"One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace."

I have a Shark Detect Pro on my main floor and a Shark IQ in my basement. I also have two long haired GSDs. I run the IQ daily and the Detect Pro twice a day. The rollers do tend to get hair wrapped around them but once or twice a week but I think that’s any robot vacuum. The single side brushes that come on the robots are lame. Amazon has replacements that have 3 brushes, I recommend those. The dust bin also needs to be emptied every week, not 30 days like advertised. I only have hard floors so I can’t comment on how it handles carpet. The app is terrible and I use Google Assistant to have the robots run according to my schedules.

It's okay. However app needs a lot of work and it tends to forget your map settings after a while for some reason. The robot itself works fine and is mostly like other brands, it's the app and the controllable settings that need a lot of work. No control over suction power (even though the old models had it), no option to edit the floor map without doing the whole thing over again (including carpets if you move or add any), no option to make it avoid more or less objects, etc. The app and settings are very barebones. I would say it's an okay beginner's robot vacuum if you just want a set and forget it type of experience.

I think mopping by robots, even the more advanced ones, is quite superficial, but the vacuuming can be very good. I have had a 360robot S10 that cleaned my living room carpet for a year, once per week. I also used a Dyson-style stick vacuum to clean the same carpet once in a while. I now received a Shark PowerDetect (RV2800ZEEU) through Amazon Vine and in it's first run over the same carpet, it managed to collect an impressive amount of dust. Not new dust, but dust that the other vacuums did not get out. So good robots can do a deep cleaning, as far as vacuuming is concerned. The Shark is 700€. It's mechanics are vastly superior to the 360robot, which is great for the price (250€).

I just got a shark for Christmas and absolutely love it. Basically ignore the reviews. lol. It’s a dual vaccume and mop. Its all going to depend on how much your willing to spend. I should also add I was thrilled to get my vaccume obviously I knew about it and I know it’s not my only gift but I’m seeing comments about how people would be insulted. I guess it’s about if your wife is super materialistic. Appliances were always a thing in my parents marriage as is it in ours and it’s what you get each other when you get older. You want stuff that is useful.

Personally, I like Shark brand the best because once you buy it, that's it. Every other brand, you have to buy replacement bags for the debris. So, the cost keeps going up, while also creating more waste. Shark's, you just empty the bin. And now that Shark has the Nevertouch Pro, it does all the same functions as any other top of the line robot vacuum.

I'm not too worried. Every brand experiences enough problems that someone won't buy it ever again, meanwhile there are hundreds of thousands with no issues. Just like any other product really.

I have used the flagships from all the main Chinese brands, but I wouldn't say that any one is, on whole, better than the Roomba J9 or C10. My main gripes with the Roomba are hair tangles on the roller spindles, lack of edge mopping, and a fast side brush that flings crumbs out of the path. Most recently I got a Roborock Saros 10 that does indeed address those issues, but it falls short in others. The Roomba scrubs dried stains more effectively and it vacuums more debris out of thick carpet. Even though hair can get tangled around the roller spindles, it actually picks up the hair off the carpet. No other brand has been able to effectively pick up hair/fur/fuzz off my carpet (I'm sure Dyson would be an exception, but it doesn't mop). The Roborock won't get close enough to my table pedestal to get the crumbs that have fallen there, which is a daily annoyance. Roomba has no trouble with this. Roomba has great integration with Google Assistant, so I can have it clean shortcuts/routines without having to take my phone out of my pocket. I haven't seen any other brand be able to do this. Roomba and Shark are the only brands that can effectively avoid dragging a wet pad across medium pile carpet. Other brands don't lift the pad high enough, and the idea of dropping off the pads is useless when you have to traverse across carpet to get to/from the place to mop. There are a lot of complaints that Roombas can't navigate in the dark. While LiDAR bots can navigate in the dark, good object avoidance still relies on cameras, which doesn't work as well in the dark anyway. So better to clean in the light anyway. So I think the Roomba c10 and the Shark Nevertouch Pro are both excellent choices that you shouldn't feel bad about. They will have annoyances, but so will anything else.

I had a robot with auto empty and mop pad wash/dry and it worked good overall. But there are some vital flaws with most robots for homes that have extra dust/dirt and pets. The filters inside the robots will clog off prematurely and reduce suction. The Dysons cyclone system prevents this. Other robots don’t have extra stuff bristles so they tend to just surface clean carpets as they don’t agitate it enough. The Dysons full sized brush roller is extremely good on carpets and hard floors. Also the bin doesn’t fill up from the bottom up, but stacks the debris like hair from the back and gradually fills around the canister. It’s very efficient and holds a ton of debris. I would recommend the Dyson to everyone, but for our house it’s good with 3 dogs and 2 cats. But I would definitely recommend the shark powerdetect nevertouch pro for a great overall vac/mop combo.

My shark powerdetect nevertouch pro was a mountain goat. It climbed our almost 1.5” tall threshold. However there are newer models from dreame and roborock that have threshold climbing features.

I have the nevertouch pro. It works well overall. It vacuums extremely well and the mopping is decent enough to maintain your floors. The app had been glitchy but has got much better over this past week. However the app is lacking many customization options that you can get with other apps. I would probably look into Eufys x10 pro Omni.

Lack of options like suction power, routines or order of room cleaning, auto empty frequency “30 minutes is too long for our house”, invisible walls, or threshold lines, etc. I will say the robot itself is very good. It can cross over very large thresholds that more expensive robots would definitely struggle with. The edge clean is good with the air blower but mopping edges struggle at our house as we have that 1/4 rounded edging that goes around the walls so it will push the mop pad onto of it and freaks the robot out. The auto empty base doesn’t always completely empty the robot due to how full the robot is (the robot does a really good job with pet hair). Auto dry is subpar at best if you run the mop every day for full house clean or just spot clean.

I had to get creative and split my living room and bedroom up into carpet area and hard floor area. That way I can clean carpets first before it does its scheduled cleaning. If you do a deep vac and mop before it can definitely maintain the cleanliness of your floors. I still have to pick up toys and stuff before the scheduled cleaning as the obstacle avoidance isn’t as good as a dreame or narwal. The base station does a good job of cleaning the mop pad.

I almost bought this over the shark powerdetect nevertouch pro. The shark is an absolute beast for vacuuming but only decent in mopping. Almost the opposite of the Eufy. However I am seeing early wear in part of the roller brush for the flaps. But I run my robot every single day and on weekdays it runs twice. It also will clog off the mesh before the robots hepa filter but this is due to how good it is at picking up liter and small particles.

I might catch some flack here but if you expect to empty the base station very frequently then I would look into the shark powerdetect lineup. We had the nevertouch pro and were satisfied overall with its performance. Vacuuming it was extremely good, almost as good as our current Dyson robot. The Dyson is just slightly better on rugs/carpets with pet hair. But for larger debris and small pieces of paper the shark was better. Dirt and dust both are almost equal. The auto empty was just decent. The shark was decent enough for mopping to keep the floor maintained till we did a manual mopping but the lack of water flow control and hot air drying was disappointing. But I know the robot/app has updated so the flow control could have changed. The filter for the actual robot will need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks because the robot vacuums really good, I can’t stress that enough. On hard floors it was as exceptional and never left a piece of cat litter in between the wood planks. Worth looking them up on vacuum wars and justadad.

I purchased mine in December 2024 and the first few times it cleaned it was great. But now it leaves dirt streaks after mopping. I change the pad constantly, clean the robot every other week and only use shark cleaning solution in the correct amount and no matter what I do there are always dirt streaks. No idea why but we mostly use the robot to vacuum and I now use my swiffer to mop. Also know we have not pets or kids so the floors pretty much stay clean so this has been very frustrating. I would recommend another brand if someone was thinking of purchasing it. Also the app is frustrating becuse it logs you out constantly, so everytime you want to use it, you need to log back in.

We have 17 cats and a dog. We do not have carpet. We currently have the Roomba J7+ and it's been great. We've had it for about 3 years. It's definitely been well used and is starting to have issues with charging and extreme noise increase. I wanted to upgrade to a vacuum mop combo. After some research thanks to my ADHD hyperfixation. I decided on one. I ended up ordering the shark powerdetect 2in1 robot vacuum and mop with never touch pro base. I purchased it directly from the shark website and got a 3 year warranty included. With the markdown currently and a code I found on Reddit I got it for $599 and change. I chose this one for several reasons. I love the shark brand. We have several different products from them and they have been great. We actually still have a corded vacuum from them that we purchased after our wedding (8 years) I really liked the idea of a bag-less tank. It's one less thing you have to purchase and keep up with and I feel like it will be more of an eco friendly option. The cleaning solution: I was looking at a few different robots during my research. And from what I found. The shark solution is the only cleaner I could find that is sold online and in stores. For me that was a pro Another pro is that it has advanced edge cleaning "No cleaning details missed—when vacuuming, EdgeDetect blasts air to push debris from edges into the robot’s cleaning path. While mopping, it extends the pad up to an inch to for edge-to-edge mop cleaning." Hopefully this helps you some. 💙

A Mova P10 Pro Ultra for all intents and purposes is a Dreame X40/L40 flagship model vacuum at $500 right now. You can’t beat it. Can take a look at my post history for choices I narrowed down basically I felt like all the features I want in a vacuum should be included sub $600. QRevo Pro Ecovacs N30 Pro Omni Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Adding: Mova P10 Pro Ultra On paper there isn’t another vacuum on the market with the advanced features of the Mova at the price. The navigation and object avoidance alone should put it in another class. It has swinging arm swinging mop and a camera… if privacy becomes a concern for me valetudo is supported. Currently I have the N30 Pro Omni I picked up for $550 and it does a nice job cleaning however it keeps getting disconnected from my app and I have to reconnect it this wasn’t happening with the Shark Never Touch Pro although the sharks mopping performance wasn’t half as good for $200 more. If the Ecovac was more stable I’d have probably never looked into exchanging it but glad I found the Mova considering the feature set it has. I’m going to report back once it arrives to see if it lives up to the hype.

I’m very happy with the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum & Mop with NeverTouch Pro Self-Cleaning Base. I got it from Costco. I first tried a Roborock and returned it bc it did a poor job vacuuming compared to my old Neato D7. Then I tried the IRobot Roomba J9 and returned it bc it doesn’t auto fill the mop water from the base. I’ve been drooling over the roller bar Eufy’s but YouTube video reviews (particularly Just a Dad videos) helped me decide. It didn’t seem to justify paying double what I paid for the shark…in fact it seems like the shark might clean better.

2 Cats, 2 Goldens (one high energy that loves mud puddles and digging holes), a large backyard and 3 robot vacuums purchased at different times. With dogs you'll want one that has a base unit for emptying the collection bin or else it might run part of the house and stop until you empty it. Last year we made the whole first floor of our house LVP and upgraded the first floor vac to the Shark Never Touch Pro which both vacuums and mops (at different times; the mop pad detaches when it's vacuuming). I'm really happy with it. Especially the mopping which has really exceeded my expectations. Our past robot vacuums (all Sharks) if they ran almost every day allowed us to not vacuum really more than once a week (vs spot vac daily to get the tumbleweeds in the hallway and foyer). On hardwood they've always done a great job getting the hair and dirt. Where they have never done a great job is on Oriental Rugs. The golden hair just kind of balls up or gets stuck on the edge. Ran it last night on a rug that hadn't been hit in a week or so and it actually looked worse when I woke up because so much hair was brought to the edges. With that said, I just ran that room again this AM after picking up a few big loose piles of hair on the rug edge and it was OK for now. Wall to wall carpet has been ok. Basically it buys you time between vacs. Got my elderly mother two of them like my oldest unit and it does a really good job with cat hair on low pile carpet. Much better than the same unit does on regular carpet with the golden hair. Have never had a problem with toys. I do not schedule the runnings to automatically happen, however, for fear or it tracking through puke or worse. I always do a quick walkthrough the house (or specific room) before it runs. I have also had issues where there have been spots that looked "missed" and when I've looked at the app's map I've found the missed spot was exactly the shape and size of my large male golden retriever. So if he's feeling lazy he will literally lay there and let it run into him repeatedly and not get up.

My home is a mix of hard floors and rugs. Last week, on a whim, I got the Shark PowerDetect 2in1 (vac and mop) from Amazon for £477. I was impressed with the cleaning power of it but had to send it back because I was unable to get it to clean under my sofa or up to the kickboards in my kitchen. I would have kept it if it wasn’t for that. Today I got a Dreame X40 Ultra Complete for £699 as I did my research this time and have found it to be a lot better suited to me and totally covered what was missing from the Shark.

I run it a few times a week for light maintenance on hard floors. So far I like it better than my old roomba. The roller on the bottom so far has not been getting clogged up with hair, and the self emptying feature is great. In the short amount of time I've had it, i've been really happy it. Well it's definitely not the BEST robot vacuum, because I'm a little on the cheap side and I don't have to have the best thing, but I really like my shark vacuum because they have a patented "lint roller" that keeps pet hair and string from getting tangled or building up on the roller. It's the lidar kind with the self empty base. The self empty base is a must have imo. Running this daily keeps the pet hair tumbleweeds from taking over the house. Doesn't do great on carpet though.

So, with the 2 bigs we have a lot of hair lol ALSO.... if you do not have them already look at chom chom on amazon... it is a little hand held thing that gets hair off of furniture in a breeze!! I have one in the living room and the bedroom. It is like a lint roller without the sticky tape. you just run it back and fourth really quick on the surface you want to remove hair and it picks it up like a charm! I use that on my couch and bed daily! We also got a shark robot vacuum with a tank that it self empties into and we run that every day too. I have found that daily maintenance or every other day is the best way to keep the hair down

We have a self emptying Shark vacuum that is programmed to run in the living room and kitchen at night. As far as baby toys go. Most of that stuff lives in the giant playpen they takes up 1/3 of my living room. Still it is less work than keeping up with all that fur. https://preview.redd.it/ddu3lbzejone1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25f2be0c57e4ef63f85f3c8e507b9397df9d33aa

I have 3 cats, love the shark self empty. It empties 2 or 3 times before its done. They stand by their products, sent me a new unit when the brush failed, came with a 3 yr warranty.

I've been using Roomba's for a while. I have 3 from super dumb to self-emptying... They've been pretty reliable and do a decent job... but are pricier. This year I bought a black friday Shark deal... self emptying... In just a few times of use I find that Shark is behind on the game. This makes me leery to try other manufacturers...

lol saw your post right above this one in the other sub. I’ll copy my comment here too in case: I’m with you and the only robot vacuum that didn’t clog or burn out was the self emptying shark one. It was so expensive but it’s been going three years strong. I turn it on while they’re crated and I’m at work and empty it when I get home. I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold. To me it was worth every penny

You still have to empty the base but in my experience it allows it to do more than non self emptying. I use mine daily but I also empty the base daily once I get home. I also only use it when they’re up because they would absolutely eat it

We have a self-emptying Shark for our gsd, gsd/husky mix, and 2 cats. If it doesn't get run at least once a day, the roller brush will get clogged. We also do supplement vacuuming hard to reach spots with a stick vac.

I have a shark robot vac that does mapping and self emptying. It forces me to be a little more mindful of picking up every night and I love the mapping function because I can keep it out of certain areas depending on how good I was at preparing the house. Highly recommend!

Not BIFL, but our Shark (get the self emptying base!) has withstood 4 cats, a long haired dog, 3 adults, a toddler, and a long haired teenager for 4 years and still doing well. I was incredibly disappointed in the original roomba I tried. If you do buy a shark buy directly from them. Their customer service is phenomenal. I bought one through a home improvement store as it was on sale. It had a charging issue within 12 months and when I called Shark I was told that since I hadn’t bought from them they couldn’t cover the full replacement even under warranty. BUT if I paid shipping they would send me a new one - $34 later I had a new one on the way. Bonus points as I was able to fix the original and had two robot vacs for the price of 1+ shipping.

I have 3 and the best cleaner is by far the not smart ilife a4. They are inexpensive and run well on regular low pile carpet. Only complaint is that it sees black carpet spots as a drop and goes haywire. My ilife v80max Is finicky, battery sucks, same black carpet issue. My shark self emptying doesn't do corners and edges well due to the tiny single brush it has, the self emptying doesn't work 60% of the time due to cat hair. Just get the cheap ilife, hell, get 2 or 3 for the price. Mines lasted 8 years and counting.

I have a Shark with a base that it self empties into. Mine is scheduled to run three times a week and I empty the base once a week. I’ve got two cats, hardwood, and a lot of dust. You’d probably have to empty the base multiple times a week with two shepherds. Honestly I love my Shark. It saved me so much anxiety and time because I was constantly fighting to make my floors feel clean. Now I just have to spot clean and vacuum the corners where the robot can’t reach.

I second u/Huntit-Ownit ! Get one that has the auto empty dock. I empty mine every couple of days that way. One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace. If you keep an eye on Woot they have refurbished sharks on sale pretty frequently, last one I got for $120.... Edit: Looks like Woot has one refurbished for $129!

I've tried shark and iRobot. Both self emptying. Shark lasted a few years, my iRobot is needing parts replacement after only 6 months. iRobot also requires you to buy their own waste bags. It doesn't work without them.

We have a shark with a self emptying and charging station and I love it so much more than the previous roomba. Sharks clean in a stripe or grid pattern whereas roomba is a seemingly random pattern that drives me nuts. Our shark also lets me pick the level of suction eco, normal, max (I almost always use max) but that feature gives more control over the noise, and also has an option for what they call matrix clean but it’s basically a grid, it’ll do stripes all one way then perpendicular to really get everything. I’ve got 3 kids home all day and it does great with tons of food, hair etc. I use my big vacuum weekly on the main rug, maybe monthly on kids room rugs and shark for all other nearly daily maintenance. The big thing for me is the app and the map. Once it learns the house you can send it to just individual rooms to clean which is a lifesaver with small kids as rarely are all the floors clean at once. My kids know and have learned how to get a room clean and “roomba ready” (shark vacuum just habit), so they go pick it up, I send the robot and it’s amazing. Occasionally with an app update your robot will act like it’s lost and doesn’t know the map and you have to remap the house which is annoying, but it’s still so worth it to me

Yeah, it was a process for us, but we finally got down to a manageable amount of toys to where my 3yo can help us pick up most nights, or at least get everything into the playroom and then we block that room off and run the vacuum as we're taking the kids up to bed. We have a small cabinet in the playroom so we can rotate toys, and I'll let her take one extra thing out at a time, but then she has to clean up before we get anything else out. I keep most of the multi pieces toys in there so it doesn't get too chaotic. With my 14mo walking around dropping crumbs everywhere it's nice to clean at least the downstairs most days.

I'm a SAHM and we just run ours as we're taking the kids up to bed each night. We also have an upstairs one (claimed our warranty for it running loud on our hardwood downstairs and they never asked for the other one back) and that one I run a couple times a week, but I just send it into the kids' rooms individually when they're downstairs playing and then run it for the rest of the upstairs. It doesn't seem to ever wake them from naps either, but we do have light white noise running in both their rooms. ETA: OP, if you're going to get one, splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. I don't know the exact model, but both of ours are Shark and they work great for the price point. (And I think Costco sometimes has deals on them)

Not who you asked, but we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point. We've had it 2 years so far.

I’m obsessed with my shark robot vacuum that self empties. I run it 1-3 times and day, I’ve had it for 4 hours. Still works great and I love having a clean floor!

We got a shark vacuum from Amazon on a black friday/cyber monday deal, came out to about $300 or so. I specifically chose one with the base to auto dump into. We have a long haired 97 lbs dog and 3 cats. The vacuum goes through the house once a day every day. It is noticeable when it doesn't run. Sometimes it gets stuck, either physically on an object, or the long hair is too much and it clogs up the roller and we have to clear it before it can run again. But for the most part, itnis really good at maintaining the floors to look decent. We have a mix of carpet and hard floors. It doesn't get everything off the carpet, but it does enough for the hair to not be noticeable. Without the daily robot vacuums, there are noticeable puffs of fur all over the floor. It definitely was a relief on my mental worries of keeping the floors clean when we got it. I could tell the difference within the first few days.
