"A good robovac is a life changer. Even a $350 basic S8. It is a great place to start. ... I promise you that you will not be disappointed by a basic S8. It will change your life even if it can't fit under every piece of furniture you own. ... My two S8s just finished vacuuming our entire house in about 46 minutes. ... While my floors were being cleaned, I sat comfortably on our patio in the cool shade with a slight breeze and composed my far too long response to you while sipping a diet soda and relaxing. ... I will have to spend about four minutes maintaining my two S8s. This will be my entire contribution to my home floor cleaning effort for today. Four minutes!"
"I got the Q5 Pro for $139. ... costs $450 less than what I paid for the S6 ... it is the best value option out there imo."
"Like 500$ these robots are currently the steal of the century ... You can get a mova p10 pro ultra (cannot remove its mops), equivalent to the l40/x40 for 500$ after a discount code"

"It's also absolutely unbreakable ... I have it since 3 years, done ton of afters, street parties, beach parties, etc, with it. Saltwater, beers, dust, sand, falling on the ground, etc, nothing broke or deteriorated it the slightest, and I am a pro for breaking anything technological."

"super comfy. ... And even me at 270lbs I can sit in my side and not bottom out (inflated a lot though)"
"definitely has improved our sleep quality a lot while camping ... boyfriend has back issues so a bad sleep set up is not really an option"
"I just put up with the pinholes and patching them on trail because I can't sleep better on any other pad. ... There's a huge difference in comfort depending on your body between the dimpled baffling of the Etherlight/Tensor and the horizontal baffling of the Xlite. ... I can't sleep on horizontal baffling despite all the good features of the Xlite. ... I'm a side sleeper and my arms and shoulders ache and/or fall asleep or go numb on the Xlite. For whatver reason I can only sleep on dimpled baffles (tensor, etherlight)"

"The foam might have lost some rebound over the years"
Air mattresses are not very good. I would recommend an inflatable foam mattress. They are a bit bigger than an air mattress packed up, but a lot more comfortable. The downside of an inflatable foam mattress is that they are closer to the ground if getting up and down is an issue. I have back issues and the most comfortable solution I have come across so far is the Exped MegaMat Max Duo. These sorts of mats are better than airbeds because when someone rolls over, it doesn’t disturb your partner anywhere near as much. It also offers much better support. There is also the Zempire Monster Mat, which is also very good, but a lot cheaper than the Exped, if budget is a consideration. I used one of these for a couple of years before upgrading to the Exped and to be honest, not sure if the slight improvement was worth the additional cost. Actually, Zempire has released a new product that is basically an airbed on the bottom, but then has a inflating foam mattress integrated on the top (so may be the best of both worlds, if you enjoy the height that an air mattress provides). I have not tried one of these, but was kicking myself that it was released not long after I got my new Exped, because I probably would have preferred to try this instead. Exped mattress here: https://www.exped.com/en/products/sleeping-mats/megamat-max-duo?sku=7640277846463 Zempire Monstamat and combined air/foam options here: https://zempirecamping.com/sleeping-gear I tried a variety of different camping pillows and non of them worked for me, so I take my pillow from home. The areas I camp in range from 23 F to 110 F (I camp in Australia). And we use this zipped up in winter and take one side off to use as a blanket in summer. https://23zero.com/product/royal-sleeping-bags/ Products above are sold in Aus, UK and US. Another thing that can help with “cozyness” is to go to a hardware store and pick up a cheap packing blanket. The sort that people use when transporting furniture to prevent them getting all dented up in the back of the truck during transit. We put one on the floor of our tent under the mat for added insulation and it also helps keep our feet warm when we are barefoot and getting changed etc. Depending on your tent size and type, this may or may not be viable.
I’ve had an exped megamat max duo for 5 years, and it just got its first leak (I also have a new kitten. Im not saying those two things are related). I emailed Exped and they are repairing it for free and shipping it back to me on their dime, I just had to pay the shipping to send it in (admittedly not cheap). It was a big purchase but having my repair covered after 5 years of owning a piece of gear is pretty outstanding. If the customer service isn’t enough to sell you, this mat is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever slept on outside. Guests prefer it to an air mattress in the house, too, so it’s not collecting dust when it’s not outside
The megamat is expensive and worth every penny!
I’ve had a Coleman queen double high air mattress for several years and it hasn’t let me down. With all air mattresses it stretches and needs topped up after a couple days but I’ve never woken up on the ground or even had it deflate to the point of being uncomfortable and I’m 6’4 330. I like not having to get down to the ground to get in and out of bed and have found it comfy enough. Your air mattress shouldn’t be failing after a couple uses. Problem with air mattresses is cold weather it’s not a very warm experience. That’s where self inflating pads shine giving you some foam insulation from the cold making for a warmer sleep. I actually just bought the exped megamat max duo because it was on sale and I’ll be camping in mid October for the first time so I’m preparing for cold weather. I haven’t slept on it yet but my brother happened to be visiting when I got it and he tried it and liked it a lot, better than the spare room mattress he normally uses. I’ll have a better comparison come late October but I’ve heard nothing but good things about exped mega mats. My only issue with them being they are basically ground level as opposed to my double high mattress being nearly 20 inches tall and they are absurdly priced.
https://www.expedusa.com/products/megamat-max-duo-2025 Its amazing and was the single best upgrade I’ve made currently. It’s like a home mattress
Exped MegaMat Duo 15. You’re losing 8” of width vs a queen bed but it’s the most comfortable sleeping pad you can buy. Alternatively, if you absolutely need the extra 8” buy two MegaMat 15 LXWs and put them together. You’ll have 61” of width.
Keep in mind infants CANNOT sleep on a camping mattress. They lack the back strength to turn themselves over in case they end up on their stomach. Regular air pads and even the MegaMat fully inflated is NOT safe for an infant. You need a very firm mattress for your baby and they should never sleep in the same bed as you. Crib mattresses are usually small enough where they could be brought with you camping. As far as a recommendation for the adults get an Exped MegaMat or one of it's clones. Exped MegaMat 15 (the best on the market) Exped MegaMat 10 ALPS Outback Mat REI Camp Dreamer (note this only has a 1 year warranty) Nemo Roamer 3D Thermarest MondoKing 3D Big Agnes Captain Comfort Sea To Summit Comfort Deluxe Stoic Cloud and Cloud Lux (Stoic is a Backcountry.com brand)
Exped MegaMat Duo 15. The Deep sleep is just not thick enough. I also strongly recommend the Exped Mega pump as it makes packing this beast away way easier.
Exped MegaMat 15. There is no comparison for comfort.
The MegaMat 15 is even better than the 10.
I couldn't tell you personally. Never used the Lost Horizons, Featherstone, ALPS Outback Mat, Sea to Summit or Big Agnes Captain Comfort mats. Can't afford to buy all of them and test them =) I have used the Exped MegaMat 10 and 15, Nemo Roamer 3D, Thermarest Mondoking 3D and Stoic Cloud Lux mats and they are pretty close in comfort to the Exped. The Lost Horizon looks suspiciously close to the Stoic Cloud series. The Stoic Lux (which is the same thickness of the MegaMat 10) was fairly comfortable. No complaints.
Consider that if they don't astm test their R value ratings will be straight up bullshit. With that being said if you are looking for a cheaper clone of the Exped MegaMat than the Acacia could be decent. The Store Cloud Lux of the Featurestone are trustworthy clones of the Exped MegaMat. Semi I floating is way more comfortable than air pads, but has a much larger pack size and weight.
The MegaMat 10 is green and the 15 is more like a maroon red. Some alternatives to the MegaMat include: Nemo Roamer 3D Sea to Summit Comfort Deluxe ALPS Mountaineering Outback Mat Big Agnes Captain Comfort Thermarest Mondoking 3D Stoic Cloud and Cloud Lux Heat Foamy REI Camp Dreamer (warning; only a 1 year warranty) UST Outdoors Filmatic
Exped Megamat or one of it's clones. You will never sleep better in a tent than with that thing.
Echoing most people here, Exped! This year we bought the big one for my wife and I (Megamat Max Duo), and two Megamats for the kids. I know you're a back sleeper but the Max is awesome for both side/back sleeping. Spend some time getting the air pressure just right after initial setup, it's worth it. Our max duo takes up a LOT of space in the SUV, but the sleep is worth it. Since you have a trailer, if money isn't an object just go with a real mattress, like a Sealy posturpedic plus hybrid in firm. You're not going to sleep better on something less.
This. If you have the $ go for a Exped MegaMat Duo. Pricey, but SO worth it.
Yes we invested in one several years ago, and I'll never go back. Pricy, but worth it!!!
I second the Exped...been using one for years and sleep great (mid 50s). Lower to get down to, but it's good for you to get up and down.
I agree with the Exped!
