Bestway alpinelite 7.6r 600g £35 does me well
That's odd, it's on Amazon
Half a year delivery time though, I’m sure that’s why it’s half price on Amazon, still a good mat for the price but it’s about £60 with anyone who has it in stock
Bestway Alpine for the money nothing else comes close. https://amzn.eu/d/gyFl8LH
Just got one of these, insane they don’t market this more often. Going from an R2 to 7.6
Update : this pad is amazing. Overkill for what I need being a 7.6, but it’s amazing as it reduces my need for extra layers during the night. It’s thick and padded and easily worth the price. Just a heads up, Amazon had it about 20 pounds cheaper so I’d suggest heading there as opposed to their official site!
Link 1. A generic mat which you will find sold by many Chinese companies. It has horizontal baffles which most (including me) prefer. Link 2. Never seen that before. Its shape is like some of the top brands. I found that when I had a similar one, the 'pockets' would cause my hip to touch the ground. It does have an R rating which is good to see, but don't rely on those entirely- there is no oversight or governing body, the stated rating might not be as high as that. For someone returning to camping and on a budget (which is sensible), I'd go for the first option. I do recommend you trial it at home and if you have a garden, do it there. See how you get one. Mats are one of those products that I believe are worth investing in, so do consider something 'better' when you look to upgrade. In my experience, the cheapest is just as prone to a puncture as those which are top-end, so get yourself a closed foam mat or one of those roll-up reflective ones to go underneath. A puncture on a cold, wet night is the stuff of nightmares (although my recent diarrhoea episode is hard to beat). Oh OP. Your tent will most likely need the seams resealed and the fly waterproofed. Don't camp without having tested how well it still holds up.
Sleeping mat, bestway on amazon is around £40...search this sub for info... Damn good for the money. https://amzn.eu/d/1Dtg4Gj
