Aunt Shaun is a staple in our house. I thought it was a ridiculous spend to be honest but don’t tell my husband, it may be the best thing we’ve got for the house. We have a Tapo one (we have the cameras and really didn’t need another app to control!) and we can map it, set it to come on each day at certain times and it can vacuum and mop. Our house was built in the 1800’s and is dusty plus add in two cats and a toddler, and the fact my husband seems to create ALL the crumbs in the world when making toast! Aunt Shaun runs downstairs only (kitchen open plan space plus utility room) but I’ve never thought about dragging it upstairs to run occasionally like someone else said so I may have to steal that idea! She’s set to come on at about 9am because by that time we’re up and out the house, I WFH so it runs while I’m working and can help if she shouts for help or gets stuck because my husband has left his slippers in the middle of the floor again and they’re being pushed around the room!
I have the tapo rv20 mop plus. A slimmer less powerful [2700] model. I only use it for the vacuum function and it does its job. Had it for 10 months but had to RMA once as the side sweeper motor was making weird sounds. App wise has been stable but I had to remap the house once on the 5 month as the robot couldn't locate the docking station. Comes with 18 mths warranty and paid usd 150.
I have the Tapo RV20 Mop plus. It's the previous model to the RV20 Max Plus. Had it for 1 year. I only use it for the vacuum function daily. No complains on the RV20. It functions as intended. I deep clean the robot every 2 weeks and replace the dust bag every 5 months. It has enough battery, even now, to vacuum my home, which is about 90 sqm. Only two issues that happened during the 1 year of ownership. Had to RMA the robot as one of the side brush motor was making strange noises. The other was that the map tends to glitch every 4-5 months and you will need to remap your home again
I have the RV20 because I beta tested it for TP‑Link. I’d previously bought a different brand and have also beta tested vacuums for two other brands. The RV20 is the one I still use—two units from one of the other brands died on me. For the price, it’s a genuinely solid vacuum. It uses LiDAR to map rooms instead of bouncing around randomly like some budget models. It cleans in efficient rows and columns; I usually have it do two passes—one “vertical,” one “horizontal” for extra cleaning. Since you’re interested in mapping: the RV20 creates good maps thanks to LiDAR, and you can divide them into rooms if you have an open floor plan like I do. It’s shorter than many vacuums, but it can still get stuck if a space is just a bit too low. You can set virtual walls and no‑go zones in the maps, and once rooms are defined, you can clean specific rooms on demand. I use this all the time to hit high‑traffic areas like the hallway and kitchen more often than the rest of the house. I have a 63‑lb dog with medium‑length fur, and most of what the vacuum picks up is exactly that. The debris bin is a bit small and doesn’t fill evenly in the corners, so I sometimes pause mid‑clean to empty it. Regardless, I prefer it to brands which require the use of expensive disposable filter bags. The HEPA filter works well—it’s not blowing dust around. I’ve never replaced the filter; every couple of weeks I use an air compressor to blow out the bin and the filter. Because of the fur, the main brush needs cleaning on a similar schedule. My one real gripe: the two side brushes are poorly designed. After a few weeks, they permanently point straight upward instead of outward, if you turn it on its back. I tend to ignore this and have replaced the brushes one time; a spare pair comes in the box. Recently, it started throwing a “main brush stuck” error even though nothing looked wrong. Turns out one end of the main brush has a bushing that had stopped allowing the main brush to rotate freely. I cleaned it and added a tiny bit of grease about an hour ago, and it seems fine now. Someone less hands‑on could just replace the main brush—it’s a normal consumable. Because of the dog, I do wish I had a self‑emptying model. I beta tested one from another brand and it was incredibly convenient. They made me return it—the cheap SOBs—so I don’t test for them anymore. Overall, the RV20 is a great value and a lot of bang for the buck. Clarification: I’m talking about the RV20—not the RV20 Max or a RV20 Plus variant.
I just bought one for Christmas! We have a toddler and a cat, and there was always debris that they'd track in. We got a relatively cheaper model though as it was well reviewed for the price (Tapo RV20). It's been doing great on our floors, a mixture of laminate, tile and on rugs. We set it to run each day and it takes about an hour to do our downstairs. It's not a totally perfect job but definitely helpful for keeping on top of the dust!
Yes, I have been using economic robot vacuums for about 10 years from Gen 1 Roombas to used Gen 9 Roombas to Tapo and Eureka E20 Evo Plus. To date I like the Tapo RV20 the best for "value" it mops, almost never gets stuck, has good intelligence, no camera, and the App is pretty good. With its cost you can do one per floor if necessary. Make no mistake with a 4 women house, 1 dog, and 1 cat, regular stand up vacuuming is required but with this its every other week. Also you can adjust the noise to use it while watching TV, not during movie night, but general news TV.
Through the app it creates a map then you block off no go zones.
Check Tapo from TPlink I bought it offline from ITNET , Kochi They have local service and reasonably priced
I have a Tapo and I absolutely love it, I can't remember exactly what I paid, but I think they average around $400 not on sale? (although one with the auto-empty dock is currently half price; $400 down from $800) They're absolutely brilliant, the LIDAR scanning is really effective at keeping it where it needs to be. I don't have an auto-empty dock but my friend does and I definitely recommend it; since they suck out the dust it keeps the filters cleaner for longer.
We have two - we got a Tapo in a Black Friday sale a few years ago and it was great. We then got a Hoover one in a Black Friday sale a couple of years ago so now I have one on our ground floor and one on our first floor (annoyingly we have a second floor too but 3 robot hoovers is probably too much 😂) Both are great. I don’t notice a particular difference between either brand. Think both were about £150 in the sale.
