"I recently slept on my Exped, straight on the ground (but in a tent) at 15⁰f and had no issues with the cold."
"They are not phony in the sense that the insulation ratings are way off. ... I camped in freezing temps for the last 5 years and am very toasty on every trip."
"the exped is the comfiest and warmest hands down."

"They are the best mattress for camping I have ever used. ... Even weighing 230lbs, side sleeper, I would have a tough time touching the ground through the mattress."

"it is bulkier and heavier for the same warmth rating."
"The Exped is definitely a bulky mattress style, though."

"Over time, the Exped began to leak ... As best I can tell, the rubber lining inside the fabric begins to slowly degrade and develop pinhole leaks. ... You never hear leaking air. You just wake up in the morning with your hip touching the ground (I’m a side sleeper)."
"Mind you, my Exped mat has never been the same since I camped in a prickle patch."
"Expeds CAN leak"

"on Exped pads, DO NOT simply pull the flap to open the valve. BE SURE to hold the part of the valve that is permanently attached to the pad fabric separately so that the forces of opening the flap do not tear the valve out of the fabric."
I (64M) love an Exped air mattress or a cot for sleeping. I always used a cot for many years but got talked into an Exped, not cheap, and I have to say it is awesome. It stays firm and fills up in minutes with the supplied pump and takes up minimum space when empty and it is light.
r/camping • I am tired of air mattress to sleep on. ->I (64M) swear by my Exped. Not cheap but comfort in a relatively small package. It comes in a bag that can be attached to anything. YMMV
r/camping • best camping mattress that packs small? ->I (64M) always used a cot when camping. REI had Expeds on sale and I have read such good things about them, so I bought one. They are the best mattress for camping I have ever used. Even weighing 230lbs, side sleeper, I would have a tough time touching the ground through the mattress. They are quick to fill up with the enclosed hand pump and quick to deflate. They are light and I now prefer it over the cot that I have used for many years.
r/camping • Exped Megamat or alternative ->I have used the predecessor (Airmat Hyperlite) since 2016. Back then it was one of the lightest pads a vailable. It's great in the summer. Just recently I took it out on a 10 day trip to Denmark. You can add a little foam pad if you run into shoulder season for a little extra warmth. I literally bought another one yesterday from Expeds yard sale for like 50€.
r/Ultralight • What is the use case for an Exped Ultra 1r sleeping mat? ->I'm heavier and shorter than you and side sleep on Exped mats just fine.
r/Ultralight • Exped Megamat Ultra: talk me down ->We bought the Exped air mattress that really fits well in the back and made our own mosquito net window covers. Love it!
r/rav4prime • Anyone ever buy either this "Sleeping Platform + the Cargo Drawer" kit or this folding mattress for car camping / storage? ->I have a previous back injury. I find the Womens S2S Etherlight to be the most comfortable, though the least warm. Next for comfort is the Nemo All Season, as well as the Nemo Tensor. In comfort, they are both just slightly less comfortable than the S2S. Both are warmer than the S2S. I have used the ExPed Hyperlight pad for about 40 nights. I believe this pad has been replaced with the newer version. Mine was a 2.8R value. For me, the warmth was equal to the S2S pad. It was not an uncomfortable pad. It just wasn't as comfortable as the S2S and Nemo pads. I tried the Thermarest NeoAir Xlite. My lower back ached when I used the pad. It just didn't have the support I needed. I wish I could use it as it has great warmth to weight ratios. I used the wide versio pads for each of these, though the Exped was a mummy MW version I would assume what is comfortable for me may not translate to you as your back injury may be different than mine. My injury involved the lower back. I have slept in a hammock a few nights and never experienced back pain.
r/Ultralight • Sleeping pad for bad back ->I use the exped hyperlite. It packs very small and I find it quite comfortable in any position I have tried.
r/Ultralight • UL comfortable sleeping pad for side sleepers? ->I also want to mention that the valves of some pads are not designed to be mistreated. For instance, on Exped pads, DO NOT simply pull the flap to open the valve. BE SURE to hold the part of the valve that is permanently attached to the pad fabric separately so that the forces of opening the flap do not tear the valve out of the fabric.
r/Ultralight • My sleeping pads never seem to last more than a few months ->Exped pads are often recommended as having less noise and being very comfortable. I own 3 of them. They have lengthwise air chambers. I like the 25" wide-at-shoulder mummy-shaped ones. They are thicker than many pads as well. Also putting a piece of 1/8" thinlite or goodnight EVA foam between a pad and a tent floor can stop it from moving around and reduce the noise it makes. Here's a photo of a pair of them in my tent: [https://imgur.com/a/F4cSV7j](https://imgur.com/a/F4cSV7j) Your question is asked frequently -- perhaps a few times every month, so a search may result in more opinions for you to consider. r/Ultralight • Noisy sleeping pad, what is a good alternative? ->sea to summit ether light xt - sweet spot for weight and durability. I prefer my exped lw for comfort (it's wide and even more silent) but these are not as durable. 3-4r are enough for what I do, for iceland I'd personally take a warmer one. But I'm a quilt user.
r/bikepacking • Overwhelmed sleeping pad purchase ->I have an Exped as well as the bestway one often mentioned here and the zen bivvy one, and the exped is the comfiest and warmest hands down. However I can’t remember which one it is exactly (it’s an old model, now deprecated, but 7 cm deep). Also has by far the best inflation system.
r/wildcampingintheuk • Sleeping mat advice ->I was using a backpacking style exped inflatable pad and recently replaced it with a self inflating one. Takes up a lot more space but far more comfortable (and quiet!).
r/camping • Is a self inflating sleeping pad better than an air mattress? ->I don’t find these comfortable. Lightweight - yes. Comfort - no. I just bought my second xped and it is bulkier but so much more comfortable. You feel as if you are being rolled off. And yes you can let them down which helps but still uncomfortable and then when you sit up you are on the hard floor.
r/Ultralight • Thermarest NeoAir Xlite NXT: I'm tempted, but there are so many negative reviews I'm seeing regarding leaks and customer service ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
