Roborock. I have a q5 and an S8 Max v ultra. Both awesome machines.

I've been really happy with my s8 mvu, but you might want to wait a little while and grab it on sale during prime days. I think i paid $1099 last black Friday.

After much research, bought this for my wife as a mother's day/house warming gift. It is the most amazing smart tech I've purchased. Need to get one for the second floor now.

I don't know if it's required. We use the cloud app rather than HA for advanced features like pet finder. I only use HA to display various status. The official local API that HA uses is incredibly lacking, and this robot is far too expensive to sacrifice all of the advanced features by not using the cloud. In fact, if you aren't going to use the cloud, I'd consider using a different vac due to the features you'll lose but have paid for.

If you have carpets 100% go for a S8 Max V Ultra as the hair pickup on them is nearly twice is good as Saros. Saros is better Ai and obstacle avoidance but not as good as cleaning.

I have the roborock s8 max v ultra but I wish I had waited and gotten the new curve one. It’s ok but the specs on the curve are so much better. I’ll probs wait for the new models next year that should come out Q2 2025. I have 2 British shorthair cats that have a lottttt of shedding.

I recently upgraded my Eufy X10 pro to the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Holy mother fucking god. The difference. I thought eufy mopped the floor well but this really cleans the floor. Like it felt clean! Wow. I have 2 cats 1 short hair 1 long hair, didn't leave any fluff on the floor at all. I'm so amazed, let's see how it performs in 3 months time.

Definitely too high, even for my Roborock S8MaxVUltra, it's supposed to be high pile friendly it struggles, the side brush is the main issue as it spins and gets caught and tangled in the carpet

I just got the Roborock S8MaxVUltra because my 2 cats shed so much hair it killed my Eufy X10 Pro Omni. Haven't had an issue with this one 👍🏼 this one definitely seems a lot smarter with AI too

I have had 3 roborocks over the years and they have worked great! My S7 max V ultra travel 180miles before I upgraded to the S8 Max V ultra. Had my S4 since it came out over 8 years ago and still use it for our basement. Also have the Dyad. Roborock makes the best robot vacuums by far.

By far my favorite Roborock so far. At least you have the suction power if you ever need it. But you gotta let that MaxV, MaxV every once in a while. 😂 Roborock has the vibrating mop pad system honed down. There’s some benefits to spinning and rolling, but the vibrating pad system is dang good also.

There are other robot vacuums that outperform the S8 series, like the Dyson 360 Nav. Nothing compares to it. However, I'm with you on the Saros line. The Z70 (which is based off the Saros 10R) doesn't get close to my Robo S8 MaxV Ultra on carpet. There seems to be some sacrifices made in order to achieve the thinner body style (and in my case, accommodate the arm).

You really can’t go wrong if you are willing to spend $1000+ and pick a flagship model. My personal experience is Narwal Freo Z Ultra has the best AI avoidance for things like cords or strings. The brush is also tangle free, allegedly. So that would be great for your cats. Get it at Costco so you can return it if it breaks two years from now or you just don’t like it. Currently on sale too for about $400 off. My second choice would Eufy S1 Pro if mopping is the most important to you. Wait for it to go sale at Amazon for $999. Its AI avoidance is very good, but carpet performance suffers. I’d recommend Roborock but I haven’t owned one yet that doesn’t run right over cords. I have the S8 Max V Ultra. No experience with Dreame or Ecovacs/Yedi. Stay away from iRobot.

I've owned the top line Roomba 5 years ago. The thibg constantly broke down, needed parts. The accesories to put in doorways to block passage were a pain, thed get kicked out of maxVplace. It vacuumed cat puke and spread it all over my good wool rug. When it broke down for the last time, i gave it away and bought a Shark. Which was pretty good for a low price robot. But last year when it vaced up cat poop and spread it all over the floor. It was too badly full of poop to save, we tossed it. I read reviews to find the best, only one with a camera with AI with pictures of poop to recognize and avoid was Roborock. Unfortunatly they discontinued the camera model due to privacy concerns. CES REVIEW was in love with roborock s8maxV ultra. I waited 4 months for it to be released April 22 and was one of the first to order. Its been running for a month and I love it. Someone will top it, Dreamtech maybe but right now its the best and worth the $1800. It sends me pictures of obstacles, I can view a video feed while its running and it keeps learning everytime it runs.

Can verify. Went through 3 other vacuums. No need to go any further. This vacuum does the job. 3 dogs 3 cats and an Italian wife. Our floors look great. Hard woods and medium pile carpet. Love it

After testing several, I just settled on the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and I think it works really well!!!

I really wanted to stay on The frugal side. After having three, I got really used to the idea of what they're supposed to do, but became very frustrated at the limitations of what the ones that I had were doing. And since I'd already sent three back, I was already in the mindset of well. If this one doesn't work I'll send it back too. But when I got it and tried it I was like wow this is what I've been wanting it to do. I still hate spending the money because it's not cheap and I don't make the kind of money that people who own these types of expenditures have, but I like how this performs so I'm going to keep it.

I have both and am currently testing both. They really don't directly compete. The S1 Pro is a very good mop, but because it holds dirty water that also contains solids it means a good bit more maintenance that needs to be performed on the robot and quite frequently imo. Besides that the vacuum performance is nowhere near as good as Roborock and there is a missed opportunity with the square design to not have a large brush roller up front. Instead it is centered and small. Object avoidance works pretty good. The app is decent but is real basic with not a lot of options to change. The accuracy of zone cleaning is wildly off. With that said Eufy is making some impressive products lately.

Well the main issue is they don't really compete. S8 MaxV Ultra is a flagship at $1800 and the S1 Pro is $1000. What is your budget?

I'm not saying it is worth the extra money at all that is really up to you if you want to pay for the extra features, but it does have a ton more features hardware and software wise. If you asked 20 people some would say yes and some would say no to whether the S8 MaxV is worth more money. What I have learned is to not recommend one robot over the another because my needs and wants are different than others. I also tend not to comment much on robots before my reviews are out and I let my reviews act as a guide for people to help make their decisions. Roborock struggles to avoid objects on carpet. Put it on hard floors and it will likely avoid it 9 times out of 10 even with the basic models like the Qrevo S with a single light sensor. This is why I always run my ovject avoidance tests on carpet. I find most pets tend to have accidents on rugs or carpet and since it is more difficult for all robots not just Roborock, testing object avoidance on carpet usually means if it succeeds there then it will succeed on hard floors. I'm not sure why other reviewers have not picked up on this yet especially Vacuum Wars. If you want the best object avoidance (from Roborock) on carpet specifically with animal waste the best options are the S8 MaxV and the Qrevo Slim. Through all my years testing it feels like Roborock has not invested in object avoidance as their tech has not really improved much since the S6 MaxV which was groundbreaking when it launched. Companies like Eufy, Narwal and Dreame have invested and are way ahead. It is always best to pickup prior to running a robot, but I do understand that many people prefer to run them on a schedule when not at home.

While I have not tested the S10 I have tested the S1 Pro. Here are my thoughts for comparison. 1. A roller mop on a robot will mop better and clean better that a spinning or vibrating mop. 2. A roller mop will require a good bit more hands on maintenance than a spinning or vibrating mop since it remove dirt and debris from the floors it has to have a filter inside that must be cleaned by hand. For the S1 this was every 2 cleanings of my home. 3. A roller mop does not have edge cleaning abilities. The S1 Pro is much closer than the Switchbot which is pretty dismal with edge cleaning. 4. IMO you are better buying a Qrevo S or Pro and supplementing with a Flexi or Dyad mop which mops better than any robot and has the best edge cleaning ability. I actually tested this theory yesterday. I had spilled dried up coffee stain under the kickplate of my kitchen cabinets. The S8 MaxV with the side mop barley touched it. The Qrevo MaxV did little to nothing with it. The Dreame X30 and X40 did nothing with it. The S1 Pro could not reach it. I broke out the Flexi Pro and it removed it all in 3 passes. People really overthink mopping and edge mopping with a robot. They spend crazy money and go through all types of effort in attempt to have a robot completely replace mopping by hand. Robots at least today don't effectively replace deep mopping. They are designed to keep the floors clean in between deeper mopping once or twice a month thus your floors appear to remain clean daily with less effort than hand mopping daily. If you are going to buy a roller mop and go through the same maintenance you have to perform with a Flexi Pro or Dyad Pro then why not just use a Flexi Pro and a Qrevo. To me that is the best combo and best way to keep your floors completely clean. I have said this for years.

My anecdote that's not as valuable as a professional review is that when we bought ours a couple years ago the combo of the Roomba Brava Jet + j7/9+ was better than most of the mop-and-vac units. I have both Qrevo and S8. They have completely different self cleaning mechanisms. Qrevo is way easier to clean than S8 ultra max. Less parts to clean and possibly getting stuck . However Qrevo is much taller. That’s something to consider.

I have a maine coone so theres always fluff balls all over the house. I also have tile all throughout the house so you can feel when the floor is dirty. So bought an S8 Max Ultra that run anytime we leave the house. No more fluff balls. No more dirty floor. Its great.

10R does not clean better than the 10 since the latter can put more down pressure hence better with though stains. 10R dock much more uncomplicated to clean as any other rotating system. The S8 maxv is quite expensive tbf at that price, I wouldn’t buy it for more than 900-1k probably. And 10 at that price also not worth it. Are you able to get the Curv or edge or even the QRevo master ? If it has to be absolutely those two then I would go for the 10 because it has the duo divide roller, lifts the side brush which is also tangle free, new robot and dock design, but I reckon prob most people would/should get the maxv

Master uses rotating pads the S8 vibrating. Obstacles avoidance on master uses camera but no 3D laser, on max 3D laser but no RGB camera. I would bet even like this it’s better on the max you can check video reviews for q Revo maxv which uses the same system as master. Dock on master is easier to clean. That’s about it

QRevo maxv is still on sale at Costco for a little over $800. I’ve had mine for about a month and love it. I think it will check all your boxes and it’s Costco so returns are easy- even years later.

I remember I was thinking my robot was broken on the first day. I quickly went putting all full carpet rooms together in one routine with vac only mode. Doing so also avoids mop washing before the job. And the vaccuuming is as quick as it should be. Same for the tiled rooms with vac + mop. I even have a third routine to do vac only on the tiles. I run it about 2-3 times as often as vac+mop.

Dreame is for the lazy who are not willing to tidy their mess, lol. I guess you have been reading too much rant from WideCrab. Seriously, OA works well on most larger objects. It sucks on cords and small parts. It is dangerous to trust it if you have a risk for pet accidents. I even bought another old Q7Max without any OA after I already had a Qrevo MaxV. Guess why -- because I don't need the OA. The bumper does the job, better than some might imagine.

S7 / S8 Ultra docks have an extra complex mop washer which is not needed in a Qrevo. It tends to get messy in the dock tray and the thing is hard to clean because it's not removable. Furthermore it makes the docks expensive and thus less economical. If you can't stand your appliance being covered with residue, don't buy. The revo tech needs less maintenance.

All MaxV models, plus Qrevo Master which is an exception to the naming conventions. The camera isn't just for better obstacle avoidance. It can be used to transmit live video feed to the mobile app. The newer models can do AI based object identification. Although I highly doubt this will result in better cleaning performance. Agreed on the Eufy. If poop avoidance is a must, the Eufy S1 Pro is probably the recommendation. Dreame could be an alternative. Roborock is not on par with these.

I over researched this and realized I dont need anything more than the qrevo maxV, if I got the Saros it wouldnt make a difference in day to day cleaning. Go with Costco and get that infinite warranty

Not sure why you’re not sold on the mopping part. The mopping is great on my Qrevo MaxV

also had the s5 before, the s8 is so much better in light mopping. you should get one with a station, like tha maxv ultra. it cleans the mop like every x minutes and its perfect.

Hello everyone, I recently acquired the mentioned model, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed. Setting it up and syncing it with the app was incredibly straightforward. On the same day, we sent it on a mapping mission around our 90m² apartment, and within 20 minutes, it had comprehensively covered the space. Given our lively Shiba Inu, we opted to run the vacuum at night while we slept. The next morning, the results were visibly impressive. The following day, we decided to put the mopping function to the test, and although it took Rocky a bit longer, we were equally pleased with the outcome. Operating it via the app is intuitive and user-friendly, suitable for beginners. The standout feature, undoubtedly, is its obstacle detection using the camera. I must admit, this is my first robotic vacuum, but after just two days, I can't imagine life without it, let alone settling for anything less.

Yeah I also like that feature. We realized how dirty each room ultimately is. What I haven't figured out yet is how to add another room to a running program. I know you can add zones, but they are arranged in squares and don't fit every room we have. Another thing I haven't figured out is how to make Rocky clean the hard floors of the room first, i.e., vacuum and mop, and then vacuum the carpets of the room last. I've seen that there's the function to go for the carpets of the entire apartment first and then proceed with the regular cleaning process. I miss the feature, cleaning floors first and carpets last...

I’ve had my S8 MaxV Ultra for a few months now and the self cleaning dock function works fantastically for me. Inspected it the other day to see if it needed to be cleaned and it was basically spotless, and I run the robot everyday.

Not worth it. Paid full price for the S8 maxv ultra last year and It not worth it I can tell you. Go cheaper.

Until these later models came out, the S8 maxv ultra was my favorite

1. Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and 3i S10 Ultra. 2. Switchbot K10+ Pro/Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra 3. Dreame X50/Saros 10 4. Most of these robots are produced in Asia. As such, support is rough for most of the companies. They go on holiday and the support department shuts down entirely. Their support is on overnight for us in the US. If support was the biggest issue, I'd look at US based brands.

The floors are still dirty when it's done. I have to mop when it's done. I have textured tiles which might make a difference.

Completely overpriced. Completely worth it. 1. I have nothing else to compare it to. My guess - you will get like 80-90% of the functions for half the price or less. So it it worth to pay twice the price for a little extra? Depends if you can afford it or not, how it affects your budget. But yeah, its expensive but really good!

This is the worst robot vacuume I've ever owned. It gets stuck on every single thing and finds ANYTHING it can to suck up and get disabled. It hasn't run a full cycle in months because of that. We have hardwood floors and rugs, and this robot seems to "sweep" all of the dirt and cat hair to the edges of all of the rugs for us to have to go and sweep up manually later. Obstacle avoidance is a joke. My last robot was a roomba i7 and it was great. We only upgraded because the mapping was better on this one, it had "better obstacle avoidance" (what a joke) and it could mop without intervention as well as cleaning the mop head on its own. The surface level stuff looks really good (like the maps and mopping stuff), but that stuff is worthless if it can't even do a single vacuume cycle without getting stuck. If I could return this, I would. I hate it. Not to mention the price...... sigh. Maybe I just got a bad one, but this thing is terrible, and I can't understand how all of these reviews look so good all the time. I can't wait to get something different. I really just based my decision on cleaning performance, and for my needs and budget Roborock ended up being the best choice. They are on automations/schedules through home assistant so I can’t remember the last time I opened the app. Just checking it now I don’t see adds, but there is a tab for the store

Unfortunately, robot vacuums are one of those things where the budget versions really aren't going to cut it. You'll only get a decently capable machine if you're willing to shell out quite a bit of money (at least double what you're looking to spend). Right now we have a roborock s8 maxv ultra, and it has been a major improvement because with our pups shedding, the house really does need to be vacuumed daily. The cheaper robot vacuums we tried just didn't do a good job of picking the hair up and couldn't hold up to the daily use. I'd say for the time being, you're better off embracing a good handpush vacuum because you'll be able to get much more suction power for a whole lot cheaper.

Why do you anticipate pet poop in your house? Should be an extreme exception? Now while I knew this version sucked at identifying, I went with the S8 maxv ultra which has better detection.

We have the S8 MaxV Ultra with auto fill and drain dock connected to a water supply and drain line. Really really nice to not have to worry about emptying the dirty water reservoir and fill it up.

I thought the camera would help it identify obstacles like cables but it’s constantly getting jammed on those and socks and things… I have to clean up before I run it so can’t schedule cleanings.

I have 3 of this unit. 2 of which are standard and 1 of which is autofill and drain. The standard units have worked flawlessly. I am on my third autofill and drain since release. Roborock support was happy to replace them, but I’m concerned there is a flaw in the dock design.

I've been looking into it myself, than decided, to get a autofill station for My S7 MaxV Ultra as first and maybe wait for a more improved version of that S8 MaxV Ultra, since, they sadly have rushed it a bit and a few of the features aren't on point as they've said. Also, that trade in programm would probably give Me just 250-350$ back for My, now almost a Year in Heavy use, very dusty envoirment. So, eh, gotta do that and maybe put that S7 later on into the shop or soemthing or into the wharehouse, idk. ... Long story short, get one of those autofill stations, and maybe wait a year, at least that's what I'M planning to do since I have it in use almost daily as well. Also, those autofill stations are around 250-350$ on AliExpress, when they're on Sale, sometimes down to 175$, so get one if You can and wait a bit.

Roborock s8 maxV ultra. We’ve had it since August 2024 and it’s been so freaking reliable. Amazing machine. I’m so glad we waited and went for something high end.

I'll start by giving my past experience with robot vacuums. I first purchased an entry level Roomba about 6 years ago. After finding a lot of frustrations with the random cleaning patterns I decided to upgrade to the Roomba i7+ and M6 mop. The Roomba i7+ is a great machine and enjoyed it's use over the past 3 years unfortunately the M6 mop is and has always been a completely terrible machine. Now my first impression of the S8 max is amazing. It arrived very well packaged and was easily set up. The first mapping was very quick but did miss a few things, this was sorted by allowing the machine to do a complete clean of the apartment. This will improve with a few more runs :) Compared to both iRobot machines the roborock is a much quieter and performs a much deeper clean. I found the auto cleaning of the mop pad between rooms to be very fast and efficient. Once the robot had completed a complete mopping session the pad was completely washed and dried to the touch, only time will tell how is holds up. My apartment is mainly made up of hardwood floors with a few rugs so I'm very much looking forward to having clean floors and not being asked to fill the tank every other day. I will edit this small review if any problems arise over the next few days of running the robot but so far I'm very happy with the purchase and it's incredible how far these machines have come.

Well I can't prove it provides a deeper clean but my wooden and tiles floors look cleaner than when my M6 used to clean the floors.  You also seem to get full coverage with the S8 maxV compared to the M6 as it would spray infront and hope the pad gets completely wet I would imagine the vibration of the mop pad also helps with removing dirty which has become stuck to the floor.  Not an advertisement just personal experience - I wish they would have paid me instead

You have definitely picked a very good model to start in the robot world.  I've had mine now for 1 week and it's leaps and bounds better than i7+. My favourite function is the washing of mopping pad between rooms. I've checked the dirty water tank and very surprised with the amount of dirty removed. 

This is the main downside for me as well. I will probably sell them to a friend for 100 or 200 just to get them into the robot game 😂 I was surprised how well it avoided cables I forgot to move but my apartment is very much robot safe these days because of the i7+ With the i7+ I had set no go zones but the S8 dealt with these areas with no problems without the use of no go zones. As for the mopping feature it doesn't spray water like the M6. It has nozzles on the underside which keeps the mop wet so danger of the nozzles becoming blocked plus the robot empties itself between uses.  You can also select how often the robot will return to the base and carry out a clean of the mopping pad meaning floors get a deeper clean.  I'd love to hear your thoughts when it arrives 

Yep, I agree. We have both the original Qrevo and the S8 MaxV Ultra. The Qrevo dock is far easier to clean.

Mine eats cat toys faster than my cat does. The camera is no use at all on that.

Neither the s8 or QRevo is great with longer dog hair, our roombas are better for that, but for a Jack Russell the roborocks would probably be great.

I agree. As someone with an S8 MaxV, I wish the Ultra and new docks were available when I purchased. Roborock does a great job keeping the entire upstairs clean. (Engineered hardwood in 4 rooms with 1 carpet that It self identified and 2 tile bathrooms) mops 2x a week and vacs 7x a week

Did alot of research and settled on the new roborock S8 maxv ultra. Way over priced but heard great things about it. I will update with how it goes. Figured I can always return it. The price will be worth it if it keeps my floor clean. My boxer loves to shed and pee when I'm not watching lol.

I drew a bad card. Mop function kept jamming and support was slow to reply. It’s obviously a software bug as the vac function works and there is no obstructions.

I have two dogs, tile floors in main, some carpeting. I’ve had the Roborock S8 Max V a month now and I can honestly say it is a game changer. Works great and I have no issues. Vacuum and mop with self empty. It’s incredible. Buy from Amazon and get 90 day return I believe. But you’ll keep it.

I have had the S8 MaxV Ultra for a month now and I absolutely love it. It was a large expenditure for sure, but we found a way to rationalize it. The house looks great. Now if I can find a way to,get it to dust cabinets.

Coming from Roborock, which in my view has awful customer service, to Dreame, I was really concerned about an even worse experience based on forum feedback from owners. Maybe I'll regret it in the future, but so far my X40 Master has been out of sight, and out of mind. Everything stays clean (two dogs and a dog door, hardwood flooring), and the dock has an unlimited supply of water through our plumbing. The X50 Master doesn't seem to be available in North America yet, but I can't say enough good things about the X40 Master. I bought it and a Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra with the drainage:refill dock, and returned the Roborock after trying both. At CES 2025, Dreame did show off a fancy dock that can store and swap multiple sets of mop pads. That's really the only thing I'd love more at this point (I could go months and months without ever fiddling with the robot).

X2 clean mopping doesn't end with floor direction, and the baseboard mop spins when not by a baseboard. Leaving little swirly marks on the floor sometimes. Both could probably be fixed with an update.

The S8 MaxV ultra is last gen technology with its vibrating mop. I would choose the Dreame over the S8 max v as it has much better features, the app is just as good but the obstacle avoidance is leagues better. Is the Mova p10 pro ultra not available in your region? It's as good as the Dreame X40 while being significantly cheaper.

Fair enough. In that case it looks like Dreame made a huge improvement with object avoidance with the introduction of their "X" series like the X30 and X40. Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. Looking at all the comparisons, most rank the Slim above the S8 and the S7 and then the X40 is well beyond the Slim. It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent.

Dreame excels at object avoidance. The only decent roborocks are the S8 MaxV and the Slim but they are significantly worse than Dreame and Eufy at object avoidance. My QRevo slim fails to see cords and basic obstacles on carpet and hard floors while my Dreame X40 has zero issues seeing every obstacle and rarely gets stuck or caught on things.

Neither. 1) roborock has horrible obstacle avoidance, especially on carpet so they will eat cords, towels and socks so it's hard to run any of their vacuums on a schedule 2) the roborock s8 maxV ultra is a 2 year old design as this point and their sonic mopping system is outdated. It seems like they didn't want to cannibalize their QRevo line up and stacked on a silly side mop onto it. 3) the QRevo edge is good but if you are set on roborock, check out the QRevo slim as it has the best object avoidance out of all Roborocks but that isn't really a high bar to overcome as their robots have object avoidance that is comparable to a $400 robot. Personally since you have so much carpet, I would recommend the Dreame X40, L40 and the Mova P10 pro ultra (sub brand of Dreame). All have excellent hardfloor and carpet performance while also having class leading object avoidance. I currently have qrevo slim that I'm testing and a Dreame x40 ultra. The x40 just a far better cleaning system due to the object avoidance since I can run it daily.

robot was only 1month old and it start ramping against black objects like dining table legs and black sofa legs but can cleverly avoid my black shoe rack legs. reach out to their aftersales team but they say its not a defect so it does not warrant a replacement. was asked to buy reflective strips to put around the "black object" instead. subsequently, the team ghosted me and didt reply ever after.

I just got mine yesterday and already working with support because it is failing to dock right out of the box. So for the cost I am extremely unhappy with it just yet. Too expensive for something so essential to its function not to work.

I have two vacs in HomeKit via Matter at present, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, and the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni. Both offer a reasonable enough experience in Apple Home so far, although for both models, in terms of suction you only get minimum or maximum options - Min/Max for S8, Quick or Deep Clean for the Omni. I believe Switchbot’s models offer all four speeds, although the K10+ Pro didn’t have the relevant update at the time I had it (I gave it away). Of the two, I think the Roborock is better for a few reasons, but the Ecovacs does offer some features that may be more useful in some situations.

My house is about 3,500 sq ft with all hardwood floors, except for two bedrooms that have few rugs. There are five people, two cats, and a dog living here, so the house can get dirty rather quickly. The first robot vacuum I owned was the Dreame X30 Ultra. It was a decent enough model but broke down after two months, and I couldn’t get it fixed on multiple attempts. I replaced it with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, but it didn’t measure up to the X30. Its mopping and obstacle avoidance capabilities were subpar compared to Dreame’s, and don't even get me started on the pet hair on the roller, I decided it isn't worth the trouble and returned it within a month then resorted to manually cleaning for about 6 months. Later i found the 3i S10 Ultra and backed it on KS, it had a few hiccups initially, but the company had like 3 firmware updates within 2 weeks and resolved them. Now, it's BY FAR the best robot vacuum I’ve owned, it cleans thoroughly, hasn't gotten stuck once, and even refills its own water tank by dehumidifying and distilling air moisture. It simply gets the job done. It has been two months now, and I can’t imagine not having it, i didn't know 3i company before backing the project and only after i saw some negative comments regarding the company on their previous OEM/ODM products. But i gotta tell you, the company for sure have up their game for this 3i brand, this thing is every bit as solid as the roborock, and better than the dream, it's now $1499 on amazon, honestly i would still get it.

I've had mine for a few months now. Love it. I came from the Neato world when they discontinued operations. I dump the dirty water tank from he dock and refill the clean tank twice a week, since I mop on the same frequency. That way they're ready before it starts that operation. I vacuum daily and the bin empties with no issues. Just be sure to do their recommended maintenance. I clean the sensors weekly (wipe them down) and wash the mops in with the laundry every other week. Couldn't be happier at this point.

I used S8 maxv ultra for 2 months until it stopped auto- emptying. Best days of my life in terms of my vacuuming life, but trust has been broken once so ı returned it and got I Curv yesterday . So far for vacuuming- much quieter, uses extended side brush much better but less performance on rugs. Having tried moping on Curve yet.

I have it as well as a Q Revo Master. The frustrating thing about the S8 Max V Ultra is that the app will not let me name any rooms. It just assigned names that are not correct and there is no option to change the name. The Master let me edit tha room names easily. Maybe I am missing something in the app but in that case why is it so difficult with this than the Master.

I had a J6 and still have my J9. You can get a j6 for the price you want. (I gave it to my sister in law, works fine after 2 years) I bought a Roborock S8MV, so the J9 got the J6 spot and the J6 was kicked out.

I went in watching Zero reviews for the current flagships and bought the S8MV while on clearance at Best Buy. I've loved it since I set it up. I replaced my J9 and J6. (The J6 went to a family members, the J9 went to our upstairs FROG room) The object avoidance is fine on my Roborock, I had a cord snag day 1 and 2, once I got that area tidy'd up no issues since. Roomba's support for me has always been excellent. For example, they sent me a new vacuum motor for my J9 after warranty was up. I haven't had to use Roborock's and I've heard mixed reviews, I haven't heard a lot goof form Dreame, so that was a big factor for me. I believe all the flagships are excellent, and at this point we are splitting hairs. Go with your gut, which one do you want the most. BUY it!

I agree. That’s the only downside but mine is next to my sink so it’s really not too much bother.

We have four huskies, and wood floors with a super thick rug at the back door. I've used two roombas and a roborock; Roomba S9+, Roomba j9+ Combo, and Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. I've ditched the j9+ Combo entirely because it's pure trash. I've moved the S9+ to be purely our master bedroom bot. The Roborock is now our primary living space vacuum. So, dog breed aside, roombas in general seem to just suck (unironically, no pun intended). They've fallen way behind the curve and gotten way too comfortable with brand recognition. The J9+ was replaced 3 times on warranty and still couldn't reliably get around our house. 80% of the time I had to fix it being "stuck" on absolutely nothing. The S9+ didn't have this problem nearly so often, but has issues getting onto its charging base correctly. I've had zero issues with the Roborock in this regard. Breed specific stuff, the roombas have a HUGE problem with animal hair. Their rollers are not designed in any way that stops hair from getting wrapped up in the roller bits. On top of it, the roomba gives zero craps if the rollers are hitting strong resistance and will just keep trying to spin. So with huskies filling the house with new massive fur tumbleweeds on a daily basis, the rollers would A) get animal hair wedged into their metaly rotatey motor parts almost instantly, B) keep spinning at full blast until they almost catch fire. I had to do pre-screens for dog hair every time we ran either model, because otherwise there was a good chance the house would smell like burnt plastic mixed with burnt hair after a run. The rollers had to be fully removed and cleaned after *every run*, sometimes even mid-run. The Roborock rollers have some blade-like bits attached to the ends that seem to slice hair, or maybe it's just the way they're designed in general with multiple housings on the ends. They also shut down if there's too much in there. I still have to clean them out every couple cleans, but they're not nearly so packed with hair and the robot will stop instead of burning the house down if I forget. I also didn't care too much about mopping, but the roborock is so good at it that I do it every night anyway and it keeps the muddy dogprints off the floor. The self-cleaning mop thing is great. The j9+ Combo was *miserable* at that too. My only complaint would be that if the fur tumbleweed is too large, the Roborock avoids it like an obstacle? But if you see it on the map, even mid-run, you can just create a quick custom clean job for that location and force it to mow that sucker down.

Thanks for your thoughts here. I went with the S8 MaxV given I also get the Flexi Lite (and I have a Dyson at home). I figured if the S8 can take care of things 90% of the time, it’ll be worth it. I don’t want to deal with frequently cleaning out the Eufy S1, even though the concept looks interesting.

The only thing I'm not happy with is that I now want to buy a second one so I don't need to carry it up and down the stairs lol.

as a S8 MaxV Ultra user, i would be extremely concerned about the cleanliness of my house if the S8 is not able to mop something found on the floor...

But is it so bad? I mean my floors are pretty spotless, after just one round with s8 maxv ultra. So it’s not that big of a difference. I think for an everyday user it’s very very good. One thing I don’t like is its object avoidance. It’s mediocre at best. No sugar coating this

Really depends. Pricing for the S8 MaxV Ultra is really good at the moment. I paid 1399€ in April and it’s closer to 1000€ now. I reckon pricing in Norway will be somewhat similar? If you wait you’ll have to expect to pay full MSRP for the S9 when it launches in January. If you can hold out I‘d probably wait but if you want / need it now just buy it now. As I said, it’s a great little robot. Even more so for the current price.

Something more to consider: the Eufy S1 Pro has a plumbing kit add-on. It also has detergent dispensing. Both the S8 MaxV and X40 have detergent dispensing as well. The Saros 10, Saros 10R, and X50 are all supposed to get plumbing versions of some kind, but they don't appear to be available yet.

Of these, the worst mopping will be the Q5 and Q8 robots, which just have stationary pads attached to the back. The S8 also has a pad attached to the back, but includes a scrubbing motion via a plate that vibrates at a high speed. It's better than the Q5 and Q8. The best mopping will be on the Qrevo and Eufy X10. They have spinning mop pads, a dock which refills the water tank on the robot from its own water tank, and also cleans the pads automatically and stores the dirty water in another tank on the dock. Of the last two, each has its strengths and weaknesses. The X10 will be better at obstacle avoidance. The Qrevo is a Roborock, which has a better reputation for quality and reliability than the Eufy, and is also rated a little better than the Eufy at a lot of things: vacuuming performance, mopping performance, etc. It also can swing out one of its mop pads for better edge and corner cleaning, something the Eufy can't do. In some cases, obstacle avoidance is really critical, in which case I'd recommend the Eufy. Otherwise, the Qrevo is likely your best bet.

Can't seem to empty itself ever, the dust simply stays trapped in the onboard container. Leaves dust cigars around the place. Doesn't heat to the temperature advertised when mop cleaning. Navigation doesn't seem as good as my old S5 Max. Disappointed in it and trying to return it at present.

I have had a S8 MaxV Ultra for a year. I love it. I’ve had MANY other robots come through my house and none have compared to it. Not even the new Saros 10r. I had 2 of those and they were both awful. I would not recommend it at all. If you didn’t get the S8 the only other one I would say would be the Saros 10 (not the R though). I like the mopping on them far better than the spinning mops. I think the sonic mopping just cleans better. And I have 5 dogs, a cat and live in a dusty, desert area so I put them through the test.

Both the latter robots are better than the S7, i would personally go for the S8 MaxV which was last year's flagship! I have it myself wnd im really happy with it

The Saros 10 looks really nice, but im not entirely sure if i see €300 euros worth of upgrades in it contra the S8 MaxV Ultra. Like, if someone offered me to upgrade to the Saros 10 from our current bot for €300 im not entirely sure i would to be frank. If you have a lot of thresholds in your home then i would go for the Saros 10. It does have a few nifty features that i would like but not enough for me to pay €300.

I have the S8 MaxV Ultra with the Vibrarise 3.0 and i must say im very happy with it. As others have pointed out, the robo vacs are not a replacement for mopping per se, they will do a great job at ensuring your floors wont get too dirty but nothing will beat a hot water proper mopping of the floors.

I had the s7 Maxv and now its on my second floor. I bought new s8 maxv ultra and does alot worse at obstacle avoidance than the s7 maxv. It literally went backwards in that aspect. I agree with the original poster. Why are we paying more for less. The s7 maxv also did way better on carpets. Only thing I love improved is the seld emty and refill dock which has been great.

We have the S7 MaxV Ultra and a brand new S8Max ultra. We decided that the added capabilities of the V version didn’t outweigh the price. The camera is a neat function but we didn’t use it and the avoidance honestly isn’t great. The regular sensor avoidance on the S8 seems on par so far or better(only been a day or so)

Both are great but I lean toward the Curv. A bit better suited to the hard floor. The S8 maxV Ultra has a slight edge in obstacle avoidance but both are capable. Nearly all other specs are better on the curv.

Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure I remember them demoting the S8 MaxV Ultra quite badly after their updated mopping test. And in my experience it was very mediocre. I also mentioned the water tanks and maintenance because OP said he was a newbie, so it's not unreasonable to assume that he's not familiar with the required maintenance of these devices. That's not something the manufacturer will readily mention, and most reviews will barely gloss over maintenance or skip it altogether.

It’s not about layout. It’s about wanting to clean the kitchen quickly and waiting ages because your Roomba is lost. Or starting a full clean and Roomba now thinks it’s a new house. Or just leaving debris in the corners. I was so furious with how Roomba made itself obsolete by its broken navigation (because it was easier to whip out my Dyson V8 than to wait for it, or help it when it got stuck going to the kitchen… there were no obstacles ) I upgraded to Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. I have S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids cords and power strips, but I’ve heard it has sometimes some trouble on the carpets. And it even mistook my dog’s toy for a cord. I don’t trust it 100%, but it doesn’t pull the plugged chargers when I need them, so I’m satisfied with what I have

Dude, people usually try this hard to find negatives when they are really close to buying something. If you can’t find them yourself, just go for it. Roborock releases new models all the time, you will need to wait infinite time to get ultimately the best model, but if you buy it now, you will have a model that you wanted to buy anyway. And regarding issues, my only problem was that it tried to eat one very thin black cord, but since it was always near the wall, I added a no go zone. Mopping is very good, sometimes it leaves some dried food (really small things), but those need scrubbing to go away and my tiles are uneven, so I just live with it. Other than that, it’s a great vacuum.

If you want it to avoid clutter, it needs to have a camera. I have Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids clutter very well. I leave a lot of boxes, bags, plants, thing I need to put away that I temporarily place not far away from its base and it does a lot better job at avoiding it than Roomba J7 I had. When Roombas generally spot an obstacle, they tend to do a big circle around the obstacle and they can get lost because of it.

We got a Roborock and it’s pretty awesome. It vacuums and mops. We have hard wood with area rugs throughout our house. I still need to vacuum but not every day like I had been prior to getting it. I’ve mopped once since I got it, about three months ago.

The S8 MaxV which was the top of the line when we got it. They came out with a newer model like a week or so later 🤦🏻‍♀️. I would have definitely gotten the newer model if it was available. I definitely have to run it daily, sometimes twice. If I skip a day, it isn’t able to really catch up and I will need to vacuum. However I do have a toddler and a front entrance that is in the middle of our living space (so we have to walk through it multiple times a day, trekking dirt around the house). I imagine if you have different conditions, it wouldn’t be as big of an issue skipping a day. The only thing I wish we got was the one that is plumbed in rather than having to refill it. But it’s not that big of a deal to refill.

8 years ago I bought a Xiaomi for daily maintenance (we have a dog) and I still use it, it works great for us. We recently bought a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it is used for maintenance and deeper cleaning. We are delighted with him. Money well spent.

Interesting to me because I also have an i7+ and an M6 mop. I’ve had these since 2019, but have a cleaning person come over once a week. The robots usually just keep it tidy in between since I have pets. I ordered the s8 maxv ultra yesterday so it should be here Monday or Tuesday. I honestly didn’t do very much research. I basically just said give me the best Roborock you’ve got and hit order. Hoping that it’s not a mistake and I can actually see a real benefit to switching. The main things I liked were the heated mopping, the longer battery life so it could actually clean the entire apartment without having to charge half way through, the little arm that supposedly gets corners, and the LiDAR system to (hopefully) not eat cables and avoid some furniture. The m6 was also a pain because I would have to wet the mop, fill the tank, let it do it’s thing, then wash the mop pad, take out the tank, etc. I’m hoping that I can leave the water in the Roborock for more than a day without it clogging the nozzle like I experienced with the m6. I laughed when I read that it can go find my pet. Will try this out and see if it really can next week. I’ve also got hardwood everywhere except for a couple of short pile rugs and a single room that is 90% carpet. Hoping that the mop raises up enough and doesn’t get it wet when traveling. If I can set up an automation to have it vacuum every couple of days without needing to worry if every single thing is picked up off the floor then I’ll be extremely happy. Only downside is that the i7+ and m6 are basically worthless. I may be able to get 300 for both if I’m lucky, but it’ll be a hard sell.

Let it run a couple of times to do the mapping and the AI has detected my pets, multiple cables, cat toys on the ground, and somehow it knows my furniture… which is a bit creepy. It knows beds, couches, tv stands, cat littler boxes, dining room sets, etc. I mopped last week so the floors weren’t particularly dirty, but the dirty water I poured out after a normal clean was pretty dark. I’d say it was doing its job. The fact that it vacuums and mops in one go is also quite nice as the separate iRobots would go after one another. I tried to get my hands on the model with the water hookup, but it’s unavailable. If it gets back in stock I’ll grab it and give it a go. Without the hookup it’s about 1/2-3/4 a tank of water it uses to mop in one go for my place. The little arm for the corners is also really nice. Watching that thing get into the 90 degree dirt ist pretty satisfying. I’m not sure what the power consumption is yet for when it dries the mop for 3 hours, but I’ll add a smart plug and check the stats. Seems like that could add up quick if it dries the mop for 3 hours every day. Overall I’m pretty damn impressed so far.

My S8 MaxV Ultra avoids most white cables. It hits every black cable though.

I say no. I returned mine and bought a like new Q Revo on Amazon for $600 and saved $1,200. Sure, the S8 MaxV has a camera, much better obstacle avoidance, and a flex arm (which didn’t work), but to me that just wasn’t worth $1,800. I don’t mind moving a few cat toys and checking for cat puke to save $1,200. The core mechanics are very similar between the two as far as my average consumer brain can tell. I don’t think my hardwood floors care what they get mopped by. I feel like the upper tier of robot vacuums are good but we’re getting into “stupid money” territory these last few years.

Over hyped but does most floors clean and mop... I use it but also do some manyal cleaning... I see it this way.. $180 cleaners every w weeks can be cut down to 1 time a month... That will be 180x 10 months of saving towards this

I have two dogs, two cats, and four humans living in this house. My first roborock was the original qrevo. The second is the s8 maxv ultra. The qrevo was way easier to clean because of the single tray. The s8 seems to clean a bit better but I don’t think it’s worth the extra money over the qrevo. I still have to scrub the floor along the trim every 3+ months. Mopping about 450 sqft a day with the s8 (since it only runs on the first floor), I refill the water tank every day though I could probably go every other day. I appreciate the auto detergent dispensing way more than I expected though you could just skip adding detergent. The qrevo water tanks are also way easier to clean. That said, I throw the water tanks of both units right into the dishwasher and run the dishwasher cleaning cycle afterward.

Hey community, I would like to start my first post here in appreciation to the amazing products Roborock launches every year (maybe too often). For those who are on the brink of purchasing such robot (as i was a few weeks ago), i think this post will give them 1 extra reason to choose 1 robot version vs another, I had both robots for testing (Qrevo Curv & s8 maxv ultra), and i ended up sending the qrevo back. Even though logic would say that spinning mops are better, the vibrating one on the maxv ultra did a similar job, if not better in the corners. What made me actually stick with the s8 maxv ultra is the much better obstacle avoidance and , drum rolls ... Silent cleaning. I've discovered that i don't need to run my roborock at full speed as silent will do as great of a job. Not 100% sure why but i think it could be thanks to the dual rollers which provides basically 220% extra brooming (counting also the gap between the split roller from the qrevo). To obtain similar results, i had to use qrevo at higher revs which would also produce a higher pitched noise. If you often clean during the night & you live in a multi-level building together with a bunch of other neighbors, I think the S8 MAXV ultra is more suited for you as it can silently & efficiently clean your house while not bumping into your wires or eating your shoes leases (at least in my case). PS: they were both at the same price in RO ( 1100 EUR). Hopefully i am not sharing fake biased info, but this was my experience & that's why i stick with S8 MAXV ultra.

I used it for a few weeks and it was really great! I returned it and bought the QRevo Master and the performance is very similar. The mop doesn’t lift as high which could be an issue depending on rugs/carpets in your home. The object avoidance has been roughly the same as well, no issues aside from one cord and even the s8 maxv had an issue with it as well. Vacuuming/mopping is excellent on both models with no noticeable difference. Both were able to complete my torture tests with 100% efficiency 😂

So far yes the only issues I’ve experienced are surrounding carpet recognition. Obstacle avoidance and cleaning performance do not seem to be affected at all. I also have a Roborock S8 MaxV ultra and the X40 has not gotten stuck in the places that my Roborock did. I would say you’re safe to update since you do not have carpets or rugs.

S8 can be had with the plumbed water dock so you never have to add or empty water which I think is the only way to do a mop bot. If the saros had that i'd go saros.

I still think roborock has the best obstacle avoidance. I m with the roborock S8 MaxV ultra and SwitchBot s10. S8 performs much better obstacle avoidance, but still it chews wires like 1 out of 30 days. However, I don't know why somehow it can still dock like everytime, sometimes even with the wire. SwitchBot s10 is good for the auto refill and drain and it chews wires more than my roborock, like 2-3 out of 30 days, but I have to save it as it will pause cleaning amd cannot dock.

Mine works fine, I just had to set the less collision mode to none.

I absolutely love mine, the main reason I went for it over the qrevo or another cheaper one is the auto refill station, I don’t know if it is worth the cost difference if you get the regular tank version. If you can manage the auto refill that is definitely the way to go.

How long is long? My RoboRock S8 MaxV Ultra works wonders with our ragdoll cat. If price is an issue, the RoboRock S8 Pro (I think it was that one) is pretty much identical but without camera and thus somewhat worse object avoidance. (Doesn’t avoid pet waste also, the MaxV models do)

YES! It’s not cheap thin plastic like the Q. The dock has thick textured plastic. The robot has brushes silver on top with an illuminated logo. It’s just a fancier version and much nicer looking.

S8 MaxV Ultra has the best of any Roborock vacuum out there. I have owned several Roombas and their obstacle avoidance is superior. This comes second best.

I only have 2 cats and 2 clean adults so my challenge is less but this unit is amazing!!! The”V” is worth the extra money. I especially love the sonic mopping with a very high lift and smaller spinning mop that reaches into corners and along my baseboards. The larger spinning pads could not get into the corners because of a larger radius. The Dirt Detection is great! I’ve seen it go back and hit an area twice to make sure it got it all cleaned up. My other mop never did that. I don’t have to check my floors. I know they are pristine. I hope it last for years because the newer robots don’t seem to be improving much.

The build quality is quite different. The S series is a step up. You can feel the difference in the thickness of the plastic, the texture surface and trim level. As far as cleaning goes they both perform well so it’s just your preference. I think the Xanadu egg shape is ugly and outdated. I prefer sonic mopping with great dirt detection.

Add a Clean Zone feature! The rest is amazing. Oh yeah, I must have ghost cats because it’s never took a picture of one of them.

My ion cartridge keeps the fresh water fresh. Mine doesn’t smell after a week. If you only mop once a week, fill it right before.

I came from the J7 and 3 decades of Roomba. Roborock are superior on every level except obstacle avoidance. Not sure about longevity since my S8 MaxV is only 5 months old.

Get the S8 MaxV not the Max. Obstacle avoidance is stellar so far. It detected a turd yesterday and went around it. Thank God!

Roombas are the best at avoiding or at least not eating cords. Love roborock for the rest. My S8 MaxV has avoided all objects in my house including pet waste once which I am super grateful for! I think it’s a different kind of camera system.

I have a s8 MaxV ultra, and I wanted to upgrade this year, but I don’t find the current line up that interesting tbh… I would like the saros 10r but it does not come in white and you can’t get it with the fresh water installation station… what a bummer. The saros 10 ist a better s8 max V, is it worth the extra 250bucks probably, but it’s not worth to upgrade for me. And the z70 is a joke :( the smaller dustbin with a worse main brush. So sad, I looked forward to it

4K hours on my Roborock s8 maxV ultra, not one problem so far, I do biweekly maintenance. 1 golden retriever, and runs 2 a day! I love Roborock, still not impressed with the current saros lineup, if they not do a little more I will try a dreame product like the up coming aqua 10 pro

I mop like 4-5 times a week, rest is only vacuum. Works really well! :) Yes that’s a lot of hours and a lot of m2 he did clean! But it goes fast because twice a day 170m2, takes him a bit under 2hours each run!

From my personal experience it is Roborock models. I’ve had 2x Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, 2x Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and now Roborock Saros 10R and I couldn’t be happier. When I had first gotten the S7 MaxV Ultra’s k had questions about original accessories and I had emailed them and they replied so quickly with the Information I needed. I tried Ecovacs X9 Omni Pro and I think my robot was faulty. I tried contacting support directly when I received it, I have yet to receive an answer (Europe/Netherlands). I have returned it back to Amazon instead.

Well probably the obstacle avoidance, the only problem with it is the light. If its a little dark it doesnt turn on and in my case it misses out on black cables under my sofa and gets tangled in it. The other one is the flexi arm brush that never want to work even if i turned on the settings in the app. I can say that in this price range Roborock should do something because this is just software.

Yeah on the s8 maxv ultra i dont have that option, just automatic and off. At least they should give you a sensitivity option or something. Or Im on iphone i dont know if the app is different on android

im honestly not having great luck with the intelligence. it is SLIGHTLY better than my s7+ to be honest -- in terms of obstacle avoidance and pathing. the overall cleaning performance, especially mopping, and thick carpet, is great. but, this little bitch gets wrapped up in all sorts of cords, clothing, runs into (over) furniture feet.... like, are the cameras on bro?

I have the Roborock S8max and it does all of that except 2 inch climbing. Very few can do that without a robot ramp. However you can pick mine up and set her loose on another floor so if you’re willing to pick her up to go into that room you’d be good. Mine does a self empty and does a great job with corners and baseboards and cleans up even pretty fine dust (I have three dogs who bring a lot of dirt in) and hair. Mine was $420 or so, it said it was a sale but I suspect it’s on sale almost constantly.

A lot of the times it’s a simple cleaning. I have s8 pro ultra and honestly a quick little clean keeps it good for 1-2 months. Not sure if this applies to you but a splash of vinegar in the clean/dirty water tanks go a long way

In my experience, when you by parts from Aliexpress that are labeled "original", they are indeed original parts. Have ordered them several times for my S8 Pro Ultra and Qrevo Slim.

I didn’t get the S8Max V Ultra because of one simple reason: my floors are rustic open pore uneven tiles (pretty to look at but not easy for the mopping system, which led me since the beginning to lean toward the rotating mops. I bought the S8 Pro Ultra right when it came out, and still use it in other more forgivable areas. I tried the Q Revo Max V, The Q Revo Pro… I personally found them both lacking in the vacuum area… they both have a mopping flexi arm but not vacuuming flexi arm! Which for me was extra important. I have 3 dogs, 4 cats and work from home, very heavy traffic all the time. I find having both flexi arms a life saver. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect, but very close in my opinion!

I have not used an X40, but I am familiar with Roborock S8 Ultra, the first device worked very well fro about a month, after which it started failing to connect to the wifi, support tried to help but finally it was returned and replaced, the replacement worked for a day did a great then as before failed to connect to the wifi. This time I will return and demand a refund.

I have the s8 pro ultra. It's overkill, but awesome. My dad has the S8+. Both do a really good job.

We just got an S8 Ultra and it's great. The mop does a decent job but stuck on or big messes need manual intervention. With things that are stuck we have success in just pretreating with cleaner and letting it sit and then telling the robot to mop the area.

While robot vacuums do not replace hand vacuuming or mopping from a "deep clean" perspective, the Roborock S8 Ultra has turned those into an 'every other month' activity for my pet-owning household. YMMV depending on what it would need to tackle for your home, but the in-depth customisation and time saved has made it the best appliance I've spent money on in the last few years. YouTube channels 'The Hook Up' and 'Vacuum Wars' do good comparison videos and might help you get an idea of what you can expect.

I have two a Roborock S7 and an S8 ultra something with the dock. For vacuums I have been happy with both. The Roborock integration works well, but as others have said it does rely on their cloud to function. I stumbled on Valutido. The install process is harrowing and I've only done it on the S7, which required almost fully disassembly (only two extra screws). https://valetudo.cloud/ Its awesome. All the same featured but completely controlled locally. I'm working up the courage to try it on the S8.

That's good news, I had a MaxV and it was great besides the obstacle avoidance. I recently purchased the Master so hearing this is exciting. Love your channel and appreciate all the insight!

Ignore what everyone wrote here. No one knows what they are talking about. What you need is a robot with cameras and flash and lidars on the front so it can avoid everything in the path. All the models listed here are wrong. What you need in my opinion is a maxV model from roborock (they are a bit more expensive but for a reason). They have one of the best avoidance system. They get discounted heavily during sales like prine day, black friday etc. MaxV is the name u want. You could get the Q revo pro or Q revo MaxV wich is a bit more than you probably would pay but it mops the floor as well and that means you can go weeks without having to mop yourself. Some dreame vacuums also perform well. Please avoid roomba and other american mainstream models, they are a decade behind (sadly) to chinese brands like roborock and dreame. Another thing: on youtube there is a huge community with all kinds of pets and kids-tests with obstacles with every model on earth so you can see it yourself what will work for you

It depends on how bad your dog hair situation is. My son and daughter in law have gone through 4 of various brands in just over a year. They just gave up entirely. They have 4 full size shedding dogs though. They said it was def the dog hair that kill the vacs and not the kids. On the other hand, my wife and I have a Roborock Ultra and 3 small non shedding dogs. Our robo vac is by far one of our best purchases. Why run it when going for a walk? We run it after we go to bed.

Some is better than nothing at all. Their MaxV models have the strongest object avoidance, and benefit the most from updates as well. I recommend watching the latest VacuumWars video on the Q Revo Master, and he actually apologizes because he originally said the Q Revi max v wasn't worth it due to the bad object avoidance. However he learned there was an update, and after that it was a night and day difference. It's no different to any other computer, first couple months or so are always the toughest. After an update or two they are significantly better.

Hey, I actually just did extensive research on both these model, I had bought the S8 and returned it for the L10 ultra heated it mostly has all the same features as the L20 but heat cleans the pads and is a newer model. I thought the S8 did a good job but it has no water tank in the base and I liked that the Dreame adds detergent automatically cleans and dries the pads etc. I got the L10 ultra heated for $750 a week ago.

10/10 Roborock from Xiaomi I’ve had the S5 for a few years now. I’ve been eying off the S7 and now S8, with their significantly upgraded docking system, but I just can’t fault the performance of the one I have and am waiting until it stops working to upgrade.

I just replaced them, because I got them for free buying the vacuum ^^ Now I just wash it with water. I don't notice any performance loss. I just do it to take care of it.

I have 4 cats and we use a RoboRock 8 or 9. My bedroom is the only one it's not allowed in because the sound of it gets on my nerves, but it's noticeable when I do my weekly bedroom vacuums compared to the rest of the house. The only place there is still har around the house is when the furniture sits and blocks the robovac. Otherwise it's doing a fantastic job

Trust me you don’t need to drop $1800 on a robot vacuum. Any decent flagship Roborock will do, S8s or one of the higher end Q Revos. Saros is great but again you don’t really need them. Would avoid the other ones.

I've got my roborock S8 integrated. If it has an error or (rarely) gets stuck, HA detects it and annunciates over the google nest speaker that "Rockette has an error". Otherwise it might sit at the far end of the house while I'm in the basement and never hear the robot itself complaining.

If all you care about is the vacuuming performance, the dyson robot vacuum is the best performer (especially against fine dust and deep carpets), If you want other commodities/features, then the roborock S7 is good. The s8 and newer units have more features but decreased vacuuming performance. I wouldn't get a roomba unless you value support/warranty the most, irobot vacuums aren't the best anymore but they do support their machines for a long time and support is better than what you will get with roborock/dreame/dyson. Regardless of what you choose, modern robot vacuums will do a good job.

No it's not bad advice, vacuumwars tests are often not representative of real world scenarios and fail to mention some of the degradation modern releases have had over older robot vacuums. To be fair, on his review of the S8, he did mention the reduction in performance over the S7, however, he didn't showcase how bad it is compared to the old S7 (particularly against deep carpets and tiled floors). You can find similar reviews on asian blog posts (chinese & japanese in particular), where roborock gets way more critiques for overhyping their products and reducing the quality of new releases while having zero after-sales support.

Looks Like an S8 , Amazon had them on sale last week for $350 (white only) I picked one up too. Seems like this is the last standalone model they offer. All the new series are only offered with a dock that will do self emptying and other fancy stuff.

I have had excellent results with Roborock S8s and Saros 10R with Home Assistant. All of my Roborock app routines were fully integrated into Home Assistant as entities. Now I can run every aspect right from Home Assistant, and by extension, through Alexa using voice routines. This is fantastic! I have used other robovacs with home assistant, but I have never had them integrate so well! Since Roborock robovacs are the only thing I am qualified to talk about, I will make some suggestions. I, personally, would avoid automatically detangling roller brushes. They do detangle very well. But they do not clean as well, especially with lots of pet hair and on rugs and carpets. The dual roller systems take a few minutes to maintain, but they clean much, much better than the single split roller systems that auto detangle. Personally, I would seriously consider something along the lines of a Roborock Qrevo Master. It is a great compromise between dock automation and good vacuuming ability. It has the dual rollers systems for excellent vacuuming, a mostly automated dock, but it does make some compromises. It is a bit more than you want to spend. But it is an excellent system that offers a lot at a much lower price than other models.

Another vote for Roborock S7/S8. I can't believe how great it is thus far. Just dump the dirty water tank / fill the clean water tank & that's it! (& change vacuum bag periodically - wish they went bagless here)

Depends on your flooring and needs If carpets - Roborock - best vacuuming particularly if you pair it with an auto empty dock (most newer models) If hardwood and no pets (Read not an inordinate amount of vacuuming) - Eufy S1 Pro - Best mopping hands down along with pretty good vacuuming

Roborock has a good implementation into HA which I've used the past year. Maybe the Q Revo will be something for you? Or a top model like the Sxx versions. I just switched to the eufy x10 pro omni and I'm bummed that there are no working solutions for HA for this model yet :(. I have to use another app like a noob.
