1. Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and 3i S10 Ultra. 2. Switchbot K10+ Pro/Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra 3. Dreame X50/Saros 10 4. Most of these robots are produced in Asia. As such, support is rough for most of the companies. They go on holiday and the support department shuts down entirely. Their support is on overnight for us in the US. If support was the biggest issue, I'd look at US based brands.

I'm surprised how much I actually enjoy these threads. So I'm going to kill two of yours and reintroduce one. I don't think those are the right q revos to look at... If anything I'd say the max V. But I can make it easy because if you can afford the robots that you're talking about I think it comes down to four models. The s8 maxv ultra which shakes out to be the best of the S8 line. The curv, which is also excellent, but slightly different from the s8. Saros 10 Saros 10r Do you have thresholds? If so, get the 10. Do you have a lot of obstacles on your floor? Like a fan and lamps and furniture and other crap small spaces that the robot needs to go into? If so, get a 10r, even if you have thresholds. You don't have thresholds or small spaces, I would consider the S8 or curv, because they're excellent, and dramatically cheaper. And excepting the issue with thresholds, I'm not highly sold that the Saros are $700 better. And the best part is, there is no wrong answer. The main differentiator is the shape of the tower and that the curv has twin spinning mops and the s8 has a vibrating mop pad. Because you have ceramic tile, and I do too, that means you have grime. For that reason I recommend the s8. I believe the vibrating pad does better on grind

Hi. I review robots for a living. That store link was super helpful. My advice is simple: get a roborock. I think the S8 Maxv Ultra is a fantastic model, around $1000. The Saros 10/10R are also there, and also great. Personally, i prefer a mop pad, so I'd say the 10, not the 10R. The prices are close enough that I'd say the Saros might be worth these few $$. I don't enjoy either model you named...the Mova has cheap hardware, and the X9 was incredibly Meh in performance.

Sure. Let me talk about it a little. I think the S8MVU stays that high priced because it continues to have such favor. It was most reviewers top pick (I don't have another explanation, this is a guess). And honestly, it shares most of the functionality in the Saros. Don't worry about the Pa (suction)... its not as important, by far, [https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum](https://lifehacker.com/home/how-to-choose-best-robot-vacuum) The Saros is a jump ahead, but usually, I feel its not enough of a jump ahead to justify the 700$ difference between the S8MVU and the Saros. I think it's 300$+/- worth. So, if its within that range, go with a Saros. Now, WHICH Saros. the 10 is like the S8, and the 10R like the Qrevo. I prefer the 10 for mopping, and the 10R on navigation. It's a split. Either would likely make you happy. Bottom line: I know its a huge decision, but if you make yourself crazy overthinking it, it's not worth it. Any of these three will be great robots.

Ugh. Roombas. In either floor, I think the answer is an s8 MaxV Ultra or a Saros 10R. Roborock towers, i'm pretty sure, have hepa filters on the tower, and you can replace the fine dust filter on the robot itself as often as you think necessary (it should be cleaned much more often than most people do). Althought the S8 is fantastic, i think the saros might be better in the bedrooms because it uses cameras in addition to the LiDAR, and navigating under beds might be better. In either case, I think you'll be quite happy. Here's the s8: [https://amzn.to/45VQExU](https://amzn.to/45VQExU) and the 10R [https://amzn.to/44xZsHS](https://amzn.to/44xZsHS)

great news! Almost ANY roborock you get (for that matter, any robot) is going to far surpass your i7 experience. I would not grab the Q5, TBH. There is, actually a very big difference between $500 and $1000 robots, but if I may recommend... I'd say the best CURRENT value on a Roborock is the Curv/Edge, the S8 MaxV Ultra and the QRevo MaxV. While the Saros are great... I don't think they're better \*enough\* than the models listed about to justify the price. Also, I'd wait for Prime Day, regardless. Also, I test robots for a living for Lifehacker, and am not sponsored by anyone, and test robots in my very real house.

Within 4 months of getting this vacuum I have had these issues and was wondering if they are systemic: Key Faults: 1. Filter System Failure: Does not empty automatically, requiring manual intervention after every use. This is intermittent but recently has been for days at a time. 2. Cleaning/Drying Failure: Frequently fails to wash or dry the mopping pads, leaving floors dirty/wet. 3. Navigation Defect: Regularly gets stuck against walls/objects with no actual blockage, halting operation. My last roborok I had for 4 years before it conked out. This one is a dud less than 12 months in. I am trying to get my money back (currently arguing with JBHIFI the device has exhibited multiple faults that constitute a major failure under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).) but I am worried if we get another one we will also only get 12 months out of it. Meanwhile my Miele vacuum has been going for 13 years with no issues. Not one. And we are on our 4th robovacuum.

The X40 and L40 are essentially the same. I think the lower rating for the X40’s navigation is due to older firmware and the L40’s firmware is more polished. Just choose whichever model is cheaper. My TriCut brush works as advertised, no hair or fur tangles around it. The S8MaxV’s rollers are more prone to getting fur stuck on the sides and their navigation and obstacle avoidance isn’t as good as Dreame’s.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra should do best with fur and vacuuming rugs. You'd have to remove tangled hair around brush bearings every once in a while. If your dogs leave *messes* that a robot cannot clean, I'd go for the Freo Z Ultra to avoid any accidents.

The S8 MaxV ultra is last gen technology with its vibrating mop. I would choose the Dreame over the S8 max v as it has much better features, the app is just as good but the obstacle avoidance is leagues better. Is the Mova p10 pro ultra not available in your region? It's as good as the Dreame X40 while being significantly cheaper.

Fair enough. In that case it looks like Dreame made a huge improvement with object avoidance with the introduction of their "X" series like the X30 and X40. Considering the QRevo slim is Roborock's best object avoidance offering, the S8 does do worse than it and by extension the S7 is last gen tech. Looking at all the comparisons, most rank the Slim above the S8 and the S7 and then the X40 is well beyond the Slim. It's a shame because roborock would be the best choice if their object avoidance actually was reliable and consistent.

Dreame excels at object avoidance. The only decent roborocks are the S8 MaxV and the Slim but they are significantly worse than Dreame and Eufy at object avoidance. My QRevo slim fails to see cords and basic obstacles on carpet and hard floors while my Dreame X40 has zero issues seeing every obstacle and rarely gets stuck or caught on things.

r/RobotVacuums • Do any robot vacuums actually avoid/not get stuck by clutter? ->
Reddit Icon
Gyat_Rizzler69 • 7 months ago

Neither. 1) roborock has horrible obstacle avoidance, especially on carpet so they will eat cords, towels and socks so it's hard to run any of their vacuums on a schedule 2) the roborock s8 maxV ultra is a 2 year old design as this point and their sonic mopping system is outdated. It seems like they didn't want to cannibalize their QRevo line up and stacked on a silly side mop onto it. 3) the QRevo edge is good but if you are set on roborock, check out the QRevo slim as it has the best object avoidance out of all Roborocks but that isn't really a high bar to overcome as their robots have object avoidance that is comparable to a $400 robot. Personally since you have so much carpet, I would recommend the Dreame X40, L40 and the Mova P10 pro ultra (sub brand of Dreame). All have excellent hardfloor and carpet performance while also having class leading object avoidance. I currently have qrevo slim that I'm testing and a Dreame x40 ultra. The x40 just a far better cleaning system due to the object avoidance since I can run it daily.

Roborock 8 maxv Ultra is very good. I use L40 Ultra from dreame. I'm happy but I have few issues. It can't detect glass and porcelain water bowls I put around for my cats. Runs into them. So you need to set no go zones. Cant detect water spills... That's dangerous. If it sucks water it's engine and mobo can die... Other than that I'm super happy. I use a real animal post patchwork carpet. And I was using carpet boost and intense carpet cleaning on. I noticed my leather post carpet has lots so many fur. It's that strong... Lol. I also have hepa filters in the house. Because it's cleaned everyday we don't have any dust in the house. Especially underneath the sofas. They clean better than humans. I paid 800 euroish for L40 Ultra. I bought supplies from aliexpress. It's 40 dollars for a year or twos supply with extra dust bags, hepa filters and rollers etc

If you value mopping, I'd recommend a robot that doesn't have a stationary pad. From your list, that would be the two Roborocks and the Xiaomi. The Q10 S5 is new, and there isn't a lot out there in terms of reviews yet, but Roborock as a brand is fairly trustworthy. The S8 is well-known, and a more feature-rich version was the Roborock flagship for some time, so this is a safer bet. I don't know much about the Xiaomi, but it has its fans.

Something more to consider: the Eufy S1 Pro has a plumbing kit add-on. It also has detergent dispensing. Both the S8 MaxV and X40 have detergent dispensing as well. The Saros 10, Saros 10R, and X50 are all supposed to get plumbing versions of some kind, but they don't appear to be available yet.

Basically, if you want the best vacuum and obstacle avoidance, you will want one of the top bots! Currently the top dogs are the Saros 10 / Saros 10R and last years models the S8 MaxV Ultra and the Qrevo Egde / Curve. We mop A L O T and like, besides emptying the dirty water tank daily / every second day and refilling daily / every second day, i only have to do "deep maintenance" which involves washing the water filter (its hard plastic so no drying time) and washing underneat it and the smaller mop with a damp cloth, and thats for someone who does the deep+ program once a week. If you just do regular vac & mop, depending on how big of a house you have, and the program you use, you wont need to refill the water tank more than like every 3 days realistically, and it only takes like 30 seconds to do so! Feel free to DM me if you have more questions or just ask them here :)

If you have ruled out the Saros 10 then you basically have ruled out the S8 MaxV as well, it does not have the rotating mops that the Saros 10R has. I would stay well clear of the Z70, its gimmicky, and the Saros 10R is better anyhow. For the prices quoted i would go for the S8 MaxV though. I own one, and while the 10 / 10R has some really nifty features, it\`s nothing i would pay €600 extra for..

The S8 MaxV which was the top of the line when we got it. They came out with a newer model like a week or so later 🤦🏻‍♀️. I would have definitely gotten the newer model if it was available. I definitely have to run it daily, sometimes twice. If I skip a day, it isn’t able to really catch up and I will need to vacuum. However I do have a toddler and a front entrance that is in the middle of our living space (so we have to walk through it multiple times a day, trekking dirt around the house). I imagine if you have different conditions, it wouldn’t be as big of an issue skipping a day. The only thing I wish we got was the one that is plumbed in rather than having to refill it. But it’s not that big of a deal to refill.

There are other robot vacuums that outperform the S8 series, like the Dyson 360 Nav. Nothing compares to it. However, I'm with you on the Saros line. The Z70 (which is based off the Saros 10R) doesn't get close to my Robo S8 MaxV Ultra on carpet. There seems to be some sacrifices made in order to achieve the thinner body style (and in my case, accommodate the arm).

You really can’t go wrong if you are willing to spend $1000+ and pick a flagship model. My personal experience is Narwal Freo Z Ultra has the best AI avoidance for things like cords or strings. The brush is also tangle free, allegedly. So that would be great for your cats. Get it at Costco so you can return it if it breaks two years from now or you just don’t like it. Currently on sale too for about $400 off. My second choice would Eufy S1 Pro if mopping is the most important to you. Wait for it to go sale at Amazon for $999. Its AI avoidance is very good, but carpet performance suffers. I’d recommend Roborock but I haven’t owned one yet that doesn’t run right over cords. I have the S8 Max V Ultra. No experience with Dreame or Ecovacs/Yedi. Stay away from iRobot.

As someone who has owned both a 10R and Z70, I died laughing at the 10R winning the OA category. What a joke. It has worse OA in normal household lighting than my S8. Maybe they should stop testing everything under ridiculously bright studio lights on the perfect light colored floor. I'm starting to think these manufacturers watch all these videos and adjust their products accordingly.

After having three, I got really used to the idea of what they're supposed to do, but became very frustrated at the limitations of what the ones that I had were doing. And since I'd already sent three back, I was already in the mindset of well. If this one doesn't work I'll send it back too. But when I got it and tried it I was like wow this is what I've been wanting it to do. I still hate spending the money because it's not cheap and I don't make the kind of money that people who own these types of expenditures have, but I like how this performs so I'm going to keep it.

I absolutely love mine, the main reason I went for it over the qrevo or another cheaper one is the auto refill station, I don’t know if it is worth the cost difference if you get the regular tank version. If you can manage the auto refill that is definitely the way to go.

I was wondering the same thing, I was considering the Ecovacs X9 Pro Omni, but I decided on the Roborocks S8 MaxV Ultra. Almost every review I seen about the Ecovacs has been sponsored or appeared biased, almost every person I talked to who had a Ecovacs mentioned theirs broke down, had issues finding the dock station etc. Whilst everyone I talked to who had a Roborock absolutely loved it and would absolutely buy another Roborock when it's time to upgrade. I really wanted the rotating mop from the Ecovacs, but my gut told me I sholdn't gamble with Ecovacs, it seemed like a bait product to me. Vacuumwars sure raited it good, but I feel like their video review didn't convince me.

YES! It’s not cheap thin plastic like the Q. The dock has thick textured plastic. The robot has brushes silver on top with an illuminated logo. It’s just a fancier version and much nicer looking.

I only have 2 cats and 2 clean adults so my challenge is less but this unit is amazing!!! The”V” is worth the extra money. I especially love the sonic mopping with a very high lift and smaller spinning mop that reaches into corners and along my baseboards. The larger spinning pads could not get into the corners because of a larger radius. The Dirt Detection is great! I’ve seen it go back and hit an area twice to make sure it got it all cleaned up. My other mop never did that. I don’t have to check my floors. I know they are pristine. I hope it last for years because the newer robots don’t seem to be improving much.

The build quality is quite different. The S series is a step up. You can feel the difference in the thickness of the plastic, the texture surface and trim level. As far as cleaning goes they both perform well so it’s just your preference. I think the Xanadu egg shape is ugly and outdated. I prefer sonic mopping with great dirt detection.

Obstacle avoidance sucks on ALL roborocks coming from the i7 here as well. I must say everything else is spectacular. Plus, the parts last a lot longer without having to change them. How about my dust bag? I need to replace more often, but that only tells me that this robot is picking up debris my Roomba missed. I had an i7 and the M6 mop. Now I own the S8 Max V ultra and it’s a game changer. I can get the house cleaned in half the time.

Roborock struggles to avoid objects on carpet. Put it on hard floors and it will likely avoid it 9 times out of 10 even with the basic models like the Qrevo S with a single light sensor. This is why I always run my ovject avoidance tests on carpet. I find most pets tend to have accidents on rugs or carpet and since it is more difficult for all robots not just Roborock, testing object avoidance on carpet usually means if it succeeds there then it will succeed on hard floors. I'm not sure why other reviewers have not picked up on this yet especially Vacuum Wars. If you want the best object avoidance (from Roborock) on carpet specifically with animal waste the best options are the S8 MaxV and the Qrevo Slim. Through all my years testing it feels like Roborock has not invested in object avoidance as their tech has not really improved much since the S6 MaxV which was groundbreaking when it launched. Companies like Eufy, Narwal and Dreame have invested and are way ahead. It is always best to pickup prior to running a robot, but I do understand that many people prefer to run them on a schedule when not at home.

While I have not tested the S10 I have tested the S1 Pro. Here are my thoughts for comparison. 1. A roller mop on a robot will mop better and clean better that a spinning or vibrating mop. 2. A roller mop will require a good bit more hands on maintenance than a spinning or vibrating mop since it remove dirt and debris from the floors it has to have a filter inside that must be cleaned by hand. For the S1 this was every 2 cleanings of my home. 3. A roller mop does not have edge cleaning abilities. The S1 Pro is much closer than the Switchbot which is pretty dismal with edge cleaning. 4. IMO you are better buying a Qrevo S or Pro and supplementing with a Flexi or Dyad mop which mops better than any robot and has the best edge cleaning ability. I actually tested this theory yesterday. I had spilled dried up coffee stain under the kickplate of my kitchen cabinets. The S8 MaxV with the side mop barley touched it. The Qrevo MaxV did little to nothing with it. The Dreame X30 and X40 did nothing with it. The S1 Pro could not reach it. I broke out the Flexi Pro and it removed it all in 3 passes. People really overthink mopping and edge mopping with a robot. They spend crazy money and go through all types of effort in attempt to have a robot completely replace mopping by hand. Robots at least today don't effectively replace deep mopping. They are designed to keep the floors clean in between deeper mopping once or twice a month thus your floors appear to remain clean daily with less effort than hand mopping daily. If you are going to buy a roller mop and go through the same maintenance you have to perform with a Flexi Pro or Dyad Pro then why not just use a Flexi Pro and a Qrevo. To me that is the best combo and best way to keep your floors completely clean. I have said this for years.

Based on your needs, here are the top recommended robot vacuums that provide excellent features without unnecessary extras. These vacuums are efficient, reliable, and suitable for busy lifestyles: **1.** [**Dreame X40 Ultra**](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CXDXKSXP/ref=nosim?tag=vwads5-20) The Dreame Bot X40 Ultra is a state-of-the-art robotic vacuum and mop designed to provide a thorough and efficient cleaning experience. It features a removable and liftable mop, powerful 12,000Pa suction, and advanced navigation and obstacle avoidance. It also includes auto emptying, auto mop pad washing, and hot water cleaning capabilities, although it is in a premium cost range. # 2. [Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra](https://www.amazon.com/roborock-S8-MaxV-Ultra-Self-Drying-dp-B0CQLPNB2X/dp/B0CQLPNB2X/ref=nosim?tag=vwads5-20) The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra combines cutting-edge technology and user-friendly features, boasting 10,000 Pa suction power, dual-roller design to minimize hair tangles, and advanced VibraRise 3.0 Sonic Mopping System. It includes a smart dock for self-cleaning, water refilling, and detergent dispensing, and it features sophisticated obstacle avoidance. It does have a high price point and the power difference feels artificially imposed. # 3. [Ecovacs Deebot T30S](https://www.amazon.com/ECOVACS-T30S-ZeroTangle-Technology-Self-Emptying/dp/B0D1FLHMD4/ref=nosim?tag=vwads5-20) The Ecovacs Deebot T30S offers impressive 11,000Pa suction power, ZeroTangle technology, and TruEdge Adaptive Edge Mopping. Its all-in-one Omni station provides functionalities like hot-water mop washing, self-emptying, auto water refilling, and hot-air drying. It also features TrueDetect 3D 3.0 obstacle avoidance and TrueMapping 2.0 technology for efficient navigation. The handheld combo may seem extraneous to some. **4.** [**Eufy X10 Pro Omni**](https://www.amazon.com/eufy-Auto-Lift-Detection-Self-Emptying-Self-Refilling/dp/B0CPFBBHP4/ref=nosim?tag=vwads5-20) The Eufy X10 Pro Omni is a high-performance robot vacuum and mop designed for comprehensive home cleaning. It boasts an impressive 8,000 Pa suction power, dual mops with auto-lift and carpet detection, and MopMaster 2.0 technology for efficient stain removal. The all-in-one station handles auto mop washing, drying with heated air, self-emptying, and self-refilling. It uses advanced AI See smart cleaning for obstacle avoidance and iPath Laser Navigation for efficient cleaning routes. The app experience is less polished than others, and the front-mounted brushes are less effective on fine debris. # 5. [Eufy L60](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDB831GV/ref=nosim?tag=vwads5-20) The Eufy Clean L60 Robot Vacuum features 5,000 Pa suction power, iPath Laser Navigation with Precision Mapping, and intelligent suction control through BoostIQ Technology. It supports customized cleaning options, including room selection, No-Go Zones, and Multi-Floor Mapping via a smartphone app. It is designed to overcome obstacles easily and is compatible with smart devices such as Amazon Echo. The battery life may seem inadequate. Also while the brushroll isn’t good at resisting tangles, the base has a detangling feature. You can find out more in-depth information about the individual products and our testing methods [here](https://vacuumwars.com/best-vacuum-cleaners/robot-vacuums/). We will be posting a video about our top robot vacuum picks for Summer 2024 on our [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@VacuumWars) tomorrow. No, I would say that r/homeowners is not for opinions on robot vacuums any more than r/america is for opinions on where to buy organic bananas in Hanover, MD. If we want to say that it's relevant enough, that's totally cool, but it took me 5 seconds to type "vacuum" into the search bar and find this [basically-the-same-exact-post](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeowners/comments/1h13ifu/best_costperformance_vacuum_cleaner/) in this sub from 3 days ago. I'd start there. Beyond that, I'd imagine that /r/RobotVacuums is going to be a more helpful sub for this query. My anecdote that's not as valuable as a professional review is that when we bought ours a couple years ago the combo of the Roomba Brava Jet + j7/9+ was better than most of the mop-and-vac units. Today, there seem to be a number of all-in-ones that do a really good job. This is the worst robot vacuume I've ever owned. It gets stuck on every single thing and finds ANYTHING it can to suck up and get disabled. It hasn't run a full cycle in months because of that. We have hardwood floors and rugs, and this robot seems to "sweep" all of the dirt and cat hair to the edges of all of the rugs for us to have to go and sweep up manually later. Obstacle avoidance is a joke. My last robot was a roomba i7 and it was great. We only upgraded because the mapping was better on this one, it had "better obstacle avoidance" (what a joke) and it could mop without intervention as well as cleaning the mop head on its own. The surface level stuff looks really good (like the maps and mopping stuff), but that stuff is worthless if it can't even do a single vacuume cycle without getting stuck. If I could return this, I would. I hate it. Not to mention the price...... sigh. Maybe I just got a bad one, but this thing is terrible, and I can't understand how all of these reviews look so good all the time. I can't wait to get something different. Let me know if you have any questions.

Unfortunately, robot vacuums are one of those things where the budget versions really aren't going to cut it. You'll only get a decently capable machine if you're willing to shell out quite a bit of money (at least double what you're looking to spend). Right now we have a roborock s8 maxv ultra, and it has been a major improvement because with our pups shedding, the house really does need to be vacuumed daily. The cheaper robot vacuums we tried just didn't do a good job of picking the hair up and couldn't hold up to the daily use. I'd say for the time being, you're better off embracing a good handpush vacuum because you'll be able to get much more suction power for a whole lot cheaper.

I've been looking into it myself, than decided, to get a autofill station for My S7 MaxV Ultra as first and maybe wait for a more improved version of that S8 MaxV Ultra, since, they sadly have rushed it a bit and a few of the features aren't on point as they've said. Also, that trade in programm would probably give Me just 250-350$ back for My, now almost a Year in Heavy use, very dusty envoirment. So, eh, gotta do that and maybe put that S7 later on into the shop or soemthing or into the wharehouse, idk. ... Long story short, get one of those autofill stations, and maybe wait a year, at least that's what I'M planning to do since I have it in use almost daily as well. Also, those autofill stations are around 250-350$ on AliExpress, when they're on Sale, sometimes down to 175$, so get one if You can and wait a bit.

As a cat dad to seven furballs—Haru, Spikey, Smokey, Yami, Furfulica, Schoki, and Kaya—keeping my floors clean used to feel like a full-time job. Fur, litter scatter, the occasional tracked mess—nothing escaped them. But since I got the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, everything has become easier to manage. We got it last year in November and it changed everything for our 120 m² apartment. 🐾 Real-Life Stress Test: Passed This vacuum-mop combo doesn’t just cope with a multi-pet home, it dominates. Whether it’s clumps of fur hidden under the furniture or micro-debris around the litter boxes, the S8 MaxV Ultra handles it with precision. • Pet hair removal: Outstanding. I run it once a day and it still manages to pick up a shocking amount of hair. • Navigation: Despite cat toys, food bowls, and lounging kitties, it rarely gets stuck or confused. • Obstacle avoidance: It avoids tails and paws without panic—or chaos. • Auto-mop lifting: Seamless transition between tiles and rugs without dragging dirt. • Maintenance: The self-emptying and auto-cleaning dock saves me loads of time—an absolute must in a pet-heavy home. 🛠️ Built for the Chaos What impressed me most is how low-maintenance it is, considering the heavy workload. The intelligent mapping and zone cleaning let me target the usual “battle zones” without lifting a finger. It adapts to new obstacles like a champ, and even when Kaya had a messy accident, it avoided the spot until I could clean up safely. TL;DR: If you’re living with multiple cats, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra isn’t just a gadget—it’s a partner in keeping your home fur-free and fresh. This isn’t a review from a lab; it’s from the trenches of real-life pet chaos.

Doing so also avoids mop washing before the job. And the vaccuuming is as quick as it should be. Same for the tiled rooms with vac + mop. I even have a third routine to do vac only on the tiles. I run it about 2-3 times as often as vac+mop.

S7 / S8 Ultra docks have an extra complex mop washer which is not needed in a Qrevo. It tends to get messy in the dock tray and the thing is hard to clean because it's not removable. Furthermore it makes the docks expensive and thus less economical. If you can't stand your appliance being covered with residue, don't buy. The revo tech needs less maintenance.

All MaxV models, plus Qrevo Master which is an exception to the naming conventions. The camera isn't just for better obstacle avoidance. It can be used to transmit live video feed to the mobile app. The newer models can do AI based object identification. Although I highly doubt this will result in better cleaning performance. Agreed on the Eufy. If poop avoidance is a must, the Eufy S1 Pro is probably the recommendation. Dreame could be an alternative. Roborock is not on par with these.

Q8 Max wasn't really made for mopping. Since it cannot lift the passive mop, you have to detach the mop everytime you want vacuuming. Make the no mop zones a little wider, even when risking a small strip remaining not mopped. Serious multi-mode cleaning with active mop and lift for combined hard floor / carpet rooms starts with S8 or Q10 S5.

Coming from Roborock, which in my view has awful customer service, to Dreame, I was really concerned about an even worse experience based on forum feedback from owners. Maybe I'll regret it in the future, but so far my X40 Master has been out of sight, and out of mind. Everything stays clean (two dogs and a dog door, hardwood flooring), and the dock has an unlimited supply of water through our plumbing. The X50 Master doesn't seem to be available in North America yet, but I can't say enough good things about the X40 Master. I bought it and a Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra with the drainage:refill dock, and returned the Roborock after trying both. At CES 2025, Dreame did show off a fancy dock that can store and swap multiple sets of mop pads. That's really the only thing I'd love more at this point (I could go months and months without ever fiddling with the robot).

X2 clean mopping doesn't end with floor direction, and the baseboard mop spins when not by a baseboard. Leaving little swirly marks on the floor sometimes. Both could probably be fixed with an update.

I have two vacs in HomeKit via Matter at present, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, and the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni. Both offer a reasonable enough experience in Apple Home so far, although for both models, in terms of suction you only get minimum or maximum options - Min/Max for S8, Quick or Deep Clean for the Omni. I believe Switchbot’s models offer all four speeds, although the K10+ Pro didn’t have the relevant update at the time I had it (I gave it away). Of the two, I think the Roborock is better for a few reasons, but the Ecovacs does offer some features that may be more useful in some situations.

My house is about 3,500 sq ft with all hardwood floors, except for two bedrooms that have few rugs. There are five people, two cats, and a dog living here, so the house can get dirty rather quickly. The first robot vacuum I owned was the Dreame X30 Ultra. It was a decent enough model but broke down after two months, and I couldn’t get it fixed on multiple attempts. I replaced it with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, but it didn’t measure up to the X30. Its mopping and obstacle avoidance capabilities were subpar compared to Dreame’s, and don't even get me started on the pet hair on the roller, I decided it isn't worth the trouble and returned it within a month then resorted to manually cleaning for about 6 months. Later i found the 3i S10 Ultra and backed it on KS, it had a few hiccups initially, but the company had like 3 firmware updates within 2 weeks and resolved them. Now, it's BY FAR the best robot vacuum I’ve owned, it cleans thoroughly, hasn't gotten stuck once, and even refills its own water tank by dehumidifying and distilling air moisture. It simply gets the job done. It has been two months now, and I can’t imagine not having it, i didn't know 3i company before backing the project and only after i saw some negative comments regarding the company on their previous OEM/ODM products. But i gotta tell you, the company for sure have up their game for this 3i brand, this thing is every bit as solid as the roborock, and better than the dream, it's now $1499 on amazon, honestly i would still get it.

I've had mine for a few months now. Love it. I came from the Neato world when they discontinued operations. I dump the dirty water tank from he dock and refill the clean tank twice a week, since I mop on the same frequency. That way they're ready before it starts that operation. I vacuum daily and the bin empties with no issues. Just be sure to do their recommended maintenance. I clean the sensors weekly (wipe them down) and wash the mops in with the laundry every other week. Couldn't be happier at this point.

If you wait you’ll have to expect to pay full MSRP for the S9 when it launches in January. If you can hold out I‘d probably wait but if you want / need it now just buy it now. I have the Roborock S8max and it does all of that except 2 inch climbing. Very few can do that without a robot ramp. However you can pick mine up and set her loose on another floor so if you’re willing to pick her up to go into that room you’d be good. Mine does a self empty and does a great job with corners and baseboards and cleans up even pretty fine dust (I have three dogs who bring a lot of dirt in) and hair. Mine was $420 or so, it said it was a sale but I suspect it’s on sale almost constantly.

It’s not about layout. It’s about wanting to clean the kitchen quickly and waiting ages because your Roomba is lost. Or starting a full clean and Roomba now thinks it’s a new house. Or just leaving debris in the corners. I was so furious with how Roomba made itself obsolete by its broken navigation (because it was easier to whip out my Dyson V8 than to wait for it, or help it when it got stuck going to the kitchen… there were no obstacles ) I upgraded to Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Never going back to Roomba. Btw, according to vacuum wars, the best carpet vacuum is [Roborock Qrevo Curv](https://vacuumwars.com/roborock-qrevo-curv-review/). And it leaves its mops at the dock when it vacuums the carpets.

Dude, people usually try this hard to find negatives when they are really close to buying something. If you can’t find them yourself, just go for it. Roborock releases new models all the time, you will need to wait infinite time to get ultimately the best model, but if you buy it now, you will have a model that you wanted to buy anyway. And regarding issues, my only problem was that it tried to eat one very thin black cord, but since it was always near the wall, I added a no go zone. Mopping is very good, sometimes it leaves some dried food (really small things), but those need scrubbing to go away and my tiles are uneven, so I just live with it. Other than that, it’s a great vacuum.

If you want it to avoid clutter, it needs to have a camera. I have Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and it avoids clutter very well. I leave a lot of boxes, bags, plants, thing I need to put away that I temporarily place not far away from its base and it does a lot better job at avoiding it than Roomba J7 I had. When Roombas generally spot an obstacle, they tend to do a big circle around the obstacle and they can get lost because of it.

I say no. I returned mine and bought a like new Q Revo on Amazon for $600 and saved $1,200. Sure, the S8 MaxV has a camera, much better obstacle avoidance, and a flex arm (which didn’t work), but to me that just wasn’t worth $1,800. I don’t mind moving a few cat toys and checking for cat puke to save $1,200. The core mechanics are very similar between the two as far as my average consumer brain can tell. I don’t think my hardwood floors care what they get mopped by. I feel like the upper tier of robot vacuums are good but we’re getting into “stupid money” territory these last few years.

I have two dogs, two cats, and four humans living in this house. My first roborock was the original qrevo. The second is the s8 maxv ultra. The qrevo was way easier to clean because of the single tray. The s8 seems to clean a bit better but I don’t think it’s worth the extra money over the qrevo. I still have to scrub the floor along the trim every 3+ months. Mopping about 450 sqft a day with the s8 (since it only runs on the first floor), I refill the water tank every day though I could probably go every other day. I appreciate the auto detergent dispensing way more than I expected though you could just skip adding detergent. The qrevo water tanks are also way easier to clean. That said, I throw the water tanks of both units right into the dishwasher and run the dishwasher cleaning cycle afterward.

Another vote for the Q Revo with full self emptying and self mop washing/drying. The price hurts, but got it for black friday a year ago so it wasn't quite so nuts. And for whatever reason it does all the same stuff as the S8 max or whatever they call it, just with spinny mops instead of vibrating, for much cheaper. Also have the LG self-emptying stick vacuum. At least for our household, we've learned that lowering the barrier to quick cleanup was by far the best way to get us to actually clean. With our old stick and robot vacs, having to empty the dustbin and for basically every use meant it was enough of a hassle that we would just not clean as often. The self-cleaning are certainly not maintenance free, but make it more of a monthly deal. And the roborock app is pretty great, sometimes a little finnicky but better than others I've tried, and HA integration is straightforward enough to get the basics working. I have a dashboard with buttons that just send it to individual rooms which is good enough. Eventually will make some toggles to select multiple rooms at once.

Hey community, I would like to start my first post here in appreciation to the amazing products Roborock launches every year (maybe too often). For those who are on the brink of purchasing such robot (as i was a few weeks ago), i think this post will give them 1 extra reason to choose 1 robot version vs another, I had both robots for testing (Qrevo Curv & s8 maxv ultra), and i ended up sending the qrevo back. Even though logic would say that spinning mops are better, the vibrating one on the maxv ultra did a similar job, if not better in the corners. What made me actually stick with the s8 maxv ultra is the much better obstacle avoidance and , drum rolls ... Silent cleaning. I've discovered that i don't need to run my roborock at full speed as silent will do as great of a job. Not 100% sure why but i think it could be thanks to the dual rollers which provides basically 220% extra brooming (counting also the gap between the split roller from the qrevo). To obtain similar results, i had to use qrevo at higher revs which would also produce a higher pitched noise. If you often clean during the night & you live in a multi-level building together with a bunch of other neighbors, I think the S8 MAXV ultra is more suited for you as it can silently & efficiently clean your house while not bumping into your wires or eating your shoes leases (at least in my case). PS: they were both at the same price in RO ( 1100 EUR). Hopefully i am not sharing fake biased info, but this was my experience & that's why i stick with S8 MAXV ultra.

I used it for a few weeks and it was really great! I returned it and bought the QRevo Master and the performance is very similar. The mop doesn’t lift as high which could be an issue depending on rugs/carpets in your home. The object avoidance has been roughly the same as well, no issues aside from one cord and even the s8 maxv had an issue with it as well. Vacuuming/mopping is excellent on both models with no noticeable difference. Both were able to complete my torture tests with 100% efficiency 😂

Look into a roborock s7 max ultra or the s8. Make sure you get a plumbing kit and plumb it in with your washing machine lines or something similar. Program it to run each night in areas that won't bother sleeping people and during the day in areas it won't annoy work from home/summer kids. Having your entire home vacuumed and mopped every day basically eliminates dust in your home. Your air conditioner filters will last noticeably longer, and you will hardly see dust accumulate in the usual spots. I've also noticed I don't have to use Pesticide inside as any food source is removed from scavenger bugs, and with the absence of scavengers comes an absence of predator bugs. As one of the few people I know that have gone down this route, I notice my floors are much cleaner than any of my friends. I don't own a mop or an indoor Broom. They can also be tied in with home assistant if you want to tinker that way.

SwitchBot s10 is good for the auto refill and drain and it chews wires more than my roborock, like 2-3 out of 30 days, but I have to save it as it will pause cleaning amd cannot dock.

Auto refill Drain is a must. Currently have the roborock S8 Max V ultra with auto refill/Drain. Is there an offering with better mopping capability. Considering moving that one up to the second level bedrooms (all hardwood/tile). We have a dog non shedding small but that brings in paw prints and 3 kids. our first floor is 1000sq/ft open floor plan all hardwoods except one wool carpet that I created no go zone and vacuum with a canister vacuum. Small Object detection isn’t as important as I put all the dining chairs up, ottomans etc and pick up all the stuff off the floors before running the vacuum. It’s essentially a wide open space. The most important in priority is great mopping, creating zones, edge vacuuming, aesthetics (smaller charging base like the roborock). . it looks like my options are the Dreame X40, Eufy Pro, Narwhal Freo z (bonus sold at Costco) are there any other options? Will the Saros series with the refill/drain come to the US? I can wait if there is something better coming up from another brand down the pipeline.

The S8 maxv is quite expensive tbf at that price, I wouldn’t buy it for more than 900-1k probably. And 10 at that price also not worth it. Are you able to get the Curv or edge or even the QRevo master ? If it has to be absolutely those two then I would go for the 10 because it has the duo divide roller, lifts the side brush which is also tangle free, new robot and dock design, but I reckon prob most people would/should get the maxv

When I had first gotten the S7 MaxV Ultra’s k had questions about original accessories and I had emailed them and they replied so quickly with the Information I needed. First of all Z70 is just a bad version of Saros 10R! So don’t even consider it, the internal tanks are so small just for a gimmick. Why I’d say Saros 10R over S8 MAXV Ultra (I have both): - auto detachable spinning mops: - can cross thresholds; - base had removable tray for easy cleaning; - better object detection in smaller frame so fits more places. - I have 3 cats and they both vacuum equally I’d say. I run them multiple times per day so I don’t let it build up too much. But spinning mops are really better.

Well probably the obstacle avoidance, the only problem with it is the light. If its a little dark it doesnt turn on and in my case it misses out on black cables under my sofa and gets tangled in it. The other one is the flexi arm brush that never want to work even if i turned on the settings in the app. I can say that in this price range Roborock should do something because this is just software.

I have had a S8 MaxV Ultra for a year. I love it. I’ve had MANY other robots come through my house and none have compared to it. Not even the new Saros 10r. I had 2 of those and they were both awful. I would not recommend it at all. If you didn’t get the S8 the only other one I would say would be the Saros 10 (not the R though). I like the mopping on them far better than the spinning mops. I think the sonic mopping just cleans better. And I have 5 dogs, a cat and live in a dusty, desert area so I put them through the test.

I've been in the same boat, dealing with pet hair from my two furballs! IMO, it's crucial to have something with strong suction and efficient mopping abilities for a 400sqm tiled house. Among your choices, the dual rollers of the S8 MaxV Ultra seem like they'd handle pet hair really well, but don’t overlook having a solid all-around option. If you’re after something versatile and future-proof, you might want to consider checking out [this handheld vacuum](https://link.getsosocial.com/handheld-vacuum). They’re known to manage pet hair like a boss and are pretty robust for large tiled spaces. You won't regret making the investment!

Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure I remember them demoting the S8 MaxV Ultra quite badly after their updated mopping test. And in my experience it was very mediocre. I also mentioned the water tanks and maintenance because OP said he was a newbie, so it's not unreasonable to assume that he's not familiar with the required maintenance of these devices. That's not something the manufacturer will readily mention, and most reviews will barely gloss over maintenance or skip it altogether.

Ignore what everyone wrote here. No one knows what they are talking about. What you need is a robot with cameras and flash and lidars on the front so it can avoid everything in the path. All the models listed here are wrong. What you need in my opinion is a maxV model from roborock (they are a bit more expensive but for a reason). They have one of the best avoidance system. They get discounted heavily during sales like prine day, black friday etc. MaxV is the name u want. You could get the Q revo pro or Q revo MaxV wich is a bit more than you probably would pay but it mops the floor as well and that means you can go weeks without having to mop yourself. Some dreame vacuums also perform well. Please avoid roomba and other american mainstream models, they are a decade behind (sadly) to chinese brands like roborock and dreame. Another thing: on youtube there is a huge community with all kinds of pets and kids-tests with obstacles with every model on earth so you can see it yourself what will work for you

Some is better than nothing at all. Their MaxV models have the strongest object avoidance, and benefit the most from updates as well. I recommend watching the latest VacuumWars video on the Q Revo Master, and he actually apologizes because he originally said the Q Revi max v wasn't worth it due to the bad object avoidance. However he learned there was an update, and after that it was a night and day difference. It's no different to any other computer, first couple months or so are always the toughest. After an update or two they are significantly better.

Strange. I couldn’t either. I love the mini rollers idea as well but at that price you could get 2 good roborocks or a great but slightly not as stellar one with the q revo master for currently on sale $800 . It has a BLADE that cuts the hair off the roller. These things go on sale like last years car models. It’s a great investment but being over $1000 when I could get one that does just as good a job with slightly more maintenance… ( I have the s8 pro ultra and love it. Got a discounted refurbished Amazon renewed one and on sale. No regrets.) EDIT. I hate hair in the rollers too. Im really curious to know now if the blade is effective. You make a good point about the hair. We’re getting these things because we don’t want to hassle with the vacuuming. It’s hard to put a price on convenience.

While robot vacuums do not replace hand vacuuming or mopping from a "deep clean" perspective, the Roborock S8 Ultra has turned those into an 'every other month' activity for my pet-owning household. YMMV depending on what it would need to tackle for your home, but the in-depth customisation and time saved has made it the best appliance I've spent money on in the last few years. YouTube channels 'The Hook Up' and 'Vacuum Wars' do good comparison videos and might help you get an idea of what you can expect.

Amazon has the Qrevo Master for $799 ($1599) right now. This is the best deal you're gonna get. I'm on my 2nd 10r (coming from S8 Pro Ultra) and I'm not impressed. It's sooooo slow. It takes 2 charges and over 2 hours to clean <700sqft. Love the dual spinning mops. Duo divide brush doesn't tangle but the suction...kinda sucks...or doesn't suck! 🤭 The one thing I will give the 10r is that it rarely gets stuck. The Qrevo master has the spinning mops, self cleaning dock, flexi-arm, obstacle avoidance, lidar nav, and the original vacuum brushes. It has almost all the things the 10r does and it's half the price!

I have dark concrete floors and rugs in every room. No carpet. I have 3 cats so lots of hair and cat litter. My S8 Pro Ultra vacuum performance was superior. The 10r leaves behind litter and debris particularly on the concrete. Does pretty well on rugs. I don't hate the 10r I just expected it to be a major upgrade and so far it's not. Better in some ways and worse in others. I just can't get past the fact that it took my S8 and hour to clean my <900sq ft apartment - maybe 60% battery used and my 10r takes over 2 hours to do the same job and needs to recharge to finish, thus taking 4ish hours every day. For this reason alone I will likely return it. Mopping performance is an improvement.

I have a roborock S8 - it does an ok job - valetudo is not supported yet as roborock have gone to lengths to prevent it using different encryption keys on the bootloader, I guess they want your data and need it connected to their cloud. Maybe this is because it has two cameras on it. The dust bin is small so if you have carpets it fills up quickly with fibres. The option for auto emptying dock is very expensive The solution is to vacuum more often than you would normally then it doesn't fill up so fast. If you are privacy focussed and want valetudo look at what is supported and recommended by those folks

It's definitely an upgrade to the standard dragging a wet cloth. Flagship Saros 10 is using vibrarise too but its a bit more updated and has more vibration and downward pressure. Not sure how big of a difference in terms of performance it is compared to the S8. If you can find S8 for a good price then I think you wont be disappointed I also think when choosing between rotating and Vibration mops its about preference and what type of floor you have. The rotating mops are using more water I believe and could have a tendency to leave wet streaks on floors

Also have an s8 with vibrarise. I’ve read that the super “in” dual rotating mops aren’t proven to be better than vibrarise. What I will say is that I think mops on robot vacuums are still a “maintainer/extender” feature than a true mop up stains type of feature. If you manually mop, the s8 will make it so you have to do it less often. It’s not a replacement for that first initial manual mop. Besides that, I’ve enjoyed the s8 as it was an upgrade from my original s4. Obstacle avoidance is pretty good, although, I’m just used to tidying up before running it now a days.

Supposedly the S8 fixed the base station filter "puddle" issue right? It was my only major complain about the S7, it gets nasty and smelly very quickly. The minor one being the lack of the native support to hook up to water supply and waste lines (which I believe was an option in mainland China). But overall it's the best $1,000 I've spent on household items, wife is much happier now lol.

I come from an s5max, which vacuumed, but the mop only wet the floor. The aspiration of the s8, mine is basic, only with a charging base, is infinitely better. The mop cleans the floor, not to give it a 10, but a 6, compared to the 1 for the s5max. I clean the mop with detergent every time I scrub, empty the chicken and refill the tank, it's a bit tedious, but I didn't dare to buy the complete set. The design of the s8 is for the complete game, since the water and chicken tank are very small. I'm quite happy, I spend it about three times a week and I haven't gone back to work myself. I bought another roborock for my mother, the Qrevo pro set, for about €600 and it is much better than the basic s8.

(The J6 went to a family members, the J9 went to our upstairs FROG room) The object avoidance is fine on my Roborock, I had a cord snag day 1 and 2, once I got that area tidy'd up no issues since. Roomba's support for me has always been excellent. For example, they sent me a new vacuum motor for my J9 after warranty was up. I haven't had to use Roborock's and I've heard mixed reviews, I haven't heard a lot goof form Dreame, so that was a big factor for me. I had roborock s8 for past 15 months. In the first 11 months its front wheel broke , then after 14 months its suddenly erroring out "Error 4 cliff sensors not clean" and goes in circles. Finally it stopped working. I contactes their support and they mentioned that its out of 12 month warranty and I have to bear the cost of repairs estimated to whopping 500-600 dollars. Whats the point of buying such an expensive product which barely works its warranty period. PLEASE DO NOT BUY.

Ruling out an S8 over long hair is wild to me. If me saving nearly $1k means every few months I have to remove the rollers and remove my wife and daughter's long hair from them - which takes seconds to do - then it's a no brainer for me. To each their own, I guess.

If all you care about is the vacuuming performance, the dyson robot vacuum is the best performer (especially against fine dust and deep carpets), If you want other commodities/features, then the roborock S7 is good. The s8 and newer units have more features but decreased vacuuming performance. I wouldn't get a roomba unless you value support/warranty the most, irobot vacuums aren't the best anymore but they do support their machines for a long time and support is better than what you will get with roborock/dreame/dyson. Regardless of what you choose, modern robot vacuums will do a good job.

No it's not bad advice, vacuumwars tests are often not representative of real world scenarios and fail to mention some of the degradation modern releases have had over older robot vacuums. To be fair, on his review of the S8, he did mention the reduction in performance over the S7, however, he didn't showcase how bad it is compared to the old S7 (particularly against deep carpets and tiled floors). You can see what I mean on this channel: [https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ](https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ) , the owner uses multiple carpets of different density and materials, uses certified test dust along with other challenges that you'd expect robot vacuums to be able to deal with (tiled floors, hard floors, etc). You can find similar reviews on asian blog posts (chinese & japanese in particular), where roborock gets way more critiques for overhyping their products and reducing the quality of new releases while having zero after-sales support.

Vacuum wise, the dyson vis nav is the leader right now. Not the smartest or nicest features but the core product is as good as it gets today. Modern robot vac models focus on quantity of features over quality and people seem to like it, which is why flagship models have tons of features that you (or the robot) probably won't use. If you want something smarter but don't mind having worse vacuuming performance, then go for the roborock s7. I'd suggest the S8 if it wasn't because it has worse vacuuming performance than the previous model. I have a dreame and roborock and honestly can't tell that much of a difference between the two.

Yes, S7 MaxV is another league compared to S7, Q7, S5, S6, Q5. S6 maxv was already a small step. I also have an S8 at the moment, and it's not as good as the S7 MaxV. It's is very close, though, if the price difference is high. S7maxv is the only robot that recognizes Ikea Poang as its mortal enemy and avoids it. It sometimes gets stuck on things, but I no longer clean before turning it on remotely.

We have a 3200sq/ft main floor of your house. Originally I had two S8 and just upgraded to a single 10R. The biggest issues I had with the S8 was no dock, hair tangles and below average mopping. The dock can be solved with a number of models but tank and bag capacity make a huge difference as well as mop cleaning. I had to touch the S8 way too often to remove tangles which meant I ran it less and less. The mop itself just doesn’t do well with only vibrating plus it dragged on the carpets. The 10R so far is a huge step up, especially with tangles and mopping. The corner reach and spinning pick up a lot more dirt and the removable mops keep the carpet dry. I also don’t have to touch it or the base often since it takes care of itself. I also get more cleaned due to the lower profile and believe it’s much quieter than my S8. If any of those features are worth it, spend once and enjoy the benefits.

Does a good job of avoiding stuff, but things like cords might be a bit too small for it to see. It’s got a good mop on it too, which is to say that it doesn’t just drag a microfiber cloth around.

That said, with your main priorities, I would not consider buying the S8, as the saros10r / qrevo curv offer a better anti-tangle brush and thus less maintenance. Wow, that's crazy! I came across this old thread as I'm looking for new automation ideas but just have to comment about my Roborock S6. We've neglected the hell out of it. It has 1555 hours on it with minimal maintenance. Ran it every night for 4 years or so. So I always thought these things were tanks. It still works, but it's now our upstairs vacuum and we just don't use it very often because it's on carpet now which it just doesn't do well on. I just picked up the newer S8 last year as we wanted an upgraded one with a self-emptying dock. So far we have 330 hours on it. Hoping we don't run into the issues you had - maybe we should be better at maintenance on this one. Just in case.

You are going to love your S8! Once you get used to it, check out the higher suction settings and 2x cleaning options on your high pile carpets. It will dig out hair, dust, dirt and debris you never imagined were in there! But don't run the highest suction setting on your high pile carpets too often. They can suck the carpet fibers right out of the carpets. I use the highest setting (Max+) about once per month with 2x for a deep cleaning. Otherwise I use either Max or Turbo on them for my three times per week routine cleaning. I hope you love your S8! I have two of the basic ones with only charging docks. I love them!!!

I have had excellent results with Roborock S8s and Saros 10R with Home Assistant. All of my Roborock app routines were fully integrated into Home Assistant as entities. Now I can run every aspect right from Home Assistant, and by extension, through Alexa using voice routines. This is fantastic! I have used other robovacs with home assistant, but I have never had them integrate so well! Since Roborock robovacs are the only thing I am qualified to talk about, I will make some suggestions. I, personally, would avoid automatically detangling roller brushes. They do detangle very well. But they do not clean as well, especially with lots of pet hair and on rugs and carpets. The dual roller systems take a few minutes to maintain, but they clean much, much better than the single split roller systems that auto detangle. Personally, I would seriously consider something along the lines of a Roborock Qrevo Master. It is a great compromise between dock automation and good vacuuming ability. It has the dual rollers systems for excellent vacuuming, a mostly automated dock, but it does make some compromises. It is a bit more than you want to spend. But it is an excellent system that offers a lot at a much lower price than other models.

I have two Roborock S8 robovacs with charging docks only. They are phenomenal vacuum cleaners! Vacuuming is their best feature. You will be incredibly pleased with the basic S8 that if on sale for $350 right now. After you run it and see what it sucks out of your rugs and carpets, you will think you have never cleaned your home properly before. Our two do better than our fancy Shark Professional and Dyson upright vacuum. You won't believe me till you see it for yourself. Here is the downside of the S8 if you were considering a fancy robovac with automated dock that does everything for you. The basic S8 does not have such a dock. You can get one for an additional $1000. But you don't need one. It takes two minutes to empty the dustbin and clean the rollers in the S8. This is a small thing for it to ask after it spends over an hour cleaning your house for you. Two minutes saves you $1000. And the $350 S8 will vacuum much, much better than any other robovac flagship costing $1500 on rugs and carpets. Hard floors are easy. Carpets, especially deep cleaning carpenter, are where the real challenges are!

I am completely unfamiliar with the model you are looking at. But I hope I can still help a little bit. Don't look at pascals at all. They are completely meaningless. The ability to create a vacuum doesn't help much. The important thing is airflow. That is what moves debris kicked up by the rollers through the vacuum channel into the dustbin. No one gives airflow information. If the robovac has a single split auto detangling roller, it has worse airflow than much older models with full length single or double rollers. This is only a generalization. I am not talking about specific models. And it is generally true for any robovac by any manufacturer. My personal example of this is that my older, charging base only $350 S8 with 6000Pa of suction power significantly outperforms my $1500 Saros 10R with 18500Pa of suction power when it comes to pure vacuuming capability. I live in the USA. I don't know what things cost in Europe. But I would consider a base model S7 or S8 with only a charging dock over significantly newer, fancier models if vacuuming cleaning ability is the only factor. They also mop well, but there are better mopping models out there. They just quickly sacrifice vacuuming ability. I hope this helps get you a little bit further!

I am not sure it is the best option, but I think it is a solid option, especially for the price. Keep in mind that the Q models are somewhat stripped down versions of fancier models. As far a vacuuming ability goes, I think it will do very well. Auto detangling split single rollers are all the rage right now because no one wants to spend two minutes removing the rollers, pulling off their ends, removing wound up hair from the ends and putting it back together. These new rollers are great at avoiding hair tangles, but they provide mediocre vacuuming ability. The Q5 Max+ has the slightly older dual counter rotating solid rollers. In my book, this is excellent! The two minutes per week you will have to spend on roller maintenance will get you much, much better vacuuming performance than you would get with a $1500 Saros 10R flagship model. Personally, I opted for a pair of charging dock only S8s because they are vacuuming monsters, and I don't mind manually emptying my dustbin because I would have to remove it weekly anyway to clean the air filter. So will you even though it has a self emptying dock. I love my S8s and they vacuum clean like beasts, especially on rugs and carpets!!! I don't think the Q5 Max+ is that much of a step down from an S8 when it comes to vacuuming abolity. But you will have a bit less flexibility and capabilities in the app. All the essentials will be there. I think it will serve you well. Good luck and happy robovacing!

Get a charging dock only Roborock S8 for its fantastic vacuuming ability on rugs and carpets for upstairs. Turn down the suction power in the bathrooms or any robovac will struggle with your bathroom rugs and mats. Consider a Roborock Qrevo Master for downstairs. It also has the same excellent vacuuming ability of the S8, and it mops very well also. There are a few reasons for this suggestion. Most people want the modern split single auto detangling rollers because they can avoid having to spend two minutes each week removing the rollers, pulling off the ends and removing the wound up hair. Two minutes! That's all it takes. The solid dual counter rotating rollers in the S8s and Qrevo Master vacuum clean much, much better because the rollers kick up debris better than the detangling rollers and these robovacs have much better airflow too. Pascal numbers are meaningless marketing hype. Airflow is what moves debris kicked up by the rollers through the vacuum channel into the dustbin . No manufacturer provides airflow information. The Qrevo Master has a nicely automated dock, but not a fully automated dock like the super fancy models. You get auto dustbin emptying and auto mop washing and drying. What you don't get is an automatic floor cleaning solution tank. This means you will have to add a bit more than one tablespoon of cleaning solution to a full clean water tank if you want to use the solution. Robovacs mop just fine with just water. But the solution does add a nice shine to the floor, it helps with water spots, and it helps a little bit with cleaning. What you do get is savings. The Qrevo Master gets you all the important features of the super expensive models for far less money. But you will have to add a tablespoon of cleaning solution if you want to use it, and spend two minutes per week on maintenance. I think this is an ideal solution for you. It would be for me in your situation. Avoid the auto detangling rollers if excellent vacuum cleaning ability is important to you. Good luck with your selection! I hope you love whatever you choose!

Your S8 is a vacuuming champ, especially using its higher suction settings. It is very hard to find a robovac that will outperform it on rugs and carpets. I am not aware of any that do so at this time. The 10R is very cool, but it is a very average vacuum cleaner at best. We have two charging dock only S8s and a 10R. The S8s vacuum clean much, much better than the 10R on rugs and carpets. Everything else about the 10R is fantastic. But as a vacuum cleaner is is about as good as a bargain brand cheap robovac. Almost any robovac can do an acceptable job vacuuming hard floors. If your S8 is not doing a good job vacuuming rugs and carpets using its higher suction settings, there is definitely something wrong with it. Have you kept up your maintenance and changed the rollers as recommended? Is it's dustbin empty when you start cleaning? Is your exhaust port clogged? Perhaps you need a new vacuuming blower. These are available on Amazon and are fairly easy to replace.

That depends entirely on what kind of obstacles and thresholds you need to overcome. Keep in mind that these are primitive cleaning machines, even the fancy, expensive ones. Expecting much more from them is a bit ridiculous. The only reason to get the new, fancy navigation system with better obstacle avoidance is if one's home is a mess and/or there is a risk of pet waste on the floor. The new navigation system is only a bit better, not much better than lidar. And it is far from perfect. I pick all the stuff on our floors up (mostly cat toys) before vacuuming anyway. The fancy obstacle avoidance features are wasted on me. I have a Saros 10R. I much prefer my old lidar S8s for their significantly better vacuuming ability and because they are much faster at getting the job done. Shiny floors with reflections, mirrors, strange carpet patterns and more all mess with the navigation system in the Saros 10R. It may be better, but to me it feels like the machine is insecure, hesitant and spends too much time futzing around with anything it doesn't like. I want it to move along and get the job done. The Saros 10R also wanders around the house once in a while before picking back up and getting back on task. The new navigation system is very cool, but I find it annoying to use in practice. How big are your thresholds? I have a big one beneath the door from our house into the garage. The Saros 10R can climb over this one and our S8s cannot. Otherwise, we have several other thresholds in our house that are over an inch tall and are all right angles (nothing that looks like a ramp at all). Our S8s may not be graceful at it, but they always get over them. I have one threshold which is closer to an inch and a half. I made a little ramp for it that works very well and looks like it belongs where it is. It looks nice in our home. Our S8s climb this ramp just fine. In case this is useful, if one removes the mops or leaves them in the dock when vacuuming only, a robovac can climb thresholds better than with its mops attached. All the cool stuff in the marketing videos are all done under ideal conditions. Please do not expect anything like what you see in the videos to work that well in the real world. Lastly, a robot vacuum cleaner is simply a vacuum cleaner with some cool features. If it can't vacuum clean very well, it isn't useful to me. For me, the Saros 10R was a very fancy, impressive, expensive mistake. A Qrevo Master for $700 less would have served me much better and left me with a cleaner house. Here is an idea! Get a Qrevo Master and I will trade you my Saros 10R for it! 😁 I hope this helps!

Lots and lots of hair can be a problem for any robovac. They are very small machines with very small dustbins. Anything with decent vacuuming ability will require more frequent maintenance. A Qrevo Master should do a great job, but there is the possibility it may not. For anything you choose in the end, I suggest you thoroughly vacuum your home with a good upright first, before you start using the robovac. From there, use your robovac often!!! I suggest at least every other day. Check you dustbin often before it gets emptied by the dock. If it is about 2/3rds or more full before the dock empties it, increase the emptying frequency so that the robovac returns to the dock more often for emptying. Also, make sure the suction in the dock is set to maximum when it empties the robovac dustbin. Any robovac with a self emptying dock has an extra tiny dustbin. Sometimes vacuuming huge amounts of hair can be achieved more successfully with something like a $350 base model, charging dock only S8. It's dustbin is much larger. This means you will have to empty it yourself. But the robovac will go much further before this is necessary. I use two basic S8s. Each vacuums half of my house. When they are done, I take them to my garbage can and empty the dustbin. Then I remove the rollers, pull of the ends and remove the wound up hair. I also use two air filters in rotation. The dirty one gets rinsed well under hot tap water and is set aside to dry for at least 48 hours. A clean, thoroughly dry one is put back into the dustbin and you are ready to roll. This should be done with any robovac weekly. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. It takes me a few minutes and it is very easy to do. For this effort, I get excellent vacuuming ability and I do not have to spend 90 minutes vacuuming our house. The most important thing for me is that I do not have to revacuum my house with an upright after the robovac is done. I hope this helps!

The Curv and the Edge are almost identical. It is a good thing you did not choose to go the same route a second time! What did you not like about the Edge? My guess is vacuuming ability. If this is the case, you will love the S8!!! Any S8 model is a vacuuming beast!!! There is a bit of a cost for excellent vacuuming ability. It will require about two minutes of your time once per week. You will have to remove the rollers, pull off their ends, and remove the wound up hair that collects around them. These two minutes of effort will provide you much better vacuuming capability than any model by any manufacturer with auto detangling rollers. Here is another free tip. Order at least one spare air filter today! When you maintain your rollers, remove the dirty air filter from your dustbin. Rinse it thoroughly under hot water from both sides. A small nylon brush can help dig out the gunk and fuzz from the filter during rinsing. Be gentle! Set the wet air filter aside to dry for at least 48 hours. Put a clean, thoroughly dry air filter back into your dustbin and you are all set. The next time you swap them back. One should do this with any robovac from any manufacturer!!! I hope this helps!

I think airflow is the key. High pascal numbers require a contained vacuum. The only way to achieve this is by restricting airflow. Most robovacs use either the same or very similar parts made by a very small pool of manufacturers. Many, many robovacs all have the same parts no matter which robovac company makes them. I see this all the time. I will crack open a model with 20,000Pa of suction power and find a vacuum fan of the exact same model as I replaced last week in a robovac with only 2,200Pa of suction power. The same one!!! This leaves a restricted airflow as the only means of achieving 20,000Pa of vacuum pressure. You cannot create a vacuum in open air.

I just have a standard test for vacuuming ability after I complete a repair. Since every mopping technology works very well as long as it is done frequently, I don't bother to test this. Our little house has people with long hair, two cats, a litter box, and lots of heavy, dirty foot traffic. Everything gets well trampled in quickly. I have a test robovac vacuum our three carpeted bedrooms on its highest suction setting. When it has finished, I send one of our base model, charging dock only Roborock S8s through the same three rooms on its highest suction setting. Then I compare the results of the dustbins. The test robovac went first when the carpets were dirtiest because they had not been cleaned yet. Its dustbin should, in principle, be the fullest. The S8 should have less, right? So far, after hundreds of robovacs, nothing has beaten one of my S8s yet, and it only has 6000Pa of suction power. The S8s almost always come back with roughly 3-5 times more debris than the test robovac by weight or volume. I have even tried this same test in reverse. Then the S8 has a nice full dustbin, and the test robovac's dustbin, while not empty, has almost nothing in it. When I try this with one S8 followed by the second one, the first one has a full dustbin and the second one is almost empty. There are some that come much closer to my S8s than most. One is the S7. Other, older S series robovacs also do very well. Actually, many robovacs with about 2,000Pa or more of suction with dual counter rotating rollers do pretty well from many manufactures. What does not perform well is any robovac with any kind of auto detangling rollers combined with high suction numbers. Somewhere around 8,000-10,000Pa there is a noticable decline in vacuuming ability. By the time one hits 18,000-20,000Pa it becomes terrible. My test is not fancy. It is not scientific or carefully calculated or AI weighted. But it is extremely reliable. And, of course, my test only has to please me. I bought a Roborock Saros 10R because I was so impressed with our first $350 S8 when I got it. The Saros 10R is a terrible vacuum cleaner, especially on rugs and carpets. As a result, it only mops now and I got a second $350 S8 to split our vacuuming tasks. Personally, I only ever recommend any model of Roborock S8 purely for its vacuuming ability. But I dislike the mopping system. It does a great job mopping, but the mechanism in the dock used to clean the mops it too complicated and needs far too much maintenance. The only other thing I will recommend to people is a Roborock Qrevo Master because it has the rear spinners that the dock handles well with its very simple mechanism that is easy to maintain. Most importantly, it uses a vacuuming module that is almost identical to the ones used by the S8s. It has everything one needs for a clean house without all the modern nonsense and gimics that cost a lot but do not actually help get the house any cleaner. As for other robovacs, there are quite a few that I like. There are many that have some things that I like and others that I do not. I do have a strong preference for the lower end, basic models from expensive lines. My cheap S8s are a good example of this. But, so far, I don't feel strongly enough about any of them to recommend them. I see most of them simply as average. The fact that my favorites are Roborocks is unintentional. However, iRobots and Roborocks make up almost half of all of the different robovacs I get to work on. They are the ones I have the most experience with. This is only my opinion. I am fortunate that I only need to please myself. I hope this answers your question. I am not sure it does. Keep in mind that it takes a while before the latest models come to my door. I hope this helps!

Just keep in mind that pascal suction numbers are meaningless when it comes to vacuuming ability. Vacuum pressure is measured in pascals. A vacuum chamber can have super high vacuum pressure, but it can't move anything anywhere. What really counts is airflow. Airflow is what moves debris kicked up by the rollers into the dustbin. Robovacs are all made with the same, or very similar, very cheap plastic parts purchased from third party manufacturers. Robovac manufacturers just install the parts. Most robovacs, no matter who makes them, essentially have the same or similar parts in them. You can see this yourself by looking up parts for your favorite robovac on AliExpress. If the parts are about the same, there is only one remaining way to create the super high pascal numbers everyone wants to buy. And that is to restrict airflow. And that means poor vacuuming ability. About 5000Pa is about all one needs in a robovac for good vacuuming, as long as there is good airflow. Any robovac with 15,000-20,000+ Pa of suction power has had it's airflow severely restricted in our to produce these high pascal numbers that everyone thinks they want. The best example of this, that I can offer, is that our $350, base model, charging dock only Roborock S8 with 6,000Pa of suction power significantly outperforms our $1500 Roborock Saros 10R with 18,500Pa of suction power when it comes to vacuuming ability. Our S8 vacuums so well, and the Saros 10R vacuums so poorly, that I bought a second cheap S8. Now our S8s each vacuum half of our house in 45 minutes, and the Saros 10R mops in about 45 additional minutes. I don't use the Saros 10R to vacuum at all anymore except for under two dressers that the S8s do not fit under. Furthermore, our Saros 10R is actually our second one. The first one failed six weeks after we bought it and Roborock replaced it. It performed exactly like the first one with poor vacuuming ability. It does do a great job mopping! No robovac manufacturer publishes airflow information. I hope this helps!

I would look at a base model, charging dock only Roborock S8. It has good navigation, excellent vacuuming ability and it lifts it mops over rugs and carpets. It is an excellent machine for $350 right now!!! It does not have any fancy features or an automated dock, but it sounds like you cannot fit any kind of automated dock. It is a simple, solid, reliable machine that performs very well and has an excellent app. I hope this helps!

Robomopping is fairly easy, so I will get back to that later. Excellent vacuuming ability is the biggest challenge. Everyone wants auto detangling rollers nowadays. Auto detangling rollers work great for auto detangling hair. And they require almost no maintenance. But if one wants excellent vacuuming ability, one should avoid them. Dual counter rotating solid rubber rollers kick up debris much, much better than the auto detangling rollers do. These are usually found on the previous generation of robovacs rather than the newest models. The market demands auto detangling rollers and the manufacturers deliver what people want. Everyone is looking for astronomical pascal suction numbers thinking this will make their robovac vacuum better. Vacuum pressure is measured in pascals, and this is what these numbers refer to. A vacuum chamber can have super high vacuum pressure, but it will never move any debris anywhere. Vacuum pressure helps a little bit, but it is actually airflow that moves debris kicked up by the rollers into the dustbin. In order to vacuum well, a vacuum cleaner needs excellent airflow. No manufacturer gives any information about airflow at all because all of their latest models and flagships would look terrible to buyers. This is because the easiest way to deliver the super high pascal suction numbers the market currently demands is to restrict airflow. Here, the link between high pascal numbers and low airflow suddenly becomes very clear. Robovacs all use either the same or very similar internal parts. These parts are all very cheap, off-the-shelf parts made by third party manufacturers. You can see this yourself by searching for parts for your favorite robovac on AliExpress. Robovac manufacturers buy these parts and install them in their products. It is surprising how cheap the parts are in very expensive robovacs! If they are all using the same or similar parts, there is only one remaining way to increase vacuum pressure - decrease airflow. The result is decreased vacuuming ability. Robovacs with dual counter rotating rollers and good airflow vacuum much much better than any newer model currently available. This comes at a cost. Better vacuuming ability requires two minutes of weekly maintenance that the newer models with poor vacuuming ability will spare you. You have to remove the rollers, pull off their ends, and remove the wound up hair that collects around them. If you want excellent vacuuming ability, these two minutes of maintenace are required. All of the above applies to all robovac manufacturers equally. My favorite robovacs for vacuuming ability are any of the models in the Roborock S8 line. Every one of these vacuums very, very well. I have a pair of $350 base model, charging dock only S8s with 6000Pa of suction power. They both so significantly outperform our $1500 Saros 10R with 18500Pa of suction power in vacuuming ability, that I now only use our Saros 10R as a mop while the two S8s each vacuum half of our house. Any model of Roborock S8 has good dual counter rotating rollers and good airflow. However, I do not like the mopping system on the S8s although they do mop very well. And this brings me to the topic of mopping. Rollers, vibrating pads and spinning mops all mop very well. While rollers probably do clean better, If one mops often, the difference is negligible as long as the floors have been thoroughly vacuumed first. Rollers need maintenance at least weekly or they will clog with hair, debris and gunk. This is not always easy depending on the model. Vibrating pads require complicated mechanisms in the dock for cleaning. These can get filled with hair and gunk and also require significant maintenance. For a robovac without a dock, they are great because the pads can just be thrown into the washer for easy cleaning. My favorite option is spinning mops, because the dock mechanism is simple and effective. About once per month, the mopping tray needs to be removed and separated into its three parts. These parts need to be rinsed in the sink and reinstalled. This process is quick and easy. This brings me to my best option for a recommendation. This is the Roborock Qrevo Master. It is the only model that combines the S8 vacuuming module with rear spinning mops. It has dual counter rotating rollers that do require about two minutes of easy maintenance once per week. It uses the rear spinning mops that its dock can clean and dry well without much maintenance, and it has a nicely automated dock. However, the dock is not as extensively automated as many newer, fancier models. But it has everything one needs. It is a very nice dock! The Qrevo Master has everything necessary for a thoroughly cleaned home. It skips all the gimics which will impress your friends and cost a lot, but will not get your home any cleaner. A robovac's primary function is vacuum cleaning. If it cannot vacuum clean very well, it is not useful to me. For this reason, I only ever recommend any model of S8 and the Qrevo Master. My personal choice is the Qrevo Master. Our Saros 10R was a very fancy, very expensive mistake. A Qrevo Master, which costs almost half as much as the Saros 10R would have served my needs much better! I hope this is helpful! LATER EDIT: Sorry I didn't add this to my original reply above, but I control all three of my Roborocks using Home Assistant. Use the Roborock integration, not Matter. Matter will only give you the most primitive basics: clean, pause, dock, etc. While the Roborock integration does not function quite how I want it to, it does work very well. For the time being, I created routines for all of my cleaning needs for my entire house within the Roborock app. These come into Home Assistant as entities I can use like a button. My favorite automation also includes Alexa through an input Boolean. I can tell Alexa to clean the house. This starts a Home Assistant automation that runs all three of my Roborocks simultaneously through the Roborock routines. Obviously, most robovacs return to their dock after finishing a routine. I use this to trigger the next steps in the automation and minimize downtime while avoiding traffic jams between robovacs. It works very well! In principal, one can replace the entire Roborock app within Home Assistant. I am working on putting this together right now, but it isn't that easy to do and requires a lot of bits and pieces. I am concerned that future firmware updates might mess with this too after I put a huge amount of effort into setting it up. In the meantime, using the Roborock integration with the Roborock routines and Home Assistant automations works very, very well! I can even see my robovacs running on a map, but there is a much bigger delay in location updating than with the Roborock app. I hope this helps!

With any robovac, huge amounts of hair can be a problem. If the dustbin, which is very small in a robovac, gets completely full, the robovac can no longer clean properly. If the dustbin gets completely full for any reason, one has to adjust one's cleaning strategy. The robovac needs to return to its dock often enough to empty the dustbin so it can keep working. This dustbin emptying frequency can be set per room or by a time interval. This means that when you first start to use a robovac, you will need to pause it frequently and check it's dustbin as it vacuums your home. If your robovac dustbin gets about 2/3rds full after cleaning each room, set the dustbin to empty after each room. If your dustbin gets about 2/3rds full every 15 minutes (adjust time as needed here), have it empty it's dustbin every 15 minutes. Obviously, a robovac is not a full sized, normal vacuum cleaner. They are very small machines with very small plastic parts and have very small dustbin. One cannot think of a robovac, and use a robovac, like one does a normal vacuum cleaner. Robovacs are frequent maintenance cleaning machines. They are not intended for cleaning once per week like a normal vacuum cleaner. They need to be run often. They require a different thought process and a different cleaning strategy. One learns this through experience. Often, completely full dustbins indicate that in order to use a robovac successfully, it needs to be run more frequently. Additionally, a robovac often vacuum cleans so well compared to many normal vacuum cleaners, that it will pick up hair and debris a normal vacuum cleaner has left behind for years. I refered to this as the cleaning backlog. When I started using our first robovac, our dustbins were completely choked full of hair and debris everytime I ran it. So I started running it every day. Our house has always been clean and this situation surprised me. After running the robovac on its highest suction setting through each room of our house every day for three weeks, I suddenly noticed noticed that my dustbins were only about 1/4 full rather than completely full. This was because the robovac had finally cleaned this backlog of hair and debris from our rugs and carpets. From here on out, I was able to reduce my suction settings and the frequency at which I cleaned. One thing to note is that robovacs are slow moving and their battery only lasts a certain amount of time. Ours can vacuum half of our home before needing to return to the dock to charge for two hours. We have several people with long hair, which is usually more difficult for a robovac to handle than pet hair, we have two cats that shed a lot, and lots of heavy, dirty foot traffic in our home. I use our robovacs to vacuum and mop our floors in our entire house at least three times per week, often even more than that. If you can develop a frequent cleaning strategy that takes advantage of your robovac's strengths and overcome its weaknesses, I am confident one of them can serve your well, even with a German Shepard! This will take you a while to learn how to do if you have never used a robovac before. Robovacs are very simple, primitive machines, even the very fancy, very expensive ones!!! They may be somewhat smart, but most of their intelligence will remain in your hands and cleaning strategy. They are not perfect and they cannot perform miracles. But they do work very well if one learns how to use their abilities and limitations to one's advantage. A robovac can only do 90-95% of the floor cleaning tasks that homes typically require. They cannot do everything. In the end, your success at using a robovac depends much more on you than the machine itself. I cannot stress this enough! Remember, there are no miracles here! I am confident that a Roborock Qrevo Master will serve you well! But with so much hair, you may have to maintain the rollers more frequently than once per week. Fortunately, this is an easy task. Depending on your results and the size of your home, you will probably be considering adding a second Qrevo Master within months after starting to use your first one. This is why I have three robovacs now. I hope all of this is helpful!

I cannot remember, offhand, many details about the S7's app module. Sorry! Most Roborocks with docks have the ability to change the emptying interval with a time setting, or they can be set to empty the dustbin after every room. Usually, one can also change the vacuuming intensity used by the dock to suck the debris out of the robovac. These settings should be in your dock settings if your S7 supports them. I hope this helps! Edit: Sorry I forgot to answer your questions completely. I use a pair of base model, charging dock only S8s to do all of my vacuuming. I also use a Saros 10R only for mopping because it cannot vacuum clean nearly as well as my cheap S8s. However, I repair robovacs as a side job and see several of them every week. It is fun and I have learned a tremendous amount from this experience over the last several years. I am constantly working on, or testing, robovacs of all kinds.

I am very sorry, but I do not recommend any robovacs other than any model of S8 and the Qrevo Master. This is based on my experience or lack thereof. There are so many different models that I cannot keep up with them. This does not mean the one you are interested in is bad. It just means I am not the right person to ask. I have very high confidence in the ones I recommend, very little confidence in others, and no experience with the rest. I hope you understand! In the end, no one can make your choice for you. I will tell you that I do not personally want to own the vast majority of robovac models made by any manufacturer.

I went from a dumb Roomba (can't remember the model, but a few years old - also if it had an app I never used it) to the S8. The S8 can mop, and is a huuuuge upgrade compared to the Roomba. It can map, it'll show you the progress it's made during the cleaning cycle in the app, it doesn't just run in to crap like the Roomba, it'll avoid shoes, toys, and whatever else is left on the floor. I got it specifically because its good for picking up hair (2 cats and 2 long haired people) and the vibra mop or whatever is not much more maintenance than the regular vac. There are the mopping kinds with brushes that rotate but I read they can have more problems and since I was hesitant about even using the mopping feature, I decided against those. I feel like the model I got is the perfect upgrade without being crazy over the top. To be fair I probably missed out on some functionality with the Roomba. I'm not sure if it didn't have app abilities or I just never got it. It also randomly started speaking French and I didn't know how to fix it so I just suddenly had a little French maid that I couldn't understand but could usually still figure out her problems. If you have questions let me know, sorry if my comment was rambly. I named mine Mopra and she's the GOAT as far as I'm concerned.

Not too gimmicky, not perfect but also not breakthebank expensive.

It depends on how bad your dog hair situation is. My son and daughter in law have gone through 4 of various brands in just over a year. They just gave up entirely. They have 4 full size shedding dogs though. They said it was def the dog hair that kill the vacs and not the kids. On the other hand, my wife and I have a Roborock Ultra and 3 small non shedding dogs. Our robo vac is by far one of our best purchases. Why run it when going for a walk? We run it after we go to bed.

I have a Roborock self emptying one now and mostly got that because it could vacuum and mop. Before I had a neato bot vac and dir just vacuuming the neato is far superior. That did a way better job of throughly heavy duty vacuuming, when I had that vacuum I had 3 German shepherds and a black lab so I definitely needed a ton of suction and power that didn’t clog, get tangled etc. but now I live in the north and with snow and ice and mud I needed mopping too. I also now only have one German shepherd, my other dogs don’t shed as much. But I also have a pot belly pig that always brings in mud. So the Roborock works great for that but for straight vacuum and suction power the neato is better.

We have two shedding dogs and we love our Roborocks. The first one, while it was fantastic filled kinda quickly (not their fault, our dogs shed A LOT) so it was a minor inconvenience to empty it halfway through it's cleaning 2700sqft. My brother became disabled so I gave him that one for his apartment. He loves it and his helper can empty it and help him with harder care items so it saves him money (he was initially being charged an hour every day for vacuuming, now he's not). The second one I got was self emptying so it can continue all by itself and I really appreciate it. I only have to empty the main basin once a week and that's it. Super convenient and does a fantastic job cleaning. I used to vacuum at least twice a day to stay on top of the hair. Now I do a "deep" vacuum once a week- baseboards, under carpets, etc. Roborock gave me hours of my life back and that's not an exaggeration.

Second the OP.  I'd recommend getting a Roborock or similar with self emptying vacuum. It works best on hardwood floors. Carpet not so much. Look into robots with high suction power. Like the other OP, you will still need to dyson up nooks and crannies manually, but the ability to schedule frequent self vacuum in high traffic areas cuts down on your workload significantly.  The self mopping feature imo is not worth it, but maybe the newest models have improved.  From experience, you will want robots that can detect animals (I've seen videos where the robot runs over the dogs tails, gets stuck, and terrifies the dogs). Also look for ones that can detect objects like poop, so you don't come home to a Jackson pollock painting. Look into the clearance height of the robot as well, and compare to your furniture if you are looking to have the robot go under couches and stuff. For example, our roborock barely fits under the couch, and even with 1 cm clearance, will avoid going under the couch if it detects the under-couch fabric is hanging too low (we fixed this by reholstering the bottom of the couch). Worth mentioning if you work from home that the self emptying vacuum feature can get loud, but it is usually very brief and you should be able to schedule emptying times. The robot vacuum companies get you on the replacement parts, which are not cheap. You do get what you pay for though, and routine maintenance (cleaning sensors, replacing brushes, untangling hair from rollers) goes a long way in longevity. I haven't found a robot vacuum that does not pick up hairs in the dog roller yet, so expect to periodically open up the robot to remove hair (usually very easy). For replacement parts, you can go third party for cheaper. Especially so when buying replacements for big brand/popular models. For example, you can get an unofficial 5 pack of vacuum bags for the self emptying vacuum for the same cost as 1 official one (or something like that). For carpets, I'd just go with those manual carpet brushes. Picks up way more hair more efficiently than any vacuum. Just my 2 cents.
