"Be able to go over bath mats/water absorbent mats well. When my robot goes over it, it constantly lifts the edge up and makes it look like it’s trying to hump the bottom side of the carpet. This doesn’t happen if I meticulously use the remote control function."

"The biggest issue for me is that the moist chunks gum up the vac tray in the dock and I have to clean it regularly. ... It’s the plumbing that empties the dust from the vacuum. The robot scoops up wet barf chunks that get in the dust bin and when the dock empties the dust bin the wet chunks stick to the dock and when they dry it’s like concrete since they mix with cat hair and dust that gets swept up. I have to unscrew the dust bin emptying chute and clean it in the sink and sometimes need a screwdriver to scrape the stuff off."

I have a roborock S8 - it does an ok job - valetudo is not supported yet as roborock have gone to lengths to prevent it using different encryption keys on the bootloader, I guess they want your data and need it connected to their cloud. Maybe this is because it has two cameras on it. The dust bin is small so if you have carpets it fills up quickly with fibres. The option for auto emptying dock is very expensive The solution is to vacuum more often than you would normally then it doesn't fill up so fast. If you are privacy focussed and want valetudo look at what is supported and recommended by those folks

I will say the mop function doesn’t do a perfect job but it’s good enough to keep me sane throughout the work week. I have it vacuum and mop every day during the week and then on the weekend I have it do a double vacuum and I steam mop once myself. I clean the unit and change the mop pad once a week and that seems to be good enough.

Flagship Saros 10 is using vibrarise too but its a bit more updated and has more vibration and downward pressure. Not sure how big of a difference in terms of performance it is compared to the S8. If you can find S8 for a good price then I think you wont be disappointed I also think when choosing between rotating and Vibration mops its about preference and what type of floor you have. The rotating mops are using more water I believe and could have a tendency to leave wet streaks on floors
r/Roborock • Is the VibraRise System of the S8 worth it? ->I prefer the s8 maxv ultra over the edge (returned the edge) the vacuuming is significantly better on the s8. The mopping is okay compared to the edge. My floors actually seemed worse with dirt after using the edge.
