I was deciding between S2S and the Exped and ended up buying the Exped when I found it on sale. Very happy with it so far.

I have that exped, I like it. 6.5 r though is pretty hot, like if your camping somewhere in the heat, it can actually feel like a like much. It’s a comfy pad though. I’m a side sleeper.

Thinner denier than the Xlite (20D vs. 30D) and occasional failures in the baffle welds are the downsides. They’re more comfortable and the dual values are better (in my opinion).

Exped Ultra is comfortable and ultralight. Pretty affordable, too. Give it a try

I personally wouldn’t get a double pad but I’m 5ft 130 lbs and my husband is 6ft 225lbs so it is WILDLY uncomfortable when we are on a double pad. However if you’re the same size then maybe it wouldn’t be too bad. I did just buy the Exped 6.5R (single) and I LOVE it.

Yeah it’s definitely not crinkly. I really love mine! And apparently as stated above the double Exped pads might be comfortable has a double pad! I might have to look into that for my husband and I.

Just got the new Exped Ultra 6.5R (it’s on sale until March 9 for $150) and I LOVE it so far. It seems like it’s going to be so comfortable. I got the medium wide mummy and it is 15 ounces. It $50 off right now which is more than 20% off.

The Exped ultra pads are excellent (I have the 6.5R).

I'm not sure what your budget is but Sierra has the Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass 15. It is fairly similar to the bag that I started with many years ago. As others have Mentioned the REI Magma 15 is pretty well regarded and comes in lots of size options in case your partner moves around a lot or sleeps like a mummy. I have the Magma 30 in wide and like it so far. It'll be on sale at the end of the month. As far as pads go I've had lots of luck with Exped pads personally. I'd get the 6.5 Ultra, which I think will also be on sale at REI, if you can swing it.

I bought the Wide Mummy of the 6.5R. I don't find its vertical baffles comfortable, so returned it (that's a personal thing). I can't speak to warmth, but the whole industry R value thing doesn't take in to account the air infiltration at the side of the mattress. Personally, I'd like to see a return to 1" self-inflating mats with an R2.5... as warm as a 3.5-4" pad with double the R value, easier to use, don't need to be as wide (you're not as high off the ground), simpler to inflate, can be made more durable. Here's a couple views of the Exped's insulation from my mat: [https://imgur.com/a/E8qUfzA](https://imgur.com/a/E8qUfzA) and here: [https://imgur.com/FVq9hoG](https://imgur.com/FVq9hoG)
