I have a couple of the Exped wide ccf pads I’d sell if you’re interested at all

Not permanently but my visitors love my Exped mega mat. It gets used in preference to my sofa bed. [https://www.snowys.com.au/megamat-max-lxw-burgundy](https://www.snowys.com.au/megamat-max-lxw-burgundy)

I needed a sleeping mat for low temperatures so the high R rating on this is fantastic. It is also the most comfortable sleeping mat ever used.

A major impetus for buying this was my diagnosis of degenerative disc disease. It's very comfortable if you can still get up and down off the ground. I use a milk crate to help me get back up.

We have an Exped Megamat Duo (double bed size), and honestly, I think 4" is plenty of thickness for comfort, but your comfort needs may be different. We do fine with the regular duo, width-wise, but I'm short and my husband is average height. Queen vs 2 LXWs: honestly, it's nice having just one pad for two people. It seems like you'd lose a little bit of lengths and only gain 2cm of width, so I'd go with the queen. **A word of warning about using bedding from home:** if you are camping somewhere that is humid or if you expect rain, DO NOT USE COTTON BEDDING. I learned this the hard way on our maiden voyage with the Duo - we went to Acadia and it was misty/rainy during our whole stay. I was excited about bringing our normal sheets and pillows, and by the first morning, everything felt DAMP. Not wet, just clammy. It made it hard to stay warm at night, and it felt terrible on my skin. I will either use two sleeping bags or synthetic bedding for all future trips. But for dry climates, I think any bedding would be fine, and normal bedding really is cozier for two than separate sleeping bags.

I went from two Max LXW side by side to a Max Duo and it feels more spacious since there’s no gap in the middle. It was cheaper, took up less packing space, and felt more comfortable to use. YMMV though.

I use a Exped Megamat XLW, it's 30.3" wide. I'm a side sleeper and use a quilt, but I tend to roll a lot during the night, and this pad works great for me.

We just spent a weekend on our Exped Megamat XL, and we pretty much slept through a blizzard without realizing. Can't recommend it enough. Also, the dry bag and mini pump that comes with it are great.

If you are car camping, look into the Exped MegaMat line. I have the single LXW and used to have the double LXW before upgrading to the Duo Max. They are hands down the reason I'm willing to camp. They have great insulation and cushioning. Putting your pad on a cot will also help your wife because it's more like a regular bed and you don't have to get up from the ground.

The Megamat has held up really well for me. My LXW is ten years old and hanging in there, though the duo gets more use these days.
