not for opinions on robot vacuums any more than r/america is for opinions on where to buy organic bananas in Hanover, MD. If we want to say that it's relevant enough, that's totally cool, but it took me 5 seconds to type "vacuum" into the search bar and find this [basically-the-same-exact-post](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeowners/comments/1h13ifu/best_costperformance_vacuum_cleaner/) in this sub from 3 days ago. I'd start there. Beyond that, I'd imagine that /r/RobotVacuums is going to be a more helpful sub for this query. My anecdote that's not as valuable as a professional review is that when we bought ours a couple years ago the combo of the Roomba Brava Jet + j7/9+ was better than most of the mop-and-vac units. Today, there seem to be a number of all-in-ones that do a really good job. The [Roboroc](https://us.roborock.com/products/roborock-s8-maxv-ultra-with-refill-drainage-system?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAjKu6BhAMEiwAx4UsAt-GEvN4xkVNCONr-NmpXX4LdGNawOnGF-4EpJhdWL0fvQrCuU6ethoC3UYQAvD_BwE) is highly-regarded, compared to the [similarly featured but more expensive eufy](https://www.eufy.com/products/t2080111-b?variant=44272101654714&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pmax&utm_content=s1propmax&utm_campaign=us_appliance_RVC_conversion_pmax_s1pro_purchase_launch_ost_M3_0619&utm_term=21384591519__&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAjKu6BhAMEiwAx4UsAp2Wb6yfRDfeOBMrNYypQBLhoQzovNY0GcwUUEo3209RKHFTNNLrMhoCaQkQAvD_BwE). Best of luck in your search.
r/homeowners • Best Robot Vacuum?? ->I have a s8 MaxV ultra, and I wanted to upgrade this year, but I don’t find the current line up that interesting tbh… I would like the saros 10r but it does not come in white and you can’t get it with the fresh water installation station… what a bummer. The saros 10 ist a better s8 max V, is it worth the extra 250bucks probably, but it’s not worth to upgrade for me. And the z70 is a joke :( the smaller dustbin with a worse main brush. So sad, I looked forward to it
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->4K hours on my Roborock s8 maxV ultra, not one problem so far, I do biweekly maintenance. 1 golden retriever, and runs 2 a day! I love Roborock, still not impressed with the current saros lineup, if they not do a little more I will try a dreame product like the up coming aqua 10 pro
r/RobotVacuums • What is the most reliable robot vacuum? ->I mop like 4-5 times a week, rest is only vacuum. Works really well! :) Yes that’s a lot of hours and a lot of m2 he did clean! But it goes fast because twice a day 170m2, takes him a bit under 2hours each run!
r/RobotVacuums • What is the most reliable robot vacuum? ->10R does not clean better than the 10 since the latter can put more down pressure hence better with though stains. 10R dock much more uncomplicated to clean as any other rotating system. The S8 maxv is quite expensive tbf at that price, I wouldn’t buy it for more than 900-1k probably. And 10 at that price also not worth it. Are you able to get the Curv or edge or even the QRevo master ? If it has to be absolutely those two then I would go for the 10 because it has the duo divide roller, lifts the side brush which is also tangle free, new robot and dock design, but I reckon prob most people would/should get the maxv
r/Roborock • Help choosing between Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Saros 10 – coming from a Roomba i7 ->If you don’t need the best of the best obstacles avoidance then, Have you checked QRevo Curv and edge ? They should be in the 1K ballpark too and they have anti tangling roller and side brush plus the dock is easier to maintain, smth I don’t mind in my S8 but you having 3 kids might be smth you consider. As others mentioned discard the Z70 it has a lot of compromises for the arm.
r/Roborock • Roborock Saros 10r, 70z, S8 MaxV Ultra ->I have the roborock s8 maxv ultra that I run on vacuum only once a day and vac+mop once a week. Does the job pretty well given my girl is constantly shedding (I also have two long hair cats).
r/goldenretrievers • Best Robot Vacuum ->So annoying honestly. Idk what to buy. I've always had Roborock (currently S8 MaxV Ultra). Should i get Soros 10R or Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni, honestly cant decide anymore.
r/RobotVacuums • Ecovacs is DOMINATING Our New Mopping Tests (4 out of the top 5 are Ecovacs) ->From my personal experience it is Roborock models. I’ve had 2x Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, 2x Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and now Roborock Saros 10R and I couldn’t be happier. When I had first gotten the S7 MaxV Ultra’s k had questions about original accessories and I had emailed them and they replied so quickly with the Information I needed. I tried Ecovacs X9 Omni Pro and I think my robot was faulty. I tried contacting support directly when I received it, I have yet to receive an answer (Europe/Netherlands). I have returned it back to Amazon instead.
r/RobotVacuums • What is the most reliable robot vacuum? ->First of all Z70 is just a bad version of Saros 10R! So don’t even consider it, the internal tanks are so small just for a gimmick. Why I’d say Saros 10R over S8 MAXV Ultra (I have both): - auto detachable spinning mops: - can cross thresholds; - base had removable tray for easy cleaning; - better object detection in smaller frame so fits more places. - I have 3 cats and they both vacuum equally I’d say. I run them multiple times per day so I don’t let it build up too much. But spinning mops are really better.
r/Roborock • Roborock Saros 10r, 70z, S8 MaxV Ultra ->Well probably the obstacle avoidance, the only problem with it is the light. If its a little dark it doesnt turn on and in my case it misses out on black cables under my sofa and gets tangled in it. The other one is the flexi arm brush that never want to work even if i turned on the settings in the app. I can say that in this price range Roborock should do something because this is just software.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Yeah on the s8 maxv ultra i dont have that option, just automatic and off. At least they should give you a sensitivity option or something. Or Im on iphone i dont know if the app is different on android
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->im honestly not having great luck with the intelligence. it is SLIGHTLY better than my s7+ to be honest -- in terms of obstacle avoidance and pathing. the overall cleaning performance, especially mopping, and thick carpet, is great. but, this little bitch gets wrapped up in all sorts of cords, clothing, runs into (over) furniture feet.... like, are the cameras on bro?
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Cleaning the dock. That’s all. Everything else works great.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Roborock. I have a q5 and an S8 Max v ultra. Both awesome machines.
r/RobotVacuums • Overwhelmed with so many options. What's the best value-for-money robot vacuum? ->IME, with three rabbits running around, both Roborock and iRobot's offerings do a great job of getting hair (and rabbit poops) up. iRobot does a better job emptying the bin (it has internal sensors to tell it when the bin is full and better vacuuming out of the bins because it will return when full rather than at a set interval). Roborock does a better job at mapping and obstacle avoidance. The iRobot I had had scars from slamming into the edge of the couch, could take a couple days to map out, and would lose the map every couple of weeks. The Braava mop was great at mopping - couldn't manage the map for shit though. My Roborock is set on high sensitivity and hasn't hit anything, and manages to avoid cords and socks. Having run both a iRobot S7 and a Roborock S8 Max ultrawhatevertthefuckthey'redoingwiththeirSKUnaming - the S8 is, overall, much less hassle. Its easy to break the vacuuming up into jobs and just manually empty the bin after each compared to hoping the map doesn't self-delete every week.
r/Roborock • Help be choose a roborock or other roomba please I'm overwhelmed ->Within 4 months of getting this vacuum I have had these issues and was wondering if they are systemic: Key Faults: 1. Filter System Failure: Does not empty automatically, requiring manual intervention after every use. This is intermittent but recently has been for days at a time. 2. Cleaning/Drying Failure: Frequently fails to wash or dry the mopping pads, leaving floors dirty/wet. 3. Navigation Defect: Regularly gets stuck against walls/objects with no actual blockage, halting operation. My last roborok I had for 4 years before it conked out. This one is a dud less than 12 months in. I am trying to get my money back (currently arguing with JBHIFI the device has exhibited multiple faults that constitute a major failure under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).) but I am worried if we get another one we will also only get 12 months out of it. Meanwhile my Miele vacuum has been going for 13 years with no issues. Not one. And we are on our 4th robovacuum.
r/Roborock • Roborock [S8 Max V Ultra] poor quality ->3 cats and a dog. Have a Roborock s8 max which does a great job
r/homeassistant • What are the best robot vacuums for those who're struggling with lots of PET HAIR? ->I have the roborock s8 max v ultra but I wish I had waited and gotten the new curve one. It’s ok but the specs on the curve are so much better. I’ll probs wait for the new models next year that should come out Q2 2025. I have 2 British shorthair cats that have a lottttt of shedding.
r/RobotVacuums • The best robot vacuum for a couple with 3 long-haired cats? ->I have two robos. The s8 max v ultra has been phenomenal. Self empty vac, but you need to fill the water tank yourself which takes 30 seconds. Check it out.
r/Roborock • Looking for a robot Vacuum + mop With auto-empty & auto-refill ->I have the Roborock S8max and it does all of that except 2 inch climbing. Very few can do that without a robot ramp. However you can pick mine up and set her loose on another floor so if you’re willing to pick her up to go into that room you’d be good. Mine does a self empty and does a great job with corners and baseboards and cleans up even pretty fine dust (I have three dogs who bring a lot of dirt in) and hair. Mine was $420 or so, it said it was a sale but I suspect it’s on sale almost constantly.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vac for hardwood and pets ->The Roborock S8 Max V Ultra (the one with the dock) is truly outstanding! It pairs wonderfully with Home Assistant, making my life so much easier. I've created convenient buttons on my tablet throughout different rooms - just a quick tap and this helpful robot gets right to work! Couldn't be happier with this setup.
r/homeassistant • What is the best robot vacuum currently that's really worth buying? ->I have three roborocks (Saros 10R, S8 Max V ultra, S8 Pro Ultra) with the oldest being two years old now. All three have built in auto dispensers. Besides using roborocks floor solution I've used any european floor cleaning solution brand you can think off and everything has been fine so far. Only drawback from from some of the non roborock solutions is that they do sometimes make the mops smell bed. Only thing I stay clear off is using cleaning products which have alcohol in them as that can eat up the rubbery bits inside the dock and robot.
r/Roborock • I was a Non-Believer ->I have had 3 roborocks over the years and they have worked great! My S7 max V ultra travel 180miles before I upgraded to the S8 Max V ultra. Had my S4 since it came out over 8 years ago and still use it for our basement. Also have the Dyad. Roborock makes the best robot vacuums by far.
r/RobotVacuums • Vacuum wars and how fast you can lose money ->Another vote for the Q Revo with full self emptying and self mop washing/drying. The price hurts, but got it for black friday a year ago so it wasn't quite so nuts. And for whatever reason it does all the same stuff as the S8 max or whatever they call it, just with spinny mops instead of vibrating, for much cheaper. Also have the LG self-emptying stick vacuum. At least for our household, we've learned that lowering the barrier to quick cleanup was by far the best way to get us to actually clean. With our old stick and robot vacs, having to empty the dustbin and for basically every use meant it was enough of a hassle that we would just not clean as often. The self-cleaning are certainly not maintenance free, but make it more of a monthly deal. And the roborock app is pretty great, sometimes a little finnicky but better than others I've tried, and HA integration is straightforward enough to get the basics working. I have a dashboard with buttons that just send it to individual rooms which is good enough. Eventually will make some toggles to select multiple rooms at once.
r/homeassistant • What's the best robot vacuum and mop IYO? Is it really worth its expensive price tag you paid? ->Auto refill Drain is a must. Currently have the roborock S8 Max V ultra with auto refill/Drain. Is there an offering with better mopping capability. Considering moving that one up to the second level bedrooms (all hardwood/tile). We have a dog non shedding small but that brings in paw prints and 3 kids. our first floor is 1000sq/ft open floor plan all hardwoods except one wool carpet that I created no go zone and vacuum with a canister vacuum. Small Object detection isn’t as important as I put all the dining chairs up, ottomans etc and pick up all the stuff off the floors before running the vacuum. It’s essentially a wide open space. The most important in priority is great mopping, creating zones, edge vacuuming, aesthetics (smaller charging base like the roborock). . it looks like my options are the Dreame X40, Eufy Pro, Narwhal Freo z (bonus sold at Costco) are there any other options? Will the Saros series with the refill/drain come to the US? I can wait if there is something better coming up from another brand down the pipeline.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Mopping Vacuum w/ auto refill/Drain ->I have an S8 pro ultra and long-haired dogs. Never had an issue but normal maintenance is clearing the sides of the rollers (easy to do since the mounts slide out). The newer version (maxV ultra) is currently on sale for $1k on Amazon.
r/Roborock • Tangle-Free Robot Mop/Vacuum Recommendation Needed ->also had the s5 before, the s8 is so much better in light mopping. you should get one with a station, like tha maxv ultra. it cleans the mop like every x minutes and its perfect.
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->Ecovacs pro Omni x for best mopping. Roborock maxv8 ultra for best vacuuming. Roborock Saros 10r for 2nd best at both
r/RobotVacuums • If money wasn’t an issue, what’s the best robot vacuum right now? ->S7 / S8 Ultra docks have an extra complex mop washer which is not needed in a Qrevo. It tends to get messy in the dock tray and the thing is hard to clean because it's not removable. Furthermore it makes the docks expensive and thus less economical. If you can't stand your appliance being covered with residue, don't buy. The revo tech needs less maintenance.
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->The fact that I can't action routines from Alexa is annoying me right now. Performance wise, its been great and a signifcant improvement from my old Neato
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->So I can currently say Alexa clean the kitchen, for example - this will make the my S8 Ultra do one pass (cycle) and mop the kitchen, which is fine. However if I go into the Roborock app I have routines saved for clean kitchen, with 3 cycles instead of 1. I need/want a way of being able to trigger the saved routines I have within the Roborock app via alexa [https://forum.roborock.com/discussion/6241/how-do-i-ask-alexa-to-start-a-roborock-routine](https://forum.roborock.com/discussion/6241/how-do-i-ask-alexa-to-start-a-roborock-routine)
r/Roborock • What disappointed you the most with your Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra? ->Roborock S8 ultra. We love it. Runs every other day, vacuum and mop. Have had it about a year and a half
r/BuyItForLife • Best self cleaning robot vacuum? ->We just got an S8 Ultra and it's great. The mop does a decent job but stuck on or big messes need manual intervention. With things that are stuck we have success in just pretreating with cleaner and letting it sit and then telling the robot to mop the area.
r/homeassistant • What's your TOP PICK for the best Robot Vacuum Mop today? ->While robot vacuums do not replace hand vacuuming or mopping from a "deep clean" perspective, the Roborock S8 Ultra has turned those into an 'every other month' activity for my pet-owning household. YMMV depending on what it would need to tackle for your home, but the in-depth customisation and time saved has made it the best appliance I've spent money on in the last few years. YouTube channels 'The Hook Up' and 'Vacuum Wars' do good comparison videos and might help you get an idea of what you can expect.
r/homeautomation • Can robot vacuum truly deep clean your home? ->I got the MaxV at Costco a few months ago and love it. Have all hardwood floors with 1 area rug and does a great job. This is with 1 cat and one drooling toddler.
r/Roborock • What’s the biggest difference? ->Lmao these numbers i bought an s8 refurbished with 20 hrs usage for 200 and it changed my life
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->Also have an s8 with vibrarise. I’ve read that the super “in” dual rotating mops aren’t proven to be better than vibrarise. What I will say is that I think mops on robot vacuums are still a “maintainer/extender” feature than a true mop up stains type of feature. If you manually mop, the s8 will make it so you have to do it less often. It’s not a replacement for that first initial manual mop. Besides that, I’ve enjoyed the s8 as it was an upgrade from my original s4. Obstacle avoidance is pretty good, although, I’m just used to tidying up before running it now a days.
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->I have 4 cats and we use a RoboRock 8 or 9. My bedroom is the only one it's not allowed in because the sound of it gets on my nerves, but it's noticeable when I do my weekly bedroom vacuums compared to the rest of the house. The only place there is still har around the house is when the furniture sits and blocks the robovac. Otherwise it's doing a fantastic job
r/BuyItForLife • Pet owners, what's the best robot vacuum for TONS OF PET HAIR that's worked really well? ->Trust me you don’t need to drop $1800 on a robot vacuum. Any decent flagship Roborock will do, S8s or one of the higher end Q Revos. Saros is great but again you don’t really need them. Would avoid the other ones.
r/Roborock • Should I drop $1800 on a robot vacuum or go cheaper? ->I have had my new Saros 10R for a bit over a month now and I am so obsessed with it I keep recommending it to all of my friends. I have two floors, with an S8 upstairs that I really liked. Until now, I used to carry it downstairs whenever I needed it. The 10R caught my attention, especially for its rotating mop system. Even though it is almost 4 times the current price of the S8, I’m really happy with it. In the end, it’s the price of an iPhone, but it’s truly an excellent robot that I use every day ✅ **The advantages**: • **The battery!!** Lasts MUCH better than the S8. It cleans 100m² in one go without any problem, even on high vacuuming modes. • Very effective even on carpets. I groom and sometimes trim my dog’s hair on the carpet and it vacuums everything quite well! It lifts its mops before going over them and can even leave them at the base. • Avoids obstacles (cables, clothes on the floor, etc.) *way* better than the S8. I would always have to make sure there’s no socks on the floor with the S8 otherwise it’d get stuck in it most of the times. • The rotating mops clean my floors really well! S8 was pretty bad at mopping ( still better than what I used to do myself). They’re automatically washed with hot water and dried after use. I checked several times, and they really do come out clean and dry. • Not too noisy. It’s a bit loud when rinsing the mops, but it doesn’t last long. The cleaning is less loud than the S8. It also has a silent mode, which is good enough to watch TV but not to have an online meeting in the same room IMO. • Much more precise and careful around walls! It doesn’t bump into them. • Lots of customization options, especially for water usage in each room, perfect for wooden floors. • Somehow manages to fit underneath my super low bed, which I struggled to clean myself with a regular vacuum cleaner. ❌ **What I don’t like: ** • The base is huge (but looks nice, luckily!). Note that I haven’t had any other bases before so I can’t compare with what size they normally are. • Sometimes it still gets stuck between chairs or in spots where, at this price range, I had hoped it wouldn’t. But this is really occasional. • Once in a while it’s overly cautious: if my dog is in the way or if there’s a tight passage, it can hesitate too much, waste time, and sometimes even decide to just return to the base instead of doing its job Nothing else to complain about: honestly, I don’t see how they can make the next one better! If you’re hesitant about getting it, I I really recommend it. I wasn’t unhappy with my S8, but this is just on another level. Best purchase of the year for me!
r/Roborock • Obsessed with my Saros 10R ->If all you care about is the vacuuming performance, the dyson robot vacuum is the best performer (especially against fine dust and deep carpets), If you want other commodities/features, then the roborock S7 is good. The s8 and newer units have more features but decreased vacuuming performance. I wouldn't get a roomba unless you value support/warranty the most, irobot vacuums aren't the best anymore but they do support their machines for a long time and support is better than what you will get with roborock/dreame/dyson. Regardless of what you choose, modern robot vacuums will do a good job.
r/malelivingspace • Best Robot Vacuums most commonly picked during this time period? ->No it's not bad advice, vacuumwars tests are often not representative of real world scenarios and fail to mention some of the degradation modern releases have had over older robot vacuums. To be fair, on his review of the S8, he did mention the reduction in performance over the S7, however, he didn't showcase how bad it is compared to the old S7 (particularly against deep carpets and tiled floors). You can see what I mean on this channel: [https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ](https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ) , the owner uses multiple carpets of different density and materials, uses certified test dust along with other challenges that you'd expect robot vacuums to be able to deal with (tiled floors, hard floors, etc). You can find similar reviews on asian blog posts (chinese & japanese in particular), where roborock gets way more critiques for overhyping their products and reducing the quality of new releases while having zero after-sales support.
r/malelivingspace • Best Robot Vacuums most commonly picked during this time period? ->Looks Like an S8 , Amazon had them on sale last week for $350 (white only) I picked one up too. Seems like this is the last standalone model they offer. All the new series are only offered with a dock that will do self emptying and other fancy stuff.
r/Roborock • Brand new to robot vacuums, very happy with this purchase. ->I have had excellent results with Roborock S8s and Saros 10R with Home Assistant. All of my Roborock app routines were fully integrated into Home Assistant as entities. Now I can run every aspect right from Home Assistant, and by extension, through Alexa using voice routines. This is fantastic! I have used other robovacs with home assistant, but I have never had them integrate so well! Since Roborock robovacs are the only thing I am qualified to talk about, I will make some suggestions. I, personally, would avoid automatically detangling roller brushes. They do detangle very well. But they do not clean as well, especially with lots of pet hair and on rugs and carpets. The dual roller systems take a few minutes to maintain, but they clean much, much better than the single split roller systems that auto detangle. Personally, I would seriously consider something along the lines of a Roborock Qrevo Master. It is a great compromise between dock automation and good vacuuming ability. It has the dual rollers systems for excellent vacuuming, a mostly automated dock, but it does make some compromises. It is a bit more than you want to spend. But it is an excellent system that offers a lot at a much lower price than other models.
r/RobotVacuums • advice on Mid ranged vacuum, heavy pet hair, home assistant friendly ->That depends entirely on what kind of obstacles and thresholds you need to overcome. Keep in mind that these are primitive cleaning machines, even the fancy, expensive ones. Expecting much more from them is a bit ridiculous. The only reason to get the new, fancy navigation system with better obstacle avoidance is if one's home is a mess and/or there is a risk of pet waste on the floor. The new navigation system is only a bit better, not much better than lidar. And it is far from perfect. I pick all the stuff on our floors up (mostly cat toys) before vacuuming anyway. The fancy obstacle avoidance features are wasted on me. I have a Saros 10R. I much prefer my old lidar S8s for their significantly better vacuuming ability and because they are much faster at getting the job done. Shiny floors with reflections, mirrors, strange carpet patterns and more all mess with the navigation system in the Saros 10R. It may be better, but to me it feels like the machine is insecure, hesitant and spends too much time futzing around with anything it doesn't like. I want it to move along and get the job done. The Saros 10R also wanders around the house once in a while before picking back up and getting back on task. The new navigation system is very cool, but I find it annoying to use in practice. How big are your thresholds? I have a big one beneath the door from our house into the garage. The Saros 10R can climb over this one and our S8s cannot. Otherwise, we have several other thresholds in our house that are over an inch tall and are all right angles (nothing that looks like a ramp at all). Our S8s may not be graceful at it, but they always get over them. I have one threshold which is closer to an inch and a half. I made a little ramp for it that works very well and looks like it belongs where it is. It looks nice in our home. Our S8s climb this ramp just fine. In case this is useful, if one removes the mops or leaves them in the dock when vacuuming only, a robovac can climb thresholds better than with its mops attached. All the cool stuff in the marketing videos are all done under ideal conditions. Please do not expect anything like what you see in the videos to work that well in the real world. Lastly, a robot vacuum cleaner is simply a vacuum cleaner with some cool features. If it can't vacuum clean very well, it isn't useful to me. For me, the Saros 10R was a very fancy, impressive, expensive mistake. A Qrevo Master for $700 less would have served me much better and left me with a cleaner house. Here is an idea! Get a Qrevo Master and I will trade you my Saros 10R for it! 😁 I hope this helps!
r/Roborock • Saros 10R vs Saros 10R&D ->We have pets, people with long hair, and lots of hair in our house. Our charging dock only, base model $350 Roborock S8s with 6000Pa of suction power vacuum cleans much, much, much better than our $1500 Roborock Saros 10R with 18500Pa of suction power.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum and mop ->Lots and lots of hair can be a problem for any robovac. They are very small machines with very small dustbins. Anything with decent vacuuming ability will require more frequent maintenance. A Qrevo Master should do a great job, but there is the possibility it may not. For anything you choose in the end, I suggest you thoroughly vacuum your home with a good upright first, before you start using the robovac. From there, use your robovac often!!! I suggest at least every other day. Check you dustbin often before it gets emptied by the dock. If it is about 2/3rds or more full before the dock empties it, increase the emptying frequency so that the robovac returns to the dock more often for emptying. Also, make sure the suction in the dock is set to maximum when it empties the robovac dustbin. Any robovac with a self emptying dock has an extra tiny dustbin. Sometimes vacuuming huge amounts of hair can be achieved more successfully with something like a $350 base model, charging dock only S8. It's dustbin is much larger. This means you will have to empty it yourself. But the robovac will go much further before this is necessary. I use two basic S8s. Each vacuums half of my house. When they are done, I take them to my garbage can and empty the dustbin. Then I remove the rollers, pull of the ends and remove the wound up hair. I also use two air filters in rotation. The dirty one gets rinsed well under hot tap water and is set aside to dry for at least 48 hours. A clean, thoroughly dry one is put back into the dustbin and you are ready to roll. This should be done with any robovac weekly. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. It takes me a few minutes and it is very easy to do. For this effort, I get excellent vacuuming ability and I do not have to spend 90 minutes vacuuming our house. The most important thing for me is that I do not have to revacuum my house with an upright after the robovac is done. I hope this helps!
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum and mop ->Vacuum cleaning ability on rugs and carpets is the most important aspect of a robovac for me. I have a Saros 10R. It is a very mediocre vacuum clean no matter what settings are selected. I have other much cheaper robovacs that vacuum clean much better than the Saros 10R. If you need either fancy features, a fully automated dock and run the risk of having animal waste on the floor, I would consider a Saros 10 or 10R. They also excell at fitting under things because they are so thin. If vacuum cleaning rugs and carpets is of prime importance, I would stick with a Qrevo or S8. More specifically, I would stick with any model that has dual rubber rollers. One has to spend two minutes maintaining them after a large cleaning, but they do an excellent job. No amount of fancy, automated features, or a roller that automatically detangles hair, can make up for a mediocre vacuuming job on rugs and carpets. Avoid the split single rollers! Go for the dual rollers! If you only have hard floors without any rugs or carpets, almost and robovac will do a decent job and you have far more options! I hope this helps! I would much rather live without my Saros 10R (US$1500) than one of my S8s (US$350)!!!!!
r/Roborock • Roborock Qrevo Curve or Saros 10r ->Yes, laminate is not real wood, and I can mop as often as I want. It is very different than hardwood floors. The ability to follow floor directions came within the last two generations of robovacs. Both my Roborock S8s and my Saros 10R have this setting. Other robovacs from other manufacturers also have this setting. Not all do, but it is no longer uncommon.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot for hardwood/parquet? ->There is no best robovac. There are no miracle machines. They all have strengths and significant weaknesses. How well we learn to use their strengths to our advantage and overcome their weaknesses plays an important part in our success with any robovac. But, we all still want and love them! All robovacs, no matter how fancy and expensive, are made with cheap plastic parts. They are not built to be durable at all. They have just enough computing power and memory to get the job done. This applies to all manufacturers. A $1500 robovac only has $150 worth of cheap parts in it, just like our cell phones. They can only do 90-95% of the floor cleaning job. The rest is always up to us. All robovacs with auto detangling rollers and over about 10KPa of suction power vacuum poorly, especially on rugs and carpets, compared to the previous two generations of robovacs. But they do navigate, avoid obstacles, auto detangle hair, and mop very well. What this means is that the more convenient and maintenance free a robovac is, the poorer it vacuums. This is the current reality of the industry. We have collectively selected convenience and laziness over performance, and the market has responded accordingly. It would be very helpful if you describe your needs a bit more. Do you have hard floors, rugs, carpets, tall thresholds, multiple floors, pets and people with long hair, etc. This would be very helpful in making a recommendation that may address your specific needs. Since you specifically mention mopping ability as important to you I will mention that good mopping depends almost entirely on good vacuuming ability. If your floors have been thoroughly vacuumed first, all current mopping systems work well if floors are vacuumed first and then mopped very often. Most current mopping systems do not pick anything up from the floor. They just wipe the surface with a damp pad. Mopping with any robovac is more like adding a shine and finish rather than a deep cleaning. No robovac is good at big messes yet, and they are usually best cleaned up ourselves. One thing of note is that since all mopping sustems perform well and are dependant on good vacuuming, how the mops are cleaned becomes the biggest factor. Spinning mops require a very simple, easy to maintain and low maintenance mechanism that is very effective to clean the mops. Both vibrating pads and roller mop systems require more complicated mechanisms. I don't like the ones for vibrating pads. They require the most maintenance. Roller mops are the way of the future. In a year or two, all robovacs will use roller mops or something similar in my opinion. But current roller mop systems have not convinced me yet. For the time being, I prefer spinning mops. Just keep in mind, that if your priority is vacuuming ability, like mine is, you need to look back at older, simpler robovacs that require a bit more weekly maintenance. It is not all that time consuming or difficult, but it does have to get done. This is the cost of good vacuuming performance, and ultimately leads to good mopping performance. I use a pair of $350, base model, charging dock only Roborock S8s for all of my vacuuming. Each one does half of our house. I do this because they vacuum very, very well, especially on rugs and carpets. I also have a Roborock Saros 10R. It is very impressive in so many ways, and it mops very well. But it is a terrible vacuum cleaner compared to my S8s. I only use it to vacuum our garage floor because I don't care about it as much as the rest of the house. Otherwise, it is a very fancy, very expensive mop. The reasons it vacuums so poorly are described above. I hope this helps!
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum mop? no budget ->The key to good mopping is always good vacuuming first. Our cheap S8s do a really great job vacuuming stuff out of the cracks between our laminate floor panels. We get a lot of cat litter stuck in our floor cracks all the time. The simple rubber rollers do a great job getting the cat litter out. Only very rarely do they leave anything behind. Fortunately, once the floors have been thoroughly vacuumed, any mopping system including vibrating pads, spinning mops and roller mops do an excellent job. Appempting to mop any floor with a robovac that has not been thoroughly vacuumed first is pointless and may even lead to scratches in the flooring. Roller mops probably do the best job over all, but if the floors get regularly vacuumed and mopped, and especially if the floors get thoroughly vacuumed before mopping, the practical difference in the results between mopping systems is almost meaningless. Good vacuuming first is far more important than the mopping system itself. I hope this helps!
r/RobotVacuums • Which mop focused bot for tiles with irregular and partially deeper joints ->S8 I had to take tangles out weekly. Very little to no tangling with the 10R
r/Roborock • Not impressed the Saros 10R so I'm going to try the Saros 10. For $1300, it shouldn't be worse at vacuuming than my S8+. I've heard the 10 is better in this regard so hoping that's the case. It's still on sale so I'm going to give it a go and return the 10R back to Amazon. ->I have the Roborock 8 and it's vacuuming since two years two times a day and it still works like a charm
r/BuyItForLife • Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2025 ->I replace regularly the filter and once the brush, but these are maintenance parts
r/BuyItForLife • Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2025 ->I changed it two times right now
r/BuyItForLife • Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2025 ->I just replaced them, because I got them for free buying the vacuum ^^ Now I just wash it with water. I don't notice any performance loss. I just do it to take care of it.
r/BuyItForLife • Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2025 ->About once a month
r/BuyItForLife • Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2025 ->I have Roborock S7/S8, it's very reliable and worth the price. I've had it for 4 years now. Just need to keep the sensors clean and filters monthly.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Robot Vacuum that Lasts? ->Second the OP. I'd recommend getting a Roborock or similar with self emptying vacuum. It works best on hardwood floors. Carpet not so much. Look into robots with high suction power. Like the other OP, you will still need to dyson up nooks and crannies manually, but the ability to schedule frequent self vacuum in high traffic areas cuts down on your workload significantly. The self mopping feature imo is not worth it, but maybe the newest models have improved. From experience, you will want robots that can detect animals (I've seen videos where the robot runs over the dogs tails, gets stuck, and terrifies the dogs). Also look for ones that can detect objects like poop, so you don't come home to a Jackson pollock painting. Look into the clearance height of the robot as well, and compare to your furniture if you are looking to have the robot go under couches and stuff. For example, our roborock barely fits under the couch, and even with 1 cm clearance, will avoid going under the couch if it detects the under-couch fabric is hanging too low (we fixed this by reholstering the bottom of the couch). Worth mentioning if you work from home that the self emptying vacuum feature can get loud, but it is usually very brief and you should be able to schedule emptying times. The robot vacuum companies get you on the replacement parts, which are not cheap. You do get what you pay for though, and routine maintenance (cleaning sensors, replacing brushes, untangling hair from rollers) goes a long way in longevity. I haven't found a robot vacuum that does not pick up hairs in the dog roller yet, so expect to periodically open up the robot to remove hair (usually very easy). For replacement parts, you can go third party for cheaper. Especially so when buying replacements for big brand/popular models. For example, you can get an unofficial 5 pack of vacuum bags for the self emptying vacuum for the same cost as 1 official one (or something like that). For carpets, I'd just go with those manual carpet brushes. Picks up way more hair more efficiently than any vacuum. Just my 2 cents.
r/goldenretrievers • Roomba vs Goldens? ->Roomba's have pretty subpar mapping & navigation compared to most other brands. We have one (older) Roomba that relies on VSLAM for navigation and one Roborock that uses LiDAR; the difference is night and day. I would avoid iRobot on that alone until they change their tech.
r/Roborock • Best robot without a dock ->For the price (£250) I am very impressed with mine. Its got LiDAR, a mop, empties itself, etc. Its really neat to watch on the app as it goes about your house and maps it out. Its only gotten stuck twice, and both times were on the same chair that has horizontal bars at floor level that it can get over if it runs at it head on, but can high side itself if approaching from an angle. Definitely does not replace vacuuming as a whole though as it just cant physically get into the corners, and the vacuum itself isnt enough to really suck stuff out of the carpet, more just pick up things on top. I treat it more like a broom than anything else, but having a pet it helps me keep on top of things.
