Tapo is a home appliances brand under TP Link.
Better to go with Roborock even though both Tapo RV and Roborock Q7 M5 are made by ODM, but Roborock support and consumables are easier to find.
We recently got the TP-Link Tapo RV20 Max Plus. Its our first robot vacuum and its been really good on the tiles. We have two doggos who shed a LOT and that has not stopped it. The self cleaning station imo is really a must as bins for these vacuums are tiny. You can also get extra mop pads, which we got and swap them after each clean. The app was simple enough, and you can set how much water it should use for the mopping, and which zones it should clean etc.
I have a dog and a Tapo TV20 Max, which does the job pretty well. It also mops. It's going for less than $200 online. I used to have an iRobot but it wasn't as powerful and started getting very noisy. Also, there is much more competition now with more options since iRobot first launched. I like Tapo because suction is strong, has an auto-empty dock, is super quiet, and has an all-in-one Tapo app, which controls over Tapo devices that I have. Also its Google Home compatible.
For carpet and dog hair in your price range, look at the Roomba i5+ or the Tp‑link Tapo RV20 Max. Both have strong suction and handle thick carpet better than cheaper bots. The Roomba Q011 is also worth considering if you want something simple and reliable. They all do a better job on carpet than basic models.
I have the tapo rv20 mop plus. A slimmer less powerful [2700] model. I only use it for the vacuum function and it does its job. Had it for 10 months but had to RMA once as the side sweeper motor was making weird sounds. App wise has been stable but I had to remap the house once on the 5 month as the robot couldn't locate the docking station. Comes with 18 mths warranty and paid usd 150.
I have the Tapo RV20 Mop plus. It's the previous model to the RV20 Max Plus. Had it for 1 year. I only use it for the vacuum function daily. No complains on the RV20. It functions as intended. I deep clean the robot every 2 weeks and replace the dust bag every 5 months. It has enough battery, even now, to vacuum my home, which is about 90 sqm. Only two issues that happened during the 1 year of ownership. Had to RMA the robot as one of the side brush motor was making strange noises. The other was that the map tends to glitch every 4-5 months and you will need to remap your home again
I just bought one for Christmas! We have a toddler and a cat, and there was always debris that they'd track in. We got a relatively cheaper model though as it was well reviewed for the price (Tapo RV20). It's been doing great on our floors, a mixture of laminate, tile and on rugs. We set it to run each day and it takes about an hour to do our downstairs. It's not a totally perfect job but definitely helpful for keeping on top of the dust!
I went from a Roomba J7 to a Tapo Max Plus something just due to the auto-empty dock and despite being a cheaper buy that made the difference for me. The Tapo definitely has worse object detection but I’m still happy with it overall. Low maintenance auto vacuuming for less than $300 is a pretty good deal imo.
We have the Tapo max pro. I think we just paid $329 (?) at Bunnings not too long ago but it was a sale. We had a stick and regular in between our last robot (4yrs ago) and now. I absolutely love it. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs. The kids (6 &4) have to clean up before we run it so it really helps everything from becoming covered in kid toys. It also maps your house so you can select which rooms. We do our kitchen and 2 lounge areas daily and the bedrooms every 2/3 days. We don’t have carpet, just a few throw rugs so I can’t speak to the carpet part. But we love it so far!
