"I even washed them accidentally and still worked perfectly fine afterwards."
"Been using them for about four years working out in my gym, and cycling daily (45+ minutes on a bicycle outdoors)."
"The build quality is amazing, thing is a tank (99% sure it could stop a bullet). ... I have it for 5-6 years now, pretty much bought it right after release and its still every bit as good as it was out of the box. ... And I use it day and night, summer and winter, water or ice, be it +30C or -30C whatever."

"I just put up with the pinholes and patching them on trail because I can't sleep better on any other pad. ... There's a huge difference in comfort depending on your body between the dimpled baffling of the Etherlight/Tensor and the horizontal baffling of the Xlite. ... I can't sleep on horizontal baffling despite all the good features of the Xlite. ... I'm a side sleeper and my arms and shoulders ache and/or fall asleep or go numb on the Xlite. For whatver reason I can only sleep on dimpled baffles (tensor, etherlight)"
"super comfy. ... And even me at 270lbs I can sit in my side and not bottom out (inflated a lot though)"
"definitely has improved our sleep quality a lot while camping ... boyfriend has back issues so a bad sleep set up is not really an option"

"20 degrees F comfortably from below. Quilt wasn't up to it"
"Just had my second camp out with it. 0 issues with warmth at 50F , unsurprisingly. Also at 60f I didn ’t sleep hot so that ’s nice too."
"I've used it in May and January, perfection in every season."

"causes much less back pain, and when inflated at the right level, causes no pain."
"It can be super firm or you can let out some air and adjust it to your preference."

"Only issue is i cant find parts anywhere, no dust bags or anything. ... Still no, and the only bags I've found were by contacting support and them shipping them from a factory and me basically importing them.. like 16 bucks a bag"

"Dropped about 9ozs and kicked myself the rest of the way down the trail for being so gullible. ... I could really feel those 9ozs off my back."

"it is a motherfucker to roll back it will never be as small as the packaging"
"it is huge though and very bulky. ... it definitely cannot be stuffed into a large backpack bc it often is a pain to just pack it back up"
"Without the pump, the megamat is very cumbersome."

"I am a flopper and tended to roll onto the edges, which made them collapse and dumped me onto the ground."
"The Nemo tensor has failed on me twice now (the second one was a replacement). It slowly loses air, and so you are on a 3 hour schedule until you are reinflating it."
"The other two have a slippery surface that makes the last 1" on each side unusable since you slide off it anyway. ... the slipperiness is annoying for me since it just allows my leg to slide back down/off the pad (this is why I tried and ultimately moved away from the Nemo)."

"The foam might have lost some rebound over the years"
Have the regular size and they're spectacular. So I can only assume this is too
If weight and space isn’t really an issue then you can also consider the [Exped Megamat](https://www.expedusa.com/products/megamat). $10 more than the Dura, and a higher R value of 8.1 (Dura 8R actually had an r value of 7.8). It’s also a bit more comfortable IMO, and was originally designed for Everest base camp.

I have tried this mattress for 4 nights, one night with the temperature dropping down to -1c. My last 3 pads are: Thermarest NeoAir Lite, Mountain Equipment Aerostat 7.0, Exped Megamat 10 LW. Impression so far: Campmeister Deluxe is quiet, as comfortable as Exped Megamat 10 LW, relatively light, and on paper durable, -1c no problem. The pack size of Megamat is way bulkier. I had to deflate it a bit so as not to wake up with a slight side pain. I also get a slight side pain after a night on Megamat, thus, it is not so much the fault of the mattress, it has to do with my sensitive, aged body. My sleeping bag is the army style Defence 4 synthetic, with comfort temp at -9c for women. Note, with a regular, better mattress at home, I get no back pain. priority 1. Comfort -- 'case I am old 2. Durability 3. R value -- 'caes I hike in northern part of northern Europe 4. pack size 5. weight 6. color -- color that blends in the nature, as I love stealth, army-style hiking. I was considering the following, all with a R value of 5 or higher |product|Weight gram|package size|price USD|made of| |:-|:-|:-|:-|:-| |BA Camp Master Deluxe LW|992||281|70D nylon| |Expeed megamat 10 LW|2200|67 x 22 cm|261|| |Expeed Versa 5R LW|1045||191|75D poply| |Expeed Dura 5R LW|1150||201|75D/170D poly| |Thermarest ModoKing 3D|1990|66 x 26 cm|299|50D/75D| |Nemo Tensor All-season|580||260|40D nylon|
Measure your tent before getting the right size. I have a small tent, and the bigger pads don't fit. Everyone has recommended the Exped MegaMat. (There are 3 thicknesses.) It has a mix of foam and air. I tried it in store and it's definitely better insulated than their dupes. REI just started their sale today, and I'm going to get mine.
I think you may need the thin foam layer on top. The most well reviewed one is the Exped MegaMat. I got that and I am able to sleep a lot better now. I'm a side sleeper.
I have a small 3 person tent. I wanted to go with the LXW due to the extra width, but two wouldn't fit in my tent. The MW is fine. Due to the thickness, it was fine for me to side sleep (which I could never do with my previous lightweight pad).
I love my exped megamat, but it doesn't pack small.
I am a side sleeper and really like the Exped MegaMat. I have the larger one (for the width, 30 inches), but the regular one is just over 25 inches (I think it's 25.5). If that will work, it's very comfortable

Nemo Roamer or Exped Megamat LXW. Two amazing choices. Exped makes a sweet pump (the maroon one) that you could use on either. The pump helps deflate as well. Highly recommend.
Seconding the MegaMat recommendation. The foam inside does help to mute the movements of another person (as the insomniac in my house).
If you are car camping, look into the Exped MegaMat line. I have the single LXW and used to have the double LXW before upgrading to the Duo Max. They are hands down the reason I'm willing to camp. They have great insulation and cushioning. Putting your pad on a cot will also help your wife because it's more like a regular bed and you don't have to get up from the ground.

Keep in mind infants CANNOT sleep on a camping mattress. They lack the back strength to turn themselves over in case they end up on their stomach. Regular air pads and even the MegaMat fully inflated is NOT safe for an infant. You need a very firm mattress for your baby and they should never sleep in the same bed as you. Crib mattresses are usually small enough where they could be brought with you camping. As far as a recommendation for the adults get an Exped MegaMat or one of it's clones. Exped MegaMat 15 (the best on the market) Exped MegaMat 10 ALPS Outback Mat REI Camp Dreamer (note this only has a 1 year warranty) Nemo Roamer 3D Thermarest MondoKing 3D Big Agnes Captain Comfort Sea To Summit Comfort Deluxe Stoic Cloud and Cloud Lux (Stoic is a Backcountry.com brand)
Exped MegaMat 10 or 15 or one of it's clones. Slyvansport Cloud Layer Big Agnes Captain Comfort Thermarest Mondoking 3D ALPS Outback Mat Sea to Summit Comfort Deluxe Hest Foamy UST Outdoors Filmatic self inflating mat Nemo Roamer 3D Stoic Cloud and Cloud Lux Teton Sports Comfortlite
I couldn't tell you personally. Never used the Lost Horizons, Featherstone, ALPS Outback Mat, Sea to Summit or Big Agnes Captain Comfort mats. Can't afford to buy all of them and test them =) I have used the Exped MegaMat 10 and 15, Nemo Roamer 3D, Thermarest Mondoking 3D and Stoic Cloud Lux mats and they are pretty close in comfort to the Exped. The Lost Horizon looks suspiciously close to the Stoic Cloud series. The Stoic Lux (which is the same thickness of the MegaMat 10) was fairly comfortable. No complaints.
Consider that if they don't astm test their R value ratings will be straight up bullshit. With that being said if you are looking for a cheaper clone of the Exped MegaMat than the Acacia could be decent. The Store Cloud Lux of the Featurestone are trustworthy clones of the Exped MegaMat. Semi I floating is way more comfortable than air pads, but has a much larger pack size and weight.
The MegaMat 10 is green and the 15 is more like a maroon red. Some alternatives to the MegaMat include: Nemo Roamer 3D Sea to Summit Comfort Deluxe ALPS Mountaineering Outback Mat Big Agnes Captain Comfort Thermarest Mondoking 3D Stoic Cloud and Cloud Lux Heat Foamy REI Camp Dreamer (warning; only a 1 year warranty) UST Outdoors Filmatic
Exped Megamat Duo Max 15 if you can afford it, MegaMat 10 Duo LXW if you can't.
Exped Megamat or one of it's clones. You will never sleep better in a tent than with that thing.
MegaMat is the way
Cot + MegaMat for the win
Exped MegaMat or one of its clones (Big Agnes Captain Comfort, ALPS Outback Mat, Thermarest Mondoking 3D etc) Exped MegaMat Pillow or Nemo Filo Better quality tents from Marmot, Naturehike, Nemo etc. skip the Coleman and core stuff. Tent fan Lighting Flextail gear air pump
I’m too am a big guy and slept on my Exped Megamat LXW last night. It’s very comfortable when I get the air pressure right. But, it’s pretty large for backpacking. The Nemo Roamer XL goes on sale frequently and packs smaller. If you must go with a matt, I’d go that route. That said, my 6-8yos like having their own space in a tent while I hang nearby in a hammock. Between my snoring and stumbling over them to take care of business in the middle of the night they were glad to see me go.
Exped megamat 10 for the win. I have the xlw just for me. Best nights sleep I ever gotten have been in it. It’s expensive but I got mine on sale. When I considered the duo, the sale price would have been in your budget.

I upgraded to a Megamat Exped 10 right before my 9 day camping trip at the end of last season. As others have said it’s big and bulky (4” thick) plus on the expensive side but it provided the best night of sleep I ever had camping. I’m US based so am not sure if it’s available in the UK.
