"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"The X40 is so far ahead in the object avoidance realm that it's not even a contest. ... I have my Dreame X40 running at midnight every day and never have to worry about it getting stuck on something or caught on something because it's object avoidance works so well, even in the dark and on all surfaces. ... It stays clear of cat toys, cords, socks, paper towels and all sorts of random household junk. ... the fact that I can run the Dreame daily will keep my house cleaner."

"The obstacle avoidance is also very good and I only have the pet in house setting on for pet messes and it recognizes my fake dog poop all the time and drive around it."

"The AceClean dryboard (its mop pad cleaning tray) on these models is currently the best self cleaning mop tray that can clean its mops as the only maintenance required is to occasionally clean a removable palm-sized drainage filter and wipe down the flat dryboard (no nooks and crannies for dirt to hide)."

"mopping is BETTER than i do."

"I find that with daily vacuuming first to remove any debris that could scratch the floor, then making it mop (using the vacuum first before mopping setting so the spinning mops won't drag any debris which will scratch your floors), made my wood floor have a nice sheen and noticeably felt softer, and the tiles were always barefoot friendly."

"I have 3 parrots so the floor ALWAYS has something on it. Bird poo, food, small chunks of wood, doesn't matter robots got it covered."

"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."

"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."

"I think its hands down the best all around option right now, especially once you hook it up to the water line and drain, i run it daily in our house and we got rid of our cleaning help because of it."

"I have an even thicker rug than this and my Curv has no issues ... It's the reason I bought mine because I have an even thicker rug than that and no robot could even climb onto it"

"I absolutely do not regret buying the robot vacuum. ... My room is a lot cleaner and dust-free now, and I can tell just by wiping my floor with a wet toilet paper and seeing barely anything picked up. ... I've been getting allergens a ton less, most of which not even in my room. ... All this for the commitment of a weekly emptying is miles more convenient than vacuuming traditionally, as opposed to making a few taps on my phone. ... looking back it was definitely worth the investment."

"it is over-cautious with edges and corners, to the point that we occasionally have to sweep and mop manually under them."

"But the X40 as a massive edge in corner cleaning"

"it will not return to the base station to empty it's dustbin when it's full. ... It just keeps going and ends up clogged and dragging dirt around the floor."

"Every year I disassemble it to clean the vacuum filters and vacuum fan intake. It's a terrible design"

"Sadly there ’s no autoempty dock."

"My first impression is that the bot seems to trying to vacuum some spot repeatedly. Took 50 minutes not even finish the floor - circling next to a dining table for like 25 minutes. ... the process was not this painfully slow."

"Also I don get why the bot keeps mopping several times - i thought the first time is the middle and the second time is the wall but it doesn seem to be the case because it mops in the middle of the room. Bewildered, I cancelled it after the second trip."

"The robovacs without Lidar just kind of bounce around, and aren’t nearly as effective at cleaning because they don’t keep track of where they’ve been. They go in zig-zag patterns, and Lidar robots go back and forth."

Vacuum wars said Samsung Jetbot AI was good. I tested it, it's embarrassing how bad it is.

I had a Samsung Jetbot that broke after a year and a half, and would have cost me $150 to fix. I went back and forth on fixing it, but ultimately realized that I could buy a brand new robot for that price. The Roborock Q5 happened to be on sale for exactly that price, so I ended up buying it, and have been using it obsessively to clean up the buildup from the past several months. I didn’t realize how much dust and hair had accumulated on my carpets in that time (I live in an apartment, and don’t own another vacuum), and looking at what a difference it’s made to have a freshly-vacuumed carpet has just given me so much tranquility. I have a cat, but really the buildup had come from me, because I have long hair that tends to shed. There was literally a mouse-sized amount of hair tangled up in the side brush after running the vacuum four times, with the main rollers covered in hair. The advice that was given to me by folks in this subreddit is to make sure you get a robot with Lidar. Lidar is the mapping technology that actually allows the robovac to clean every inch of the floor. The robovacs without Lidar just kind of bounce around, and aren’t nearly as effective at cleaning because they don’t keep track of where they’ve been. They go in zig-zag patterns, and Lidar robots go back and forth. It’s more expensive, but to me the difference is worth it. I’ll also say that what convinced me to get a robovac in the first place is that someone told me it forces them to keep their floors clean. You can’t have your floors cluttered because it will block the robot and stop it from doing its job, or even get it tangled up. So that’s just one more reason to get one.

We started with a Eufy X8 in 2023 (for £320) after our second child arrived and the hoovering just wasn't getting done. We were very happy with it but it lasted 13 months before one of the sensors gave up and it wouldn't operate any more. It was outside the 12m Eufy guarantee so they were useless. Luckily had bought through amazon who happened to have a 24m guarantee on it. We switched to a Samsung JetBot at similar price point with a 5y guarantee. Am happy with it but I think the eufy did a better job of hoovering, particularly with my wife's long hairs from the carpet. But I was disappointed with eufy's longevity so wouldn't go back to them unless they increase their guarantee. Both of these had mapping software so they went around in an organised/efficient route. The Eufy mapping was better than Samsung. Samsung can't cope with multiple floors. Ours lives in the kitchen where it goes around 3 times a day clearing up crumbs etc. We live in a house so we have to carry it to different floors when we need other rooms done.

Bought mine directly from Samsung. Had the previous version JetBot AI that worked pretty well. This does ok except for one glaring issue I can't seem to resolve, it will not return to the base station to empty it's dustbin when it's full. It just keeps going and ends up clogged and dragging dirt around the floor. If I can't get this issue fixed I'll be sending it back.

We have a Samsung Jet Bot that patrols the downstairs of the house twice a day. I wanted it anyways before I adopted my cat. I have actually NEVER found fur on the floors or trapped to my socks, but I do find fur on the sofa or fabric spots that he sleeps on regularly. My clothes probably come second. I brush more than daily as a bonding routine so that helps. I'm in the opinion that any Lidar robot vacuum will help out a lot.

I saw someone say they don't recommend Dyson robots. I don't recommend Dyson anything. Completely overhyped and pretty much everything they make is done better by someone else. Friends have had good experiences with Roborock. I don't know anyone who has a Shark robot hoover, but I recently bought a regular (stick) hoover from them and I am impressed by the build quality. Obvisouly that says little about a robot product, but it shows care. :) I have a Samsung Jet Bot right now. Great machine, but it has a badly built gear that I expect will affect most people sooner or later.

Low quality plastic. I don't know the proper name for them, but it slowly strips the 'teeth'. About 2 weeks ago, it started making noises. I immediately identified it as the sound of a gear slipping instead of gripping. Even on regular turns. I went online and found other complaints about it. Someone 3D-printed new gears because Samsung only sells the whole assembly (\~$150). I have ordered them in the hope I can repair it myself.

I had the Samsung jetbot ai, was good but I think plagued with faults, I sent it in to repair and ended up with the 3 in 1 hoover and mop (worked better for me as I swapped out carpets with hard floors) had it about 2 months and think it's great. I don't think they stand behind some products as the new one is more traditional in design than my original one.

After lots of trial and error, I've come up with the winning recipe of a robot mop (but with the dry swiffer-like pad on) runs every day at 615am. The robot vacuum then comes along about an hour later and gets any missed tufts and dirt. This method saves the robot vacuum from getting clogged daily. Since the pads are dry, the hair all sticks to it and I just pull the blobs of hair off and replace it when it gets actually dirty.
