Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for a robot vacuum for my 1-bedroom apartment here in Asia. I’ve noticed that almost every new flagship is a "Vac & Mop" hybrid, but I’m looking for something that is **vacuum-priority.** I don't really care for mopping and want the best possible sweep/vacuum performance instead. **My Setup:** * **Location:** Asia (Support/Warranty longevity is a big priority for me). * **Flooring:** 100% Tile. I need something with high enough suction to actually get fine dust out of the grout lines. * **Pets:** None. * **Layout:** 1BR + living room + balcony. Space is a bit tight, so good navigation is a must. No carpets * **Budget:** No real restriction, but I’m looking for the best balance of **Value, Quality, and Reliability.** **What I’m looking for:** 1. **High Suction:** Since I have tiles, I need a beast at pulling debris from gaps. 2. **Vacuum-Only (or close to it):** Are there any high-end dedicated vacuums left? Or should I get a hybrid and just never attach the mop? 3. **Local Support:** Since I'm in Asia, brands like Xiaomi, and Dreame are easy to find. Which of these has the most stable app and best long-term reliability for this region? 4. **Corner Cleaning:** Circular bots always seem to miss the edges of my condo. Does anyone have experience with the newer "mechanical arm" or D-shaped bots for tiles? I’ve been looking at the Xiaomi S40 Pro and Dreame D20 ultra, but I’d love to hear from people actually living in similar apartment setups in Asia. What’s your "buy it for life" (or at least 5 years) recommendation? Thanks!
Ahh that makes sense. I'll keep in mind to buy parts from reputable sources. Also I got the s40 pro
Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately, that model isn't being sold nor serviced in my country. I bought the Xiaomi s40 pro instead.
What is the best robotvacuum without the big cleanstation. My wife doesn't want a big cleaning station in our living room. Now I got the Xiaomi Mi S40 Pro. It works great (extending sidebrush and mop pads, good suction etc). The corner cleaning and everything is great and a must for me, but the navigation could be a little better. I miss the AI (camera) features and threshold climbing. Is there a better vacuum without a big cleaning station instead of the Xiaomi Mi S40 Pro. Thanks in advance.
If corner leaning isn't your top priority, I would go for the Dreame l10s pro gen 3 and buy a tricut brush with it for the long hair. Temu or Aliexpress have verry good tricut brushes. Check out my review of the Xiaomi S40 Pro. https://youtu.be/_ew5UsX6lS0?si=OI9k5rLWQQOvN3tl
I went a slightly different path to you and bought a Xiaomi S40 Pro, specifically a cheap vac without a cleaning station (less floor space as I can hide it under a bookshelf). It's fantastic though, has basically all the bells and whistles I'd want out of the robot itself and it was the equivalent of ~£170 on special here in Australia. Can of course see the overwhelming benefits of a cleaning station if you have kids/pets though.
Just bought one and honestly I am a bit disappointed. The old S20 broke so I decided to make an upgrade with the help of the warranty. Bought the S40 pro and honestly this vacuum is a massive pu**y compared to the S20. It's double in price but the old one was more daring and courageous. This new one even avoids a small non dense ball of hair, legit super small like 5cm, goes around it which is super annoying. If it thinks it doesn't fit, doesn't even try, although he fits everywhere in my house, just some spaces are more tight. I hope that with some new updates they fix it, otherwise it's ok, the pads function properly, it extends them, but still doesn't do the best job in some corners. The suction is also ok, idk other than this vacuum being a sissy everything is fine.
Can't tell you very accurately since my apartment is mostly flat, but I suppose it depends on the height of the steps you're talking about. It handles well 2-3cm heights, idk more than that. It also lifts the mop pads when it detects carpets, that's what I noticed. The navigation seems pretty neat and the vacuum is too careful for my taste, don't think it will randomly fall off. I'll mail Xiaomi about being to careful issue, because avoiding small bits of hair it's kinda dumb. I'll keep you updated, used it twice so far, maybe it takes time to learn the way.
aku pakai xiaomi sih... s40 pro. kemarin nyari yang obstacle avoidance nya bagus karena punya kucing tapi ternyata meh aja. waktu itu pilihan lainnya roborock sama dreame. jdnya pilihnya xiaomi pertimbangannya ekosistem smart homenya. saat ini baru replace main brush sama filter, kerja tiap hari 27m2 dua kali sehari.
Hehe belum ada setahun :( baru bulan ke-7 so far memuaskan kecuali obstacle avoidance karena masih sering nyedot kabel (dijatuhin/mainin sama meng monster)
Well,I'm old-school and feel no need for a dock.So I have 2 xiaomi standalone robots and they suit me fine-no dramas,good performence/suction etc.If thats you-take a look at the Xiaomi s40 pro.Excellent value with a lot of advanced features-inc.an anti hair/fur main brush.However,if you want a dock,the mova/dreame models are a good price/performance buy.The Dreame L40 range,or the Mova p or v range.I see no point in you buying their 'flagship' models-they are very much mop-orientated.
I'm not sure whether you can buy it your end,but the Xiaomi S40 pro is crazy good value and I doubt you'll find anything better at its price point. Extendable mopping pads and side brush.Anti-tangle side brush and anti-tangle main and side brushes. Impressive suction figures. Its honestly an absolute steal imo.
If its available, spend a little more and get the S40 pro-its quite an upgrade on the S20+
The Xiaomi S40 pro is an obvious recommendation-great mopping, extending mop/side brush and good suction plus anti-tangle brushes.Tho,for much the same price their X20+ with dock is good value. Also the roborock Q10 S5+ is a more than decent buy too-but you sacrifice the twin mopping pads and get a vibrating mop pad. There's good value in the lower tier Dreame models too-L10.
They're good robots.I've been running the S20+ for a while now.Which is pretty much the same, but the twin mopping pads do a really decent job. I've also bought the S40 pro recently which gains extendable mop and brush arms and ups the suction a fair bit. My S10+ has been retired and put on ebay! They are all really good value for money.well built, with a good app too. Their chief plus point tho-is they just work and do what it says on the tin. I've had zero hardware issues,no dramas or crises at all. You can just trust them to go about their business with very little input, and that really,is the whole point of these little machines.
I cant really recommend the Xiaomi model for pet hair specifically. The better choice would be the S40 pro-anti tangle main and side brushes with much higher suction for cat debris! As an in between in pricing,The S20+ is a much better choice than the S40c,with slightly better suction and far better mopping ability.
Xiaomi S40 pro for me. Excellent carpet cleaning performance, extending mop pad and side brush too.Anti tangle main brush.Really good mopping performence. *Incidentally-NOT made by picea!
The suction is better on the S40 pro-also the mopping will be much better,2 spinning mops rather than the H40 static pad.No dock with the S40 pro though. The X20+ might be another choice to look at-if available to you.
You're welcome-I have it-it both mops and also cleans carpets well.
That-from my experience depends entirely on each specific model you own, even within the same app.
S10+,S20+,S40 pro. The S40 pro has far more options in its software-even though I control all 3 within the same app.
Agreed. Got the next gen, the s40 pro. Quite the bang for the buck.
Despite having a wider pad underneath it only manages to mop\* a couple inches away from the wall. Seems that the water just doesn’t penetrate the whole mop and only the centre. On the whole it’s very helpful, especially with a baby around. I can see myself upgrading quite soon!
Vacs very well! Very interested to see what the mid range £500 ish markets offers later this year
