MegaMat Series
Car camping comfort champ, but some side sleepers find it thin.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
New Exped Ultra 6.5R and 8R have added the Mylar layer, but layer it between the insulation not next to the face fabric.
Just want to chime in here in case anyone still views this, the Exped ultra series (6.5R, 8R, etc.)has the same issue that the Eclipse has. There is a large gap at the sidewalls, I just snapped a photo with a flashlight behind but cant attach here. It does go partly into the outer baffle at least, but there is a few inches of no insulation around all sides
I own both. The Ultra is a thicker version of the Exped Ultra 5. Exped has a new series of Ultra pads like the Ultra 6, 8 and 10. This now has reflective insulation and standard insulation, is lighter than the older mats and warmer.
I'll add another vote for Exped. I've got a Megamat Duo I take for car camping or no portage canoe trips with my wife. Exped 8R for hike-in winter camping too. I also recently got the single size Hikenture 4" foam + air mattress and it seems to be quite similar in terms of comfort but for only $100. For backpacking or longer portage trips where weight is a concern, I also really like my Thermarest NeoLoft pad.
Exped is amazing. I was lucky enough to get my 8r pad half off. They pack down decently small too. They arent tiny but for how comfortable and warm mine is im surprised by it.
I have had so many damn air mattresses leak. I was about to be done with them. Then I got an exped 8r pad for half off and it is amazing. No leaks and I've been camping monthly with it for almost 2 years. Most of my cheap Amazon mattresses and even a $100 one lasted 3 or 4 trips most.
I use an xped 9cm thick. Absolutely a winner.
