Shark - Matrix Plus 2in1 AV2630WA

We have the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 (vacuums and mops). The vacuum does well with all the fur from one Pyr and 3 cats. We mostly use it on hard floors so I can’t speak to its effectiveness on carpet. The brush roll rarely gets tangled and the self emptying feature is great. The waste reservoir doesn’t require a bag which is a huge money saver. Many of the self-emptying models require a bag which is an added expense every time you need to empty the bin (which will be often - I empty our bin at least once a week). The mop feature is ok. It’s decent for a quick touch up but certainly won’t scrub caked on dirt or dog drool. The app is fairly rudimentary compared to some of the other manufacturers. Overall we’re happy with it for our use case.

Also you have to empty the bins once a week but we have 3 huskies so your mileage might vary. We had one before that lasted 2 years. Before that we had roombas and those were worthless. After some research and balancing feature vs cost, we ended up purchasing the Shark Matrix Plus 2 in 1 with a bagless self emptying bin. It's a budget robo vac but had some really nice features. We don't have carpet, so that wasn't a feature we were looking for. However, they do state it works on low pile carpet. It has 3 power settings. We only use it in eco. Can't speak to the effectiveness of the more powerful options. But, even on eco, it picks up everything. We have a Golden Retriever that sheds like no ones business and tracks in a lot of dirt. It also mops. You have to insert the mop pad and fill the water reservoir manually, but that's not an issue as we do that once a week. Some times 2x. My favorite feature is how well it vacuums corners. As it moves along the wall, there's a stream of air that pushes debris towards the rollers. It's really good at avoiding objects and moves in straight lines instead of random. It has a HEPA filter in the bin and holds quite a bit.

We just got [this one](https://a.co/d/61g3pK5) by shark and I love it. It vacuums and mops at the same time. We have laminate plank flooring through the whole house and it leaves the floors clean without being wet. It dries quickly and it mapped the house really well. To map the house, I did move everything I could into a back room I don't want it to go in, so it would still get areas when I move furniture around. Turns out it will still get areas when I move furniture anyway. We got rid of a loveseat after the house map was completed and I told it to run the next day. It got the new empty area with no problem. I still have our old vacuum only robot and set them up in Alexa to take turns running. So the house is vacuumed daily (both robots have a base that empties the robot so I just empty bases when they are full), and mopped every other day. I'm currently using the floor cleaner that came with it but I'm getting odoban pet solutions today to mix with water for the mopping vacuum. Very happy with our floors now!

dreame x40 ultra if they can fix their firmware is the best I've used out of the 7 I own and the only one I've never had to rescue. Others for whatever reason or another have needed help. To be fair considering the x40 is super expensive, my shark matrix plus 2 in 1 is best bang for buck and only needed help once in 4 months because it ate a dryer sheet. ​ I'm sure their may be others, but I can only speak on the ones I've owned and used.

Shark Matrix 2 in 1 is a budget friendly option. We refill the tank every day and replace the mop pad (machine washable), so only takes a couple of minutes of maintenance a day. And it maps the house so you can tell it to only clean certain rooms if you want and has an app/scheduling

I have a shark matrix mop & vac. It’s okay, I didn’t get the self emptying one so I have to empty it daily with 2 high shedding dogs, the water reservoir has to be refilled almost daily as well and I only have it going in 3 rooms. I will say I’ve had it almost 15 months now and it ignores my no go zones, sometimes starts at random times and I haven’t found a way to update its software. I’ll definitely get something different next time, but I did enjoy it while it functioned properly.

I paid $298, which was on rollback at Walmart from $500 for my shark two and one matrix and I love it

Well listen I love mine there are a lot of different models and maybe I have a good one I don't know but I love it and the price is right

I've got 3 sharks atm (one for each floor), and 1 broke down after 3 years, another has some battery draining issue but otherwise works (1.5 years), and the third is a refurbished one and has zero issues. Not 100% sure id go for a shark again, but if I got a new one I'd go for a higher priced one. In this price range I think it's pretty good. Just annoying to find parts/fix.

The shark will likely navigate and localise itself better thanks to it's lidar navigation. It will bump into walls softer than the roomba will. However the j5+ will avoid unexpected obstacles on the ground like shoes, cords etc. better. The j5 mopping isn't thorough as there isn't any spinning or agitation, but it's better than nothing. The j5 will also likely last long, unlike many bots that have been suggested by others here

I got the shark matrix with the self empty base without the mop. Works great and no issues with the app so far, I also like that It has Google home integration. I paid $200 at Costco, not sure I would pay much more than that. I would look into the refurbished ones I think they get down to like $150

My Shark is just over one year old out of warranty. I was very happy with it but it just stopped dispensing cleaner when mopping. A common problem with these. There is no fix for it. I’ve tried everything.

I'm quite happy with the Shark vac mop that I got about a week ago. I paid $600. I know Shark isn't often a recommended brand on here but I've had great luck with them. I'm happy with both the mop & vacuum features on this. It can tell the difference between carpet & hard floor & it is very thorough.

I have two Shark ones now and it's one of my fav home items. I have the mop and vac one.

I think it works pretty good! I use the floor cleaner that goes with the machine and think it's super helpful. I still will mop myself here or there but it def does a great job. I don't see any streaks when it's done.

What vacuum is this? I’ve been trying difference vac/mop robots I just had the Shark matrix clean and it was terrible would just leak water everywhere when “mopping” was only good as a vacuum but this one looks like it did an amazing job. I also have a carpet in my living room which send the robot for a loop. It wouldn’t know what to do. Sometimes mopping the carpet or skipping it altogether lol.

I just bought a shark self emptying vacuum/mop robot about a month ago. Haven't had it during heavy shedding, so can't state how it works for that. I run it a few times a week for light maintenance on hard floors. So far I like it better than my old roomba. The roller on the bottom so far has not been getting clogged up with hair, and the self emptying feature is great. In the short amount of time I've had it, i've been really happy it. Hopefully i can say the same in a couple of years.

Fail. The tail furs are too long and strong and the roller kept snapping. I had the pet model too. Gave it away and have been happier with the Dyson and a handheld

I use a Shark Matrix. It self empties and has a lot of features for its price point. It uses both bumpers and LiDAR to navigate around and vacuums up GSD and Lab fur really well.

I like our Shark Matrix. Low cost (relatively), no mop, no bags (empties into a removable plastic bin), and the app is decent. Have been running for a few months and it’s good. We have a dog also (medium hair length). Picks up the hair really well. The claim of 30-days before emptying is BS, as that’s based on a non pet hair household. I auto run it 3 times a week and empty maybe 1-2 times a week. Once every other week it will get stuck, but for the most part it handles the terrain and the thresholds, and jumps onto an area rug well. We also have some new rugs, so they are “shedding” a lot, which makes me empty more often. I think I got it for about $279 around the holidays, but have seen them lately in the low $300’s on Amazon.

That’s crazy. I’d hate that too. How old is it / what model. I’ve never had anything like that happen. I have had it stop because the roller needs clearing, which I now clean about once a week.

I would offer a couple of things. We have a medium length hairy dog. It’s whey we got a robovac, tbh. We got a shark matrix (not selling you this one, just commenting on features I think are important to understand). We’ve had one a few months and it’s a life changer, imho. Two features I’d look for in any vac are rollers that won’t tangle because they have some advanced feature of some sort, and a self emptying bin, not a bag, a bin. I didn’t realize what an advantage the bin would be, and lucked into this feature, because I wasn’t purposely shopping for it. Maybe bags last long and compact the do hair, idk. Our “30 day bin” has a little dirt and is full of a hair ball in a week. I’d ask folks with dogs how long bags last. I’d want to make sure they aren’t ripping through them at a cost you aren’t expecting. Other than that, I love having a robovac, no more hairballs floating all around the house. Enjoy.

It is difficult to find what you need at your price point. You need a mop, good object avoidance and hair pickup due to the pets. So you kind of have to sacrifice in one area. Increase the price or reduce a feature or two. You could do without the object avoidance if you don't run a schedule and check the floors for objects every time you run the robot. Shark matrix is an old version. If you buy a Shark brand, it's mainly for being bagless. Bags are a way for these companies to hide the price of the robot, since you have to keep buying bags at $5 each. I would recommend RV2820YE if you go for shark brand due to it being the cheapest option with no bags, good object avoidance and a mop but it's a little more than what you wanted to spend. I've had a shark for a few years and it works well but I do have to clear the floors for it before running. I'm getting a AV2820S for $400 because it has better object avoidance but doesn't have the complication of a mop, the odor cartridges or the added cost of bags. You probably need a mop though. Irobot J7+ doesn't have a mop so it would leave behind mud from dogs but it has the best object detection, so it won't hit poop. That won't matter if you check your floors before running it. The Euphy L60 doesn't have a mop and the version that does, doesn't work very well unless you get the $800 version. Roborock Qrevo S is on sale now for $460 on Amazon and that's what I would get if I were you. It has good reviews, dual spinning mops, self empty base and object avoidance (though not the best). It seems the general consensus from all the aggregate data here is this: Don’t get Roomba or Shark (wish I’d found this sub before buying my Shark Matrix) they’re the market leaders and lean heavily on brand recognition so they’re very feature poor compared to the competition. Roborock seems to be the far and away most recommended if you’re willing to spend the money. They aren’t cheap but seem to have the best software. It does seem that universally the hardware is good enough these days. There’s not tons of meaningful competition on that side and it’s all the software side of things. The budget market has a less clear winner but going with one of the Asian brands is still the way to go.

I just got the Shark Matrix, it's done pretty well for us with 2 large dogs. All tile and hardwood downstairs. You do have to switch it back and forth from vacuum only to Vac / Mop, because in Vac / Mop, the suction is not great - but it does not wind up a wet sludge.

My Roborock quervo that I got two weeks ago has been incredible. We had a shark matrix because it didn’t have bags, but made a compromise to upgrade. It is like watching a Zamboni drive across the floor when it is mopping.

Shark Matrix from Costco. We’ve had it for more than a year and so far it’s been doing all right. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a reliable vacuum.

I have a Shark Matrix (~$300) and love it! I was skeptical at first but it works so well with getting up dog hair and sand/dirt. It's very low maintenance too.

My Shark Matrix has them also and it's a game changer. I would find myself cutting massive tangles of cat hairs out of my Roomba's roller brush every couple of days!

Another vote here for the shark matrix. We have 4 cats and it makes a major difference at a small price

We have a shark matrix and really love it, though the app is a bit…unfriendly.  Definitely recommend looking for one with self emptying, I have friends with a roomba that doesn’t have self emptying and they mention it every time they see ours 😂

I have laminate flooring with low pile area rugs and use a Shark Matrix robot vacuum. I did a lot of research before buying it because I have long hair and it gets everywhere. LOL. (Seriously. I've had trouble with upright vacuum cleaners in the past.) I also have 2 low-shedding dogs. I bought the vacuum from Costco specifically because of their return policy. I'm really happy with it. I think it would work well with golden retriever hair, but I don't know about cat hair. In my experience, cat hair is very fine, especially the undercoat. One very important thing you should know is that most (if not all) robot vacuums have problems with objects on the floor. Every time I use the vacuum, I have to pick up all of the dog toys, their water bowl, their dog beds, any shoes that I've left on the floor, etc. I don't know how old your kids are, but you'll have problems if they leave things on the floor.

I have a dog and two cats. We have a shark matrix and a roomba. Both vacuums work really well on hard surfaces, which is mostly what we have. Neither does great on carpet or rugs, but if we run the robots once day, we can get away with only vacuuming the rugs once a week to once a month. They work much better for maintenance than for deep cleaning.

We have the Shark Matrix and it does a good job in vaccuming. Only con I have with it is that they don't allow multi floor mapping.

My parents gave me a Shark Matrix for Christmas, and all I could get it to do was spot clean by putting it where I wanted. Though that might have been user error.

We have a roomba j7 and shark matrix. The roomba is "smarter" but the shark is more adventurous. They both do alright. We have a lab/golden mix dog and a cat.

What about a Shark Matrix? They self empty and hold a lot of dirt and do a good job cleaning. I have the Shark AI (which is $279 on amazon) and I love it. Dustbin is big and no bag required, super easy to dump. It has a few filters that you need to find and clean, but I really like that too. It's got some HEPA stuff. It works hard and doesn't freak out too often; the app is pretty solid.

I have 2 versions of shark matrix. Planning on getting another once the basement renovation is finished. I run mine every weekday morning due to having a high shedding dog. My older one isn’t doing so good atm, having issues self emptying but otherwise reliable.

Recently purchased the Shark Matrix and love it. I have 3 dogs that shed like crazy and it’s been working wonders vs the Roomba I previously had. Would’ve got a Roborock but unfortunately the funds weren’t there. The Shark app is super easy to navigate, too. My house is 95% hard wood and it does not get stuck.

I have the matrix shark and like it. The app is really not that bad although can’t see the robot moving around the map with the matrix version. I can set no-go zones.

My shark matrix doesn't have a lot going for it, but the brush roll is a great design. All vacuum manufacturers should copy it.

I have a shark matrix Tbh I love the vacuum part of it. It self empties which is great. I hate hate hate the mopping feature. The pad stays dirty and I constantly have to change it out and never feel like it really gets my floors clean. I wish I didn't even get one with that feature. The vacuuming and mapping aspect though is top tier. So I honestly just mop or use my shark 2in1 vacmop for when I need to really deep clean my floors. Edit - i have 4 dogs, only one primary shedder, full time then 2 more shedders part time when my partner comes over weekly as wel as 3 cats. Then also a small kid. Down side tk the kid is she sometimes let's markers or colored pencils/crayons go under the couches which then get caught in the vacuum. Being woken up by a "my brush roll is stuck" from a deep sleep is very creepy 😂 I will say though, I got it originally when I had 5 shedding dogs jn the house hold full time and I also still live on the same cotton farm. It really keeps up with the dog hair tumbleweeds and dirt.

There are ionic robovacs that actually pick up a lot of dirt. They are not very smart so you have to block off stuff you don’t want them to clean but they love to pick up animal hair. I would probably buy one or two of those and a swiffer and not buy my shark matrix if I had it to do over again. When I had the ion vac I had it run 2x per day and had to empty it daily. If I had 2 I would alternate one to clean at night and one in the morning and

I love our Shark Matrix and it was affordable but I haven’t tried anything else so nothing to compare it to. I will research them all when this Shark stops working to see if there is anything that just cleans better. I like the thought of a vacuum and mop option but wasn’t sure if it was better to get a dedicated vacuum and dedicated mop to do a better job. I love my shark matrix for Budget pick. Also any eufy or ecovacs would be good. Roborock just had a sale. I recently got my dad a shark matrix for his birthday and he loves it!

My husband works for a masonry company. You can literally see the trail of cement and mortar dust he leaves when he walks through the house when he gets home. Doesn't matter if he changes into a clean work shirt after work before getting home, or if he shakes his boots off before coming inside. He gets in the shower and I turn on my little robot and he takes care of it all. I have a shark matrix robot (i can't recall the exact name) but that little robot does a wonderful job. He also can auto empty himself and will do so if he's in the middle of a job and gets too full, he goes back to his dock, dumps his collections, and goes right back to vacuuming until the room is done. Constantly sweeping up after my husband got old super quick. If I could set that robot to just follow him around I would. I only gotta sweep stuff out of corners or places I know Mr. Robot can't easily get to. But i love him, he's part of the family, and his name is Lenny the shark. He has googly eyes.

I have the shark matrix and love it! I run it about 3x a week because half the time I can’t be bothered to pick up before bed. We run it when we go to bed. It’s pretty loud but doesn’t keep me awake.

Four doggos… from 65lbs to just under 100lbs. We have three of the newer shark matrix models from Costco. 10/10. The only run in the downstairs covering about 2200 sqft. With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. Life changing.

I've got a Shark something-or-other that has a "matrix clean" function (Dreame does something similar, I think) where after it finishes an area/room, it goes back and does it again running perpendicular to the run it just finished. I don't have any idea about the *actual* efficacy, but my spouse ("it's not vacuumed until you've gone over the same spot in 3 different directions") ***loves*** it. Since 'perception is reality', our carpets are cleaner because my spouse perceives them to be so.

When I wanted an upgrade from our old roomba that didn’t have a mapping feature we went with the Shark, and I like it way more! Ours is self emptying, has a mapping feature that allows me to pick which rooms it cleans, and the wheels just seem beefier than the roombas, it doesn’t get stuck as often

We got a shark vacuum from Amazon on a black friday/cyber monday deal, came out to about $300 or so. I specifically chose one with the base to auto dump into. We have a long haired 97 lbs dog and 3 cats. The vacuum goes through the house once a day every day. It is noticeable when it doesn't run. Sometimes it gets stuck, either physically on an object, or the long hair is too much and it clogs up the roller and we have to clear it before it can run again. But for the most part, itnis really good at maintaining the floors to look decent. We have a mix of carpet and hard floors. It doesn't get everything off the carpet, but it does enough for the hair to not be noticeable. Without the daily robot vacuums, there are noticeable puffs of fur all over the floor. It definitely was a relief on my mental worries of keeping the floors clean when we got it. I could tell the difference within the first few days.

I’ve been really happy with our Shark. It’s the model with its own tank, so it returns to its dock and empties as needed during the cleaning cycle. You can empty the tank between cleans as needed. It’s able to handle our massive amount of dog hair and go over our low-pile rugs with ease. The only real nemesis has been shoelaces. We have to remember to tuck in the laces in our entryway, or he will try to eat them and stop running.

I have a shark robot vac that does mapping and self emptying. It forces me to be a little more mindful of picking up every night and I love the mapping function because I can keep it out of certain areas depending on how good I was at preparing the house. Highly recommend!

Not BIFL, but our Shark (get the self emptying base!) has withstood 4 cats, a long haired dog, 3 adults, a toddler, and a long haired teenager for 4 years and still doing well. I was incredibly disappointed in the original roomba I tried. If you do buy a shark buy directly from them. Their customer service is phenomenal. I bought one through a home improvement store as it was on sale. It had a charging issue within 12 months and when I called Shark I was told that since I hadn’t bought from them they couldn’t cover the full replacement even under warranty. BUT if I paid shipping they would send me a new one - $34 later I had a new one on the way. Bonus points as I was able to fix the original and had two robot vacs for the price of 1+ shipping.

I like my big Bissell Pet hair vacuum. It was like $250? I think I got it from target. We have a BC, a Sheppard mix, and a yorkie mix. So, with the 2 bigs we have a lot of hair lol ALSO.... if you do not have them already look at chom chom on amazon... it is a little hand held thing that gets hair off of furniture in a breeze!! I have one in the living room and the bedroom. It is like a lint roller without the sticky tape. you just run it back and fourth really quick on the surface you want to remove hair and it picks it up like a charm! I use that on my couch and bed daily! We also got a shark robot vacuum with a tank that it self empties into and we run that every day too. I have found that daily maintenance or every other day is the best way to keep the hair down

We have a self emptying Shark vacuum that is programmed to run in the living room and kitchen at night. As far as baby toys go. Most of that stuff lives in the giant playpen they takes up 1/3 of my living room. We have other toys for when she’s crawling and cruising around, but those get picked up when we’re done, so the dogs don’t get them.

I have 3 golden retrievers and 2 cats. I run a shark robot daily (I paid a little over $300, and is self emptying). I have to clean the brush every time it runs. If I don't run it daily, it just clogs up. Shitty vacuuming every day is better than no vacuuming. Big fan of the Shark line of self-emptying ones. Getting them refurbished for half the price, doubly so.

I have 3 cats, love the shark self empty. It empties 2 or 3 times before its done. They stand by their products, sent me a new unit when the brush failed, came with a 3 yr warranty.

I've been using Roomba's for a while. I have 3 from super dumb to self-emptying... They've been pretty reliable and do a decent job... but are pricier. This year I bought a black friday Shark deal... self emptying... In just a few times of use I find that Shark is behind on the game. This makes me leery to try other manufacturers...

You still have to empty the base but in my experience it allows it to do more than non self emptying. I use mine daily but I also empty the base daily once I get home. I also only use it when they’re up because they would absolutely eat it

Second the shark self emptying one. They do very well with all the hair.

We have a self-emptying Shark for our gsd, gsd/husky mix, and 2 cats. If it doesn't get run at least once a day, the roller brush will get clogged. We also do supplement vacuuming hard to reach spots with a stick vac.

I have 3 and the best cleaner is by far the not smart ilife a4. They are inexpensive and run well on regular low pile carpet. Only complaint is that it sees black carpet spots as a drop and goes haywire. My ilife v80max Is finicky, battery sucks, same black carpet issue. My shark self emptying doesn't do corners and edges well due to the tiny single brush it has, the self emptying doesn't work 60% of the time due to cat hair. Just get the cheap ilife, hell, get 2 or 3 for the price. Mines lasted 8 years and counting.

I second u/Huntit-Ownit ! Get one that has the auto empty dock. I empty mine every couple of days that way. One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace. If you keep an eye on Woot they have refurbished sharks on sale pretty frequently, last one I got for $120.... Edit: Looks like Woot has one refurbished for $129!

I've tried shark and iRobot. Both self emptying. Shark lasted a few years, my iRobot is needing parts replacement after only 6 months. iRobot also requires you to buy their own waste bags. It doesn't work without them.

I’m obsessed with my shark robot vacuum that self empties. I run it 1-3 times and day, I’ve had it for 4 hours. Still works great and I love having a clean floor!

The robot vacuum is life ! We got one when my baby started crawling . It’s amazing ! We got a self emptying shark. Reports to duty every day at 7:50 pm! Haha

A week ago I would have strongly endorsed my auto-empty Shark, but it’s randomly stopped talking to the app (I’ve troubleshooted it as much as I can short of calling support), so now it’s lost half its functionality.

We have a shark with a self emptying and charging station and I love it so much more than the previous roomba. Sharks clean in a stripe or grid pattern whereas roomba is a seemingly random pattern that drives me nuts. Our shark also lets me pick the level of suction eco, normal, max (I almost always use max) but that feature gives more control over the noise, and also has an option for what they call matrix clean but it’s basically a grid, it’ll do stripes all one way then perpendicular to really get everything. I’ve got 3 kids home all day and it does great with tons of food, hair etc. I use my big vacuum weekly on the main rug, maybe monthly on kids room rugs and shark for all other nearly daily maintenance. The big thing for me is the app and the map. Once it learns the house you can send it to just individual rooms to clean which is a lifesaver with small kids as rarely are all the floors clean at once. My kids know and have learned how to get a room clean and “roomba ready” (shark vacuum just habit), so they go pick it up, I send the robot and it’s amazing. Occasionally with an app update your robot will act like it’s lost and doesn’t know the map and you have to remap the house which is annoying, but it’s still so worth it to me.
