"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"It saved me so much anxiety and time because I was constantly fighting to make my floors feel clean. ... Now I just have to spot clean and vacuum the corners where the robot can’t reach."

"it is also so much smarter than the older cheaper brand I had that would constantly get stuck and just bounce around the rooms willy-nilly. This one maps it out and covers all the floor space efficiently."

r/VacuumCleanersWhat is the best self emptying robot vacuum for pet owners?

I have one of the Shark models where it’s a double canister vacuum. The robot is a small canister vac on wheels and the emptying doc is also a canister vacuum. It worked well for the first 2 years and has been slowly dying the last 3 years. I can’t get it to connect to my phone any more and the app is pretty terrible. Not the same model, but it looks similar to this: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/shark-navigator-robot-vacuum-self-empty-base-gray/JXJVXLJPRR/sku/6641726 I think if / when we replace it, I’m going to look at Roborock and iRobot. I also think I want to get one where at least the dock is bagged. I really wish I could find one where the robot itself is a bagged vacuum but not too sure if that exists.

r/greatpyreneesDo you guys have any robot vacuum success stories?! Or bad ones?

Fail. The tail furs are too long and strong and the roller kept snapping. I had the pet model too. Gave it away and have been happier with the Dyson and a handheld

I get it. I have a shark vacmop and have never attached the mop. It’s great at getting the pet hair and fits under my couch. The mapping is wonky, but I’ve had it several years now and don’t see myself replacing it until it quits working. Even replacing the battery was a breeze when the original quit holding charge.

r/homeownersAre robot vacuums worth it? I’ve got 4 small kids and I’m always sweeping up the kitchen. Now I have a crawling baby so I’m thinking about getting a robot vacuum, preferably the mop/vacuum kind but they are so expensive! Curious if they are worth it and an investment.

We bought a Shark vacmop robot and it's changed things. The biggest investments are picking things up (time) and keeping it clean enough to be effective (less time, but I recommend a USB keyboard duster to blow out all the dust from the filter and from the unit).

I had a Shark VacMop and that thing was only doing a basic job. Especially the app was very bad and the mapping/navigation was not really accurate. Now I've got a Roborock S7 Pro Ultra and that thing is doing a really great job. The mapping/navigation is premium and the automatic mop cleaning works like a charm. The app is also great, so I would recommend to buy such a robot, there are even good used ones (mine was also a second hand purchase). Dreame seems to be also quite good but I don't have any experience with that brand.

I use the shark one that empties itself and has gps (to map your home so you can clean individual rooms). Lifehack, order it directly from their site and then call them when you receive it to return it. They'll take 40% off to keep it. It's what happened to me after I got buyers remorse. Works great for my husky and gsd

We have a Dreame that self empties and will mop. It’s in the pricey side, but we’ve also had n auto emptying Shark that I really liked and a Roborock that did very well but you have to empty. FWIW we have two large dogs (Alaskan Malamute and Great Pyrenees) and 8 cats.

r/smarthomeAny good robot vac that actually fit into a smart home setup?

I have a Shark robot vacuum with the auto-emptying feature. The auto-empty is a HUGE part of making this work smoothly. The Shark is also much smarter than previous brands (iRobot and EcoVacs) that I tried. I've had mine for over a year and absolutely love it. I have used it with both wood floors and carpet, and 1-3 cats (2 of them with long hair that shed A LOT) and it easily keeps up with all of that. It's also good at avoiding most hazards like cords and cat toys. Costco usually has a recent model of the Shark robot on sale, I've sent a few people there for it. Looks like right now they have a vacuum + mop combo for $479, and you should be able to just not use the mop function if you don't want to. The Shark app is pretty decent, it will map your home and allow you to label rooms and track robot status. You can schedule whole-house cleaning through the app, or do manual cleaning for individual rooms. My only complaint is that I can't schedule individual room cleanings, I have a couple spaces that need daily vacuuming vs every few days for the whole house. Edit - it also has voice control available through Alexa and Google, but I haven't tried that as I use AppleHome which doesn't integrate with Shark.

r/homeassistantWhat are the most reliable robot vacuums for pet hair right now?

I have a Shark self-emptying model that's done amazingly well with up to 3 (long haired, highly shedding) cats on both hard flooring and carpet. I got mine from Amazon a couple years ago, but Costco has the newest model on sale. It's smart enough to map the house and you can name the rooms, and with the HA plugin you can do some advanced scheduling beyond just "run" that the Shark app offers. In my case, 1-2 rooms always end up worse than the others, so I run those more often and will schedule them with HA once I get that finished.

Shark has an app where you can control the robot from, but you don’t have to pay for it.
